We stopped here on the way back from a day trip to pismo. It was one of the few that were dog friendly. I had a bacon cheese burger with Swiss which was very tasty. The wife had the Philly cheesesteak. It was just as tasty. We had our daughter and her friend. The friend had a corn dog that she was extremely satisfied with. And my daughter had the PBJ. I ate a portion of the PNJ the bread was like it had been frozen. It fell apart when picked up. The wife and I also shared the chilli cheese fries. Neither of us were fans! Overall good food and nice atmosphere. Will be back for sure…

Great burgers! Salads are great! Not fond of the moldy rancid smell when you come in the back door. If they have fixed this recently … Great! But last time I went my stomach jumped up to my throat with the gross odor and I left immediately.

Love this place! Always amazing food that is very affordable. My family and I love to come here during the summer and hang out on the patio, definitely an Atascadero gem!

This place is amazing and great if you want a bigger meal. Amazing service, food, and cleanliness. I highly suggest Sylvester’s if you want a good meal. Lots of the food is big so you can use the leftover for a perfect snack and really good French fries.

Okay. For real the heart attack burger is by far the greatest thing I’ve eaten so far. When they say avocado, it’s AVOCADO! Like a whole half of an avocado. You were actually able to taste the other condiments on there! Especially the bacon and egg. GARLICFRIESAREOFFTHECHARTS. Also they have this hot sauce that I didn’t think would be that good but MAN was I wrong! ABSOLUTELYTHEBESTHOTSAUCEIVEEVERHAD! My recommendation is put some on your garlic fries like ketchup. BOMB! IFYOURCLOSEBYGIVETHISPLACE A TRY! YOUWILLNOTREGRETIT

the guy at the register right now is an idiot! He didn’t give me my change, then said, «I thought that was a tip!» here’s a tip, Don’t Assume!!!

YEP! Many choices for sure! I decided on that«Heart Attack» which it certainly delivered, if not physically, definitely on my taste buds. It’s served with a fried egg, avocado, I swapped out the cheddar cheese for jalapeño jack, lettuce, red onion & their own house sauce, which I always swap out on any burger for ketchup & mustard. Lawdy! Lawdy! That thing was worth the 8 years it took me to roll around to finally eating one – well ½ a one. The other ½ kept perfectly for midnight snack & was just as delish cold with my martini. I thought In & Out did a good burger but if I’m in Atascadero & I have a choice, I’ll choose Sylvester’s from now on. OH! And don’t even get me started on their fries! I don’t even like French fries except McDy’s. But their garlic fries are stinky & crispy &YUM! Plus, Cayucos Hot Sauce on every table! That’s what I’m talking about!

Had the tri tip sandwhich with bbq sauce and sauteed mushrooms added on. The amount of meat and mushrooms on that thing was incredible, and it was not possible to eat it with my hands so i ate it open faced with a fork and knife. My buddy got the habenero mango burger with a side of onion rings. I snagged several of his onion rings and added them to my sandwhich, which I highly recommend! The food came out pretty fast and the atmosphere was great. 2 tvs, one had monday night football on, the other had poker. I also had an orange float which was good, but massive, and I don’t recommend finishing it unless you’re trying to get diabetes. Probably about 150 grams of sugar in it.

This was a great pit stop on our drive home to the Bay Area. A friend recommended this place and I’m glad we tried it. I must admit my favorite part was the toasted bun and the secret sauce. I had a 1⁄3 old fashion with cheddar cheese. My husband had an old fashion plain. He was happy as well. It’s safe to say he’s had his practice with burgers. We also ordered a fry and an onion ring. These were good too however I was full and satisfied with just my burger. Nice service and friendly staff. Yum this place rocks.

So, Saturday. 3pm. Town festival just ended and for some weird reason NOTHING is open in downtown Atescadero except for Dennys and this place. So I stumble in and get the Pancho Loco, a green chilie burger with cheddar and drenched in special sauce. The beef was either organic or grass fed and tasty as hell. The rest of the burger was so wet and greasy and soggy yes, but delicious as fuhhhh… k. Hence, the reason for there being an open wash station so you don’t have to wait thru the restroom line to wash up. I could go on but that’s the main thing: delicious greasy burgers from straight up legit beef. It’s casual and friendly and there’s an outdoor patio with a great view of the beautiful City Hall across the street. I hit the road back to Los Angeles. If you’re stopping thru town, definitely worth it. Oh! And they have beer and wine so definite bonus points for that.

Great hamburgers. If you are looking for a great cheap local greasy burger place this is it! Burgers are delicious, we had the smallest burger 1⁄3 pound and it was still enough. Prices change significantly depending on sizes and ingredients. The garlic fries are delicious as well. The staff was very friendly, we told them it was our first time there and they even gave us free drinks. Have in mind that burgers don’t come with fries. You have to buy fries separately, have also in mind that a small order of fries are enough for two people. They charge an extra dollar for garlic, and the garlic is just crushed garlic on top of the fries. The restaurant is nice, it has great space outdoors and a room inside. The smell inside bordered me, it smelled like cheap cleaning products. We will probably come back here for their week day special of $ 1 fries!

Food was great but I really only have two complaints about the place. While I have been here from time to time over the years I’ve never noticed this until my visit last week. The water used in the soda dispenser tastes like Atascadero tap water. Growing up in «A-town», there’s one thing you get to know very well: Atascadero tap water tastes really, really bad. Funky, is more like it, though. The other complaint I have would be directed toward management, and that is the guilt-tipping tactic. I don’t mind tipping if I feel it’s warranted and the service was good, but having a cashier ask if you’d check the amount on a print-out with a tip line before they run the card through(or have you sign) comes off as though they are asking for a tip. It’s very passive aggressive but it still creates awkwardness between the customer. Yeah, Sylvester’s is a borderline gray area when it comes to tipping but knowing that the staff will come out and do things like refill your drink, get you condiments, and take your trash will make anyone feel obligated to tip without pressure. It’s hard to know how much to tip, or if you should tip, if you haven’t experienced the service yet. Stick with the *tip-jar. And please fix the water issue with the soda dispenser.

WOW Group of 8 heading home from Sturgis. We were at Harley dealer when I Unilocaled places to eat. The guy at counter I asked how’s Sylvester’s and he say’s best burgers in the county, you’ll love it. Well we were not disappointed everyone happy with their food. I got the Pancho Loco which was great, wife got the Flaming Armadillo, she loved it «so did I «Another had the Hippie their veggie alternative and quite pleased. Onion rings & garlic fries were fantastic. You really can’t go wrong here. You do have to go up and order and they bring you your food. Place busy but service great and fast. Definitely be back again when up this way

Living in Templeton, I frequent this place A LOT, and am never dissatisfied with the food or service. Their sandwiches –especially their«From the Range» burgers– are VERY tasty and the staff is friendly. Sylveter’s also supports local schools/events and has a delightful ambiance.

First things first. If you are going to explain how you cook your burgers to medium, with a description mind you, on the very top of your menu. You should then cook your burger to medium. Lots of hype for this place and I should have known better. Burger was dry and not a lot of flavor. It was cooked WELL done. Although there might have been some flavor there but I was swimming in the special sauce. Way too much sauce, it’s all I could taste. Maybe they were busy, maybe someone was just having an off day, but the burger was just not good. However. You should be running to this place to eat as much clam chowder as your body can hold. Holy crap is it good. I mean better than anything you can get on the water in the area. Just perfect. And they give you the little oyster crackers instead of the saltines just as God intended. So, with the burger game stepped up a bit this could be a great place. I will even give them a pass on having beans in the chili for chili fries. But whew is that chowder gooooooooood.

This was a down-hill experience for me. My mom, fresh off a 4-hour trip south to visit me was craving something filling. So we headed on down to Sylvester’s to split a California burger and fry. We were sold on the ‘avocado’ bit but I guess the chef forgot to either add the avocados or the cashier forgot to tell us they don’t have any, because we didn’t get any. The service was pretty crap for this location. Considering that there were at maximum 15 people in the restaurant(most of whom were eating) and only 6 people not yet served, there was no reason for it to take 35 minutes for us to get our order. It was a long, long wait. The outdoor and indoor seating areas were both very clean and it was a pleasant experience, but waiting that long for your food was just ridiculous. Especially when it’s only 6 people waiting on food. I’ve been in Sylvester’s many a time before for and experienced a much better wait time so who knows what was going on. Would I be back? Yeah, if they put what I ordered on the food. Would I go out of my way to come back? Probably not. There are a few burger joints in Paso Robles that seem to be giving Sylvester’s a run for their money.

Man, it’s only been a couple of months but the food quality has gone down! Burgers tend to be overcooked and dry, fries tend to be soggy and not fresh as they once were, and orders have been lacking in more ways than one(fries have been missing or sauces in sandwiches, etc.). It breaks my heart to have to bump this place down one star but it is what it is and Sylvester’s haven’t been living up to par.

Dive burger bar with some really great food. I would give it a 5, but the place is just not as sparkly clean as one might want in a dining establishment. I’m not a germaphobe, but if you are, you probably wouldn’t be very comfortable. That being said, I can look past that, as it wasn’t anything that would make one ill. I had the tri-tip sandwich. It was HUGE, like our table of four could have eaten it and still left food. The meat was flavored really well, a nice spice blend coated the outer edges. The BBQ sauce was also quite good. The onion rings were clearly homemade, and I wanted to devour those too(my husband and I shared an order, and we couldn’t even come close to finishing them). He enjoyed his giant burger.
