Krystal

My friends and I ride our bikes here a lot. Every time we go something gets worse. We almost always order milkshakes, and the workers are too lazy to fill them up all the way, and the few times they bother to put whipped cream on out milkshakes, which is actually delicious, they may put like one teaspoon. The chicks are much to small with thw amoubt of bread overwhelming the tiny peice of chicken on there. My friends once got the wrong meal, and instead of doing anything about it the workers continued to say that what he ordered. Im so sad to see the service and food get worse everytime. Though it is good for a few things, and you can get a meal out of it, somethings need to change.

Krystal is the South’s version of White Castle. I feel the need to break Krystal’s down in this review, because I’m torn about whether I truly like them or not. So, here it goes.
Drive-​Thru: ¹⁄₅
Quite possibly one of the worst drive thru’s in Atlanta. On many occasions I have sat there for 5 minutes waiting for someone to say something. Yelling «hello» doesn’t get them to move any faster. Frequently, your order will be wrong. Even after repeating it once, and reviewing it twice.
Dine-​In: ⁵⁄₅
Quite the contrast to Drive-​Thru, Dine-​In is actually a pleasant experience. It’s like walking into an alternate universe. Where the same exact employees running the Drive-​Thru are much more friendlier, more competent, and seem to work faster when you’re standing right there in front of them. Weird. Plus, Krystal has that cool 50’s diner vibe. Which I always like.
Food: ³⁄₅
First off, Krystals are gross. Period. But I don’t come here for their teeny tiny patty slices that they try and pass off as «burgers». Those are pretty much just bread, and will most likely be a soggy mess. No, I come for the Krystal Chics. Which are 10 times better than the «burgers». And I also like their breakfast scramblers. Other than that, most of the menu is underwhelming. But those 2 particular items are very good.
Price: ²⁄₅
Whoever thought a mini sandwich should be more than a dollar is either mentally challenged or a genius. I would be fine with either of those two conclusions. Back in the day, adding cheese to a sackful would nearly double it’s price. I noticed today they have sort of fixed that though, adding $ 2 to a sackful of 12 and $ 4 to a sackful of 24 when you get them with cheese. Nowadays, the menu has also become very complex. With «pick 3 of these» «mix and match 5» «make it a combo» blah blah blah. There’s also like 20 different ways you can have your Krystal and Krystal Chic now. OK, I’m probably nitpicking. But I think «simple» is better when it comes to «fast» food.

These 4 categories come to an average of 2.75 stars. Being generous, we will round up to 3. So there you have it, today Krystal gets an A-​OK rating.

This is by far the best Krystal in Atlanta. The breakfast (grits, eggs, bacon or sausage, & toast is awesome and you can’t beat the price. Food is always fresh and fast here. This Krystal is always well managed.

Attitude of the drive-​thru woman was amazing. She shouldn’t be working in a customer-​facing job.

Since I can’t get this on the west coast, I had to get my fix. I remember these lovely little bites of heaven when I lived out east and had to grab a handful while I could. 5 for $ 5, how could I go wrong?

This location changes my mind about Krystal. I have been in one since the 1990’s. Gloria and her staff there have the best customer service I have seen in a long time from a fast food place. I will be back!

I’m not much into fast-​sliders but it was next door to where my tires were being installed. While there trying 2 naughty burgers I was approached to sample their Dbl Cheese Chipotle burger (slider). Probably the best thing there. I would most definitely have ordered that if I were a regular. Also the manager was super sweet and welcomed me to their lobby.

OMFG, what is this awesomeness? Did I become royalty to be graced with such a delicacy? I ordered 12 Krystals, which they had bagged and waiting before I even ordered. They must also know that I’m lazy, because they kept them in a steamer so long that they became liquid, so I just drank them out of their little box like a Hi-​C. And they must know that I like to watch my figure, because my body purged them at about 5 a.m. I saw someone who looked suspiciously like Jesus Christ eating inside, I got his autograph, and, sure enough.
Only 5 stars? No way. All of the available pretend internet stars for this place.

Okay, it’s not a trendy b-​fast place with fresh-​squeezed juice or linens but where else can you have 3 eggs cooked to order with hashed-​browns, grits and bacon for 5 bucks? Friggin the best breakfast in a pinch.

This is a quick in and out place to eat. The food is cheap and filling. I typically get the sampler (#14). I get a chick, krystal burger, corn dog and hot dog. Very filling quick, cheap meal.

This is the ultimate drunk food. I cannot recall the last time I consumed Krystals without first having a number of cocktails. Krystals works like magic because it prevents hangovers. Every time I drink a little too much and eat Krystals I don’t have a hang over. If I don’t eat the Krystals I’m sick as a dog the next day. Someone should really do a scientific study to see if there is a correlation between Krystal consumption and hangover avoidance. The Chicks and Burgers are quite tasty but the fries aren’t that good. But who really cares after a long night at the club/​bar?

I was told that Krystal was like White Castles. I am originally from NYC and we have White Castles up there. Yes, the same White Castles made even more famous by the Harold and Kumar movie. I like White Castles, but it no longer tasted or even looked like the ones from my childhood memory. If you go to a White Castles today, you get a soggy sliders. It was a good movie, but they made the burgers look a lot better than they were. I was pleasantly surprised when my Krystal’s slider showed in its firm and fluffy bun. I actually ordered the meal where you can get 4 different items with fries. I got to try the chicken slider, a tiny chili cheese dog and a corn dog. Serving sliders is the only thing that Krystal has in common with White Castle. Krystal’s burgers are better than White Castle’s by far. The chicken sandwich was pretty solid too. The chili cheese dog was mostly chili and very little dog. The corn dog was a little dry. I wonder if they have any syrup dip for the corn dog. I am still impressed by the slider. It was simple meal. Nothing fancy but it really hit the stop.

There is no better late night snack than something off the menu at Krystal. I occasionally stop by this location after leaving the bar and thankfully the service is always good (as good as can be expected, I suppose).
Honestly, I can’t think of a time where the wait was very long or my order was incorrect. I prefer my Krystal Chik «no pickle, add mustard» and they always get it right.
