There’s a $ 12 cover charge but on the night we went, which happened to be my honey’s birthday, the dude at the door let me in for free! Great music, great drinks and an even cooler atmosphere! I can’t wait to go back!

We watched Sandra Hall and the Shadows a few nights ago and she was incredible! Cover was $ 12 but it was great music and an awesome atmosphere, so it was worth it to me. I ordered«dinner» here before the show and wasn’t too impressed. It was a limited selection of basic Cajun food. The place fills up fast so don’t come in after 11 on the weekends and expect a seat. Friendly people. Nice tunes.

I love this place. They always have great Blues entertainment from yesterday to now. The house band is fantastic. The crowds are more than willing to show their appreciation and the food is good too.

My husband and I went on a Saturday night, and I must say the place was a real treat! Great blues, crowd and gumbo! Very casual and relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff. I would definitely go back again for jazz and blues!

We went on a Wednesday night when Scott Glazer’s Mojo Dojo was playing and they are AWESOME — if I could rate them solo it would be 5 stars. Blind Willie’s w/o the band(s) although well ventilated is your tho oak Atl dive bar — extra salty food, cheap drinks, uncomfy seats, and bare minimum service staff. Overall I would return, but I’d eat elsewhere first and then come check out the live band(s).

Place is cool, Atmosphere, food, drinks all good. People very accommodating. Musicians are friendly. Plays stayed pack. Small venue not enough room to move around. Bathrooms are co-ed.

Went here for the first time a week ago for some impromptu blue dancing. I loved the vibe of the place and the Louisiana-Blues charm it has. The night I went sooo many people were getting up to dance from the music of the band. It seems that was a major component to why folks showed up; only trouble is that there was omitted space and therefore extremely crowded. Drinks were very good but pricer than what I expected for that type of venue.

Pros — Awesome spot for blues music. Divey. Rex flag on wall, Mardi Gras beads and Christmas lights from ceiling. Cons — packed on weekends, Cover charge, EXPENSIVE drinks Overall– Eat dinner prior to and pre-game.

If you like smoky bars with close up personal entertainment, this is your kind of place. Emily the waitress is absolutely fantastic. For me, don’t allow smoing and I would be there once a month …

Very interesting place that looks like a hole in the wall(it is) but can be a lot of fun to go in and watch some blues musicians. If your a virgin to the blues game like I was then I would recommend going here and seeing if you like it. I have only been to 2 shows but the musicians were very talented and the drinks are reasonably priced. Only stipulation is that you have to be ok with the dark beat down vibe that you would expect with a blues joint. Give it a shot!

Went here on a Friday night to listen to live music and have some drinks. Located on virginia highlands but it stands out amongst its neighboring bars. Live music starts at 9:30 and different musicians will take turn getting on the stage. We got there around 11 and paid $ 15 each to get in. The place was already packed when we got there! There wasn’t anymore seating available but no problem because I like to stand and drink and jam out to the music. We went straight to the back for the bar and grabbed some drinks(which were cheap!) the musicians on the stage were amazing and the crowd was feeling it! People come here to have a good time! No judgement zone! Dance as you like, there is no wrong or right way to jam out to the blues. Come here for a different experience than your normal nightclub spots in atl.

Had a great time on a Saturday night. The cover was $ 12 for a guest singer whose name I can’t recall but apparently is a GA Music Hall of Famer. The place was perfect for a blues bar, and the only negative was how packed it was. This is mainly because I wanted to dance, but kept getting side-eye from folks that I was close too. This one lady even tapped me and my date, told us that she didn’t want to «grind» with us. –__– It’s a blues bar, not a gala where you can reasonably expect not to be touched. We brushed against her like twice. Sooo, couldn’t dance like I wanted until some people left; we stole a table and got the space we needed to do our thing. The band played excellently and the guest singer had us in good humor. Drinks weren’t that strong though, and I didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food. Will be back mostly for music and that dive feel, probably drink elsewhere first and arrive early enough to grab a seat!

I came here midweek and had a blast. Good music and musicians. Bartender was a cool lady who kept the place live… forgot her name(sorry!) I’ll definitely be back here on my next trip to ATL. Caveat, it is a small building.

I had a great time at Blind Willie’s. It’s nestled in Virginia Highlands in close proximity to several very douche-bag infested bars… but Blind Willie’s was not douchey at all! The atmosphere was very laid back but there was a good sized crowd on a Friday night. I was lucky enough to see Ms. Sandra Hall, the Empress of the Blues. She was pretty much outstanding! She put on a great show, engaged the audience, and sang the blues like nobody’s business. I would definitely recommend going on a night when she is performing. I am sure all of the other musicians are great too. Something has kept them in business for 27 years! The drinks were not the best in the city but they were priced right and the bartenders were friendly. There is also table service if you get there early enough to get a table. I felt like I was in New Orleans when I was here and it’s nice to go to a bar in Atlanta that kind of takes you on a vacation, so to speak. I am looking forward to going back soon!

I love this place, the only bad thing is the smoking. If you luck out and get a non-smoking crowd it is an awesome place to have a couple of drinks and enjoy some live music. I’ve been several times now and am never disappointed with the music or the staff. If they would eliminate smoking the other 95% of the audience would really appreciate it and we would go more often.

Blind Willie’s is an old school bar where the focus is on the music on stage versus the shenanigans that happen at other bars in the Highlands. You’re almost guaranteed to see great music on any night. There are lots of tables spread out around the stage and a small bar in the back. One thing I love about this bar is the table service. No need to run back and forth to the bar while you’re trying to listen to some excellent jazz, blues, or rock. Fair covers, great music, and good beer prices make this a winner in my book. Shout our to Too Slim who played on the night I was there and really rocked it!

Spend a whole evening there. we were one of the first ones for the night. I could write pages of all the great stuff they have. The server and bartender were awesome very polite beyond friendly and just great. The food was amazing, it was well above pub grub. The music was great. Had just an amazing experience and would plan another trip to Atlanta just to go here again

This place is famous for blues. It opened in 1986, and has been the center of the blues scene in Atlanta ever since. They have live music six nights a week(often 7 nights as they open most Sundays in the summer); the music usually starts up at 9:30pm. Cover charge can be as low as $ 3. Their website has a calendar with the charge for each night. Full bar, table service, food served, and smoking allowed(It’s a blues joint, people — that’s the way it should be! And I don’t smoke). The tables are packed in to leave a bit of room for dancing. Weeknights are chill, weekends are slamming. Service is inconsistent in my experience. It’s an institution. Real blues is played here, and the crowd is really diverse, both ethnically and age-wise. I love Blind Willie’s.
