Not sure what happened but this place fell off ! The food has been undercooked the last 5 times I’ve ate here, the waitresses are nice but not very efficient. Don’t stop here if your in a hurry ! I was on a 30 min lunch break and every waitress was busting tables at the exact same time ! Next time please take my order first. I only return cause atascaderos food choices are slim to nil

Hubby and I are local and have been here about 4 times. Each time we thought the food was terrible. I already decided a long time ago that I wouldn’t go back fro breakfast ever again. Since they messed up scrambled eggs and the potatoes tasted greasy and burned. Worst breakfast of my life. The other couple of times we said we would never go back but wound up there because we met friends and each time the food could only be described as mediocre at best. The waitresses will tell you extras like biscuits and gravy come with your breakfast but when you get the bill there is a 4.95 up charge. They should tell you that! I git the Philly cheese-steak last night and they said fried zucchini sticks came with it as one of my options(fries, onions rings, etc…) well there was a 4.95 up-charge! They should mention that. Oh and I got FOODPOISONING from the Philly last night. I will never set foot in there again. Bleh…

The new locations is fabulous! It is located a bit closer to the center of town and the parking is so easy and spacious. This is a definite upgrade to arrival and departure that will definitely attract this auto based town. The new diner has lots of seating and is so spacious. The cook and the menu is the same as before and still make a nice breakfast burrito and the burgers are to drool for! Lets eat!

My family and I were looking for a place for a celebratory dinner. We had been to A-Town Diner a few random times and decided to go again. It was a great experience overall. The service was wonderful, even for just one waitress(it was close to closing time). They were quick, friendly, and stayed on top of our drinks. However, after we received our food, the waitress didn’t come back until she dropped the check. They didn’t rush us to place our order or leave. The food was fantastic! The portion sizes are large, so make sure you have space in your fridge when you get home. A few minor tweaks would make this place a 5 star restaurant in my book.

If you are looking for a friendly, welcoming place with comfort food this is THE place in Atascadero. Forget Coco’s and Denny’s — they can’t hold a candle to ATown Diner and Deli. ATown has the friendliest and most hardworking waitstaff — several of the servers even have gotten to know my husband and I on a first name basis. The menu offers a variety of food to suit whatever mood you are in– breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner this is a great place to go if you just want to have honest, good cooking. Try the black and tan onion rings(think beer battered in Guinness and Harp!), the burgers, the philly cheesesteak, the Greyhound sandwich or the fish tacos. They are all great! While the location strikes you as a bit weird — it’s in the same strip mall as Perry’s Parcels, Baby Bee Green and a Model Train shop — there is always parking. Ideally, the owner would update the interior of ATown and get ride of the stipple ceiling and odd track lighting, but then again, a change like that might take away from the charming atmosphere that makes ATown Diner and Deli one of our favorites.

This place is a decent burger joint. If you had a choice between here and Sylvester down the street, come here.

I had the ortega burger which was awesome! Husband had the fish and chips which was also good. I would order all the same things again. The servers were very friendly and were in high spirits even after a few rough patches. I would definitely go back.

The food is just okay. My favorite items on the menu are their smoothies. The service is always really good.

My overall impression was good: good food, large portions, reasonable prices, friendly staff, nice setting. Pros: I had the Carne Asada omelette with hash browns and an English muffin. Absolutely delicious. The crew was helpful and friendly. They had good seating for my family of six. The price was very good even without my Unilocal discount of 20%. The setting was very nice, like a small-town diner. Cons: The table we sat at was falling apart. Some of the laminate was peeling back and was sharp. Thankfully no one cut themselves, but I mentioned it to the staff as we left. Also, they do not have a kid’s menu. That’s a big one for my family. We had to order and share to make it work for my little ones. There are a lot of families with small kids in Atascadero. I would think that they would accommodate us a little better. For me the pros far outweighed the cons. I would most definitely come back again.

Pretty good over all. Very affordable and super friendly service. Their menu is a little outdated though.

We had a very hard time finding this place but boy am I glad we did! The service was phenominal, the food delicious and the price was just right. They have a pool table and it was fun to watch a dad teaching his sons how to play while they waited for their food to arrive. Can’t wait to come back!

What a great find! Quick service, everyone very nice, and best of all, great food! I had the chorizo scramble, daughter had Belgian waffle with fruit compote, hubby got chile verdes chili chilquiles and he wolfed them. Son had pancakes, eggs and bacon. Fluffy pancakes and perfect bacon.

Great burgers & fries and delicious breakfast. However, the service is often lacking. I’ve had one server on several occasions who was very friendly, but not very intuitive or responsive. The most recent server seemed bothered that I and my two children stopped in. The belgian waffle was amazing. And the prices are very good. They do not have a printed childrens menu.

The diner is cute and kinda retro, which is neat. The A-Town Burger is AMAZING with bacon and avocado. The SLO Jack is definitely another one of my favorites. The customer service is better when dealing with the older ladies and the one gentleman that sometimes waits tables. He was one of the best servers I have ever had in my life. Location and parking is difficult but once you find it you will definitely go back!

Good food and friendly service makes this a «must stop» while in Atascadero. They serve a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, pasta dishes, and deli items. Salads and smoothies are also o nth menu. Upon recommendation, I had the«SLO Jack» sandwich — a tri-tip with pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo on a french roll. It was delicious! French fries and onion rings are pretty good, too! This is a «locals» place that supports the local area high school(which is a good thing). Stop by when you’re in the area.

As someone from Iowa and now Texas who loves burgers, this place does a great job. Dbl bacon is a complete meal and crinkle cut fries are a throwback… crispy and awesome. So good I went two days in a row.

I was raised In Atascadero and worked and knew Virgil Baxter that owned Virgil’s drive-in. I told my wife how great Virgil Burgers were because she was raised in SLO town and never ate a Virgil burger, my dad told me that A-town was selling Virgil burgers and the same secret sauce that Virgil used(I know the recipe because I made the sauce every Sunday morning, I swore secrecy to Virgil) any way the burgers are the way i remember them and my wife love it too. Far better than«in and out burgers» the restaurant was very clean and the the staff very friendly . you got to try the burgers A+++++++

This is a California classic, perfect if you’re doing the great drive down Highway 101 through the Central Coast. I give it 4.5 stars for the food and ambiance(it’s been around in some form since the 1950s), and take away ½ a star for the bathroom. Come on, would it kill you to patch and paint? Having said that, I will definitely be back. The food is tasty and plentiful. Unless you’re ravenous, you can consider splitting a plate. The TV over the counter was running ESPN/Nascar in the morning, so choose a booth to the side if you prefer it quieter. Bonus points — instant Unilocal coupon and really friendly staff.

Was lookin for something to eat while headin down the 101 and found this gem. A bit tucked off the road, but still easy enough to find. Clearly a local spot. Fast service, good food, friendly folks. Totally worth the stop and much better than grabbing fast food.
