Okay so I didn’t think I’d be back a day after coming here, so I’m editing this and adding a star. So now this is going to be long. My first impression was a bit like, «this place is weird.» I have to make this annoying trek from GSU’s actual campus to the lovely home of the statistics math lab… the freaking Commons. I walked by once and I was like oh… I’ll have to go there sometime. Finally, the chance comes: screwing up my day meant I did not eat lunch before a noon class, which was just a test, so One Café Blanc it is!(And then I came back for more.) They closed back in May, and reopened at the end of August I believe… from the Thrillist email I got way back when, it looks like they changed the food around a bit, along with the prices. I walked in, totally confused. because behind the counters in the back it just looks empty. I walked over to Yoeshi and that side was really empty. All the crepes over there were more of a dessert item, and I needed lunch. Finally, walking back over to the café side, I found where I order, where I then picked up a giant menu. I don’t think they do burritos anymore, because those were nowhere on here. They had«lounge food,» aptly named because once I was sitting, the music and the overall appearance of the area made it feel somewhat like a lounge. There are burgers, salads, panini, crepes, and yogurt. You can also create your own burger or salad. I decided to get the BLT panini, which comes with any side from fries to fruit to mac and cheese. I thought a fruit salad would be good, so that’s what I picked. The fruit salad was not what I was expecting. I was definitely thinking little cup of cubes of mainly melons and some grapes. If you check the picture, you see how wrong that assumption was. There were lots of big, thin cuts of melons, peach, mango, pineapple, and strawberries. I was pleasantly surprised by that. The sandwich was a bit odd. I didn’t bother to actual read the description because I was like BLT. Bacon, lettuce tomato. There was also cheddar cheese(welcomed by me) and red onion slices(not welcome). I don’t think a BLT translates well as a pressed sandwich because of the lettuce, but it wasn’t bad. It was $ 7.50 for everything, including tax. At first I was like, this is kind of high for the customers they are probably most likely to bring in. I definitely can’t stop here very often for lunch because that’s a lot higher than what I typically spend for the same amount of food, and the quality did not add up to that extra money(except the fruit salad). Then I had a burger and I changed my mind. You can build your own with a choice of half a dozen cheeses, 3 toppings from avocado to a fried egg and all sorts of things in between, any number of sauces, plus a side. This is worth it. WORTHIT. The burger was so good, and I added cheddar cheese, chipotle aioli, jalapenos, avocado, and tomato to it and it was just plain FREAKINAWESOME. It was in no way what I’d expect to get for just $ 7.50. There were a ton of fries too, my favorite kind with sea salt apparent on them, and you could tell they were hand cut. When I finished, the chef came over and talked to me. His name is Jonathan, and he was truly interested to know what I thought. He is SUPER cool, by the way, and it was interesting to learn what he hopes to do with the space. He definitely has a lot of freedoms with it, and he has done some definite cool stuff. His main goal is sort of like fine dining priced for a college student, and I see it, which is why I say this burger, I can’t imagine getting it plus fries for $ 7.50 at most places. Upcoming plans include a $ 153 course, prix fixe dinner on Thursdays with soup/salad, entrees like falafel, tilapia, and chicken, plus crepes or peach cobbler for dessert. He wants to start some sort of deal for GSU students, which most restaurants in the area do have, but considering they have to get creative with something better than 10% off. Also they are in the midst of getting a liquor license, so there will be $ 2 draft beers available. Also he gave me a strawberry cheesecake bar, and although it got squished by my carelessness as I left the statistics lab, but it was nothing 20 minutes in the freezer couldn’t fix. Even though I am still full from the burger, I just ate it and it was good too. There are a number of wrapped desserts to get to go, along with salads and sushi. I really like the place overall, I think the yogurt is $ 2.50 so maybe on another test day that I have to finish with some irritating basic statistics work in a part of campus where I don’t want to be. I’ve read about them having just a one year lease and I hope things work out where they are able to stay open in the long run, because it’s a really cool spot and I hope they do well!

This place is def. an attention grabber with its sleek modern décor and how it offers a unique combination of sushi, yogurt, and burgers. First time i went i ate at One Café blanc, which is the side that offers burgers and burritos. I got a korean bb bowl. Which is like a salad with their pick of meat for the day and a really tasty sauce. It was good and cheap. They also offer build your own burgers. You can pick your type of buns, fillings, sauce, etc. My friend got the jerk burger and hers looked really good too. Second time i went here i decided to get a burger and this time my health conscious mind got the mushroom burger. The patty basically fell apart with every bite i took. by the time i took 3 bites it was no longer a burger but a pile of mush. so i wasn’t happy. However, i gotta say they have amazing tater tots. I also went into Yoe Shi and tried their frozen yogurts. Their sushi didn’t look appealing to me. I gotta say, i was disappointed. I picked vanilla frozen yogurt and it just had a poor vanilla flavor, not the home-made kind of flavor you get at the grocery store. Overall i don’t recommend the yogurt or the mushroom burgers but having been there with friends and sampling their food, this place does offer good choices at a cheap price. Next time i’ll try their other burgers or burritos.

still in a soft opening April 2010, I expect good things for this multi-faceted café. I was drawn in by the promise of yogurt and crepes, omg — am I in Berkeley? the things that are ubiquitous in the Berkeley neighborhood street corners is now available in ATL in our very own GSU neighborhood-yay! the menu promises 4 flavors but the day I went, they only had 2(with an option to swirl. you can choose up to three toppings for $ 1.50 — I think they only had one sized cup. it was smooth and delicious, even if the toppings were spare. the atmosphere in this place is out of this world. ulitarian ductwork is painted shiny gold and globs of pink and purple ozze out the ceiling. a modest opening frames the café next door that is decked out in all white(looks great opening week… how bout after 2 semesters of students trod through there…) and serves up custom burgers or burrittos. now here is a restaurateur who gets it. generation Y wants it their way. and we only eat off buns or tortillas. I’m hoping to check out the burrittos today — will report back. I gave 4 stars because overall, this place is a breathe of fresh air in the otherwise dismal HURT park blocks.
