I love the chocolate croissants and the italian cookies. I gave 4 stars because they dont accept credit cards!

They have great bread and rolls! However, there is a woman that is tall with short dark hair, dark eyes she works there as a baker and is extremely rude. A few times she ignored me and would not even assist me with placing my Holiday order for Thanksgiving. She is a very angry and extremely rude person when I confronted her she went insane and she pointed her finger at me and spoke very abnoxious she even followed me outside when I left the bakery and continued screaming in the street as I pulled away in my car. The boss was not there and I noticed he not there to often so he does not really see what is going on most of the time. He seems to hire many people that do not speak well and this woman most likely works there and is paid off the books.

A great, neighborhood-y bakery. I love their assortment of cookies! Service is fast.

5 stars! This is a REAL bakery, not a mock bakery that you buy bread at in a ie… key food, or trade fair. You can see the bead machines in the back! For $ 1, you can get four really tasty fresh rolls, fresh coffee, and pastires!!! The sweet bread is good too. They are open early, and start baking for the next day at 9pm at night, as I live right behind it!

A pretty conventional bakery that you find all over Astoria and sometimes you need boring and conventional as a break of all the wonderful artisan bakeries with their overloaded goodness. The latter bakeries are sensory overloads. The goods from Island Bakery will definitely win no culinary contests, but they’re decent, cheap, and reminiscent of butter cookies from your childhood. For this reason, I like to stop by Island Bakery and buy a few cookies for a snack. The cookies are bite-size and perfect for having with coffee when you just want a little something.

I can stick with the three stars. Island Bakery is one many cookie cutter bakeries that are littered all over this city. They claim that all baking is done on the premises and the price is cheap so I have no problem stopping in for a loaf of italian bread whenever i need it. It’s nothing exceptional, and during the holidays they often make up gift baskets, and each year around Christmas time we’ll get one of those for our land lord(although I’ve never eaten any cookies from there myself).

Island Bakery lies five(5) blocks from where we live and is a welcome place for a short walk and croissants. My husband loves the flaky and buttery goodness of the croissants. On week-ends, Island Bakery make zucchini pie and focaccia(with tomatoes and olives) which are quite wonderful and are always a welcome addition to brunch especially when friends are coming over.
