I went here once in person and the food was bland and quite frankly wasn’t worth the money. I tried this place again this time via delivery and the food took forever to get here(almost an hour) and its a ten minute walk from de mole. Once the food arrived it was lukewarm. The meat was dry and everything was bland. No flavor. The squash blossom quesadilla was gross… Like eating a slug gross. I dislike the way they do their quesadillas. There’s barely any cheese, it’s like a fried taco with crappy iceberg lettuce… I think taco bells tacos were better than these. If they just weren’t so cheap with their ingredients, and they added a bit more flavor I think it would be worth the price. But right now I could cook Mexican food better than this… Please work on the flavors! And stop drying out all the meat. Do not waste your time here… There are many other great places to eat in NYC. I wanted to like this place based on reviews but it’s just not good food.

I’ve always been a fan of De Mole going back to when they first opened their restaurant in Woodside. The Astoria location is a nice space as well featuring an identical menu that treats meat eaters and vegans with equal amount of respect. I started with a Michelada(pronounced like Michelin Star, or your friend Michelle with a la da at the end) where they take a beer of choice, add spiciness and lime in a tall salted rimmed glass. If you like beer and Bloody Mary’s then give it a try. The nachos with chorizo is a generous portion — with a mound of sausage strips resting upon a bed of beans, cheese, guacamole and sour cream. It is all killer and great to share! I prefer to go the a la carte route and getting few different items. I ordered the Flor de Calabaza Quesadilla(Squash Blossom) quesadilla which isn’t as large as a quesadilla sincronizada which use 2 tortilla — it only used one complimented nicely with lettuce, queso blanco and sour cream. I also ordered a couple of tacos — the barbocoa, which here is full flavored slow cooked goat — shredded and tender and the Nopales cactus which reminded me of green pepper strip, but different flavor. The vegan dishes here are not an afterthought like at other Mexican places where they are usually any items that don’t have meat — like beans, tomatoes, lettuce, tortillas, etc. besides the options mentioned above spinach quesadillas, or seitan burritos/fajitas are great options. Whatever you order get the green and red sauces — don’t sleep on the red which has a spicy kick that lasts! To end your meal try the flan which is excellent and creamy — get the coconut version which is especially fantastic!

I never wrote a review before but this is going to be an exception. My tenant decided to order & have food delivered from this place on 6÷14÷16. The delivery guy shows up & my husband is already outside so he tells him he would ring the tenants bell. My husband places his cellphone on the stoop by the front door & proceeds to ring the bell then heads inside the hallway. The delivery guy then decided that hes not only going to deliver the food, take his tip but hes also going to STEAL my husbands cell phone. I guess the camera that I have in front of my door didn’t bother him one bit… I called the establishment & the only thing the owner/manager had to say was that he would send the delivery guy back with my phone. Apparently, where they come from stealing other peoples property is just fine & an every day occurrence. No form of apology was given, I would steer clear from these thieves!!!

The best authentic Mexican food ever! From the ambience to the last drop of my cold Corona light. The staff were also nice and attentive especially Dulce! Prices are not bad either, we ordered nachos with chicken, rice a beans, ceviche and salad end up with tres leche for dessert. Bringing my parents when they come in from Puerto Rico as it is a must go again spot!

What a great spot! I regularly order delivery but decided to dine in this evening. Food is very good! I am surprised to not see more people people here, as del mole is clean, delicious, affordable and has great service! I had the carne asada burrito and my boyfriend had the shrimp burrito(which he said tasted like ceviche) Great for eating in or delivery. Would suggest!

That aint no quesadilla. Really tender flavorful carne… but under-glorified chalupa, at best. Nice goat taco. But a bit dry. Needs crema/guac, which I had, and it was on point after adding that. Nice, filling burritos. Nice delivery guy. Would order again… but not that quesadilla…

I went here with the family on Cinco de Mayo. It was packed, but we were seated fairly quickly. The portions are great for the price. The burrito is gigantic, prepare yourself. I love that they had corn tortillas, but I don’t think they make it themselves. Regardless, great food. Solid choice.

Authentic Mexican hot chocolate, fresh guacamole & chips, amazing cheese tacos, burritos, and quesadilla, I’m simply impressed by this place(plus ½ price compared to Latin restaurant prices in Manhattan)! The servers are super attentive and nice, and this place is romantic with candlelit dinner with not many people. Street parking can be difficult at times, just for your information. I will definitely come back to try other menu!

I’m honestly surprised this place has such good reviews. It was my first time here at the restaurant and my boyfriend and I both got the Fajitas tex-mex style, one with chicken and one with beef($ 13.00). The meals came in large portions(still not worth the $ 13.00) and were pretty filling. As an Indian however, the food tasted pretty bland to me. I literally drenched my food in the red and green sauce they gave. I’ve had fajitas in multiple places, however, the one here might just be the most flavorless one I’ve ever had. Maybe other menu items are better? Not to mention the complementary salsa was just as bland as the food. There was only one other table occupied leaving ours, so the service okay. Don’t think I’ll be coming back and I don’t recommend it to anyone with a complex flavor palette. You should come here if you like bland food.

Brought my boyfriend here for the first time for a date night. I had been to this De Mole way back when it first opened. Always remembered it being solid good mexican. We started with the guacamole which was fresh and delicious. We also ordered the sangria that was tasty. For dinner we ordered the shrimp fajitas and the Carne Asada Encebollada. I hadn’t had steak that juicy and delicious in who knows how long. My boyfriend loved his meal. Each came with rice and tortillas. They also offer options of whole wheat tortillas and brown rice which is great. For dessert we did the chocolate tres leches. It was divine!!! Our waitress was sweet and attentive even though there were only two servers and a about ¾ of the tables were filled. Thats at least 12 tables. Overall great food and service. A must try for delicious mexican food.

De Mole is very, very rad. Wifey and I are both from Chicago, which is without question superior to NY as far as fast-Mexican is concerned. De Mole fills the void in an otherwise barren NY Mexican scene — Case Enrique aside, of course, but that’s a different category. We’ve been ordering the beef burrito with black beans, replacing the flour tortilla for wheat, red rice with brown, and regular sour cream for tofu sour cream. Somehow it retains all the amazing flavors even with the healthy substitutions. Def our go-to Mexican in NY now!

The food was amazing, best I’ve ever had in queens, service was amazing ! Only thing we would change is the drink menu I would of liked to have more drink choices, like a margarita. We both had the Fajitas and they were cooked to perfection. Definitely coming back and recommending it to friends and family

The service was great, the prices are good but the food was average. I went during the lunch time and they said they charge for chips and salsa but after 3pm they’re free. I thought that was a weird rule when every mexican place gives out free chips. I ordered tamales which were fresh but on the dry side and didn’t have enough chicken inside. Fajitas were also fresh but they needed more flavor. Overall an a-ok choice but my quest for good mexican food continues.

My standby for Mexican delivery(and the occasional dine-in), I was initially introduced to their Sunnyside location, which I still frequent. For the prices and portions, you get good stuff. The red sauce enchiladas are usually spicy and delicious but I’ve noticed that every now and then they have an off night: either lacking in the usual flavor… or forgetting the extra sour cream you ordered… or both. Thus 4⁄5 stars. But that coconut flan! LOVE.

I have no complaints about this place. My girlfriend and I ordered on Grubhub one day just off the hip and were pleasantly surprised. She has lived around the block from this place for a few years, and never really stumbled in. However, I am very glad we decided to try them. We normally order over Grubhub, and delivery is pretty efficient. Not much I can say about delivery, I have never had a problem with long waits or wrong orders. I guess I would have to chalk this one up to Grubhub. Still they get points for prompt delivery. I’ve walked by the location many times, but only went in twice. It’s usually pretty empty so finding a table is not an issue. The waitress who helped me spoke perfect English so those people who are afraid of potential language barriers fear not. It was very clean on both occasions, and even t

Tasty Mexican food! Not too greasy, good quality ingredients. Plenty of vegetarian options including a decent seitan burrito, which I am hard pressed to find offered in most Mexican restaurants.

The food here is excellent. You can tell that everything is fresh and made to order. I had the huevos rancheros and it was so yummy. I appreciate the fact that it didn’t put me into a food coma afterwards. The burritos are also huge and affordable. The only negative is that it takes awhile for the food to come out. We were the only ones in the restaurant today at lunch and we waited about 30 minutes for our food after we ordered. I can also see that there would be a substantial wait if it’s peak hours. The restaurant is small and there’s not many tables. I’ll definitely return, just not when it’s crowded.

I have to preface this review by saying we ordered for delivery. I say that because a main criticism was that a lot of this stuff was too dry. Maybe we just didn’t get it fresh, but nonetheless, the food suffered for that reason. The great things about the tacos is the quantity of meat. They’re slightly bigger than your average soft tortilla, cart taco. Each is packed full with huge chunks of meat. The negative about the tacos is they are so dry. The chicken, smoked pork and lamb were all dry. What flavor they had was quickly gone from your tongue, replaced only by cilantro. A whole lime wedge sprayed on top could not save it from the parched makeup. The tamale suffered from the same plight as the meat. It was very flaky and not in a good way but rather a stale one. The enchilada was the best of the meal. Ordered the Rojas con pollos. Rice and white cheese sandwiched generous helpings of meat, onions and beans. It isn’t too spicy, so don’t fear the little spice icon on the menu. Unfortunately, it was still packed with rubbery meat. All that lathered sauce, but you could tell the meat was still suffering from the pitfall of the earlier courses which leads me to believe it wasn’t the delivery that sabotaged the food. I want to give this place another shot, but I did not enjoy much outside of the enchilada.

If you enjoy Mexican food with quality ingredients and flavor you can’t go wrong with this place. Their guacamole is really good and their tacos are delicious. The pork and pineapple taco is incredible. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Astoria. Would recommend this place for sure

Two words: amazing experience! The food tastes delicious, the décor looks terrific, the service rates an A+. You can’t get better than this place. I love how the place uses plants as decorations. It makes the restaurant feel more like home. I like the ambience here. We go to the one in Sunnyside. We love it. This one in Astoria, probably serves better food. I like how the chef prepares the De Mole salad with tiger shrimp — more spices, and it tastes terrific. The shrimp tastes better marinated. I like the location of this restaurant. Located in a quiet neighborhood on 30th ave, you can take a leisure walk after you eat. Nothing wrong with enjoying life after eating at De Mole.

I’ve been to the original Sunnyside location and loved it. De Mole Astoria also did not disappoint! I actually think it’s better. The food here is just as good as in the Sunnyside location, though I noticed that the burritos are bigger here. Score! The steak nachos and shrimp caesar salad are consistently delicious between both locations. The complimentary chips and salsa are always a hit. The waitress was very sweet and attentive — she came over a bunch of times to make sure we were taken care of. Now, what makes me think this location is better than Sunnyside? 1) The restaurant is probably double, if not triple, the size. There’s definitely a lot more wiggle room and the tables aren’t on top of each other. 2) This place serves alcohol! The sangria tinto came in a cute pitcher. Though I thought it had a little too much ice, it hit the spot. There was plenty of fruit in it that did not go unappreciated! Can’t wait to try a margarita here. 3) Not sure if it was just my experience, but finding parking seemed a lot easier here rather than near the Sunnyside location. All in all, I love De Mole Astoria and can’t wait to return. I can’t even begin to express how happy I am that this establishment is in the neighborhood! PS. Can we talk about the Mexican Hot Chocolate? Heaven in a mug. That’s all.
