This bar is fantastic. A perfect local scene. An attentive and fun bar team, backed up by delicious food. There is always something fun going on. Be it a fight night, board games, sports, local beers; anything you want to unwind with friends. .. Is here!

I came here for trivia night through Astoria Social, and had a good time. The place is spacious, which is nice, and the drinks were fairly priced. They have classic board games, which is cool if you want a low-key night with friends outside of the apartment. Docking two stars though because the bartender there was terrible — she couldn’t tell us what type of beer the mysteriously labeled«z beer» was, didn’t know the wifi password, and was busy taking shots with people(and giving others the wrong drink) to take our order. There’s no kitchen here, but you can bring food in. Would consider giving it more stars if they got rid of that bartender(wish I caught her name) and, if the rumors are true, added a kitchen(I hear it’s on the way).

I’ve passed by this place several times a day, everyday for months now. I’ve always looked at it but never felt compelled to actually go in and check it out myself. Wasn’t sure if this would be a sketchy spot or not so I finally stopped in and I’m glad I did! Firstly it’s a lot bigger than it appears from the front due to a wall that is visible from the front door… Walk past the wall and there is an entire back area. As a previous post mentioned, there are a bunch of board games available such as: topple, battleship, jenga, connect 4, operation, hungry hippos, etc. And since this bar is off the beaten track it attracts locals which also means it’s not packed even on a Saturday night which makes for a nice low key night. The drinks were very fairly priced, for two top shelf drinks it came out to $ 18 which is awesome for New York. As for the owner and staff? They were super friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The vibe I got from them was that they want you to be a regular and make Z-bar your official neighborhood bar. Ok, and they’re only two blocks away? Yeah I can definitely get down with a bar where everybody knows your name. I’ll be around Z-bar!

A hidden jem just a short walk from the N train(Astoria Blvd stop). They have pretty much every board game imaginable and card against humanity. Very nice bartenders and Jell-O shots! A big back room and outdoor area, along with a dart board. They have karaōke Wednesday nights and Trivia on Tuesday nights run by Astoria Social which is always a great time(with some very top notch prizes. The owners are extremely nice and the bar should have a kitchen in the very near future! A really up and coming spot in Astoria!
