Tasty, tasty. The waitresses were very friendly, speaking back to me in Spanish. Pabellón was great.

Food was different. Atmosphere comfy and quiet except for a screaming baby who should have been taken for a walk or something. Service was great and empanadas were delicious! I would try a few different items next time. The rice milk drink with cinnamon was tasty as was their mango drink. I will come again! BTW parking is excellent here.

Patacon is all you need. Roast pork arepa was very meaty and hard to eat since it was so stuffed. Very worth the prices.

So again, I come and give this place another chance and once again, I get disappointed. My server took forever to take our order. When he finally approached us and was taking our order; he was watching the soccer game which was the result of him constantly asking what it was that we wanted to eat. That was very rude!

The arepas need help. They’re very very bland. I ordered a house specialty for $ 13 and it showed up… I was pretty shocked at how little I had. It was dinner that I ordered. Not some stupid lunchbox. House specialties not worth it. And those arepas… coming from Miami, I would know… suck.

Everything we tried was excellent. Succulent, will-seasoned, filling but not too heavy. We went in with a Groupon and everyone was cheerful about it. The three arepas and pitcher of sangria that came with the deal were perfect for a date for two. Had the flan for dessert and it was on point. Service was fantastic, friendly and helpful but not hovering. Excellent food for very reasonable prices. I truly don’t understand why this place isn’t packed, I’m assuming because it’s a little farther away from the restaurant district in Astoria? And it has parking too, can’t beat that. This is my new spot.

The worst hallacas I ever eat/Las peores hallacas que me he comido. They staffed the hallacas with a little bit of a stew that tested horrible. Las hallacas tenían muy poco guiso que sabía espantoso. The Pan de Jamón was okay but still little ham. El pan de jamón pasable, pero también poquito jamón.

I have eaten here twice and highly recommend it. The first time was for brunch and my friend had an egg dish which he really enjoyed, I had a steak arepa which was delicious and we split the mini empanandas which also were delicious. The second time I had the chicken arepa which was very filling and good. I couldn’t not eat more than one arepa. The mango juice was good but I am pretty sure it is not fresh. I thought their café con leche was exceptionally good and have gone in just to order one when I am grocery shopping beside the restaurant.

Came for brunch with my amigas, we had a groupon which was for 6 areapas and 2 pitchers of sangria. The areapas were yummy, I had the chicken and veggie areapas. The sangria was tasty, not too strong, just right, and flavorful. We also had the Yuca Sticks, which were well cooked, not oily, very tasty! The café con leche was spot on! OMG! It was great! Creamy, strong, and hot! Service was good, the only thing I had to remind them of was a cup of water, other than that the staff was attentive and friendly.

I’m going to Give this place 2 stars just for their Slickness… Ok so let’s begin with FOOD… definitely 3 stars but only because they have a great selection of Sauces, food is just as good as any Colombian/Venezuelen food truck that you can find around the area(at least as good as one of the best food trucks you can find) still doesn’t say a lot about it… It’s deff not a place you go out of your way to visit… Sangria sucked though… I feel like I can make a better one and I don’t know how to make one… Lmao ATMOSPHERE… It nice, feels very much inviting and definitely has that family business feeling. SERVICE… Great service! But it did feel alittle rushed… I don’t know why though … It was half empty… And now for my main complaint… So they advertise a great deal on groupon for 29 bucks… But yet they add a 5 dollar groupon tax… WTF… Why not just advertise it for 34 dollars… They advertise a great living social deal!!! 22 bucks!!! And then they add a 11 dollar Living social TAX… WTF!!! What a slick way to get you in… And then add on extra money to their bill… I don’t mind paying for good food!!! I love food! But I do mind being taken for… nonsense…

It had to be a delivery dinner night. My Grandson was sick so there could be no eating out. As we discussed the plethora of choices, I mentioned to my son the amazing picture I had seen on the Unilocal Review of the Day. The food at Arepas Café sounded absolutely yummy. His picture of an arepa convinced me that the reviewer’s opinion had to be on point. We decided on Venezuelan with each checking the menu on their own tablet. The Arepas Café menu had so many wonderful choices. Delivery dinner began to morph into a highly anticipated dining experience. Unknown to me at the time, my son was on the Web Site of the closely located Arepas Grill. We made our choices & my son placed the order. The menu options must have been extremely similar since he also didn’t realize we were on different Web Sites. Imagine my disappointment when I learned we had not ordered from the café with the fabulous Unilocal Review of the Day. But the order had been placed. And we were very hungry. At the time I wasn’t aware that the two restaurants had a common owner. The food was delivered quickly and thus began my love affair with Venezuelan food. The arepa in particular is amazingly tasty. My choice was the shredded beef, which was perfection. My son ordered a side of fried yucca. What a delight that addition was. I have found it a hard dish to locate in the VA/DC/MD area. Ground yucca is just not an adequate substitute. Although I am a frequent Brazilian cuisine diner, I had never tried Venezuelan. Now I am anticipating a quick return to the city and a sit down dinner at Arepas Grill. No take out next time… The Sangria calls to me, telling me that it’s the perfect addition to an Arepas Grill meal. Am I raving about Venezuelan cuisine & Arepas Grill? Absolutely! I have no shame. Where has it been all my life?

I used to eat at Arepas Café all the time when it first opened. I’ve moved out of the Astoria area but ran into Riccardo, the owner of both Arepas Café and Arepas Grill at a recent Unilocal event and I’ve been meaning to try Arepas Grill for awhile now. Why? Because it is so DIFFICULT to find PATACONES, and good ones in Queens, especially Venezuelan style. Yes Colombians have arepas too but they are different and I am very fond of Venezuelan food since I’ve traveled there a few times to work with the Chinese community over there. The arepas at Arepas Grill are great and they have the same delicious sauces. But the PATACONES, OMG so amazing and filling. I couldn’t even eat an entire order(pork) because it was so big and I actually took my leftovers home and ate it three days later, popped it in the toaster over and it was still delicious. Try their mini patacones which are like small open face ones. A tostone with some meat on top and dip it into their green sauce = heaven. Since I don’t like in Astoria anymore I like Arepas Grill location better since it is located in a strip mall with lots of parking, plus they only have patacones at this location!

Everything is very cheap and very good! Ordered on a rainy day for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. My Arepa Hongos(mushroom Arepa) was so good I couldn’t put it down. My appetizer, the mini cachapas(mini sweet pancakes with cheese) were a lovely treat of sweet and savory and to top it off, the tres leche cake for dessert, was a perfect end to my dinner. This place is extremely underrated. Definitely going to dine in soon. Support your local businesses yall!

I was absolutely surprised and elated to have a meal here. Sangria Delicious and well priced. Strong the way it should be Appetizers Wow those mini empanadas like arepas were delicious. Such a nice flavored with rich texture Entrees Arepas: chicken and beef arepas(I believe steak) were Delicious. The arepa bread was fresh and tasted soft inside and crunch outside. Meats and toppings were perfect and Jeez that green sauce and hot sauce were perfect. Stellar restaurant that I wish had a better location.

The food was good. Nothing extraordinary. The service is very strange. The waitresses are very very nice, but they hover over you in a weird way. The minute you put a napkin down somebody’s coming in taking it away. The minute you’re done with the plate, they’re removing that plate. It’s weird. The biggest problem is, I had a LivingSocial voucher and in the end they charged me $ 12. It also said on the receipt that the gratuity was not included. So, I was confused because there isn’t $ 12 of tax on a $ 50 bill. When I asked the waitress she explained that the $ 12 was the tax with Tip. They seem to be trying to sneak in a $ 12 random charge in the middle of the check. It was all very strange

The arepas here r good. The sauce really adds to the flavor. I got the groupon for $ 29. 3 arepas and a pitcher of sangria. Ordered the tostones with queso which was delicious(added the red and green sauce). Arepas– Mami, pernil pabellon and a mecheda. The best was mecheda i thought. Passion fruit sangria was mixed with red wine. Definitely served over alot of ice. Service was great i didnt feel like i was forced to order more then i wanted. This was definitely enough for two. Last but not least we ordered the flan… alot thicker then i would have liked it. Over all experience was good.

This is the 3rd location of the three separate establishments. I think I like this one the best for the following reasons: 3 blocks from my parents house, it’s less known so there are no lines, and it’s a lot bigger than the other two. Downside, it’s quiet and doesn’t have the hipster ambiance you get from the Williamsburg location or the frequent customers base of the Astoria location in 36 – 35 ave locale. When I visited there was only 3 tables busy out of possible 20. So as you can see this is a quiet location. The menu seems to be the same and the type of arepas also the same. They did not miss on the seasoning or the quantity. Sometimes when you have ore than one location. One usually suffers. But this wasn’t the case here. They also serve the passion fruit sangria which was pretty strong just like the other locations. The big plus here is that it’s located inside a shopping center. So you have where to park. If you have problems with greasy food, I recommend you stick to lighter plates like salads, also served here. Their food is very flavorful and with that comes lots of butter, oil and whatnot. There are several tvs with different programming in all. So they are pretty good at catering to all. This place also has a decent side bar maybe for 7 – 8 people. Lots larger than Williamsburg bar. I tried the mami arepa. It was juicy and very tasty argentianian pernil inside of it. Come try it!

Loved the food here! My boyfriend and I had a living social deal and the food was delicious. I had the white mango sangria– big fan! The only thing i wasn’t a big fan of was the dj– however, it was a Friday night, so I’m either getting too old, or was just too tired after working a long day.

I came into Arepas Grill prepared that my face will breakout and throat will be sore from all the deep fried goodness. I thought I would be overwhelmed by the abundance of fried food but I was pleasantly amazed how each item differed in flavor and texture. Using a livingsocial deal, we got the: Mini Platter($ 11.00) — Tequeños(3) — These were like deep fried mozzarella sticks but in a thicker, doughier skin. Eat them while they are hot and still have the gooey center.(7⁄10) — Cachapas(3) — Tiny pancakes made of corn flour with a slice of mozzarella cheese on top. Sweet and fluffy(7⁄10) — Empanadas(3) — Three kinds(cheese, shredded beef, chicken) are served. The skin was crispy and the filling of each one was delicious and flavorful. Definitely could go for the full size versions.(8⁄10) — Yuca Sticks(3) — Perfectly fried because the yuca was soft yet still kept its shape.(7⁄10) Carne Mechada Arepa($ 6.25) — These arepas are not dainty. No, they are flatbreads stuffed with mountain-sized portions of meat. The shredded beef version is dripping with juices and full of onion and garlic flavor. Although it is just a tad tough(8⁄10) Rompe Colchón Arepa($ 6.00) — this is the seafood medley arepa filled with calamari, mussels, shrimp & octopus. It smells good and tastes better and my favorite of the two arepas we sampled.(9⁄10) While the food was superb, the service was inconsistent. A waiter approached us first but he didn’t know what the livingsocial was nor had a command of the English language. Luckily a waitress rescued us and she was awesome. They ran out of dessert and offered to replace it with drinks but we chose not to take it. Even though we opted for cheaper food options and didn’t get dessert, we were auto-charged 18% tip on the full value of the voucher. This underhanded service charge was the only hiccup in what could have been a perfect meal.
