Expensive for Sangria, but tastes pretty good. Atmosphere is great, and staff is really nice. We even were able to get some free sangria tastings! I just wish my wallet didn’t cry after looking at the bill.

When designing Sangria’s, I don’t doubt that the owners were going for a modern, minimalistic and retro feel. In my opinion, they missed the mark. The seating at the bar is extremely awkward and uncomfortable. I’m of average height and weight and felt like I was always struggling onto or off of the bar stool. The tables and other seating are unique, but ultimately, a poor choice for a venue attempting to get people comfy enough to settle in, relax and throw back a few drinks. The outdoor area, however, is a plus, especially in warmer months when people are always looking for anything al fresco. The classic red sangria, their namesake, is just OK. The rest of their fruitier sangrias are too sweet, in my opinion. Think twice if you’re in the habit of ordering your drinks neat or on the rocks: you’re in for a stingy pour. If you’re going during happy hour, it’s clearly a better deal, but that can be said of most of Sangria’s neighboring competitors as well. Food is slightly above average typical pub fare, and prices for light bites and meals are fair. The bartenders, however, are very nice and extremely friendly. They try their best to be inviting, informative and helpful. But, while I appreciated their efforts and enjoyed their conversation, Sangria’s doesn’t offer up enough to make it a regular haunt or a favorite in a neighborhood with as many options as Astoria.

We came here either a Saturday or a Sunday night so it was pretty empty. We got a very friendly dude waiter. He offered us a sampler of sangrias and let us blind test ‘em. Great stuff! My boyfriend liked the cranberry one, while I liked the cider one. I think we have sweet teeth or something. Anyway, loved their sangrias, their jalapeño poppers and their wings were also pretty good. Don’t expect a tapas place or anything, just good sangria.

Ridicuously bad. The food is all fried, the bartender pauses to help other people before you, and the waiter answers the phone in his hand INTHEMIDDLE of taking your order. Such a debacle. Skip. Skip. Skip.

I’ve been to Sangria’s a couple of times and always have a blast. The sangria options are amazing(and you can sample them before chosing!) I actually had a big group come in for a party recently and the manager and bartenders were so good to us. The space is perfect for a party and the atmosphere(especially during Christmas time) was great. And to have such a variety of drinks to choose from made certain that everyone was happy. Also, the food that I’ve had there has always been great which is such a bonus. So, what are you waiting for? Go enjoy this fun Astoria bar!

I am so sad that i was seduced by the Astoria 30th avenue restaurant week. Sign outside, free appetizer with a purchase of a sangria. Sold .I’m sorry, is this sangria, or water with apples and oranges in it. This was the weakest, most bland sangria i have ever had. How can you get this wrong? You are called Sangrias!

Let me preface this review by stating that the food was good and the staff was friendly. I just couldn’t get over this bar… I think it was designed by a logic-impaired blind man… or some sadistic asshole, who may or may not also have been blind and/or logic impaired. Tiny, tall backless wooden stools perch precariously before a solid block bar with no overhang. For anyone over 5’5″ tall, enjoy having your knees crushed into a laquered wood chunk while you struggle to balance and lean forward enough to rest your elbows, reach your drink or eat your food. It’s fun to look at, but it’s absolutely thunderf*cking useless– like if Megan Fox were transformed into a bar(sequel alert!). I found myself daydreaming of smashing the thing into a million pieces, burning the wreckage and flipping off the designer as I urinated into the flames. I finally decided it would be better for everyone involved if I just stood. Thankfully, my kneecaps were only lightly fractured, not completely obliterated, so I was able to do so. Oh…and what’s that? Your mind blowingly ill-conceived bar has no beer on tap? I didn’t think it was possible for a bar to be less convenient… yet here we are.

Upon venturing into this place a second time, this time less hungry than the last, I am able to give a clear review. For over $ 40 you get a half pitcher of extremely weak, mostly-ice, frozen margaritas. I got the«mango» flavor, but I really couldn’t taste the mango at all. I also got the bleu cheese burger and my boyfriend got the swiss burger. I wanted my meat medium rare, but it was cooked well-done– too dry, flavorless, only saved by the pungent bleu cheese. My baked potato side was also tasteless, and it only had a sliver of cheddar cheese and bacon on top. I could have gone to Red Head, the Food-Network renowned bar known for its exceptional souther food, and spend $ 10 more for two entrees, an appetizer, and two drinks! Not worth the money. This isn’t located in the heart of Manhattan here, so it is really expensive for the«average» quality food that you get and the weak drinks.

The service was very slow with practically no on in the place. Over priced everything considering the food was lack-luster and that’s being nice. Save your money and cook!

My friends and I stumbled upon this place a couple of months ago and just fell in love with it. The servers are really nice and the drinks are VERY tasty, plus they are always having drink specials. We liked it so much I celebrated my 30th with them. They set up the back room for me and it was beautiful, with the balloons and a little buffet set up. Rocco, the owner, was exceptionally helpful through the planning process and was very attentive on the night of. The waitress we had was really wonderful and was always around when you needed her, but in no way a hoverer. And the food was SLAMMIN’! That Fried Mac and Cheese is so good! The only critique I would give is that when it came time to pay it took a while to get the bills situated, but with 12 people all paying separately I totally understand. Plus it was Friday night and they were crowded up front. This is an all around great little place to go on a Friday or Saturday and stay as long as you are able.

As a Sangria lover, I’d been wanting to try this place since the moment it opened, but my usual dinner-date friend was weary of another mediocre, lounge-y bar on 30th Ave. So I dragged my Sangria-lovin’ mom and aunt here when they were visiting. It is not exactly the best place for mom’s. We went on a Friday evening around 7:30 and the music(techno/dance) was so loud that having a conversation with the person next to you was basically impossible. There were only 2 – 3 other tables in there, so it’s not like it was hopping or anything. Our server came over after a few minutes and he was extremely friendly and easy going. Sensing the discontent with the music, he asked if we’d like him to turn it down. Obviously, we said yes. The rest of the night, the female bartender slowly turned up the music every chance she got. Our server was kind enough to bring us a(large) sampling of each of the five Sangria’s they had that day: Ron Burgandy(red): A little bit of a cinnamon kick; definitely enjoyable, but more of a fall drink. Passion Fruit(white): TERRIBLE. The main ingredient was water. I was so happy he gave us samples because I probably would have ordered that otherwise. Peach Mango(white): Not terrible, but not great, either. Like the Passion Fruit, it was very watered-down. Regular: By far the best choice. Wasn’t the greatest Sangria I’ve ever had, but I enjoyed it. I actually can’t remember the fifth one. Must not have been good. We ordered a pitcher of the regular for $ 25 and that got us about 5 glasses, which is a great deal. I had 2.5 glasses and left with only a tiny buzz, which is contrary to my norm, so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say there wasn’t as much alcohol as there should have been. We started with the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. I basically just ate the homemade tortilla chips, which were salty and delish. My mom and aunt enjoyed the dip. For dinner, I got the grilled chicken breast with bbq sauce and fries. They both got the loaded grilled cheese with fun spud chips. The portions were large and the prices were right. The food was also pretty damn good for a lounge on 30th Ave. The great food and Sangria did not come without its problems, however. The sever, while very happy and accommodating, was not good. To be honest, I don’t think he was even a server. I don’t know if the regular server called out, but he seemed like he belonged behind the bar(as he spent most of his time there). It took forever to get his attention, to get silverware and napkins, to get water, to get the check, etc. But he was very apologetic, chatty, and sweet. The food also took about a half hour to come out. Considering two of the meals were grilled cheese and we were the only ones ordering food at the time, I think that’s a bit long. Sangria’s definitely has a few kinks to work out(adding alcohol to their Sangria would be a good start), but I think they have lasting potential if they can do that.

Came here on a Tuesday night it wasn’t very busy. I tried the melon, peach and passion fruit sangrias. I didn’t like the passion fruit one but the other two were pretty good. Only tried the artichoke and spinach dip and it was pretty good.

I thought that Sangria’s was a nice venue to hang out in. I came with a bunch of my Astoria friends, and we basically took over the back room. They let us, and didn’t give us a problem about it in the least. Thumbs up on that. Their back room and back garden patio are the bomb, and I can see many drunken, out of control summer parties going on back there in the near future. However… if you are going to call yourself«Sangria», then the one thing that really needs to be absolutely BANGIN’ on your menu is your… SANGRIA. I and a friend both were of the opinion that the sangria served here was nothing to write home about and definitely lacked the right punch. it was neutrally tasty, and yes, replete with cut up oranges and little squares of apple but flavor wise and buzz wise it was just«meh». I really expected a lot more. I had the red and my friend had the white. Still not feeling the least bit of anything after that drink, I switched to beer. Ya can’t dumb down the alcohol content in that! ;) Another friend at the gathering was drinking margaritas… also low on the alcohol content. I took a taste of his drink and tasted mostly margarita mix, very little tequila. Sangria, if you keep watering down the alcohol drinks here you will not last. Especially not in this neighborhood where we can easily find venues with much stronger, bigger bang for your buck drinks. You want to build a good, loyal following, start putting some liquor in your drinks, Sangria. Trust me on this one, please. Tu Casa up the street on Steinway and 30th Ave serves a much better glass of sangria than you do. You might want to go over there and take some notes… Now. The food they serve at Sangria’s is great. I’ve had their wings, their fries and I’ve tasted a few of the other appetizers. That is working, and the prices on those appetizers are right on point. Also, the owner of the place is just as nice and accommodating a person as you’d be delighted to meet. We discovered that a couple weeks ago when we went in there after hitting up the Beer Garden. He set up the back tables for us and made sure that we were attended to from soup to nuts. So, even just for that, I would love to see this place survive! It has turned over about 5 times already in the past 4 years, and I wish that one of these owners would just come in and get it right! We here in Astoria are SPOILED. We’ve got it good from one avenue to the next as far as bars, lounges, restaurants and hang out spots are concerned. If you want to compete here and last for the long haul, you MUST step up your game! Astoria venues thrive on word of mouth advertising. Do you see how packed and popular MexiBBQ up the street from you is? Do you know why? Because everyone that has gone there and ordered food and drinks has been knocked off their feet. Literally. I have staggered home from there at least twice now. Sangria… I want to see you win this. Put some more pop and pow in those drinks, stop serving so-so sangria, give your customers the FULL alcohol content in their beverages and you’re there. You’ve already got everything else we need! Listen to me very carefully, and you will still be here by next year! And the next! ;)

Check in here and get a free shot! What a great way to be introduced to a place. All the kudos goes to Carlos, who made us feel right at home. The Sangria was delicious and full of fruit and flavor. The atmosphere is cool and slightly trendy. And from what I hear the food is pretty good, although I did not get the chance to eat here. Normally I choose to sit at the bar, but the stools are not comfortable at all(not good if you want people to stay) Sit at the tables adjacent to the bar if available.

Stopped in here for a quick drink. I had the classic sangria which was nice. Other than that the one guy bartender was friendly and helpful, the other stood at the other end of the bar and talked to friends. Probably wouldn’t go back.

Went to Sangria’s for a friend of a friends birthday. We started out with beers and ended with the Sangria. The Peach Sangria was awesome as well as the regular. Didn’t order much food just some wings which were pretty tasty. Really nice place the atmosphere was great as were the waitresses. Everything was reasonably priced. Just wish the music was a little better. Definitely somewhere I’d take a group or a date.

I was trying to go to one of the« Unilocal Drinks» bars, but it was closed(lame!). I was wandering around my ‘hood when I noticed the never open business called«Alegria» had changed it’s name to «Sangria’s» and was open! My roommates and I were sold when we saw the chalkboard sign boasting $ 3-$ 7 drinks all night long. We were basically the only people there tonight, but the bartender, Carlos, kept us very entertained(Carlos, if you see this, one of my roommates has a crush on you). The white sangria was delicious. This place is new, but I hope before long it’s an Astoria hot spot!
