If you check in on Unilocal you are supposed to get a free shot, but one bartender(the girl with the long blond hair and bad attitude) did not want to honor the coupon stating that you had to purchase a drink first despite the deal not saying that. Fortunately, there was a more reasonable bartender who honored the coupon(girl with short hair) who gave us our free shot for checking in. Because of her we stayed and bought two more drinks, whereas we were very tempted to leave after our interaction with the first bartender. On Saturdays you have to buy a drink(the cheapest drink is $ 3 — nonalcoholic) to buy a ticket to drink, which cost $ 2. Anyways, despite the small hiccup we had a great time singing in the bar.

BEWARE!!! First I want to state this place is so bad I had to Unilocal it and I have never done this before in my life… Came here for a party the other night and was over charged on both the room and drinks added on to the bill .make sure you keep a record other wise they will take you as a fool. If you want to be robbed this is the place for you and not a manager in sight to talk to, also tried calling to complain and got no answer back by the looks at the reviews on here we are not the first for this to happen to !!!

I love to sing & I’ve been to a lot of karaōke places. I went with my fellow Unilocalers after the uye event. We had this big room that fit all of us. Room is not sound proof. When you go outside the lobby you hear peoples voice singing. Its big & have 2 tv. To select a song they have this ipad system. Its pretty cool! But the place is not that well maintained. The place & furnitures looks old. The good thing about it is they have this pitcher of beer for $ 9. What?! really cheap! And if you check in on Unilocal they give you a free shot. Overall, the important thing is I had fun singing & dancing with cool people!

I’m a Karaōke pro. I’ve been to quite a few lounges, bars and venues and have been wanting to visiting Karaōke Shout for a few years now. The poor reviews kept me away. I came here for today’s Unilocal UYE after party and we kicked things off pretty quickly here. Staff was nice and service was good. The first thing that came to mind was that this place needs a renovation. The rooms are spacious but crummy. Terrible furniture. This is also not a B.Y.O.B. However the beer pitchers we had on tap, were pretty good. One thing that I did appreciate was that the IPad system was simple to use and their system had quality sound. There were no corny background vocals or music. For what it’s worth our party of(15?) had a blast and rocked out to updated song selections and without technical issues. We were able to sing and shout in peace and that made for a time well spent.

I’ve recently become a regular at Karaōke Shout. It is the best karaōke experience that I’ve found in NYC. They have private rooms at affordable rates, and a main bar area in which you can sing for a small fee per song(Free karaōke on Mondays). The staff is amazing, friendly as can be, super-efficient and very talented vocally. In fact, the average patron in Shout is well above average, talent-wise, it’s truly a place to showcase your talent and enjoy other people’s music. It could be intimidating to someone new to the karaōke scene, so I’d advise some practice in the private rooms before rocking out in the bar area, however the crowds are generally very forgiving, so not much to worry about. The ambiance of the place is wonderful too, not too large, basically cozy, and the bathrooms have amazing sink fixtures, very cool! I’ve met alot of new friends there, and I’d really rate it as the best karaōke bar in the city, parking is usually available(sometimes you need to park a block or two away on a weekend, but that’s unusual).

I absolutely love this place! Been coming here for a few years now. Any day of the week is awesome. If you want privacy, the private room accommodations are wonderful, comfortable couches, big screens and adjustable sound system, where you can sing an unlimited amount of songs for the time you rent. The rates are very very reasonable. Or you can join the crowd in the bar area, where everyone is friendly and cheers you on. The drink specials are great. And you can’t beat the song rates at the bar. It’s a great place to bring the family for a big party, any age before 8pm. I’ve never left there without feeling like a star. My only minor complaint is that I wish they’d update their songs more often. You can usually find the artist you want, but not the song you want to sing by them, whether old or current.

This place gets a little crazy as it gets late, which is probably not a bad thing. They have Zero food, but they allow delivery — best feature other than the karaōke in my opinion — think Mama’s empanandas across the street!

I’m no expert when it comes to karaōke bars but I wasn’t a big fan of this place. It seemed a bit disorganized and the main section it’s pretty small. We got one of the large rooms in the back which was great for our group and we were there a lot longer than we set out to but hey once you start singing it’s hard to stop. I did like all of the song options they had and that they didn’t have the old school binders but iPads to search for your songs and use as a remote.

Literally sitting here with one broken amp or something. The audio is so ridiculously bad, I asked for help but I guess I’m making this up because the guy sees nothing wrong. I explained the vocals won’t turn on and even played the same song they were playing outside so he could see, and he got upset saying not all songs have vocals… Okay but. You’re playing the same song with vocals outside. Now we’re on the 4th song on the top list(2nd they played up front with vocals) and nothing just background music. Now we’re just sitting here after paying for an hour with weird ass music playing and not enjoying this at all. Now the pad isn’t even responding. What a waste.

A lot has changed over the years in Astoria, especially along Steinway where new businesses are popping up all the time. Karaōke Shout came onto the scene only a handful of years ago and has adjusted right along with the hood’s constant changes. Yet in the midst of it all, it still remains the only karaōke bar of its kind in western Queens. Noraebang, in all of its private room singing glory was at one point the only kind of karaōke offered here. The rooms are still relatively decent, though there has been some wear and tear from years of use. Sound system wise, I’ve had better results in the smaller rooms than the bigger ones. Newcomers will appreciate the digital system via iPad, though the song selection has experienced some adjustments(karaōke champ system to propriety system) to where I now search for songs online: (There is also a mobile app one can download as well). Nowadays, the lobby space has been converted into a public karaōke area. Though small, it’s been a hit with the local crowd. The bartenders are essentially the KJ and songs cost a $ 1 per song on the weekdays and $ 2 on the weekends. Enjoy free songs on Monday nights, which is worth it for a solid happy hour evening. The rates are still relatively the same, $ 4 a person before 8pm and then $ 8 a person for private room usage. Ballers can rock the open bar package, which starts at $ 35 a person for 2 hours of songs and beer, wine, and house liquor. The bartenders are a friendly bunch and the pricing for drinks/bottles are standard for Manhattan/Western Queens. Do seek out the daily specials which range from $ 5 – 15 depending on the deal. I like the Tuesday $ 5 sangria/mojitos and the Monday $ 5 beer + shot specials the most. Most folks who are looking to channel their karaōke spirit will find a(vastly more Asian) scene in Flushing, but Karoake Shout does a quality job of standing out along Steinway’s eclectic bizes.

Better to get a room than try to get a song at the bar unless you are willing to be a big tipper(20+). I came here for my 29th birthday last year and as an avid Karaōke singer was definitely happy with the song choices and how easy it was to select them on the iPad. I was able to bring in a cake and some snacks as well as order pizza which is always great! I was not aware of the fact that if you have someone under 21 in the room all of the folks were not allowed to drink in the room. Hence, I felt sad a lot of my guests spend most of their time at the bar than in the room with me since my 19 year old niece was there. I left a birthday present at the bar and called immediately after to ask if they could save it for me or call the next day if they found/didn’t find it. No one ever called so I stopped by and was told that it might have gotten«thrown out». I was pretty bummed since it was more about the sentimentality of it than the actual present. I have gone back a couple of times just to the bar and realize that if you don’t tip highly you don’t get your song played and even then the wait is long, so if you really have your heart set on singing GET A ROOM! It’s the only real Karaōke place in Astoria with a vast selection so it is hard not to go back…

I’ve been going to Shout for the last three years with my best friend. It was my absolute favorite place — great vibes all around, but over the last several months I have been unable to land a private room despite signing the list and getting here before 11pm. It’s annoying that you write your name on a list w/your phone number & never get called on despite being inside the place. It’s also annoying to see groups come out of the place and others keep getting rooms before you even though their group is just as small. Don’t know why phone numbers are requested if I never get notifications of availability. Won’t be coming back.

I’ve been here a few times. The private rooms are small but they have a nice set up. You get to choose from a variety of songs which you search and select on an ipad. The song selection was large, up to date and they had songs in different languages. My group stayed for a few hours so our total was a lot. It was a nice experience, just pricey on that particular day. Karaōke at the bar was not so pleasant. My friends put in their songs and they were pushed back several times while the two guys bartending sang their hearts out to a couple of songs. We had to wait so long!

I absolutely love Karaōke but rarely go to karaōke nights at bars. Waiting hours to sing one song in front of a bunch of drunk strangers isn’t really my cup of tea. I much prefer karaōke night out at places like Karaōke Shout, where you can reserve a private room for you and your friends. Unlike in Koreatown, Karaōke at Karoke Shout is all in English :) They use tablets to conveniently select songs to sing(and you can’t accidentally change it all into Korean by pressing the wrong button – oops!). Private karaōke is the greatest thing ever if you like singing and having fun with your friends. At Karaōke Shout, the staff is great and quickly answer your call if you buzz them to your private room for assistance or ordering drinks. They actually have a lot of private rooms in different sizes. This place is really popular, so if you’re going on a weekend evening, I’d definitely suggest making reservations. I kind of wish I still lived in Astoria so I could go here all the time…

The bartenders aren’t always the warmest folks, but with horrible singing/screaming and being forces to listen to Uptown Funk 12 times a day for five months straight, I probably wouldn’t be so merry, either. The drinks also aren’t great, you definitely need to pregame or go to another bar first. The environment is chill. No one judges you no matter how bad you sing. This place is fun. I love it.

Terrible service. We arrived in a group of five to rent a room for karaōke. Our name and number was put on a list so we would be notified of the next available room. We received the call and jetted back only to have the room taken under our nose since it was impossible to get service to any attention regarding this. Twenty minutes just to get a reservation on the list and another twenty trying to get service but being ignored while other groups are given attention instead. When wet finally did get their attention we were told«one second» as the server divided her attention instead with the bar and singing along with a. patron

PLEASEREAD and be WARNED!!! I was recently there for my bachorlette party with my friends/family, group of 9 including me. My maid of honor & I got there earlier so she can decorate the room. One of the workers scolded us for making a mess. We told him we were willing to clean up afterwards. First of all the AC in the room was broken, the room was filthy and it had an awful smell. The bathroom was very dirty, especially the toilets. However, another worker told us the remote for AC was stolen.(They were claiming that a customer stole the remote, why would a customer take the remote when the ac is attached to the wall??? That didnt make much sense.) They were trying to fix it but they didnt know what they were doing. We made the rsvp at 8pm, we didnt start until 8:30 — 8:45pm and an hour later they bring us an old fashoned/filled with dust air fan which didn’t help us at all. The room was literally hot like a sauna and we were sweating! Common courtesy is to offer us another room with a working AC or not charge us for that room bc we were all hot!!! we were being kind and didn’t say anything we didn’t exchange our rooms we were in room 8 the whole time. We were left with a big lump some bill over $ 700. Mind you, we were there from 8:30 — 1:30am, 9 ppl including me, most of my friends went up to the bar for drinks and they charged us additional rooms we didn’t use and gratuity bill over $ 80. We didnt get a lot of drinks and all my friends paid for there own. I had a great time until I saw the bill. I was literally gonna make a scene but I didnt, which I should of complained. I called them but it went straight to voice mail left a msg, no one called me back! If they don’t help us dispute this charge, I will have to report them to consumer affairs unfortunately. We were wrongly charged!!! Please do NOT go there!!! They are after your wallet, not your great time!!! Oh and fyi: the guy who charged us on the cashier was obviously drunk and he didn’t know what he was doing. MYFIRSTTIMEGOINGTHEREANDNEVERGOINGBACK!!!

Been here a few times and it’s good if you’re going with a group and getting a private room. I definitely would not go to drink and sing in their main room/bar. Seems like there are a bunch of weirdos. The price is mediocre but they have a pretty good song selection. Even foreign songs too!

I am writing a review on my experience that I had one Saturday night at this establishment. Hmm where to start? I went there for a bachelorette party. We were told that they did not ID until 1030 but we were there at 10 and there was a bouncer at the door. The manager(owner, i don’t know) in a cowboy hat and clearly drunk says none of you are getting in. Well we had a little argument at the door because only one of us were underage(the bride to be’s little sister) so he did us that favor and got us in. The décor upon entering was crowded, dingy and looked unkept. I’ve been to a bunch of karaōke places and this one looked like the subway station down the block with how dirty it was. No toilet tissue in the bathroom, everything was just gross. We pay $ 43/person for 2 hours open bar and a room which was great. The music selection was a little dry(no current songs) and the b roll for the songs were laughable. During the 2 hours there we did have a good time but when the time was up, they came in flashing lights like they were SWAT and kicked us out! Don’t go here based on the customer service alone!

Very small rooms. Not very well ventilated. It gets hot in any room very quickly. We were given a really small room for 6 people. The equipment is updated and service is good, though. Had a great time with a huge group. This place is a 21 and over since there’s a bar here. They do take credit cards and they do serve food here. My first check-in, i got a free shot. I thought that was awesome. I ended up giving that to the b’day girl! I gave this place a 3 because, even though the place was dark-lit, i can still tell how simple and dingy the place looked. The rooms for smaller groups are REALLY small, and the rooms get really hot fast. It’s hard to find parking, and they do take credit cards. I do, still, recommend this place.

Before I went to Karaōke Shout for my friend’s birthday last night, I had started drafting a 5-star review based on my memories of it from years past. Needless to say with two stars now knocked off, the present reality doesn’t hold up. For a few years after it first opened, everything was kept clean and looking like new. The song reservations via iTouch were revolutionary compared to other karaōke options throughout the city. The prices for both drinks and karaōke were relatively cheap and room service was good. Today the song list is still great and the reservation system is still one of the best I’ve seen in the city(seriously Duet, etc, when are you going to update and catch up?), but there’s been seemingly no maintenance done to the interior at all recently. The bathrooms feel almost divey because of how gross the stalls are. Prices are still good: $ 16 pp for about 2hrs covering 14 people inc tax/tip from 7:15 — 9:30 on a Saturday(should note though that some folks came later and we were paying for a 15th so this isn’t exactly reflective of overall pricing per person). But service was a little wanting at the beginning of the night with only one person managing both the rooms plus the bar. It’s still a totally fair karaōke spot compared to competitors, but it used to be one of the best. Karaōke Shout, please clean up your bathrooms, adjust your lighting, and put some fresh paint up and you’ll be at least 90% of the way to 5 stars again with very little effort!

–I beez in the trap, be-beez in the trap. And that’s exactly how I felt after a night at Karaōke Shout. –After a few libations, okay maybe more than a handful, I finally had the courage to pick up the mic(you’ve got to appreciate my clintonesque attitude). Here’s the thing I don’t really sing, I only rap. So I was more than elated to find a decent selection of rap songs; old school classics, and new hits too. If you’re into country, 80’s hits, they have all of that too. –Our group opted for a private room. Now renting a private room for karaōke isn’t a foreign concept to me, but it certainly boosts your courage especially when you’re ready to go h.a.m. Obviously, I think we all did that night. You have the option of using either the touchscreen media device on the wall or handheld device to set up the song queue. Though it can get a bit challenging when you’re doing the romney. The system they use makes it easier to bump up the better songs. –I can’t recall most of the songs we sang, whether we were standing or seated, but I remember the sofa being comfortable. I definitely enjoyed the lap dance I got that night, and I didn’t even have to pay extra. –It was a spectacular night with an amazing group of people, I’ll be back for sure! Thanks Karaōke Shout :)

The spot looks better from da outside… The interior photos on Unilocal are definitely outdated! You can either chill by the bar & karaōke or rent a room $ 8 bucks a individual for a hour. The private rooms needs updating, it definitely has seen better days. When chilling by the bar u get to mingle with the locals over horrible, but entertaining impressions of karaōke! Overall friendly environment just to chill out & let loose, channel your inner Mariah or that Eminem flow! FYI: There is a full bar with a Free Shot when u Check-In.

Ok, let me start off by saying that every karaōke experience I’ve had before coming here has been strictly limited to private rooms.(I admit, my singing voice isn’t that great and I didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of strangers.) But one night, my friends and I spontaneously decided to go for it at the bar in Karaōke Shout. They have an app that you can download to quickly look up song codes instead of flipping through their giant books! Which I suggest doing, because it makes everything much more convenient. For 8:30pm, it was almost empty but within the hour it started to fill up. By 10:30, it was packed! Great atmosphere and crowd. Everyone was incredibly supportive, clapped and cheered us on after every song despite some of our selections being a bit obscure. $ 2/song isn’t bad, either, especially when there are two mics and you can duet with a friend. Drink prices were very reasonable, as well — I recommending sharing pitchers. And don’t forget to check in on Unilocal for your free shot! Had sooo much fun, and will definitely be returning soon and recommending to my friends. :)

Called about the place first to see the rates and stuff. The lady was very knowledgeable, friendly answered all my questions. Place easy to find. When we walked in, it was nicely decorated with Halloween decorations, a bar on the left and the main lounge for general karaōke if you don’t want a private room. A guy checked our id’s first since you have to be 21 and over. We got a private room for a party of 5. It is important to know and ask to clarify your rates about rooms because you may misunderstand. It goes by per person per hour. Our party of 5 is $ 50 per hour so it was like $ 10 per person but that includes tax and tip but doesn’t include drinks. I personally thought it was very reasonable especially on a Friday night compared to other karaōke bars. The private rooms were fairly small, it literally just fit the 5 of us, LITERALLY. But I liked it since it makes it more personal. There’s two song books. Reserving the songs is touch screen rather than your traditional putting in numbers using the remote. I would say a good majority of their songs are recent like beyonce’s drunk in love to Sia’s chandelier. They don’t have a lot of old school cheesy love songs that i traditionally look for but that’s a personal preference. I think singing old love songs of Steve Perry and air supply songs is just the Filipino in me. Sound system was pretty good. The microphones we had smelled bad coz of saliva but we informed them and got new disinfected microphones that didn’t smell which was awesome. Drinks were affordable. Tip: when you check in here on Unilocal, you get a free shot. The crowd here is mostly middle to late 20s and up. We really enjoyed it here. before we knew it, it was 2 hours already. Very lively and casual environment. Very cool hangout happy hour let’s drink and chill spot. Place is casual, not fancy. Overall, awesome. Definitely will come back when I come to new York again and definitely recommend!
