Nice park, too bad it’s smack dab next to El Camino Real – a very busy 4 lane road. Historic rotunda’s worth a visit & outdoor fountain is lovely… but that’s about it. Not many shade trees, no «gardens» and usually lots of loitering teens and transients. The city should make better use of this place; it has potential.

Just like the rest of Atascadero full of smokers. I have never seen anything like this town. Every single parking lot has a smoker in it. The park had not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, but seven count em seven people smoking. I’m not even including the homeless drug group in the far corner. Hey Atascadero in case you missed it. Smoking causes cancer and kills you. Those around you as well. So do your kids a favor and don’t smoke in the car with them. Oh yeah the fountain was nice; what I could see of it through a thick cloud of smoke.

The park itself is nice, but the city really should do something about all of the homeless people that hang out there all day. Nothing ruins a good time like dealing with pan handlers, cigarette(and other kinds of smoke) and drunken rowdyness.

Perfect for a daytime stroll. Grab a Starbucks and sit on the bench while enjoying the fountain.

A stunning park with a newly restored City Hall building in the background, thanks to FEMA funds. Hey, who says the federal government doesn’t help out once in a while? Seriously though, this is a beautiful park. In the spring and summer, they often play movies on a massive inflatable screen for free. At various times, they’ve also hosted farmer’s markets, festivals and so on. Whether coming for an event, or just to take a stroll, this park is a great landmark in the otherwise quiet town of Atascadero. Fun fact, the City Hall in the background was featured as a backdrop in several feature films. Google around IMDB if you want to find them.

Lovely little community park. Big lawn, nice fountain, good place for a picnic with the family. I do wish they would bring the farmer’s market back over here.

The Sunken Gardens is a center piece for Atascadero. All local events have something going on here! Expansive lawns, well manicured, a central fountain, and meandering walkways, make this a local favorite. Come on down, there is usually something going on every weekend!
