This is my only review because I had such a great experience I had to share it. I recently moved to New York and was searching for a cheap mattress with an allowance of 250 dollars my mother had given me to purchase one. I spoke to Margaret who showed me a few mattresses but I liked none as much as the memory foam mattress she showed me. That mattress sold for 399 and therefore was out of my price range. I explained to her I could only afford 250 dollars worth and she said none of the mattresses in stock sold for less than 300 dollars. Then she said she would see what she could do and she was actually able to lower the price to 277 dollars with tax included! I was so ecstatic and grateful, she even said that she gave up her commission to give me such a low price. Overall my experience was extremely satisfying, I highly recommend this location to anyone and Margaret was the friendliest and best salesperson I have ever come across.

Had a great experience here buying a new mattress. Gus was wonderful– spent plenty of time showing us different options based on what features were important to us, but never pressured or tried to steer us to the priciest mattresses. He was also very funny and professional. The purchase and delivery were easy and pain-free.
If you’re looking for a new mattress, head here and ask for Gus!

My wife and I needed a new King sized bed to ship along with our other posessions for a relocation to Brazil. We know we will not find the quality and selections there and that the buying experience would be much more complicated as most things are outside the US.
Some years ago I purchased my current bed from Sleepys in Bayside, so in we went. We were greeted by the store Rep. and had his undivided attention. Kostas Angelopoulos was filling in for this location as he usually is in the Astoria store. Our good fortune! He knows his product well. He matched a price from Macys and with the Memorial Day sale just ending did additional discounts. Also, Serta has a special pillow and sheet promotion. We did very well with Kosta’s help.
So a shout out to Mr. Angelopoulos for giving us something good to sleep on in Brazil. I am sure it will make a lot of people envious and wanting to spend the night, lol.

Holy high-pressured sales tactics, batman.
Other than that, bought a mattress during the labor day sale. Tested out some beds (which is super weird to do, some dude’s watching you as you’re trying to get comfy?) and found something that worked. Could have done without the sales pitch. Really made me not want to buy a bed at all. But I absolutely needed a new bed, so there you have it.
The mattress came and the delivery guys were as efficient as hell and set up our new bed quickly and took out the old bed just as fast. Ta da!

I went in on Sunday July 3 and was pleasantly greeted by Kosta (Gus) Angelopoulos. He spent a lot of time with me and answered all of my questions. He even researched the type of mattress I wanted and suggested a great memory foam one that was inexpensive ($ 300), unlike the other available foam ones (starting at $ 500 or higher). He also got it delivered next day, on the July 4^th holiday. Gus was very accommodating and friendly. If you need a mattress and go to this location, definitely deal with Gus!

I don’t have a problem with Sleepy’s in general, but whatever you do, don’t deal with this location. Debbie is a troll. She lied to us about several things, including delivery costs and supposed freebies (like pillows) which were then never included with the delivery. I would’ve sent the mattress back and refused delivery of it if I weren’t so desperate for a bed. As it was, I was in a situation where I didn’t really have a choice *but* to accept the substandard order.

Salesperson came across as sleezy and I found their delivery fee to be wildly expensive (almost $ 100 after taxes), but I got my selected mattress next day and setup for me in my place. Sleepy’s is at least guaranteed bedbug free, which is a necessary comfort in NYC.

OK so the dude who sold us the mattress was great. We like Gus. Gus is ok. But it took a VERY long time to get this mattress. We paid them in late January and they just told us that if we don’t pay to have it delivered we have to wait a whole additional week. PLUS– the worst part about this experience was that whenever I called to find out if the mattress was there two separate employees– Candy and Deborah told me that they were too busy to take my call and hung up on me. They should re-make the song «CALL Sleepy’s and get hung up oooooon». I would like to point out that they seemed mad at the idea that any customer would you know… call them. WEIRD!!!
My advice– try someplace else if the mattress you want is not available right there when you go in. Also don’t believe them when they say that you can pick up the mattress yourself to avoid delivery fees not unless you want to wait a month for your rather large purchase.
