A hidden gem indeed. We went there randomly and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The restaurant is small and located in a less busy street so there werent a lot of customers eating when we were there. We ordered the baked stuffed clams, the mussels, cobb salad, stove barbecued ribs, and some steak — all were very good, especially the clams. Will come back for sure

Hmm, came here because my friend had a great brunch here and then I saw all the reviews about how good the dinner is, just got back from dinner and I’m pretty disappointed. Not sure if it was an of night or what. At over $ 20 for an entrée, it needs to be a good quality meal and that’s not what we got at all. The duck and pan roasted trout just didn’t taste fresh at all, the bread was stale, coke was flat… Blegh. The baked clams and ribs appetizers were not good at all in my opinion. Halfway through our entrees we were over it, check please. The place seemed a little off when I walked in, barely anyone there and it smelled like a dive. Kinda perplexed right now to say the least. Normally if a place is decent I’ll try it again to give it another shot, but I won’t be back here. Sorry, Stove — wanted to like you.

We had originally planned for a Sunday brunch but woke up late. So we had dinner. Stove is a true genuine Irish owned restaurant from décor to entrée. I had the pan roasted duck breast with a chambord sauce(made fresh with raspberry, chambord liquor, & sugar) and wild rice medley. Hub had the Ale battered fish and chips which was mainly raved on Unilocal. Not sure if he ordered the dish on a wrong day but it had an overpowering stench. The batter was soggy as well which did very little to mask the overall taste of the fish. Only the fries was good. The duck was delicious but a bit overpriced for the skimpy portions. Our waitress recommended the bread pudding so we gave it a try over cappuccinos. It had a crème anglais sauce. It was enjoyable for our first visit. Just a bit disappointed with the fish and chips. I’m willing to give it another try. Hopefully, we’ll have better luck with their recommended dishes.

Truly a hidden gem! I came here for dinner awhile back and everything was amazing. The staff was very on point and professional. The food was incredibly appealing and delicious. Stove has a very cozy and romantic ambiance at night(never been during the day yet). I’m going back to try their brunch one of these days. I’d definitely recommend to others. This is a MUSTTRY restaurant in QUEENS!

My sister, mother, aunt and I went to Stove for Mother’s Day. We hadn’t made a reservation, being indecisive folks, but it ended up turning out to be a fabulous late lunch. There was a fixed menu with incredible options, including an appetizer, entrée, coffee and dessert. We ordered baked stuffed clams, lobster bisque with crème fraîche and an incredible Three Bean Salad with a creamy dressing and bacon. We split and raved about all three. The lobster bisque was so good, and it wasn’t overly heavy, but just right. And, the stuffed clams were so flavorful and filling. For entrees, I went with the baked salmon in light veloute sauce, topped with artichokes and crab meat, served with possibly the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had and these delicious green beans and carrots. My sister ordered a peppercorn steak that was cooked medium and was so moist that her knife sliced through it like butter, practically melting in your mouth. Mom went with a lamb shank, which was so good, served in an incredibly flavorful brown sauce. And my aunt went with buttery shrimp scampi and linguini. All of the dishes were stellar, and we were so lucky to try such a wide array of flavors in one sitting. Last… but not least the dessert. Being a chocolate lover, I went with the chocolate mousse, which was superb! It wasn’t heavy, but airy and topped with fresh, REAL whipped cream. My sister ordered a blueberry pie, that’s the chef’s grandmother’s recipe and it was PERFECT. Hands down the best blueberry pie I’ve ever had. The pie alone is worth a trip to Stove. The other dessert we ordered was a Bailey’s chilled cheesecake. Normally, I despise cheesecake because it’s too creamy and dense, but this cheesecake was to die for, it was sweet, but not overly sugary and it had this slightly exotic flavor and was resting on a perfect graham cracker crust. Everything was incredible. We licked our plates clean. Normally, I’m a green and light girl, but the calories were totally worth it! It’s double time at the gym tomorrow, but I couldn’t be happier. Definitely visit Stove! The service is amazing, the staff is super charming and it was a perfect and relaxing Mother’s Day.

This place is a hidden gem! Honestly. Everything is so flavorful and cooked well. The steaks are perfect. Juicy, tender and flavorful. Service was fantastic and pacing of the food, never rushed. Also, really great stuffed clams. Everything was great. Beware parking is hard to find.

Shepard’s pie puts this place on the map. The most hearty, satisfying, scrumptious dish I’ve ever had. Excellent service and a cozy ambiance(especially in the backyard). Attentive staff are not intrusive with service. Delicious fish and chips done properly. Actual Irish Chef! Ample parking in neighborhood. Priced just right! I can go on and on but this place is really great.

So, why hadn’t I heard of this place??? Where has Boro Magazine been? It’s in the middle of nowhere in the residential edge of Astoria. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful dinner there last night. The waitstaff was deeply professional, the tempo of serving each course was impeccable, and food — yeah, food! Between the two of us, we had the fried calamari, crock of French Onion Soup, garden salad, pork loin and stuffed chicken. Each dish was ridiculously tasty — and we are hard to impress. We kept going, «what is this restaurant doing here???» With the unassuming vibe and friendly yet deeply professional stuff on top of the perfectly prepared dishes, this is hands down the best restaurant in Astoria.

The Stove is amazing! I’ve never had something I didn’t like. My fiancé and I came here for brunch yesterday after leaving Bar43(see review) and we were not disappointed. The Irish Breakfast is always amazing and the Eggs Benedict are legendary. ANDTHEHOMEFRIES! Oh the homefries. I love this place and I cannot recommend it more highly. The service is always fast and friendly. The Stove is a true hidden gem.

Came here with the B&C on Sunday afternoon for brunch. Everything was good but there was nothing here that wow’d me. Also the drive there, because of the surrounding area, made me look like a serial killer. The irish breakfast — quit good although it was basically an iHop breakfast without the pancakes aka hot cakes aka flap jacks. The B&C got the burger but there was nothing outstanding abt it. It was good but felt like a regular diner burger. I may have to come back here for dinner since that’s the meal that received all the rave reviews. Happy eating, suckers.

With the help of fellow Unilocalers and their reviews, my bf and I came to try this restaurant and I now have a place to go whenever I need something to make my tummy happy!~ We only come here on weeknights because I don’t like to crowd around with everyone. The service was great everytime, we ususally get this same waitress(I’m so sorry, I forgot your name, the nice lady who recommended the heavenly chocolate mousse and thus inspired my bf to make it few days in a row to satisfy my chocolate craving) but the food was the main reason we come here. Their mashed potato is my favorite side dish, it’s sooo rich and creamy. I can just order a few sides of mashed potato and call it a meal! This place will always have me leaving happy and full but not OMG I just had a whole cow kind of full, but the OMG this was a great meal ended with heavenly desert kind of HAPPY, SATISFY full, lol does that make any sense? You might understand what I’m talking about if you had to go to an «all you can eat buffet» a few weeks in a row with your bf’s grandmother because she’s visiting from a faw away land and«all you can eat buffet» is a good way to get her to try all different kinds of food and eat lots of crab legs! That kind of full always leaves you feeling OMG i ate a cow and it’s slowllllly digesting in my tummy, it’s not a good feeling… I believe STOVE had a minor renovation after st patricks day weekend? I found out the hard way, when my bf and I drove his parents all the way here from forest hills and then realized they were closed for renovation. I haven’t had the time to go back to stove since then, I wonder what has changed? Can’t wait to find out.

I’m so glad I live just a few blocks from this joint. It might be out of the way for you, but I for some reason I feel that it is perfectly situated, to me. If the old adage, «it’s what’s on the inside that counts» were to apply to anything… this place would be it. From the outside, it didn’t look that impressive, but after stepping in, my party and I were quickly greeted and seated by the friendly staff. The ambiance is very welcoming, it isn’t jam packed, but there are bodies on seats. My party was there for brunch, and I appreciated the select brunch menu with some good olé standbys… e.g. eggs benedict, eggs and hash, etc.(with a free cocktail along with your brunch to boot). After ordering our bloody Marys and chatting up the waitress about the principles of pulling pranks(it was April Fools day after all), we were then served our meals. It was about a 10 – 12 minute wait, no problem for me. I got the eggs and hash; a simple meal, executed well, devoured(by me). Friendly service, inviting atmosphere, good company, and apple clove pie w/custard(omg) definitely put this place on my local faves list. You’ll see me back here.

Stove is a small, unassuming restaurant in a corner of Astoria. There is no subway station for at least a ½ mile(approximately), and Stove is decidedly off hipster and tourist radars. Yet the place is never deserted. Not crowded, but certainly not without a loyal clientele. I am proud to be a part of that group. I’ve dined there three times now, twice with my mother and once with my pickier stepfather. Both parents were impressed with their meals and now request Stove every time they visit. My mother hounded me for weeks to make sure we got a table for Christmas Eve dinner last month. The dishes are delicious and presented impeccably. Not fancy, and I prefer it that way. Just simple and clean; the focus is on the food and not frou-frou. I’m not one to fall for Jackson-Pollock-like streaks of sauce on my pork chops. Their fish-and-chips is better than the ones I sampled in London. It’s my new go-to dish. Good wine selection too. Then again, I drink Reisling with almost everything. And yes, they have a good one. The fact that I live around the corner(and, OK, three more blocks) doesn’t hurt. Stove is definitely a hometown favorite.

Of all of the amazing places that make Astoria such an amazing hood, Stove is among the very best. This modest sized establishment is the consummate neighborhood dining bistro, boasting some of the tastiest food this side of Queens has to offer. Located in the no man’s land(i.e. east of Steinway), it should be noted there aren’t any train stops within 10 blocks in either direction. Like many great places in this borough, a 15 min hike is small price to pay in the name of quality food. Though their brunch deserves some recognition, dinner is my preferred time to go. The menu is something Gordon Ramsay would surely approve: simple, reasonably priced, continental European fare that doesn’t exceed more than a page. There may not appear to be a ton of variety, but rest assured there is a little something for everyone. So far I’ve yet to try anything on the menu that wasn’t delicious, which is incredible considering how many times I’ve been here. My go-to options of their honey glazed pork chop with apple compete and rosettes of sole with crabmeat stuffing, fish veloute and pernod essence are menu winners every time. Their crock of French onion soup is some of the best I’ve had and this is coming from someone who rarely enjoys it. Be sure to pay attention to the specials of the evening, as some of the finest food I’ve had here were items not featured on the regular menu. Service is always top notch and the ambiance feels undoubtedly intimate. Seating for anything above 4 people may prove to be tough. Make it a casual date night or even a random adventure in Astoria, Stove is worth the trek.

I WISH this was my neighborhood restaurant. But I live in Brooklyn Heights and not Astoria… so Stove will have to be a once-in-awhile treat instead. I went to Stove, after having it Unilocal Bookmarked for about a year, with a friend who has been before and lives in Astoria. We walked in at 6:15pm on a cold Wednesday evening and were the only diners(there were two more tables full when we left about an hour and a half later). Our waitress was so great… attentive but not hovering. There were a number of specials, including a Filet Mignon and Shrimp special that I almost ordered. But the Chicken Kiev was speaking to me that night, and I’m so happy that I ordered it… it was amazing! I had it served with rice and veggies, and it was just like a home cooked meal. We split two of the desserts, the Crème Brulee and the Double Chocolate Mousse, and both were a wonderful and light way to end the evening. I honestly can’t wait to go back and try the Shrimp Scampi with Rice Pilaf. The only thing that’s not going for this restaurant is location… it’s a bit far from both the N/Q and R Astoria stops. But if you can find your way, you are in for a really great meal.

If perfection was a recipe, this place could make it. Went here before my flight back home because it was near the airport and I was very surprised. Thought it was going to be a forgettable quick meal, but I was very wrong. This place was perfect. A greeaaaattttttttt Sunday brunch, with a nice compliantly alcoholic drink and wonderful fish and chips I was a very happy man. It made me forget about my flight!!! Haha The best thing though, was the Irish coffee. Best I have had ever. Our waitress was from ireland and she knew what she was doing. Did I say this place was perfect? It really really is.

Excellent food, staff and atmosphere. It’s a bit far from the trains but a nice walk if the weather permits. So the décor is nice, a bit fancier than your average place but nothing too intimidating. The dining room and the backyard were both open and my bf and I decided to stick with the dining room because it was a bit more romantic with candles and dim lights. Make sure you ask the waiter for the daily specials! Ok so no drinks for the bf and I, we’re not exactly the drinking type. We ordered the french onion soup and the special appetizer of mussels with corn, peppers and some spices cooked in corn chowder. The soup was nice and hot with a good crust over spilling onto the bowel-the way french onion soup should be. The complimentary bread was alright, but dipped in the soup it was nice and hearty. The only complaint was that it was a bit too salty. Ok so the mussels were fantastic. The broth it was cooked in was delicious and wasn’t your standard corn chowder, it was zesty and spicy and excellent with bread. Mmmmm For the main course I ordered the pan seared salmon with fries and veggies. The salmon skin was seared to perfection, nice and crispy and the salmon was seasoned with just salt and pepper. Simple and clean! The fries were very standard and the veggies were cooked very well-nice and soft. The bf ordered the special pasta, ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese in a pesto sauce with pine nuts. It was nice, delicious and creamy. For dessert the bf got some chocolate mousse and although I didn’t try any, he compared to tasting like pure dark chocolate. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place for birthdays, anniversary or for a meal that is just a bit more than the casual place. Must try!

Cute little restaurant with good food. A solid date place in Astoria. I went for brunch today and had the corned beef hash with home fries and scrambled eggs, mimosa, and coffee. It was a solid 3.5 *s, but I rounded it up to 4 *s for a few different reasons. 1) The restaurant has an intimate vibe. 2) Solid good food, sorely needed in that area of Astoria(the only other restaurant of this caliber is Bistro Les Minots). 3) Served me warm toast in a basket with a lovely cloth napkin to keep it warm! I know it’s just toast, but little touches like that make elevate the toast to a more refined eating experience. 4) They put in a good amount of champagne into my mimosa. :)(Seriously, nothing more disappointing than a bad mimosa because there’s too little alcohol.) 5) Best brunch deal in Astoria, in my opinion. My corned beef hash brunch with the complimentary drink(your choice of mimosa, screwdriver, Bloody Mary, coffee, or tea) was $ 10. I ordered coffee on top of my mimosa and with tax, it came out to $ 13.07. All other brunch deals run $ 15 or more, so even with paying extra for coffee, it was cheaper at Stove. I thought the fluffy scrambled eggs and home fries were lovely. I discovered I’m not a corned beef hash person, but still, I ate every bite. Coffee wasn’t that good(not bad, but also not good), so definitely get the alcohol as your complimentary brunch drink. Stove is definitely a one of the better brunch places in Astoria and worth a visit if you live in the area. Also, they have an outdoor patio in the back, so when it gets warmer, there’ll be outdoor seating!

This is one of the best date places in Astoria. Our waitress was really great and helpful for choosing food and drink. The salmon I got was some of the best salmon I have ever had — great flavor and texture. The sides also definitely complimented the meal; I recommend the root vegetable medley if it’s the vegetable of the day. The décor was not interesting to me, which was a bit disappointing, and the music was popular music from the 90s, which was amusing but not necessarily a good fit with the restaurant, in my opinion. However, I would definitely come back here for a nice meal!
