Went here with two friends and had a great meal! We wanted to try as much as possible so we split multiple items. The prices were a little lower than what has been quoted in other reviews here so perhaps they are adjusting them. Everything we tasted was so fresh, and flavorful! We had two cucumber yogurt soups, and amazing salad with fruit avocado nuts etc, a chevre and fig pizza(the star!) and a side of the heirloom tomatoes(pretty much a salad type portion, definitely a good size to share). The service was friendly, attentive, and comfortable; sort of felt like being at a friend’s for dinner! They were still waiting for their alcohol license, and mentioned they would have a corking fee then, but we were happy with our BYOB So glad to have this near me & will be visiting again!

Dynamic dish, you are so difficult. I went here the other night for dinner. Barely finding parking in the crack addicted neighborhood surrounding DynamicD, we made it to the safe heaven of deliciousness. We had a reservation, so we were seated right away. The menu was posted across the room, and given that my eyes called it quits for the day, I could barely make out the menu. They were out of the main delicious vegan course, so I had to settle for some sides as my main dish. Über lame! The service was quite good, but the delivery of food was terrible. Instead of bringing everything in coordination, the food is brought to the table the instant it is ready. So you are sitting there with a hot soup, waiting for your friend to get a salad so that everyone eat at the same time. Weak sauce! Then came the bill, the jaw on the floor, and the crying as the credit card was put on to cover the meal. For what it is worth, the food itself was amazing. I really enjoyed my soup and the home made bread they carry. If they just improve a few things and not try to be super hipsterish, I think this place has potential for awesomeness.

Yummy yummy. Oh, so yummy. One day when I’m rich I will eat here all the time! Pros: Atmosphere, food, service, food, food, extremely delicious food. Oh, and the tasty amazing food. Cons: It’s sustainable organic food, so it costs more. It’s totally worth it, but if I ate here as often as I’d like, I’d need a second job. And, as always in the neighborhood, parking sucks.

This place was highly recommended to me by my favorite urologist in town. He gushed on and on and on about how I just had to try it. The quick summary: my husband and I had to stop for a second dinner on our way back home from this place after dropping $ 45 here for a dinner for two. The food here is indeed very well prepared. Everything here was absolutely fresh and glistening with dew from the fields so no complaints there. Their menu is very short and succinct so there aren’t usually many choices of each course if you’re too picky of an eater. We split the special salad of the day/week composed of pears, endives, and some nuts. We then split a soup of blue hubbard. Then we split the trout entrée. A note to picky eaters: even though the item(s) that they are featuring may not be your favorite, you may be surprised at how well they can be presented and you may even discover that it could be a favorite afterall… The not as spectacular rating I came up with for this place has to be due to the price. If we had ordered enough food to really feed the two of us for dinner, that would have been close to $ 90 being that we split every order between us for $ 45. In the end, I’m glad that they exist and are in business. Hope it stays that way.

I feel so lucky to have this place as a part of my neighborhood. I think it’s easy for people to forget just how difficult it is to really produce, select and serve food in this climate where value=more. Not only does the restaurant have an amazing ‘family style’ seating concept with large tables and a fresh modern and ‘homey’ feel, the food is what makes it all come together. Every time I go I delight in looking on the limited items on the menu and feel great knowing just how much thought goes into the preparation of the meal based on what’s available in my area. I hope this place can be around forever.

Dynamic Dish I want to have your food baby. The only problem is that I need to get on welfare in order to afford it. $ 22 for a small bowl of very tasty soup and an entrée of quinoa pilaf. –crying loudly– Looks like I will be food babyless forever.

I had a very pleasant dynamic dish experience. The décor was modest and comfortable, the service was excellent and the food was delish. My husband and I ordered a cup of soup(small $ 6.50), a salad($ 13.95), and two dinner entrees. We always share so we get to sample lots of things. I was a bit worried that we had ordered too much food — especially with the $ 13.95 salad, but we comfortably finished it all with room to split a vegan chocolate cupcake and an espresso. What I’m trying to tell you is that the helpings are not as grand as the price. And the taste is tasty. The cup of soup(sweet potato — ginger) was absolutely tantalizing. Paired with the homemade bread they brought out, we were off to a fantastic start. I felt $ 6.95 was a bit too steep for a cup of soup. You could also try to justify it by saying the free basket of bread isn’t really free? I make kick ass soup at home all the time with freshly prepared organic ingredients and I would be hard pressed to find enough ingredients to kick the cost up to anything close to $ 6.95. Gold flakes maybe? Next we had a fennel, apple, carrot salad with cheese(Chevre?) stuffed baby peppers and grapefruit slices. It was wonderful and I appreciated the flavor combining as well as the effort it took to prepare! However, seemed a bit small for $ 13.95. Finally, our entrees: millet cakes with arugula pesto atop grilled zucchini(fabulous), and eggplant slices stuffed with a wonderfully marinated tofu. I thought both of our entrees were delicious and in in my estimation not overpriced. My dining partner and I both agreed that we were glad we were sharing two entrees — eating the whole serving of one entrée may not have been as satisfying as eating a half portion of two different entrees. Our service was excellent. We had early reservations(6:30 p.m. on Friday) which probably helped. We were seated at the«bar» and were attended to by two different servers. They were both pleasant, informative and responsive with requests. Our food arrived very quickly and our green-tea glasses were refilled without asking. :) I’m really picky — I come from Asheville, land of locally grown organic food, prepared with love, gourmet-style, and served at a reasonable prices in artful environments. Pretty much every restaurant in Asheville(veg or not) caters to vegetarians. I am spoiled. I may have gone to 5 stars if the ambiance was a bit warmer/more inviting and the pricing more reasonable. Also, there is no bar here — you can bring your own beer or wine, but I was informed they will charge you $ 10 to uncork your bottle. Thumbs down on that.

BEWARE: My tap water had a very strange taste. I immediately realized I should have ordered bottled water, and that perhaps there was a reason the waitress offered us two kinds of bottled water(somewhat unusual to have a selection of waters). When I used the restroom, to my dismay I noticed a sign on the door that said«Don’t be alarmed if the water is cloudy– it’s because we are the first business in Atlanta to use a rain water filtration system!» The tap water was RECYCLEDRAINWATER, which I find disgusting, considering NOTHING on the menu indicates this, and the server doesn’t inform you that you are about to become an experiment in an emerging technology. Despite this SERIOUSHEALTHCONCERN, the food is great. One thing I really don’t like is that the lettuce in my salad was definitely chopped in a food processor, not by hand. The vegan meatballs were delicious. The chocolate cake is WAYTOOGOOD.

ok, so, if you think the chick-fil-a salads are a «good deal», definitely don’t come here. If you’re trying to understand the f’n concept, don’t come here. go to fellini’s. or butts county. it’s much easier on your obdoooola oblonggattta. the food here is more expensive, but very worth it. my new favorite veg restaurant. oh, and if you want great service, go to oceanaire. they’ll toss your salad too.

Meh. Seems over people here have had the same high hopes for this restaurant, ending in a disappointing experience. I’ve wanted to check out this restaurant for quite a while, after reading rave reviews of it in Bön Appetite and New York Times. The interior has a certain contemporary coziness which I liked. I’m a fan of healthy, organic food and creative ways to use vegetables. My raving stops about there. Service was nearly non-existent. The employees there were certainly not working to earn a tip, and seemed like they could care less. The table set-up is awkward. I’m okay sitting next to someone I don’t know if I’m at a bar but I’m sorry, not at my table. My boyfriend and I went here for lunch. Maybe one can get filled up if you order literally everything off of the limited menu, but I’m not one to spend a great amount of money just for a simple lunch. We spent $ 35 with tip on the lunch special, a salad, and drinks. By 4 we were completely famished and had to eat dinner three hours earlier than we normally do. Maybe the small amount of food in an entrée can be considered filling if have the metabolism of a snail, but for anyone that leads an active life — forget it. The food itself actually is good. My salad was delicious, and very fresh. But will we return? Definitely not for the lack or service, lack of quantity of food, or for the steep price. I would prefer going to Whole Foods buffet, Panera, Carol Street Café, or heck — even the fruit salad at Chick Fil-A is fresh, healthy, and half the price. And it comes with protein included. Go here if you are looking for something unique and fresh. But to enjoy your experience, go with $ 100 and be prepared to just order the whole menu to share so you won’t be hungry later.

At the risk of pontificating too far, before I move on to the Dynamic Dish, let’s discuss what makes a review a review. When one writes review, how does one determine an acceptable visit? Does one take an approach of universalism, rating a restaurant based on objective qualities such as décor, service and food quality? Does one, as Keats stated, find beauty in truth, truth beauty, bestowing 5 stars to those restaurants who achieve some Platonic ideal of gastronomy? Or does one, in writing a review, tend more towards the relativistic in which one’s experience within a restaurant determines its quality, regardless of other seeming absolutes? In other words, despite the high quality of the food, the care taken in preparation, the acclaim given by companions sitting at the very same table, you could merely muster a very whelmed«Meh.» Such are the existential quandaries facing the average Unilocaler. And such is my experience at The Dynamic Dish. In short, the wife loved her turkey sandwich. She applauded the high quality ingredients.(She’s obviously taken to heart her latest forays into«The Omnivore’s Dilemma» and«In Defense of Food.») I, being more of the Xbox/Dipshit variety, was less impressed. I ordered the Patty Pan Quiche, a quiche topped with yellow squash and served at room temperature. To my taste buds, it tasted like… room temperature quiche. Could my palate distinguish between the locally sourced vegetables, the cage-free eggs? Did the freshness implied in each bite burst through with each forkful? No. Then again, my palate is more adept at telling the difference between an Oreo and a Hydrox than it is savoring the latest locovore’s spank material. In other words, I am not the target audience for The Dynamic Dish. My wife knew this when she asked me to lunch. She also knew this when she gladly paid the $ 30+ dollars for the two of us(with only tap water to drink) because 1) she enjoyed her meal greatly and 2) she wisely understood that I would NOT have gladly paid $ 30 for this lunch and would have complained about it for several lunches hence. So what do I rate The Dynamic Dish?(The service was fine, by the way.) Is it even fair that I do so? It’s like asking my opinion on the Jonas Brothers or Dale Jarrett’s latest win or if I’m excited about the new Twilight movie that’s coming out. Unfortunately, Unilocal requires a rating to proceed and as such, I’m going to have to split the difference between relativism and universalism; it’s time I admit to being a raging Kant who encourages others to kiss my a posteriori. I won’t rate TDD as low as I would have were I to just wander in off the street, but I must temper others’ praise with my own experience. In other words, three stars with one very large, very prominent asterisk.

Maybe they’ll label me as someone who just«doesn’t get it». Maybe I’m from a small town that still doesn’t have a free-standing coffee shop… or a Whole Foods… or a free-range, cage-free organic local farmer’s market. And maybe we DID skip school when the Super Wal-Mart opened up in the next town over. So whatever. Yall can kiss my ass. Ok. Sorry. I had high expectations for this place, and I knew what to expect in terms of… vibe. I did. We went on ‘za night. The choices were interesting, and tasty. We tried ¾ available za’s. They were good, I’m not denying that. Albeit pricey. I’ve had better pizza. And I’ve had better«better than you» pizza too. The desserts were just okay. And expensive. $ 2 for a ball of oats called a «cookie»? The famous chocolate cake… I mean sure it was edible. But would I make a pilgrimage just for this thing? Ugh. No. The service… I just can’t stand. WHY. Why does everyone think they’re superior to everyone else? Why so snooty? So pretentious. Why the funny hats?(yes, one of the servers was wearing a hat similar to something Bobby from Bobby’s world would’ve worn. I think it had a propeller on it.) Why the blank stares? Guess what. I don’t know what kind of lettuce SUMMERCRISP is. So «sue me» if I ask before spending $ 13 for a plate of it. I mean whatever. I’m obviously not a fan. The thing is… I do enjoy locally grown fresh food. I love vegetarian options. I fucking get the concept. I just hate the fucking ‘tudes that go along with it. OH. I just remembered, as an addendum. We were the only«table» not to receive the bread. Thanks guys! Every other table had bread, but us.

I was very excited to try this place out, but my excitement was quickly tempered. Upon arriving on a not-too-busy Friday night, my date and I were consistently ignored by the staff. After about 10 minutes of this, we took one of the open tables, upon which we were ignored for another 20 minutes. I went to the counter to ask the fellow there when we might expect someone to come to our table. Said counterman did not acknowledge my existence and went on slicing cake until my two minutes’ worth of «excuse me“s took effect. My existence having been acknowledged, the fellow went on ramble about something completely unrelated. Frustrated(but still optimistic!), I went back to my table, hoping that the counterman had taken the hint. No such luck. After about five more minutes of unproductive waiting, my date and I decided to take our business elsewhere. As we got up to leave, one of the staff members attempted an apology, which was nice, but it was far too little far too late!

The food here is still absolutely great — the concept, the fresh ingredients, the menu changing daily — it’s just I have to protest the increased pricing since my last visit in January. I came here last week, and the salads went up from $ 8.95 to $ 12.95&14.95. Sandwiches went up from $ 7.95 to $ 12.95. I felt bad b/c I raved about the place to my friends and said we’d be eating delicious locally grown & organic food for under $ 10. My friends did enjoy their food a lot — but paid over $ 20 for a soup & salad. If money isn’t an issue, then by all means, this place is still a gem. I decided to get the cheaper $ 12.95 salad which had Georgia Oak leaf & butter lettuce w/scallions, toasted almonds, avocado & mango, and chive joghurt dressing. Yummy but one hour later, my stomach was already growling. I sampled my friend’s soup & sandwich — soup was delicious, the sandwich just average. The $ 5.95 soup was a Georgia leek & chard w/zucchini & topped with pea shoots, with hints of lemongrass & cayenne. The $ 12.95 sandwich was an Adriatic tuna w/capers, kalamatas & tomato w/side of confetti slaw. A great healthy but overpriced option for lunch if you’re in the Edgewood area.

Food: solid 5 stars Service: no complaints but not extra special, 3.5 to 4 stars Price: umm… my all natural red leaf and warm cheese salad complete with pears and grapes was top notch, but $ 15? Really??? I am willing to pay good money for good food but $ 15 for a salad, even an extra delicious and healthy one, is kind of pushing it. It wasn’t even a giant salad. I will come back for more of their healthy goodness but I am hoping prices improve as the seasons change and more local produce becomes available.

Just thought I would post a quickie update: Ate here for Lunch today, and was blown away again: not just by the amazing food we enjoyed, but the afterglow of eating the healthiest meal in Atlanta that I enjoyed all day following. We had The arugula Salad with hard goat cheese, fava beans, pumpkin seeds and sea salt. And shared a grilled cheese made with aged white cheddar, roasted fennel bulb, and granny smith apples… served with a side of beet and apple salad. WONDERFUL. And as always, service was spot on.

How blessed am I to live on the same street as my favorite fresh delicious healthy restaurant in Atlanta. I love the simple elegant organic décor as much as the salads and the waitstaff :) After many months of coming here, David the owner/chef still blows me away with his brilliant organic vegetarian creations. At other restaurants, I typically order the same thing every time because I know what I like. I’ve eaten something different every time and have love it all. Knowing the quality of the ingredients makes it worth every dollar.

I am giving this place 4 stars because everyone else seems to like it and I do not want to cause a riot. I am sure vegetarians will love it. But… Okay– this place is a veggie restaurant, right? They were serving anchovies on pizza(?) and nothing vegan when I was there except salad. Yech. And sorry Tim R, I was told this place was a vegetarian restaurant, so sue my friends and some other Unilocalers for telling me so(you may want to peruse the other reviews and the category it is in, or tell your boss at DD to change his business info-yeah, saw you on their blog, dude.) On that night there was nothing tasty for vegans. I had high expectations due to reviews. Maybe I will try this place again when I am sure I can eat something on the menu, I obviously went on an off night. But I have learned that their menu changes all the time, so next time they update their blog with something that strikes my fancy I will be back– so many Unilocalers cannot be wrong?

This is a place that I’m excited to recommend! In fact, I’m very tempted to give it a five, but something about it didn’t quite hit that mark. We decided on Dynamic Dish after going on recommendations on Unilocal.I was skeptical because similar writers had ranked Sunflower Café a bit too high in my opinion. The restaurant is located on Edgewood. It is easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. It’s simple storefront was much more modest than I was expecting, but I liked that. It isn’t pretending to be something that it isn’t. The environment is very welcoming and it would be a great place to have dinner with friends. The menu is very simple. There were really only two sandwiches, one salad, a few desserts, and one soup on the menu. When we went up to order, there were a couple more selections offered, but they keep the offerings limited. We had read about the BYOB policy beforehand and I wish we had. The dishes are simple looking, but have incredibly creative and good flavor combinations. One of our dishes was a lentil pâté and apple open-faced sandwich. I don’t think i would have ever thought to put these two food items together, but the combination was quite lovely and exciting. The dishes here are very thoughtful and creative – textures, balance, and aesthetics are well combined. The service was nice too. Our server was very good about giving us a heads up that it might take a little time since it is a very small operation, but we didn’t mind the wait. It really take so long either. There are only a couple things that could have gone a bit better. There could have been a better progression of the food. The food is just brought out when each one is ready. Also, they ran out of some of the items. This wouldn’t have been a problem except that the menu was so limited already. Also keep in mind that the parking is on the street and the area can get pretty crowded. Overall, I love this place. It is my favorite vegetarian restaurant in Atlanta, hands down, and one of my favorite in this price point! It is the first place that I’ve been excited about actively recommending in a while. It is also refreshing to see such innovation in food. I’d recommend this place to any vegetarian OR non. I’ll certainly be back. More pics:

I am about as carnivorous as a person can get. I love it all-nose to tail. Loving meat does not mean that I don’t like vegetables. I crave greens just as much as a juicy steak. When Cliff Bostock wrote about Dynamic Dish, I was intrigued – especially by the promise of a tagine made with organic veggies. I went for lunch yesterday to counteract the effects of the Korean fried chicken I had the day before. Dynamic Dish is located on the small strip of Edgewood near Caf 458. I snagged a primo spot in front of the restaurant using my stellar parallel parking skills that I picked up while living in San Francisco. Upon walking into the restaurant, I was amazed how sleek the interior of the restaurant was. I wasn’t expecting it. The owner, David Sweeney, has impeccable taste and all the eclectic pieces and furnishings somehow fit perfectly together. The persimmons tucked into a wire cubby near the cash register really tickled me. The man has a great eye. The menu(located on the chalkboard behind the counter) is small, but it reflects the pristine organic ingredients he has on hand. I ordered the tagine made with pumpkin, squash, tomatoes and other goodies served on bulgur wheat. Moon ordered the arugula sandwich with Emmentaler cheese on buttered whole grain bread. We both got the beet salad. The beverage selection is limited, but I did not mind. Sodas would be out of place here. We decided to share a bottle of sparkling water in some tiny glasses that Sweeney brought to table complete with slices of lemon. As we waited for our food, I took in my surroundings and couldn’t help feeling like I was in New York or Europe – not Edgewood. Sweeney arrived with our dishes and the colorful food lit up the table. The ingredients of the tagine were very good and the combination just felt like autumn. My only problem with the dish was the lack of salt – I imagine he is trying to keep the sodium content down and I would rather add salt than eat a very salty dish any day. Moon liked his sandwich and I was so tempted to take a bite, but my moderation mantra kept me from doing so. The beet salad was the undisputed star of the meal. The beets were julienne and tossed with dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, a little maple syrup, vinegar, and something else I cannot remember. Just a stellar combination of flavors that exploded in my mouth. I loved it and would go back for that dish alone. Being the shopaholic that I am, I perused the mix of items for sale. Sweeney has some pretty neat stuff that he has collected from estate sales and other sources. I scored a gorgeous crystal dish on a pedestal for a mere $ 7.50. Verdict: An adorable spot with some wholesome food that is well worth the trip. I hope that you guys get out there and support a restaurant with loads of heart that won’t be bad for yours.
