I am a regular. It has been an amazing addition to my life over the last year and I’m so thankful for the staff, the owner, and everything they’ve done for the Astoria community. My old complaint about the mixed drinks and specials was silly, and I believe they’ve improved on that front anyway. Albatross is a special place — it’s the kind of bar that’s very hard to find, and they recently signed another 12-​year lease, so expect it to be around for a while. Walking inside is like being enveloped in a warm blanket, as though you’ve come home. Go discover it for yourself!

Great neighborhood bar to have laid back fun with friends and make new friends as well. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is free of pretention so everyone has a great time.** and I would like to add to my review: Since the last time this place has gotten better and better. Gone here the last two Saturday nights for the drag show; what a great time! Bartenders are super nice and attentive. Drinks are all reasonably priced. Place is cozy and the crowd/​vibe is fun. Will definitely be coming back. Wanna check out the karaōke night!

This bar is a godsend to Astoria! After a long day of work, I never need to trek into the city. When you walk in the door, you are welcomed with friendly smiles and amazing drinks! (They come in pint glasses… not shot glasses like most city bars) The new owner is fantastic and works tirelessly to make sure there is a full lineup of events all week from drag bingo, to karaōke, to open mic night, etc. If you haven’t been in yet, you should definitely come check it out!

Very friendly bar tenders and cozy atmosphere during the karaōke night on Friday. The bar itself is nicely decorated (the Halloween décor is not overwhelming) and the bathroom is clean. I enjoyed myself very much and met great people. Not to mention all my G&Ts were perfectly balanced. Thank you again for the great night!

Great little gay bar in Astoria. The bartender Nathan was very cute and always had my glass full! I used the app to check in and I received a free shot! There was a hysterical drag perforce going on as well.

I’m glad we finally got to stop in here. Friday nights are karaōke and there is some talent walking through these doors! The bartenders are super attentive and very friendly. It’s nice to know there’s a gay bar on this side of Ditmars. I’ll be back!

Albatross is finally reopened under new management, and Nathan is truly a fantastic bar owner. We stopped in during the day for a quick beer (that turned into five) then promised we would return later that night for Saturday’s drag show hosted by Jizzabella. Easily the most fun I’ve had in a very long time. Nathan kept the drinks flowing and it just felt so comfortable, so neighborhood-​y. Definitely our new go-​to. And Nathan shared with us his plans to really make this bar shine. Super excited! Thanks Albatross!

This is a great hidden gem in Astoria. The staff is attentive and friendly. A nice vibe, no attitude and welcoming atmosphere.
It attracts locals of all kinds which gives the place real personality apart from the traditional bar fare in the area.

You can’t make The Albatross up. It just IS. In a world of «neighborhood bars» the Tross has a true legacy and longevity. Just a friendly hello from the owner while walking the dog or a place to shoot a game of pool after a long day with neighbors who are now friends is a treat. Karaōke Friday rules. New nights are coming in and Nathan, the new owner, makes it all seem effortless. Come on over to our little unpretentious side of Astoria and see what real hospitality is.

Thought it was called Alcatraz but turns out it’s albatross… less cool name but I’ll take it. Anyway, not the point. This place is BANANAS. Like, insane. Karaōke, stiff drinks, fab atmosphere and the owner is just the greatest. Nathan… what a doll. 10 out of 10 and would definitely recommend to a friend. Peace out, Unilocal

Decided to not just drop, but really drop in and I had a great time. The bartenders are hot. The drinks are strong. I watched them. The atmosphere is intimate but friendly. I met the owner that night because he wanted to welcome us to the party and he could not have been more welcoming. I will definitely be returning with my people. By the people. For the people. Love this place.

Decided to drop in for a drink and game of pool while waiting for a friend to get off work. The bartenders are really nice and the new owner took the time to introduce himself and talk to us. It’s a great place and I’ve enjoyed myself both times I’ve been here. The quality of the cocktails was lacking though. Our drinks were pretty weak, mostly mixer and not much alcohol. I don’t think the bartenders are intentionally making bad drinks, I think they just don’t know what a standard pour is. They’re new so maybe they’re still in the training stage, I hope? Next time I’m in town I will probably stop by because I do like the place, but stick to beer.
