Came here on a Monday night and we had the place to ourselves(I mean… they didn’t shut down the place just for us… more that there weren’t other diners when we went). This place is a treat. We had the Boykie and the Hot Chick, both of which had a great deal of flavour and were fairly priced/portioned. I was also able to get a rather proper Pimm’s Cup with which to pair the pie. Given its location across the street from UGA, it would make for a great spot to grab food between/after classes(if you’re a Bulldog) or after touring the campus(if you’re a prospective student).

This place was great! Fast service and the food was awesome. We got the Paddywhack pie with the beer battered sidewinder fries. Try the fries with the chipotle ranch instead of ketchup. Great kick! The pie was hot and delicious the the fries were perfectly seasoned. Then the dessert. We got the chocolate bacon bourbon pie with ice cream. Definitely must try! Will come back if in town.

Awesome food. Great atmosphere. Wonderful service. Totally will come back. Little small but taste outweighs that fact. Best dough I have had in a long time. Flaky and warm. Perfection.

This place is unique and yummy. I had the Pierate pie, which is a pie filled with feta and ricotta cheese and peas. It was delicious with its flaky crust and melted cheese. It was just as good as the spanakopita from the Augusta Greek Festival. The beer– battered sidewinder fries is the most delicious fries I have ever tasted. I would recommend this place if you are traveling and visiting Athens, GA !

Great pies and a nice selection of reasonably priced draft beer. I’m stoked to turn 21 and start taking advantage of Friday pieday where $ 7 gets you a pie and a pint of Yuengling or PBR. I love that each pie represents a different nation or culture. The family that runs the joint is super sweet and was excited to show off treasures acquired in their worldly travels. The pies themselves are a bit small but scrumptous and the fries are definitely worth getting.

My family loves The Pouch! My only complaint(which nobody else in my family shares) is that the pie crusts taste kinda off to me. I think its because they use an egg white wash on them, but most people love that so clearly it’s just some sort of malfunction with my taste buds! However, no matter how one feels about the crust there is no denying that the fillings are all very well flavored and cooked. I love that each little pie is inspired by a different country, so if you eat there enough times it sort of feels like you have traveled the world! Service is always good, and if you get the chance to talk to the owners take it! They are super cool and interesting! Also if you get the chance get dessert because it is AMAZING. There is also an extensive beer selection for those interested.

I tried this place for dinner for the first time yesterday, 4÷5÷2016 and was really surprised. I found that the food was awesome and prices were right ! We had a party of three and we all split four pies… the chicken, beef, lamb, and veggie. All were tasty and satisfying. We also spit a few sides — the mash potatoes and coleslaw which went great with the pies… Oh and, and of coarse a dessert … a camel pie … all were a great. I will be back to this gem in the rough. Highly recommend. They even have a bar to get a cold beer or wine and eat a hot mini-pie. PS … I didn’t catch her name, but I talked to the«chef» about her pies. She has a lot of experience in cooking… and it shows !

The staff was very friendly and helpful! The food wasn’t what I expected at first glance, I expected your ‘typical’ pot pie. It was anything, but typical with a yeast bread type of crust and topping. I took their recommendation and was pleasantly surprised! Also, the peach cobbler was good, not great, but did stay true to their theme. The cobbler was huge and overall worthy of the purchase. I wanted something quick, inexpensive and different and Pouch definitely cam through!

Loved this place. The little pouch pies look small when you first get it, but one pouch and a side of mash will fill you up. Good stuff!

Excellent food! I stopped in for a light lunch and enjoyed it so much, I brought it home for the rest of the family! The little guy for the Mediterranean and needed no one to tell him how to eat it– he dove right in. The crust is flaky goodness and the fillings are delicious. I’ll definitely be stopping by next time I’m in town.

My husband and I stumbled upon this place on our first time in Athens and we fell in love with their savory pies. The portions of the pies are single servings and if you don’t decide to get a side you can opt to eat 2 pies. Their prices are $ 5.50 each for savory pies. I would recommend the paddywack and the Hott Chick… Also I am a huge fan of sweet potato and this restaurant makes them delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try different pies

So my friend and I swung by this place for lunch and we were the only ones there! The menu is conveniently on the wall next to the register. I got the mumpie(Indian) and my friend got the hotchick(Portugal) with beer batter fries. They had Just the right kick! The pies are 5 $ and the fries around 3 $. The crust was flaky and buttery and the fillings were so good! They were both pretty impressive but sadly did not satisfy our hunger. The portions were small and I had to eat some of his fries too. This is from the perspective of a cheap college student but they have a check in offer of a free side so that’s a plus! Can’t wait to come here next time!

Love this place. We have been back many, many times since we first discovered this place, usually taking our food to-go, although they seem to have a good selection of local brews on tap at the bar that looks very enticing. The pies are a little small at first glance, but they are pretty filling, especially the nice flaky crust, and are definitely sufficient for a meal if you get a side with it. Our favorites are the Dinky Di(ground beef in gravy with tomato and oregano) and the Hot Chick(spicy chicken and chorizo sausage in a piri piri and white wine sauce), though we have tried the Pietanic, the Mumpie, the Pork Q pie, and the Paddywhack. They have many different pies to choose from, as many times as we have been here we still haven’t tried all of them. Beyond the pies, the fish and chips are excellent as well! Even when ordered to-go, the tender and well-battered fish is among the best I’ve had. Definitely try the fish and chips here if you’re a fan, I would come here just for the fish and chips even if they didn’t have their amazing pies.

Visited this place on a quick trip to Athens. Very pleasantly surprised by the fresh cooked and delicious pies! The hot chick was so good with a spicy kick! Beer battered fries are a must too.

Incredible! Really. Everything was just perfect, from the food to the service. Just go. BTW– I didn’t understand it from here but the pie is actually a meal, either for a dinner or a lunch.

I came here in the middle of the week for lunch with a friend and it wasn’t crowded at all– mostly because that’s what happens during the summer in Athens. The staff was friendly and courteous. I got the«mumpie» while my friend got the«hot chick». This particular place tends to have themes during the week and the day we went was«British Wednesday’s» so my friend also got beer-battered fish and chips. The mumpie is basically lamb curry in a filo pastry that looks like a pie. It actually tastes authentically like lamb curry and that was impressive. The hot chick was also a good that had chorizo and chicken. The chips tasted very fresh as if they were chopped and made as we ordered them. Although the pie portion was small, it was quality food which was really enjoyable. They looked like they have an extensive bar. I would definitely visit again, but only to have drinks and want something small to eat with my drinks.

Hidden gem in Athens! It was pretty late at night, and I got the munchies. Normally people would order cookies, but I decided to make a run for it and get to Pouch after finding it on Unilocal. They were closing when I got there, but the staff were nice enough to get me one of their pies they had left over. It was really tasty! Filled me up so I could sleep, so that’s a plus. I’m not sure about an actual meal, so my only gripe is that it’s kinda expensive for 1 pie. Nevertheless, the service is amazing and nice so definitely stop by for a snack!

You know what I want to know? I want to know why there isn’t a line out the door and around the block for this place. Pouch serves up a delicious variety of savory pies in the tradition of all things pasty. Herein is the tradition of stuffing a pastry full of meat, vegetables, fish, and savory ingredients. Seriously, why aren’t you here? Plus, Pouch has a full bar, in case you feel the need to induce a hangover before you soothe it. And they’re open until 2am on the weekends! Perfect for a late-night, after drinking stop. Meat pies are a long-standing, post-drinking tradition.(Curing hangovers since 1659!) This is a family run establishment.(Dave, his wife, and his daughter.) Dave took a few moments to talk with us. Dave is a really cool fellow. He says this is his first time doing the restaurant thing(was otherwise always involved in the construction biz). Frankly, I think he’s knocked it out of the park with this restaurant. I hope he continues to have fun with it. One pie might seem rather small, but add a side and you’ve got a full meal. I ordered two pies, and it was simply too much food. And Pouch served up this deliciousness quickly and cheaply! Each pie was $ 5, and our food reached the table only a couple of minutes after we sat down. One group of friends ordered after us, and they were still deciding where to sit when their food arrived from the kitchen. I had a «Paddywhack» pie and«Boykie.» Dave recommended both of these and I happily took the recommendation. The Paddywhack is described as «the hair of the dog that bit ya!» Steak and bacon simmered in Smithwick’s Irish ale. It was really good. But the Boykie was the real winner: beef in a cracked black pepper and creamy red wine sauce. Absolutely an instant favorite. I intend to go back and more thoroughly explore this menu. I must try the Pietanic. And maybe even a Hot Chick. Each pie is described as having a country of origin /influence. The Paddywhack lists Ireland – Boykie lists South Africa. There’s even a Georgia, USA influenced Pork Q Pie, and an Indian influenced Mumpie.(And even a couple of things for the vegetarians amongst us.) So forget the hamburger you were about to get down the street. Allow me to invite you to explore this menu with me. Holler if you’re coming with!

Outstanding. Good food & support friendly. I had the paddywhack with traditional mashed potatoes and gravy. The crust is really flaky. Mmmmmm. Good place for drinks and cards. Generous pours. Not packed with annoying frat kids. It’s run by a nice Scottish couple and their daughter.

Pouch has quickly become my favorite cheap lunch place on Broad Street. I’ve eaten 6 of their pies so far, and would say the following: The South African one is my favorite, it has a novel taste and is very enjoyable and filling. The Scottish and the Portugese are two and three respectively. The Scottish is filling and homey in a good way, and the Portugese is spicey and lively. The English one, then the Australian, then the Indian one round out the options. Note that none of these are bad. Note that I am far from the only one sharing this opinion – so be ready for potentially long lines if you go at peak times. One pie is enough unless you’re particularly hungry.
