I come all the way to Astoria from manhattan to get my nails done here with Tracy. I absolutely love the way she does my nails… And when I say«my nails» I mean I love the way she does acrylic tips or permanent french. If you tell her you want your nails filed or shaped a certain way, she will make sure you get what you want. I’ve been coming here solely on appts. I usually create my next appt before I leave. Many of the people that come here are regulars. Tracy has people coming to her for yearsss. I, personally, have only been going for about 3 years. But the fact that there are so many regulars says a lot about the establishment and the quality of the work. More so because the salon is not fancy or modern. But don’t get discouraged, nail service here is affordable and worth it! They have tons of Essie colors and tons of different brands of gel. They also keep up with new trends which is a plus, and they are super nice and attentive. Hey, even the clientele is friendly. Anyway, I actually have an appointment with Tracy in 2 hours! Gotta hurry and get ready! I’m gettin my nails did! Bye ;-)

They do a mediocre job but i only go here because dahlia nails up the block is always more crowded. The ladies here are also very slow and they dont really massage you when you are getting a pedicure. Also the water is always cold!

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Water was cold, place seemed dirty, no hot towel, no massage. Would not recommend to anyone

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the lack of suffocating smells I’ve experienced at many other nail salons. Plus, the place was sparkling clean and bright. I arrived before the post-work rush so I didn’t have to wait for my mani-pedi. The employees are extremely friendly and pleasant, and remember you if you come back. I usually do my own nails but I liked my results so much that I may trek to Astoria more often to do them here!

Didn’t like this place. No back massage while drying, no hands massage during mani, no hot towel, no proper nail polish application.

This place is filthy and unsanitary. The prices aren’t worth the diseases you can get here — this place ruined my nails. The employees are rude on top of everything. Do. Not. Go. Here.

I went to Rainbow Nails for the first time today because I needed to get a manicure and pedicure for a wedding that I’m attending this weekend. I picked the location only because it’s right in my neighborhood, and I didn’t have time to go to Eve’s(on 30th Avenue) which is my normal go-to(and amazing!) place. Sorry, Rainbow, I’m never coming back here again. I walked into the salon and told the salon owner(or whoever she was) that I would like a manicure and pedicure. She smiled and did the passive-aggressive, «Oh, you would like your eyebrows done too, yes?» Yes, I was aware that my brows aren’t in tip-top shape(but I have a favorite threading salon in the city), but these snide comments to garner extra business really annoy me. I can never understand why salon workers would try to make their customers feel bad. Fiona led me to a chair and started working on my feet. I was grossed out(for her) to see that she was not wearing gloves at ANY point while working on me. What kind of salon is this? My feet are pretty clean(at least I think so), but to know that the salon owner cares so little for their employees’ well-being that he or she would not mandate that they wear gloves says a lot about the place. Also, there was no indication that any of the tools had just been cleaned(unlike Eve’s where you see the salon workers open new packages). I know I should’ve probably walked out but I was pressed for time. Fiona was a competent enough worker(I suppose) even though she didn’t speak to me at any point(to be fair, I think some salon workers don’t want to overstep any boundaries if they think a client doesn’t want to chat), but the worst part was when she asked me how much tip I wanted to leave on my credit card. «Five,» I said clearly(it was $ 20 total for the manicure and pedicure, but I always feel guilty for not tipping well). When she came back(after cleaning my hands but before she actually polished my nails), she had charged SIX dollars. I have no idea how«five» translates to «six» and I probably should’ve said something but somehow I felt sorry for her since she was under the hawk-eye of the salon owner. I wonder whether this is some sort of bogus scheme that they’re running(since they probably realize that most clients won’t say anything about a measly dollar but obviously this adds to a lot). Again, I should’ve said something but I didn’t want her to do less of a good job on my nails and I still didn’t want her to get into trouble whether or not she was urged to do this. To top it all off, there is a non-existent magazine selection. I mean, seriously? I am never returning to Rainbow Nails. I’ll trek it out to Eve’s. Also, I am ONLY tipping in cash in the future. Ugh!
