Ferst Place is a good alternative to the crowded digs on the first and second floors in the student center. For one price, you get the hot line, soup, salad, dessert, and a beverage. You can take as many trips up as you like. The menu is usually posted on the website by the week. In addition to meat and vegetarian entrees, there is an action station that may have pasta, burgers, or even ice cream sundaes. If you’ve got a group, try to make reservations the day before. Thursday is fried chicken day and it’s VERY popular, so if you don’t get there early, expect to wait a bit before you are seated. The staff here are also great. Ferst Place is sort of a gem tucked away. Many students don’t know about it, and you’re likely to see a higher percentage of faculty and staff dining there than in the food court, but it is open to everyone. There is a frequent diner program with either a paper card or Qbot. Every 8th meal is on the house.

Best deal for lunch on Georgia Tech’s campus, in my opinion. Only open on weekdays at lunchtime, Ferst Place serves a fixed menu that usually consists of a meat entrée, vegetarian entrée, two sides, and dessert. There is also a rotating«action station» that will serve special entrees on some days and special desserts(for example, ice cream sundaes) on other days. It’s all you can eat. It’s hard to beat the value here — as much to eat as you want at a modest price($ 9.99 + tax). I’ve eaten Ferst Place’s burgers, fried chicken, and fish entrees. For entrees that are cooked in catering platter quantities, it’s quite good. There’s also a salad bar with plenty of great vegetable options and also pasta, tuna, or chicken salads, depending on the day. Soft drinks and coffee are included in the price. Ferst Place is located in the Student Center above the second floor food court. If you have time for a longer sit-down meal, it’s definitely worth walking up the extra flight of stairs.
