Back when I was working in the night life business, I stumbled upon this purple and yellow food truck in a dark parking lot with a dim light illuminating it from up above. At first glance, I was scared for my life, thinking I might get stabbed over there, but that deep fried smell was calling my name!!! I was tired of eating at all these late night spots like Waffle House or Krystal, so I said fuck it and I took a chance. I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into, I asked the older black gentleman that was taking the orders, «what’s good here?» he replied in the craziest NAW’LINS accent I have ever heard before but all I understood was«PO’BOYS u dummy» I didn’t know if he was fucking with me but I just went along with cuz it was late, I was hungry, and I don’t think Obamacare covers shank attacks in dark alleys. After paying for the order, I chilled there for quite sometime. Actually it took longer then I had anticipated but it was all worth. After my first bite I was hooked!!! If shrimp po’boys where a drug, I would be it’s next victim… those po’boys where so delicious. I ordered 2 more just to take home! With food still in my mouth and that po’boy sauce all over my face I asked the chef if he would be back next week to sell me some mo po’boys, he looked at me and nodded his head yes… Since that I night, 5 years ago, I’ve been searching long and hard for a shrimp po’boy that would be as good or better then the one I had that night. Many have tried but all have failed. Finally, I decide to be a Fatboy again and I went to their restaurant location and this is what I have to say. Location is bad, it’s attached to a high traffic gas station crawling with crackheads and hobos asking for spare change. Parking is a bitch. Only 2 people were working, a cashier and a cook, super nice people but it took awhile to order and to get our food. AC either wasn’t working or they were being cheap. No refills, they sale soda in a can. Get a damn fountain machine!!! Coke gives you the fountain machine as long as you sale their soda! Last but not least, the shrimp po’boy… it was love at first bite all over again. The bread was a little burnt, the menu was a little pricey, took a long time to make it but it’s was okay, I still forgave them. Maybe because I’ve been putting them up on a pedestal, or maybe because they remind me of the good olé days when I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain a single pound. But whatever it was, I didn’t care cuz to me this will forever be the best shrimp po’boy in town!!!

My wife and I just tried this place and I have to say I am not much of a review writer but I am performing a public service by sharing this review. I ordered the muffuletta with a side of red beans & rice, my wife ordered the gumbo… The muffuletta was quite possibly the worst I have ever ingested. The muffuletta at Jason’s Deli has more authentic flavor. The red beans and rice as well as the gumbo were bland and lacked any spice or flavor. The service was horrible as well. As an expatriate of Louisiana, these people should be truly ashamed to serve this food. We obviously will never darken their doorstep ever again, but I had to post a review in an effort to hopefully save someone the trouble of trying this place.

They have really good food, used to look forward to going there. However I’ve gotten sick 3 times after eating there. The first time it happened I thought maybe it had been something else that I had ate. Went back again to grab a bite for dinner about a month later and woke up the next morning throwing up like crazy. Then after holding off for a minute I went back last night and woke up this morning with the runs. I was already somewhat heated for dropping 13 bucks for a baby piece of fish on the po boy and 3 spoonfuls of rice in a container. The bread was the only good thing about the sandwich. As I was eating it last night the small bit of fish that was in there fell out and I got a chance to look at it. It looked funny in the light(literally) and I kept eating against my better judgment. I’m paying for that oversight this morning as I type this. Place is a joke. Good food but they’re getting over big time. This isn’t even close to what those Vietnamese spots do. I’ll just drive up to Buford Hwy next time I want a po boy. I ordered the tilapia po boy and the fish was one of those cheap cuts you get out the bulk bag from Kroger. Way too much money for that garbage. And then to possibly eat some bad seafood and get sick on top of it? No thanks. I won’t be back.

Great, authentic food. You actually pay for the amazing food not the ambiance… how it should be. My guy ordered the catfish po boy and was in heaven it was like a foot long with four pieces of catfish in it for around $ 10 I was amazed at the price. I ordered the catfish basket that came w a side and coleslaw. Mmmm FYI I’m creole and a chef so I’m not easily impressed with most places. The woman that assisted is was so nice her name was YoYo her great customer service insured we would come back. Thank goodness for scout mob or we never would have known about this place. FYI I was a sign for lunch it was ½ a po boy for around $ 5 good deal as I can’t eat a whole one. We can’t wait to go back there again.

Brought my daughter in for a real shrimp PoBoy. The bread and the remoulade make the sandwich. It’s dressed perfectly(I ask for extra sauce) and the shrimp are fried just right. A friend from New Orleans swears by these PoBoys, so we went and I have been going back almost weekly. My 12 year old daughter was INTO her PoBoy as she’s never had one proper. We split a shrimp and a catfish and they were both great as always. This place makes me happy. No need to nitpick. I’m here for the shrimp PoBoy and it’s really good!

I used the scout mob and got a hell of a deal. The shrimp po boy was on point, the fresh bread and tender shrimp was good to go. If the fries where fresh and hand cut the meal would have been crazy.

Honestly felt like a portal to New Orleans. We live in the neighborhood and finally decided to eat here after a trip to The Big Easy. The po boys are just as good as you’d find there and we agreed the hush puppies were even better. I’m definitely hitting up the food truck next time.

Save ur money. This place is not even worth the scoutmob discount. Bland side items. They got the bread from Nola but I don’t think Nola would be to fond of this place bring called cajun cuisine. The Asian seafood places got this place beat hands down, sad but true.

The alligator was absolutely delicious — best I’ve ever had. A little greasy, so if that turns you off, you won’t love it. The fries were kinda soggy, but were well seasoned and when I dipped them in the gator sauce, they were good. Hushpuppies were nice and crisp, although they didn’t give many, even with a side order. Main downside was that the staff weren’t very friendly, and that is really off putting to me. The décor made a valiant attempt on what was likely a low budget. Would I return? For the food, maybe, but would definitely carry out and would need to be in a good mood to dismiss the poor attitudes.

Food was great. Got a gator Po Boy and a side of Jambalaya which had just the right amount of spiceness I only give a 3 star bc I had to wait close to 30min for the order to come out when the place was not extremely busy. Improve order turnaround and this would be a 5 star spot.

I really wanted to like this place. I really really wanted to! But at the end of the day, even with a Scoutmob coupon, I ended up paying $ 10 for a bottled water and some Zapps chips. I had ordered a muffaletta and a snow cone. The muffaletta bread was huge with a couple slices of meat and a sprinkling of marinated olives and veggies.(Without a coupon, this was $ 12). But the bottom was so greasy, not even a stack of napkins could help it. I threw it out. The nice helper at the counter tried there times to make me a snow cone. After 45 mins we just left without it. I had a conversation with the cook who informed me that there are many different types of muffalettas. I have never seen one like this.

They came to my work for a special event. Tried the sausage po’ boy and shrimp po’boy and they were both awesome. The Sausage Po’ Boy is worth its weight in gold.

What happened? Used to love their oyster poboys but ordered one today through zifty and it was terrible. Oysters were undercooked and the bread has changed. Side of red beans and rice was tasteless and bland. They didn’t have the bread pudding either so I was substituted some mediocre beignets instead. Seriously disappointed. Hope they can get back to the old standard.

The food truck came to my job today for Food Truck Tuesdays. We have a different truck come weekly. This is by far my favorite. I ordered the shrimp po boy and beignets. The shrimp was soooooo good, and the beignets were the best. I freaking love this truck. My meal came to $ 11, and only waited less than a minute for my food. I hope they come back next week. Stopped by the actual restaurant today to show my brother how good their po boy’s are. Customers were mad at how long their order took. 2 customers asked for their money back. Claiming they had been waiting 40mins. I can imagine I would be upset too if I was on lunch. Still great food though, just took forever to get it. Restaurant aspect def needs more attention.

Found this place by accident and enjoy it once in awhile especially when it’s hot outside because they have snow balls. The snow balls are light and powdery there are about 48 flavors to choose from good luck trying just one. Just Loaf’n stays busy with all of the take out orders with things like po boys, muffelatta’s roast beef sandwiches they will even make ½ &½’s. Wings, fish combos, fried turkey legs, gumbo it comes in thee different sizes for $ 3.- $ 10.95 yes it is homemade and plenty of sides to choose from. Zapp’s is the the chip of choice here there is even a food truck and for those of you who are into football what could be a fun road trip to NOLA for the game in September is being planned.
