Kroger

Drove 2 hours to shop at this store and others in the area. What I was looking for was sitting on a pallet right in the middle of the isle and the manager refused to let me shop through it even after I told him how far I had come. He said I had to come back on a different day. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Never heard of a store refusing a customer to spend $.

I love this store. I have shopped here for many years. The staff has worked here forever so its like going home for spring break. They need a few improvements, but its an old store not much to do about that. Last night I had the best deli help I have ever had. I wish I had gotten the name of the man that helped me. He was amazing. I think he was new.

This store sux. Service is awful and practically non existent. The store is dirty. The personnel are poorly trained and they have constant turnover. They rarely have more than one register open. Avoid this place.

Smaller and less clean than the Alps Kroger, this one I only go to when it is extremely convenient. The selection isn’t very good.

NO STAR for the huge cockroach in Kroger prewashed salad!
I used to regularly shop at Kroger. No problem for several years until recently it gave me the trauma…
On October 23^rd, 2014, my friend bought some prewashed salads from this East side Kroger for our gathering. Unsuspicious of prewashed salads, I was enjoying the company of my friends. Until I found something like plastic bag in my mouth. I thought, ok, bad automated packaging must have left some plastic wrapping in the salad.
Took it out of my mouth. It was a cockroach half a finger’s length.
I did not know what happened afterwards. My group of friends (more than 10 UGA grad students) saw me screaming and salad, salad plate, and fork were flying in the air. Because I suffered from temporary memory loss, they told me some weeks later that they were asking me what was going on and I could not answer them. They could not get an answer from me, then one of them found a cockroach in my salad on the carpet floor. I was hiding in the corner of the dining room trying to be furthest away from the dead pre-​washed cockroach. I didn’t know what happened, I literally black out.
Looks like my friends cleaned up my salad and cockroach before I got back my consciousness.
I am thankful for my wonderful friends and I will never do Kroger pre-​washed salad again.
Manager Meenish and Manager Leullen (if I spell your names rights), you are DOING A POOR JOB managing your Kroger.
This Kroger is not only awful because of the pre-​washed cockroach. This Kroger is also awful in maintaining a functional water filling machine. During this summer break, the water filter machine outside of the entrance was broken half of the time.

Cleanliness: poor
Service: generally poor/​average
Produce: average (not impressed)
Meats: average to overpriced
Restrooms: terrible (below gas stations)
Major pro: open 24 hours
Major con: staff
Produce: Like another review stated be careful selecting produce. Lots of trap deals. Poor quality of shelf life, flavor, and value on many items. What ever you do, don’t get the guacamole dip the deli makes. It’s terrible. Took two tastes and dissed it out.
Meats: you can find better deals in the display case if you are a thrifty shopper. Two nice steaks on sale can cost less then the packed ones on the «manager discount» section. Just have to know a little about what cuts should cost (Hint: use the internet to find out).
Restrooms: where do I start. I hope the women’s restroom is not as bad as the men’s. It was less then I’d expect from a gas station. Never seen paper in this restroom, broken door has not been fixed in a very long time (it’s obvious). «Emergency Only» kind of restroom. Don’t let children go in alone.
Negative: staff staff staff. I just moved to town and this is my neighborhood grocery store. But I’ve turned too many blind eyes to the poor staff interaction at this Kroger. Until my wife was so rudely disrespected and passed over on service. When we asked for service we eyes rolled and the slowest possible walk ever, followed by a deep sense of a cold shoulder.
Conclusion Rant: Kroger needs to wake up. Publix is only a block away and they have the closely matched values with way cleaner store and friendlier staff. The manager there regulates well. I’ve seen it myself. A manager here at Kroger has actually been a recipient of the same frustrating poor staff review I just mentioned. I’ve spent a lot of money at this Kroger so far. But I don’t feel any savings there out way the way my wife was treated. I can stand rude people. But I can’t tolerate my wife being treated poorly right in front of me.
Sometimes I feel like Kroger doesn’t want to earn my business. And to that I’d gladly fulfill their request.
I’ll update this in a month. Will I switch to Publix? We’ll see…

Needless to say. Publix is nice and all. But saving money on the same items in a box or can to shop at Kroger is worth it.
I still think it’s cramped and need immediate updating. I found out why they have not yet done so (contract with property owners in NYC).
My wife and I developed good working relationship with Eddie (at the meats section) and he is very nice. Jon, a manager, runs a good ship there and keeps up with the pace.
Still slow on check out service and still short on temperaments/​tack of employees. But I’m over it. They are just too immature and will never change.
We shop here and we just try not to let it get to us. Good luck.

Great location, safe and always very clean. Only downside is that the checkout can sometimes take a while if the place is too crowded. I’ve been going here for years and there’s only 1 crappy employee who works there. I have met the rest and they all do solid work. Good bakery too.

Worst produce in town, and the store just looks sorta beat up and dirty.

In my opinion, this is the best Kroger in the entire company. Granted, I may be a little biased because it was my «family» grocery store from the time I was eight years old until I left Athens at 23. Even when I lived across town, I would still drive to this Kroger to do my grocery shopping. I was so sad when I moved to Atlanta and discovered that not all Kroger stores were as nice as this one. Huge store with an awesome deli, fresh produce and a nice amount of prepared foods. The meat counter guys are always nice and willing to take requests.
