This place is awesome for an end-of-the-day-beer. The place is tiny and there aren’t enough seats and parking lot is small. BUT, they have a great selection of local brews and other cocktails that will take the stress right off of your shoulders. The food is awesome too. I’m not much of a lamb person so I haven’t had any of there lamb dishes, but from my friend who eats lamb, she liked it a lot.

I don’t get here often, mainly because it isn’t very kid friendly, which doesn’t bother me cuz it’s not supposed to be. But I love this place, the atmosphere is great, the food is tasty and well priced, and they have a great beer selection. Just an all around great experience every time I go, and a gem in the Athens area.

As others have posted this place is outstanding. A great English pub atmosphere and delicious, fresh food. My wife had the lamb meatball special and I had the special pie of the day – both were amazing. The service was excellent as well. Great beer selection too. We’ll be back.

I got a burger here for lunch and it was fine. Nothing really stood out to me here. The burger was supposed to be medium but it seemed like it was medium rare which wasn’t something I enjoyed.

Interesting selection of brews, but the service sucks; the server is somebody’s girlfriend and quite indifferent as to paying attention to much of anything

A friend let me crash for the night so I took her out to dinner the night before at The Royal Peasant. It’s a mock British Pub which begs me to wonder if it’s true to its food genre. Having studied abroad in London back in the day, there are a few foods that definitely line my list of favorites. Things that I tried included: –shepherd’s pie –lamb burger — — — - Shepherd’s Pie: This is one of my favorite dishes back in England. There’s something about minced meat and mashed potatoes that really fill a girl up. This was served with a side of arugula salad which is something that I also like quite a bit. PROS –good quantity, definitely shareable if you are a light eater –nice balance with the arugula CONS –watery: it would have been better to have cooked the vegetables and drained any excess water before baking the shepherd’s pie. The water made the mashed potatoes a bit too soft and runny for my taste — — – Lamb Burger: my friend actually ordered this dish but was kind enough to let me try a bite so that I could write about it. PROS –really good flavor: the seasoning was balanced enough so that the gaminess of the meat didn’t overwhelm us –good portion, definitely filling CONS –none — served with a side of fries. It’s hard to mess up fries. I’d definitely stop by again to try their fish and chips. Their happy hour looked pretty good too, especially with their outdoor seating. Parking is hard to find though if you come right at the dinner hour. There are reserved spots for the liquor store next door so that takes up some of the space. I’d recommend going early or carpooling if possible. Definitely worth checking out though!

I got their lamb burger with fries and really liked the seasoning for both. The lamb patty was cooked medium well and tasted gamey but not too gamey, I just wish the seasoning of the patty wasn’t just on the outside of the patty. The center of the patty wasn’t as flavorful, but the spicy onions gave it a nice kick. The seating inside was pretty limited, so my friend and I sat on the patio but it felt really crowded when people were trying to walk around our table to get to their seats and there were a lot of bugs flying around. I liked the service and do want to try their other lamb menu items sometime.

Brit food, why yes please! My friend loves this place and decided to take me for lunch. Great, fresh food and tasty! PARKING parking lot INTERIOR/EXTERIOR small with limited seating. there’s a patio/outdoor seating. full bar and tons of draft beer available. SERVICE sweet, attentive, and suggestive FOOD –House Chips [garlic oil/mayo o’day](4): tasty fries. didn’t care much for the sauce. we had a horseradish dip that day instead of the garlic oil/mayo. –Shepherds Pie [lamb, peas, carrots, mashed potatoes](9): hands down one of the best shepherds pie I’ve had. Fresh ingredients and delicious. ONLYONTUESDAY! It’s a Tuesday Special. Overall, affordable eats and delicous.

This is really a cute fun place and the food is nice. But as a vegetarian I was wishing for more options. The only thing available was a veggie curry. It was okay! I did love eating outdoors and the ambiance was nice in the five points area.

One of our favorite places in athens. Great atmosphere, never had anything we didn’t like and best place to watch a game in town. Quaint and a perfect place To sit outside and watch world go by in 5 points, Yet it can also get just rowdy enough during a soccer game on weekends . Just a fun place to stop in and sit down . Lamb burger is probably my choice burger in town, fish and chips are fantastic, heck even the grilled cheese is the best I’ve ever had . Staff is wonderful, nice selection of drinks and drafts and mike the owner is a really nice guy too.

The food was excellent. Good selection of brews. They are next to Five Points and Five Points Growler, so there is plenty of beer to try. Actually picked up a gallon Growler after leaving — really good Porter. Thanks to my bro’s fiancé for getting us both a Growler. Anywho…to continue, I had the mutton burger, er, lamb burger, whatever they called that delicious burger I ate. It was perfectly cooked, savory, makes me look at sheep in a totally different light — now I just see a burger with 4 pork chops walking around, but I digress. My brother had the fish and chips, cause it was a pub and he thought it would be appropriate. I tried a bite and it was just fucking great! After that, I wanted to try everyone’s plate, and I did. My wife got a curry dish that was«WOW» and I was a bit pissed off that I had eaten in the past two days because I would have enjoyed gorging myself for an hour or two. These guys desperately need a sampler dish. The place is small and always crowded. There is a bar area with some seating inside — TVs playing soccer matches. The outdoor patio works well, summer or winter. They cover the patio in the winter and have heaters outside. Like I stated earlier, they are next to Five Points, so when you try a brew you like, you can go next door and continue the party at home.

This unassuming quaint restaurant sits next to Five Points Bottle Shop with very limited parking. The inside fills up quickly but the patio is a nice alternative. The crisp appetizer can be hit or miss, as the chips can be stale, but just send them back and they’ll send out a fresh plate. The fish and chips are by far the best that I’ve had, better than Gordon Ramsay’s! Sticky toffee pudding is ok. But Gordon Ramsay has them beat there. All in all, this is one of my favorite Athens restaurants.

Excellent English food(not an oxymoron!!) and a great beer list. I had the bangers and mash with curry gravy while my colleague had the shepherds pie. Both were outstanding! Be advised that the seating area is small and loud and they don’t take reservations, so be prepared to have a beverage or two until a table opens up… and you won’t be disappointed.

Ah, Five Points, Athens! I was heading to the GRN office and decided to grab a quick lunch. I’m so very glad I stopped off at They Royal Peasant. It was just past the lunch rush, and only a handful of tables still had patrons(who seemed to be engaged in protracted business-meeting-discussions). I planted myself at the bar. In no time, I had my drink at my hand, and had received some good recommendations from my waitress(she, in spite of trying to steer me towards the vegetarian options on the menu, succeeded in helping me pick a very good meal for myself). I had the lamb burger. I had ordered it medium, but it came out medium rare. I’m not complaining. It was delicious. And it was also kind-of simple – a delicious lamb patty topped with some coarse mustard, lettuce, and a tomato slice. Simple but fantastic. In fact, I was just sitting there, eating my sandwich, and when I looked down, the whole thing had disappeared. Gone. I’m still not sure what happened. It was amazingly good. As were the fries. I tend to not eat my fries anymore, but these were a perfect accompaniment to the burger. Tip: ask for some spicy mayo. Great with the fries or on the burger. I may have to stop off for lunch here again. Holler if you’re coming with.

This might be my favorite current restaurant in Athens, if only because it’s the only one I’ve been to frequently within the last few years and have not been disappointed by one time, and especially considering how affordable everything is, that’s majorly impressive. I love a restaurant that only has a few menu items but does them right — I hate having a million choices and hate even more when most of them are mediocre. Of course, there’s nothing limited about the bar, which offers all kinds of awesome specialty cocktails and of course beers. My favorites: House Chips, Lamb Stew with Baguette, Poutine, Fish and Chips, and of course the banging Bangers and Mash. A note: I recently told a friend that I had gone here the night before, and she said«I heard that place wasn’t good because it was all English fare.» She heard wrong. Yes, I’ve had bad English pub food, and yes, English pub food has a bad reputation among the rest of the world. But this is food that is done by people who care, and I don’t know if it’s English expats, American psychos, or Burmese toddlers they’ve got back there in the kitchen, they are doing it up GOOD. So, that’s all I care about. Another note, I do not think it’s Burmese toddlers and IRL I WOULD care if it was

Solid lamb burger! However, it’s overpriced pub food with small portions. No kids menu/prices. The grilled cheese for 9 dollars is just disappointing. I won’t be back. Not mad but there are far better places in Athens for the price point.

I had my reservations at first, but Royal Peasant’s veggie curry was pretty tasty. Though, if you’re looking for heat I’d pass. I really enjoy the additions in each dish. For the ploughman’s platter, marinated chicken skewers accompanied by pickled okra, arugula, a hearty bread and cheese, with pickled peppers. The veggie curry has summer veggies over masala rice with naan and tzatziki sauce. I find the tzatziki to be really watered down though. The rest of the dish is very flavorful. The next time I’m back, it’ll be the homemade chips with Bleu cheese or maybe the stew since that looked really good too. Anyways, the Royal Peasant is all around good pub food with a British flair. There isn’t a lot of seating indoors, but outside is spacious. Surprisingly, ended up here late on a Tuesday and expected it to be loud and loaded, but found it to be very mellow. I guess it’s that weekday lull? It was really chill, either way. Lunch can get packed though.

Very good duck poutine here, you must try it for an appetizer. After that I strongly recommend the fish and chips the batter is lovely and crisp like mother nature intended. You can get the double portion for 14.99 if your hungry. Great selection of beers on tap as well. This fine establishment is located right by the Five Points Bottle Shop. Parking was a breeze and it took us five minutes from downtown. If you plan on drinking the night away in Athens start off with a nice hearty meal here, you might even catch yourself having fun!
