The food, service and friendliness were excellent. Would recommend. Try the nachos fajitas! :)

Not good. They serve Tex-mex but it does not seem to be fresh. It more like they take it out of a box and heat it up in a microwave. Pass!

Had the Mexican tacos. They were terrible. The cilantro looked and tasted old. The steak had a funny oily taste to them. The tortillas were flour instead of corn. Figured a Mexican restaurant would know how to do Mexican tacos right. But they did have Jarritos. Heard a lot of hype from frienda about this place but I was disappointed.

Just ate here for the first time with my mom. We LOVE Mexican food and really enjoy trying new restaurants… We are foodies. Sr. Sol did not disappoint. The food was incredible. It may look like just any Mexican restaurant, but it is phenomenal. They not only bring you complimentary chips and salsa, but they also bring a guacamole sauce and another hot sauce. All three are excellent. I got the veggie nachos and my mom got the veggie quesadilla. It was way more food than we should have eaten, but we didn’t leave behind a crumb. If you’re considering this place… Just do it! You will not be disappointed. We will be back! :)

Great Mexican restaurant. Some of the best food in Athens. Very good service and the restaurant was very clean. Would recommend that everyone should give them a try.

This place reminds me of the Mexican restaurants I frequented as a child growing up in Texas. The décor and booths looked straight out of my 80s childhood but were ironically clean and comfortable. There is a breakfast menu which I haven’t tried, but I was impressed that there is one available. In Texas breakfast offerings at Mexican places were pretty common. I haven’t found that to be the case here in Ga. I had the Torta Cubana and it was excellent. My husband had the Nachos Fiesta and I didn’t try it, but the plate was huge and piled high. We were impressed with how inexpensive the food was. I’m assuming they make the majority of their profit off their alcohol sales. The children’s menu lacks variety but has Mexican staples such as a taco, quesadilla, or a burrito. If you have a picky eater, or in our case needed something that was less messy there are also cheese burgers or chicken tenders. Overall we impressed with the food and the prices. We will recommend to friends for sure.

I decided to try Sr. Sol with my significant other because of all the great reviews that I read. We’re both a huge fan of tacos and salsa, but this place just didn’t do it for us. None of the salsas were spicy and frankly all tasted the same. Portion sizes were okay considering the price. However, we have not been back and probably will not return.

Sorry for the one star, but the chicken Torta that I had today had almost No Chicken on it. A few crumbles and that was it.

Not the greatest atmosphere, but good standard mexican food. The Tortas Loca is amazing and addictive!

First. there’s 2 Sr Sols around 9 minutes apart from each other so make sure you go to the right one! I don’t know if it was because I hadn’t eaten anything besides lunch the day before but I scarfed down my meal. The Torta Cubana. poof and it’s gone. I don’t think my friends have ever seen me eat so fast. The torta cubana had an egg, sausages, mayo .etc. Basically like a really big hearty breakfast sandwich, definitely savory, greasy, and delicious. Service was fast. Never had to ask for more water or ask twice. Prices are amazing; it was so much food for so cheap!

This has been my favorite restaurant in town since I have been here(8 yrs). I usually go to the original location on tallassee, which is amazing, but this one is just as wonderful. I have never had a complaint to make except for myself when I buy half the menu and have to pay for it.

I lunch here with coworkers at least once a week or so, and the food and service are consistently on point. We are always in and out quickly without feeling rushed. Regular, hot, and verde salsas are all on hand and everything from the cilantro to the jalapeños are fresh. Soft tacos are something special here. I’ll give them a fifth star if I can ever make it in for dinner to try their margaritas.

We decided to have lunch here on 3÷31÷15 after looking for suggestion on Unilocal and seeing the rave reviews(for the most part) of this restaurant. We were visiting my husband’s parents who live in nearby Watkinsville. My husband went to UGA. When my husband was going to UGA, he used to go to a Mexican restaurant and loved their chicken fajita quesadillas. Unfortunately the restaurant closed. Well what he didn’t realize until we got there was this W Broad St location of Sr Sol was where his favorite Mexican restaurant was located. In fact, he stated it pretty much looked the same except it had a different name. He had the chicken fajita quesadillas while I had the lunch special with the tamale and chile rellenos. I also had a house margarita which was delicious. The chips accompanying the meal with the salsa was yummy. My husband said the quesadilla tasted exactly as he had when it was the other restaurant. My food was delicious though the tamale was a bit dry. The chile rellenos was excellent! The service was wonderful and everything was served hot! The lunch portions were a good size, and without tip, our meal was barely $ 20 which included my margarita and my husband’s soda! We definitely plan on going back again!

I feel that I am a hard customer to please when it comes to certain things(such as receiving excellent customer service) & Sr Sol did not disappoint. We were greeted as soon as we walked in & sat immediately. Less than a minute after being seated our chips & salsa arrived along with our server. Our server, April, was amazing & gave us Excellent service from beginning to end. She took our drink & food order promptly & everything was perfect. My husband ordered the #1 combo… Delicious! I ordered the Camarones Diablo(which is one of my favorites to order when it’s on someone menu)…Fantastic! No complaints what so ever. We were in & out with in about an hour but we were in no rush, our service was just that good. We will Definitely be Back & ask for April :)

My roommate introduced this restaurant to me during my freshman year here at UGA, and since then it has easily been my favorite restaurant in Athens. Sr. Sol’s has the most authentic Mexican food in Athens, and just makes you feel at home and relaxed. When you walk in you see college students celebrating the end of test week, families celebrating birthdays, and even older couples going on a date night– and it just feels like home. Their claim to fame is definitely the chips and salsa. The chips are always hot, and they bring out three salsas for you to try. One is a pretty regular salsa, the second is a more spicy/tomato-y salsa, and the third is a very spicy salsa verde. I love their arroz con pollo– finally a restaurant that doesn’t skimp on the cheese sauce! Nachos, enchiladas, and burritos are also always very satisfying. Birthday celebrations here are great, and the staff here are very friendly and always recognize their customers. Love Sr. Sol’s and would recommend it to anyone!

Ate here a few days ago. I have always gone to the original location so wanted to try the bigger restaurant. We came on a busy night on Mexican Independence Day. They apparently chose this night to start a new computer system for the servers so screw ups were going to happen. There was El Pastor cooking outside so I was hungry just coming into the restaurant. We were greeted immediately and taken to our seat. After 5 mins we got our chips and salsa. These were good but not great. The chips were cold. We then waited for our waitress for a while. I asked if they were running any specials and she said no and then said everything was 20% off. Our drinks were good but took a while and then began the wait. 45 mins for a taco plate, chicken dish and kids dishes. No that can’t be right. She came twice to check on us but did not refill our chips. Did not tell me that they were giving free tacos to each customer until I saw others getting them. I asked about it so I got one. We were a party of five and I am the only one who got one. What about basic manners and courtesy? When the food came I was ready to just pack it and go home. Thank god I stayed. The food is fantastic. It is authentic and is not Tex-Mex just Mex. Our kids loved it too. I think this is the best Mexican in Athens. They need to train their servers a bit better and I can’t see why they won’t be a success at this new location.

I ate at Sr. Sol for the first time about a week ago, and I was pleasantly surprised at this Mexican restaurant. From the road, it doesn’t look like much, but inside, it is nicely decorated and the service was excellent. When we sat down, we were given chips and three different types of salsas, which were delicious. One was the traditional salsa they give you everywhere, and the other two were a cilantro and a chipotle, which were more spicy than the first. Very good. We also had cheese dip, which was just white cheese that resembled all other cheese dips I’ve had. I ordered the chicken burrito, which comes with sour cream, beans, «special sauce»(really just an enchilada-like sauce), veggies, and cheese in a flour tortilla. I requested they leave out some ingredients, and while the first one they gave me still had everything in it, once I made my server aware of the issue, she was attentive and quickly fixed it for me. That was definitely a highlight of the experience. Once I got my food, the flavors were really good! The«special sauce» really made the dish. I will definitely go back!
