Gothic Cabinet Craft

I only give ONE STAR because I can not give ZERO STARS. I have two very nice captains beds that I have purchased over the years. This morning one of the drawer faces came loose. I called the Steinway St location for information on where to take it for repair. SO RUDE. I was told by a woman that would not give her name, that there was nothing I could do with out a receipt. The bed is at least 8 years old… who keeps a receipt for that long! (Which speaks to the quality of GOTHIC’S product… two thumbs up… Over 8 years no issues!) Then she said that it would be a $ 45 charge for service to come out. Then an additional charge for the repair and delivery. Since I have already had my king size cut down and re assembled to fit in my new apartment, I knew the repair shop was local. I explained that I had a car and could take the drawer in myself. She told me NO… it doesn’t work that way and I had to call for a service appointment. When I asked for a Manager she gave me a number for Ruby, offsite but very helpful. When I asked for her name she said «What’s your name?»…I told her and then she HUNG UP. I called Ruby back and she advised me the RUDE woman was named SAMANTHA… I called GOTHIC SHOWROOM and REPAIR CENTER and spoke to STEVE! FABULOS! He said no problem… just drop it off and I’ll call you when it is ready for pick up! What is so difficult about that? SAMANTHA… YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILL ARE NON EXISTENT. What are you getting commission on repairs??? I am awaiting a call from the DISTRICT MANAGER NICK. I am sure he would like to know how well SAMANTHA is performing. Samantha YOU make me want to NEVER purchase from GOTHIC again…

I stopped by this place looking to see if they had rugs I could order since it was a furniture store. I stood in front of a (blondish) woman who was on the phone and she did not seem to notice me. I said, «Excuse me do you sell rugs?» She was so rude and said «What?» I repeated myself twice, as if she never heard of a furniture store selling rugs. Then she said «Does it look like we sell rugs?». I left and never looked back.
AVOID!

They don’t have a basement anymore, the floor models are now on the 2^nd floor «showroom». Which, oh by the way, doesn’t have working lights. I felt like I was about to be murdered when I walked up the creaking stairs to look through a dark room of cluttered, scratched up furniture.
The pricing for the floor model «as is» furniture was also only about $ 20 less than what Victors Villas had quoted me for new furniture, and delivery pricing was $ 40 and up (whereas Victors offered free delivery and setup!!).
I had been excited to check out Gothic after I had perused their website the night before, but my actual experience with them was sorely lacking.
Yeah… thanks but no thanks. I also walked in at their lunch hour (around 2pm on a Saturday), so they barely looked at me when I walked in. And walked out.

Would you like to buy a floor model? There are tons of samples in our basement, you know where they filmed parts of Saw 3. Dont worry, some sand paper and a barometric chamber will clean that strange fungus right up.
This is actually one of the best furniture stores on steinway which says about as much about steinway as it does gothic. If youre careful with what you order and how its finished you can get some decent quasi-​modern furniture. A lot of it is kind of country for my taste and expensive. $ 150 for a plain wooden headboard? I mean that like almost $ 40 per cut. Anyway, i know, I know it’s solid wood. Big whoop, if youre shopping here, youre gonna sell it on craiglist list anyway the minute you get that big money job and can afford west elm.

Really helpful sales people, and all of my furniture was delivered in 2 weeks. A team of delivery men came and assembled everything in about 10 minutes. Really great quality stuff, for not that much more than Ikea.

i am going to go with 3 stars for right now, since my furniture has yet to be delivered. so i could sway either way at this point.
so, we have been on a mission for an armoire. a piece of furniture that is actually made of rel wood, not MDF and is less than a grand is a rare gem these days. we search high and low (like 3 other stores, i am dramatic). within 5 minutes of entering Gothic Cabinet, we found the missing puzzle piece. our new armoire. yay. hanging space and drawers. real wood! the gentleman was nice and willing to knock a few bucks off the price. delivery was only 35 bucks even when we added a second piece of furniture. the only thing questionable was the guy not wanting full payment — you know, just in case. like he doesn’t trust his own people. hah — we shall see.
