Really amazing breakfast and coffee. Tried the daily scrambled egg special which was an amazing meaty egg bake. They have a non meaty version too. Amazing all around.

Very good fluffy breakfast Omelette and Latte. I had the Spinach-tomato-feta-goat cheese with a side of red potatoes and Sourdough toast. I have to say, which is rarely the case, the potatoes were the high-lite of the meal. Absolutely wonderful on a wet winter morning. The latte I enjoyed was one of the best I have had in the northwest… I should have ordered a second for the road which is where I took my meal.

Delicious breakfast! Yummy dinner and drinks. Pretty pricey. Not a lot of seating. Coffee is delicious and their desserts and pastries are yummy! Street parking only. Long wait for table if they are busy. Good staff.

Great brisket hash and eggs. Fried oyster hash was pretty good too… Order the biscuit! Bloody Mary was a good one– not too spicy.

I love this bistro. Had another fabulous breakfast here. The décor is pleasant and the bakery goods outstanding. Loved the almond croissant. Had the Coastal Benedict which was delicious. And the pumpkin latte. All so very good.

LOVE this place!!! Best ever Cioppino, period! Fried oyster appetizer(on Apple slaw, with jalapeños, pineapple, and yummy sauces) is unbelievable. The menu is full of great creative dishes, and our server was friendly and fast. Awesome coffee and treats too.

Just wow… I wasn’t expecting this in Astoria. This is a must visit place; kitsch/eclectic and truly amazing food. My wife and I stopped for breakfast and we’re greeted & seated by Nicole. She helped with the specialties. I highly recommend the huevos rancheros. It’s the very best I’ve ever eaten.

This is my go-to lunch and dinner spot! I ALWAYS have a delicious meal and it’s beautifully plated eye candy to boot! Today I branched out into the salads, the half Caesar to be exact, and added on a bowl of bacon clam chowder with buttered bread. These portion sizes were massive! I’m painfully full as I sit back at my cubicle, wishing I had taken half of my chowder and bread to go, for a late afternoon snack. When will I learn?! The chowder is one of my husband and I’s favorite and it’s even more satisfying with some hot sauce mixed in. Yum! It’s thick and the best balance of clams, potatoes and bacon, with Parmesan cheese on top. $ 7 bowl. $ 5 cup. Both come with buttered toasty bread. Half Caesar salad was $ 6 and seriously huge! I couldn’t imagine how big the full size is?! It was a MAJOR twist on a Caesar, but delicious. Caesar dressing and balsamic reduction on top of romaine, cherry tomatoes, red onion slivers, spiraled beets, sprouts, Parmesan and lots of savory homemade croutons. I’ve tried nearly everything on the lunch menu and can vouch for the Reuben, Mexican Torta(the best!), poblano burger, portabella mushroom burger, chicken curry salad, deviled eggs and fish tacos. They’re chef also won the award for the Coastal Iron Chef competition this year, again!

Ok four words: Sushi night and Gimlets! We came here due to a recommendation from the fine gentleman at Astoria Brewing Co. He told us that Monday was Sushi Night and even though they only do it once a week it was probably the best sushi in Astoria. We walked in early and were able to get a table in this funky cool establishment. Ordered a gin gimlet and was not disappointed. Well balanced and didn’t come in one of those all too popular but leaving you wondering what happened martini glasses. Sushi was yummy as heck, especially the poke salad. Rolls were great. We had the Red Dragon Roll and the Tempura roll. Everything tasted excellent and fresh. If it’s Monday and have a hankering for Sushi then this is home. By the way if you are looking for dinner and a movie the Columbian Theatre is just across the street. My only critique was upon leaving I ordered a latte Togo(I am probably more picky than you) my Latte’s milk was hot as balls and had lost its natural sweetness.

I never have great luck with this place. Been here two times for breakfast, a couple of times for coffee and this time just for hot cocoa and coffee. Every time I’ve encountered slow, disinterested service staff. It was a really slow day this time — not many customers in the whole place and no one behind us — but somehow it took more than 10 minutes to make a small hot cocoa with three people wandering around behind the counter. It seems like they’ve spruced up the space since I was last there — with a cool U-shaped bar and nice, funky décor in the second room. It be nice if they spruced up the service to friendly, customer service oriented folks too…

Strangely enough, we didn’t find an abundance of breakfast options(via Unilocal anyway) in Astoria. This one wasn’t even listed under breakfasts(just coffee, tea). But, finally, we came across this one and chose it for our final meal in town. One side of the building façade has a roll-up door for nice weather days, and the other bistro/bar side is window-enclosed with three booths right at the window, next to a bar with bar stools and maybe some small tables on the other side of that. There are baked goods on display at the counter. We got a take-out berry scone that was a little over-browned, but really quite delish. For our actual breakfast, I got eggs Benedict, Florentine-style, with spinach & tomatoes rather than Canadian bacon. It was pretty good. Had specifically asked that there be no runny whites in my eggs, and that’s all there was(ick). So, waiting for the waitress to check on us, I hemmed and hawed about whether to send them back(I HATE having to do that), and finally did when I realized I couldn’t face those quivering little devils without risking public gagging. The waitress, who when we first arrived, had been the teensiest bit snotty, eventually warmed up and was very accommodating and whisked that dish away, and returned with my perfectly done egg dish. The hub was done eating by then, but so it goes. We’d come back, specifying even further about egg wishes.

We came here on a recommendation from a friend, on our way down the Coast. I’m a foodie and – why eat if the food’s not great? The atmosphere is cozy and casual. Service was very good – attentive, but not overbearing. I ordered a lemongrass Collins cocktail, which was superb, strong and inexpensive. I also had the fish tacos. They were packed with fish and delicious accompaniments, to the point that I could t finish them. I was bummed because the coconut purple rice was a real treat! And it was very affordable. Highly recommend. I don’t know why the 3.5 star rating.

I love the coffee here! The food is pretty spectacular too… The last time we went we were there very close to closing, our server didn’t seem very knowledgeable of what was in the dishes, but she was still really nice, and eager to help us even if she didn’t know all of the answers to our questions, my son wants to be a chef, so he is known to ask lots of questions, and she was very patient and kind to him. Did I mention that I love the coffee here, yes, yes I did, I’m a huge fan of their special creations! This is a must stop for any trip to Astoria!

I had high hopes about getting a good, Pacific Northwest latte in the great little town of Astoria Oregon. The latte was OK, but it was the service, or I should say the attitude, that was most disapointing. The barista behind the counter, Kasey(sp) was less then friendly and seemed put-out when I ordered my drink. A community and especially a business that depends largely on visitors, should at least make an effort to be cordial. Great location, decent interior but poor attitude unfortunately«soured» my café latte.

This was our first visit to Astoria Bistro. We were super excited to try it as a store owner in Ocean Park highly recommended them. We enjoyed our food, however the service was very poor. It was quite busy when we fist arrived, so we gave them some slack. We received our appetizers… no napkins, silverware etc. Had to get our own at the bar. Nobody checked on us to see how things were or if we needed another drink etc. We were sharing our entrée, so when it came the waitress brought an extra plate that was filthy. I do have to say it was delicious! Loved the atmosphere, location and décor. We will go back just because the food was excellent. Maybe the service will improve? Just honest criticism.

So I dig this this joint! It’s cool, hip, eclectic and the folks working here are super nice. chef is knocking it out with his creative slate and I love the trendy yet true to roots OR fair on the menu. Of course I saw a bit room for improvement on my Curry Chicken Salad. The Chicken Salad had awesome flavor and spice, the chicken wasn’t mushy which most of the time that why I steer away from chix salad in most places. I would have liked to see the bed of greens dressed with a lemon vinaigrette or even just a little oil, salt and pepper but hey, if that’s all I got, pfft! I will be coming back there’s other menu items I’d like to try out.

Absolutely loved this place! I guess you can say it’s kind of a hole in the wall type place. We came for breakfast and we left with smiles and tummies full. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Yuuuummm!!! One of the best breakfast places I’ve been to. I will definitely come back again if we’re in the area.

We went to Astoria Coffeehouse & Bistro on a Saturday morning. It was a rainy morning, and from the outside, it looked cozy and quaint. When you walk in, the coffeehouse is to the right. There are some couches and chairs for you to relax and enjoy your coffee and tea while you wait for a seat at the bistro. Now let me say that the wait-list system was super confusing! When we first walked in, there were a few people ahead of us and there was no host/server taking down names. We stood there for about five minutes until we saw other people writing their names on a list. Since we weren’t sure what to do, we followed their lead and wrote down our names. It appeared that there were a handful of booths as well as some bar seating, but we were under the impression that someone would cross our name off the list and seat us. That wasn’t the case… More customers walked through the door and sat down at the open bar seating, so we finally decided to cross our names of the list and do the same. It would help to offer some directions as to how to be seated. Once we did seat ourselves, we were waited by a woman behind the bar. She wasn’t very friendly, but she took down our order and brought us our food, so it was an alright experience. I ordered the huevos rancheros, and my husband ordered the salmon omelette. The huevos rancheros had good flavor, but it was a soupy consistency, and I would have benefited from more of the corn tortilla strips. His omelette was average, not bad but not great. We were both given a handmade biscuit, which was delicious. I think that Astoria Coffeehouse & Bistro could be a great place for locals, but as a first-time customer, it wasn’t an experience to brag about.

I have been sitting on this review for a while. Which, now that I write this, I feel I may have been committing a disservice by doing so. But, as you can see by my review history, I am not prone to writing bad reviews. I usually only jump right onto Unilocal to SINGTHEPRAISES! I’m a happy woman, dammit! But my last trip to Astoria Coffee House & Bistro was the nail in the coffin. The FIRST time I went there, I went with a group of folks at the end of our 20 year high school reunion in 2009. We were all looking for a place to continue hanging out, Astoria Coffee House was open, and they were SO gracious. They stayed open a lot later than normal, and we all had our fill of goodies, coffee, and mixed drinks. YAY, happy 38 year olds aplenty. They were really great, and it was so awesome for the husband and I to see a place like this open up in Astoria, our hometown. The second time we went there, a year or so later, was a positive experience as well. They had these puff pastries that were to die for, I don’t recall what else I ate, but it was… fine. The third time we went, it was my husband and I and two other couples. We walked in and stood there. And stood there. There was someone sweeping who glanced up at us… then looked back down at their broom. Ok. Finally a waitress who I can only imagine was having a horrible day, maybe her entire family had just been killed by ninjas, someone ate her cat, I don’t even know, but she looks over and abruptly says, «Yes?» I ask if they are closing early, and she says no. I ask have room for a party of 6. She walks away while says, «Hi. You can see what we have here… and we close soon(in 45 minutes according to the sign)» Ok. Yeah, no thanks. We went elsewhere. So that put a bad taste in all of our mouths, and one of the couples, Astoria residents, refuse to go there again. There are too many great places in Astoria now to put up with that. WELLFINALLY… we decided to go back a few months ago — and, if there is any question yet by my 1 star review and the tone so far… that was the last time we will go back. The husband and I and a friend sat down and, after waiting for an excessive amount of time(seriously, it was excessive I promise), we place our orders. They order their breakfasts, don’t recall what, but both came with their house potatoes. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. When the food finally comes out(again…a bit of a wait, and it wasn’t that busy), it’s just husband’s and friend’s food. She says, I will be right back with yours. Five minutes…10 minutes… seriously? I tell the guys to start eating their food or it will get cold, as they were trying to be polite while STARVING and waiting for me. lol I grabbed one of their potatoes to graze on. It’s completely orange, so I assume it’s seasoning of some sort. No. It’s weird and flavorless. WHYISITORANGE? None of us can figure it out. We tried a few more and gave up. Finally at just shy of 15 minutes, my food comes out. She drops it on the table without any explanation and says, «Here you go.» and leaves. Ok. I glance at it… then I touch part of it with my finger… and it’s cold. …ok. So I pick up my fork to take a bite… and, I’m not sure how I didn’t notice this immediately, but there was a shell. Not a little piece of eggshell… but NEARLYTHEENTIRE top portion of an eggshell. Huge. My first thought is «wtf». My second thought is «Wait…Eggs Benedict is made with poached eggs… how did this even… what?» My husband then points at my plate, and there is a big puddle of raw, runny egg whites. Just chilling out, quivering on my plate like mucous. Cool. Let me just say… I actually don’t mind a little egg white. I don’t. I like my poached eggs super runny, so if there’s a smidge of egg white that didn’t get hard? Whatever. I’m not squeamish. This was… a lot more than a smidge. We finally get the waitress’s attention and I — and I’m laughing a little at this point, I don’t get mean about stuff like this — point out the… the everything. She just looks at me, «So…do you not want it?» !!! I actually start laughing and say, «No…I really don’t. Thank you.» «Do you want me to take it?» ??? «Yes, that would be great.» «Do you want me to have them make another one?» See, at this point, we had been in there for 45 minutes. The guys were done with their food(except the weird orange potatoes), and we were getting ready to head back out of our hometown. DUDESERIOUSLY… I know people have bad days… I know restaurants have off days… But I just… Oh, I should mention that she didn’t offer to take the Benedict off the final bill. No, we won’t be back. Fortunately Astoria has so many cool options right now. This would have bummed me out more in 2009 and prior.
