Mr Gyros

I’ve only ordered here for delivery. They’re about a mile away from my job and sometimes take 20 mins other times an hours. I usually get the soup and a small salad or slider. Nothing to write home about. I’ve also had the chicken gyro plate which is usually good but once in awhile seems a little greasy. The rice it comes with it pretty good.
Others in my office have ordered buffalo wings. The sauce on them I’m pretty sure is tabasco sauce not buffalo sauce. They also don’t have any blue cheese for them. Instead your options are tzatziki sauce or some other white sauce that they sometimes include and I’m not even sure what it is.
Overall not bad, but not great. They’re still one of the regular delivery options for lunch at the office.

Good place to eat at. I think some of their prices on the menu are pretty steep. I normally stick with gyros! Which I cannot complain about. Wanna see a gyro on steroids please come here.
The staff is really nice and the owner she’s a tough one to read, she’s in a good mood sometimes and other times she’s just really rude.
The place is always clean two thumbs up on that one!

i gave this place 2 stars because it decided to raise prices, and not by like 1 – 2 $ but almost 6 $ it was insane.
and the food was just ok– if this place was packed full of people on a daily basis i could justify that but this place was ALWAYS empty every time i went in, and always messed up the delivery orders. now its not even called mr gyros– and its a burger joint, and they painted over the nice scenic painting with some crap.
the only thing this had that was worth it was the lemon potatoes, those will be missed but not at 7 $ for a side.

the gyro was good, not mind-​blowing, but tasty and filling.
it’s not good beard food, though.

Love me the grilled chicken greek salad. It’s fresh, light and perfectly delicious for lunch or dinner. Always perfect!

Ive been here twice, and both times ordered the chicken souvlaki plate — chicken, lemon potatoes, Greek salad, tzatziki, and pita.
Overall it is a very simple and tasty meal. The chicken is well seasoned and moist, good tzatziki, and the lemon potatoes are the best that I have had in a long time!
My only complaint is that the last time, I received pita that was hard as a rock. It was hard to fully enjoy the meal without any edible pita.
Will I come back? Of course! Good food, good prices, and great lemon potatoes!

Very good place for a gyro & inexpensive for $ 5. Love the Chicken Gyro! :D

By far the best gyro I’ve had. Everything about their ingredients are fresh. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions are rich. The lamb is delicious and not ridiculously salty like many places. It’s not dry or burnt. Their tzatziki sauce is awesome and their portion control is perfect. Gyros and most of their other sandwiches run for about 5 bucks I believe.
The service here was superb, they were incredibly quick and neat with our orders and the lady boss I think is super friendly. We also tried some of their dessert. I can’t recall the names of them but they tasted pretty awesome. One was filled with walnuts and the other almost tasted like flan/​danish cake.
Every place has their own specialty and this place is clearly their gyros. Their felafels looked yummy too but I will have to try it next time and compare to other places. I will definitely come back again in the future knowing this place has a parking lot and it’s not too far from where I live.

Nothing fancy, but fresh, tender, and tasty food that won’t break the bank. Free delivery too, I think?

We’ve been ordering from Mr. Gyro for more than a year and love it. Big fans of the gyro plate with rice or lemon potatoes, the pasticchio, the saganaki and the gigantes. If you’re getting your food delivered reheat it for about 10 mins. at 400 and it’s that much better. If you’re eating at Mr. Gyro I’d also recommend the charcoal calamari and the octopus grilled dinner. Really delicious, tender octopus. The baklava and Greek yogurt are great for dessert. Also, the owner is really nice and makes great recommendations — sometimes preparing things that aren’t on the menu.

So I ordered a gyro from Mr. Gyro a while back. A few months later I saw I had the menu and thought to myself that it must have been good (otherwise I would not have kept the menu). I was terribly mistaken. When the food came I had a flashback to the nasty greasy food from months prior. I tried to stomach it, but the food just sucked. I ate like 3 bites, and threw it out. I have since removed the menu from my menu-​folder.

Simply put, this place is the bomb. Amazing gyros and souvlaki sandwiches. Just had a chicken souvlaki for dinner last night and once again it was absolutely delicious.
I’ve only had the chicken gyro, lamb gyro, and the chicken souvlaki but all have been great.
Plus, it’s only $ 5 for a very nice portion size.
Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good gyro in Astoria.

People saying how great this place was and then only giving it 1 or 2 stars? That is just flat out lame

not very good.
I got a pork souvlaki here and it was literally like eating souvlaki shaped air. I’ve never eaten anything so flavorless. The tomatoes were pretty fresh and pita was grilled nicely. but the meat was utterly tasteless.
Service is very attentive. Too bad they can’t cook for crap.

I don’t get how people like this place and can still give it a 1 and 2 star rating. Personally, I like it. It’s a little neighborhood joint that makes homely meals for very reasonable prices. Their roasted chicken is fantastic – probably best in the area. You can have a whole one for 8 bucks. The lemon potatoes are very tasty as well. Oh, their pita bread is also very good. Bottom line: it’s a nice, clean local place to get a quick bite for very reasonable prices.

Carry out order… I ordered the Lamb Gyro with extra white sauce. The sandwich was $ 5.50, a little pricey to me since it did not include any fries. I enjoyed the gyro — very tasty and fresh! Next time I will order in.

Eating in is your best bet. I’ve ordered to go, I’ve had it delivered. Eat in. The Gyro and Chicken gyro are great, hot, lots of veg and a side of fries, rice or lemon potato. It’s clean, bright, affordable.
The burgers aren’t anything special, the veggie burger was a big mistake and I should have known better.

Atmosphere: A mix
Kids: sure, why not.
