Putrid. I just got food poisoning. This place is terrible. Cheap for a reason.

This place is not fantastic. HOWEVER, for 4.95 you can get enough American Chinese food(not many authentic dishes, but still popular with foreign students) to last easily two meals, if not 3. They’re very helpful when looking for vegetarian options(which can be difficult without knowing exactly what’s in everything), and some of the vegetable dishes(eggplant and potato, mixed veggies) are actually pretty tasty. If you’re craving American Chinese food and/or want a lot of food for a little money this is a great option.

This place is a perfect spot for student for the affordable price and the early open restaurant around the area.

Aww this place was SOGOOD when it first opened! Good food, good prices, friendly people … what happened??? Went back to Athens for a visit last spring and decided to get Peking Express for old times’ sake. The veggies were undercooked, the meat was gristly and bland, the sauces were flavorless and gummy, and the rice — the rice! — was crunchy. Plus the price has gone up to something ridiculous like $ 5.00 for take-out. We used to call this place«$ 3.75 Chinese» but it’s now apparently«Gross and overpriced slop.» I wish they’d go back to how they used to be. They’d get more customers, I’m sure of it!

The food is sitting under heat lamps mere feet in front restroom. Need I say more? This has to be some sort of health hazard. If you choose to blindly ignore that fact, then enjoy your unsurprisingly bland Chinese food.

It’s really sad. If I’d reviewed Peking my Freshman year at Ohio University, it would have gotten a 5 star review. It was dubbed 2−9−5 Chinese when I got to Athens because of their deal; 3 «Entrée» components(ie General Tso’s Chicken, Green Beans, Wontons, Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Mongolian Beef, etc) and a huge heaping of fried rice, white rice, or Lo Mein for only $ 2.95. Honestly enough to stretch into two meals, I kid you not. Doesn’t include drink, but hey, that’s only a buck too. The environment was nice for a little Chinese eatery; TV with either American movies with Chinese subs/dubs or Chinese television channels playing. It was kind of kick ass. By the end of my Freshman year, 2−9−5 became 3−2−5. Not a big deal. Then Sophomore year it became 3−9−5. Junior year it was 4−9−5, still a good deal. But then my Senior year the management and ownership changed. The friendly older couple who remembered me and my fiancée’s names and always greeted us with a smile(and occasionally extra crab rangoon) were gone. The new people have upped the price to about $ 6, which would still be worth it if the food’s quality hadn’t suffered so much as well. Now the food is often over or under cooked, it is stale often, and the service is blah. It’s sad, cause it was a college diet staple. They won’t go under because they’re still on par with China King, and for a lower price, so you have 2 options for Chinese within a walking distance as a Freshman/Sophomore in the dorms; China King’s gross buffet, or the more affordable Peking Express. It reminds me of how the Cleveland Browns franchise never gets better because the fans just keep tolerating it and showing up, when if they’d stop going maybe the management would get the hint and improve. C’est la vie.

I always end up coming here with thoughts of «Oh hey, it can’t possibly be as awful as I remember it.» Yes. Yes it can. Seriously, just don’t eat here.
