My first time here was good. The 3 stars is the average of my 1st and 2nd time. This evening my non-vegan wife and I were deciding where to eat in Little 5. She said«let’s give the vegan place our money.» Couldn’t agree more. We couldn’t look over a menu when we got there b/c there was only one menu taped to the place where you order. As a result, we waited a least 5 mins for the person in front of us to look over the menu and have items explained to her. She asked if we knew what we wanted offering to let us go ahead, but we too needed to look at the one menu 1st. We order, pay and sit at our table for what seems to be 20 mins. I guess up to ask how much longer our food will be b/c we had to get somewhere else but 8. She just has a blank stare and after a few silent moments indicates that not only is our order not done, the kitchen never got it! Idk how considering she entered SOMETHING in a computer that came up with our bill. It was not busy or anything. I told her that we would just have to leave b/c we didn’t have time to wait if the order was never put in. My wife tells her how we made an effort to go to THAT restaurant and the cashier replies, «Sorry! I’m only human!» I get that she’s only human, but submitting our order was the ONLY and single most important thing she had to do. We were there for 30 mins for no reason. Also, having worked in service, a more appropriate response to making an error is «I’m sorry. What can I do to make it up to you? Let me get my manager» to try and give us some reason to return and to take the bad taste out our mouths. No. She just said sorry, I’m only human. No attempt to troubleshoot or remedy the situation. Well, I’m sorry I had this experience, b/c as a vegan I always try to patronize local vegan restaurants, but this bad experience may have created an exception.

The food is so tasty! The girl who works the counter was nice too. They have good prices in comparison to other vegan/vegetarian restaurants.

Great restaurant, great service, great food! We were very happy with our dining experience here and if I’m ever back in Atlanta, I would come to this neighborhood and restaurant again. Don’t skip dessert!

Food was great! I had the tsunami wrap with a side Sari salad, homemade lemonade and a dark chocolate vegan brownie! Price was great, ingredients were very fresh and everything was fresh to order. They even texted me when it was ready and i was able to go shop at rag-o-rama down the street! lovely!

This place is awesome! Just popped into the Atlanta area for a day from Los Angeles, where we are spoiled with amazing vegan/vegetarian options all over; sometimes traveling it is hard to find awesome veg places; but we stumbled upon this place on Unilocal and we are stoked! The service is incredible and they were very accomodating to the people I came with who have so many food allergies and things they can’t eat. They were happy to cater and reinvent menu items to serve their needs, and were very patient and gave great suggestions. The brazilian fries are insanely good. We got a lot of food and everything was on point. My gari wrap was a great choice and I got it with the spinach wrap with added kale. Definitely recommend the place, AND they are open until 10 so that worked out for a late dinner;) At the end I took a bite of my friends chocolate tart, which was both gluten free and vegan. Rock on Go Vindas!

Nice staff. But NOOOO flavour and $ 28 down the drain for our two meals. I had a small salad w/a small coup of the mung bean soup which was absolutely flavourless. My friend had a burrito that was basically just filled w a bunch of rice and no flavour. Would not recommend it… Heard the cakes are good though. I also heard the buffé are better. But that was almost sold out when we came since we had late lunch.

I was SO ready to love this place. I love trying new vegetarian food and was really excited to hear about Go Vinda’s in Little Five Points. We arrived at around 8pm and waited 10 minutes while the only cashier very slowly chatted with the only person in front of us. After ordering, we waited 50 minutes for our two sandwiches and fries only to see the other table being given our food. Food went back into the kitchen and finally got to us. The Mama G’s subs were soggy by the time we ate them. They were bland and not at all worth the $ 8.50 price. I have a strong stomach but my partner and I were nauseous all night after eating here. Ordinarily I would give them a second chance, but the very long wait, poor service, and mediocre food really turned me off.

I love Go Vinda! The food is delicious, affordable and healthy. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The dining area is not very big but this is not a problem as it’s usually not crowded so there is always a very pleasant atmosphere, thanks in no small part to the servers/cashiers who are always very nice, helpful and efficient. Parking is tricky, because of the area. But I like that it’s there, in Little 5. My girlfriend and I like eating in L5P, at places like Elmyr, Ali Baba and others, so it’s nice to have that vegan option just down the block. We go about once a month. So yeah, can’t go wrong with Go Vinda! Looking forward to going again!

I really wanted to give 5 stars but they just didn’t cut it for me. Someone stated it was better than Go Vegetarian so I HAD to come try… I love that it is in little 5 points and it does have a nice feel inside. Pleasant and laid back atmosphere with yummy looking desserts on display. They had a tasty looking Indian style Buffett out but I opted to try something off of the menu. I like that they offer soy free and gluten free food. I ended up ordering the Chit Sub since it came highly recommended. I also had a side of the Brazilian fries. The chit sub was really on two small loaves of bread… The contents of the sub were lacking. I felt as though they served it on so much bread to take away from the fact that there was barely anything in it and you would get full off of the bread. I wish that I took a picture. That was not a good feeling especially since I paid $ 8.50 for it. The fries were ok. Just plane crinkle cut fries that I could have eaten at Zesto’s across the street. I ordered the soy gelato and loved it as expected. A guy came in and played his guitar… It was nice… Overall… I would eat here again, but I would have to try the Buffett… I still think Go Vegetarian is better. Sorry!

This is the best Vegetarian /Vegan spot in the city. Don’t get me wrong I love Soul Veg and Go Vegetarian, but this place is just packing the flavor in. So far my favorite has been the Sloppy Joe and the cap sub. If I was going to introduce anyone to the world of eating better this would be my first stop. The only downside is the decoration isn’t 100% and the leaky AC outside is a bit of a draw back for window shoppers, but the food more than makes up for it !

Great food and great service! Being a vegan and visiting Atlanta proved to be a challenge for me. I couldn’t find many vegan restaurants and worried I would starve. Until I found this place. The cuisine was great! I got the«steak» sandwich and devoured it super fast. It’s worth the price — you will get a very decent serving and may even have some leftovers. And the lady who served us was so sweet. I forget her name — it was pretty and exotic — but she’ll definitely take care of you guys when you visit. This may not appeal to those vegans who hate any fake meat foods, but for those of us who do like the fake meats, this place is definitely worth visiting!

Great food, super friendly and vegan safe Let me start by saying the cashier’s friendly greeting when we walked in the door set the tone for the whole experience. Maybe we were nervous given unfriendly experiences with help at other vegan restaurants, but the pleasant greeting, smile and since she was ringing someone’s order up saying«I’ll be right with you» really made us feel welcome. In fact I had called the night before to ensure they would be open the next day and the lady who answered the phone was friendly, polite, cheerful and helpful. We purposely chose a trip to Atlanta on Monday to try their vegan buffet and were certainly glad we did. The meatless balls had a wonderful texture, I wish I could get mine to stay together so well, and the sauce they were in, I put it on my veggies I loved it so much. The broccoli with sweet potato bites is a combo I never would have thought of and was just delightful. There was both white and brown rice for the meatless balls and sauce. The mac and cheese was good and the lentil soup had just a kick to it, very good as well. One of us ordered the Smokie Sub sandwich. Nice size and was delighted to have black olives on it, too. I saw someone order a burger, it looked very large as well. So between the buffet and the sandwiches, we felt the portions were nice sized and the prices were in line for the area and certainly a ‘bargain’ among vegan restaurants. Not fancy but it fits in with the hippy, eclectic neighborhood and has a fun atmosphere to it. The owner was so kind and ensured we were enjoying our meal. Adults and teens were all pleased by the dishes. Can’t wait to go back.

I headed to Govinda for a casual meal with some friends and the food was done right. While the dining area is a no frills type of place, the emphasis is put on the food — which in my opinion is what really matters. I ordered the Chit Sub — which is a whole wheat sub bun with vegan chicken and peppers. It was amazing! I also order the Veda Fries which are fries dipped in chickpea batter and fried. It is their version of pakoras or bajia(common indian appetizer). They were equally delicious. My friend ordered the Gari Wrap which we were told was the most popular item on the menu, and she really enjoyed it. I will be trying that next time. We shared the raspberry mousse chocolate cake which was to one of the most delicious cakes I’ve ever had. It was moist and I couldn’t believe it was vegan! We commented that with food this good, why would anyone need to eat animals. The service was excellent — very friendly and welcoming. I loved that they don’t over salt their food and try to keep things natural. Go Vinda is a great addition to Atlanta and I can’t wait to go back.

Govinda Jaya Jaya Gopala Jaya Jaya Radha-Ramana Hari Govinda Jaya Jaya Every time I see the name of this place I get that Kula Shaker song in my head. Anyway… Finally! L5P gets what it needs– a veg restaurant! Why did it take so dang long? This place is pretty solid. Simple food, nice vegan desserts,(great place to grab a cupcake or something on the run) clean restaurant, and high chairs for the baby. I will be back again for the buffet.

Overall I really enjoyed my lunch visit to govinda’s café. When I first read about the concept of vegan and vegetarian Indian food, I got excited. My husband and I went on a Tuesday for the lunch buffet and used a scoutmob. We looked at the menu online before going and saw that you had your choice of lunch buffet or a choice of various sandwiches and burritos from the regular menu. We knew we wanted to try the buffet because that sounded pretty good. When we got there it seemed like a pretty casual typical Little five points type of restaurant. It was bright and inviting but simple with a little edge of grunge to it. We were greeted by friendly waitstaff who told us to come up and order at the counter. Meanwhile someone was unloading freshly made cupcakes in the bakery case which all looked really good. Turns out they were vegan cupcakes. The buffet was reasonably priced at 8.99 and included a couple of solid items. Aloo gobi, veggie meatballs which seemed like they were made from beets and carrots in a tomato sauce, vegetable pakora, Chana masala, and white rice. There was also some type of tomato soup. There was a sign that clearly said that all the food was cooked with no soy and no salt so it was up to us to add spices and salt ourselves. Which was fine and actually welcomed because typically Indian food can be pretty heavy, but what was sad and missing for me is that there were no chutney, no pickle, no naan nor raita/yogurt of any kind. Anyone who knows Indian food knows that these are pretty normal and expected staples. When I asked about the chutney I was told that the chef didn’t make it that day. So I’m not sure if that means that she/he didn’t just make it that day or in general if chutney is never made for the buffet. However we found out that our expectations were wrong — — it is not meant to be an authentic Indian restaurant. With the name of Govinda I thought that it would actually be a south Indian restaurant. Turns out that their focus is vegetarian and vegan food first and foremost and to do so within many cuisines. Their buffet changes every day and you can look online for the rotating menu. Monday is southern, Tuesday is Indian, Wednesday is Italian, Thursday is American, Friday is Asian and Saturday’s Mexican. I don’t think that they do buffet on Sundays. Once we adjusted our expectations I found that the food was pretty tasty. It was very light and healthy and it felt good that we were eating without soy and everything was vegetarian or vegan. It wouldn’t say it was my favorite Indian food but definitely good flavors. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try the cupcakes but they had a lot of flavors and I look forward to trying one eventually. The regular menu seemed very creative with all kinds of sandwiches and burritos. I would definitely try coming back here to try the other cuisines on the other days. If I was craving true and authentic Indian food though I would probably bop down to Niramish restaurant which is an awesome family run place with absolutely delicious Indian food.

Pretty solid four stars. Note that there are two kinds of vegetarian restaurants — 1. The kind that try to use lots of vegetables, beans, and natural foods, and 2. the kind that use things like tofu, tempeh, and soy to make«fake» meat. Govinda’s falls in the 2nd category. I tend to prefer the 1st category, but I did like Govinda’s. I got a tofu wrap with ginger, I expected it to be somewhat spicy but it really wasn’t. A couple others in my parties got various other sandwiches and wraps. We all also shared the different fries. Out of the 3 kinds(Jamacian, Veda, and Brazilian) I’d say the Veda were my favorite. All were well-spiced and hot(which is most of what matters). Everyone I went with agreed that the quality of vegetables and ingredients was great. Everything was fresh, and seemly freshly cooked. They were also flexible when it came to options(e.g. multiple choices of wrap you could get your food one). Portions were good, only one person got a sandwich vs. a wrap or burrito, and it was definitely huge! Last note — the bakery items looked amazzzzzing. I did not let myself indulge in the vegan delicacies, but the cakes and pies and cupcakes were an appealing addition for sure.

Mostly vegan place is new to L5P. It’s a no frills dining room. But that doesn’t matter. The food is fantastic. They have a rotating buffet every day, with a different theme each day. Lots of Gluten free, soy free, dairy free and vegan choices. There is regular cheese there for the noms. The wraps are excellent. The Jamaican Fries are very good. The place is just what my vegan daughter needed, and the food was filling and delicious enough that this omnivore didn’t feel in anyway deprived.

There aren’t many places in atl where you can get this whole package: Healthy, fresh gmo free vegetarian vegan subs, wraps and salads Vegan cupcakes, cakes and pies And a whole all you can eat buffet for only 6 dollar p. p! I absolutely loved the chocolate ganache, and go there almost every day to enjoy the buffet. It’s a different selection of vegan dishes every day, and generally consists of at least two healthy steamed veggie dishes and the usual rice or pastas. Always good soup. Hope to see you at govindas soon!

Heard this place had opened and made a trek at lunch from midtown to check it out. They have an all-you-can-eat buffet, but instead of many, many options, there’s a few choice items that form a solid meal. So basically you can get the meal of the day, for as many servings as you want. Today was lentil loaf, black eyed peas and more, it looked really tasty. Instead I got the steak sandwich with vegan cheese. It was super delicious. I got a side of Brazilian fries too(the large is HUGE), the spices were tasty. My friend got the Jamaican fries which were good, but the Brazilian were better. Everyone was super friendly and the food was tasty. Service was a bit slow, but it’s because they’ve just opened and are working on getting their flow. Give ‘em a little extra time, it’s worth it!
