Delicious chicken and mushroom pie! My only regret is they close early(4:00) and are only open in Mall on weekdays. I sent my family over while I was at conference, and they loved it too. I’d order traditional Chicken pie next time(had sample, and that was very good).

Oh lawds, so good. Panbury’s is inside Sweet Auburn Market as well as Peachtree Center and serves up delicious meat pies. Think a chicken pot pie but upgraded. My favorite one here is the stout pie, which incorporates Guinness beer and beef. It’s like a pot roast in a pie. If you go to their Sweet Auburn location, know that they validate parking. It can get pretty hectic around lunch but is well worth the trip.

Place is great. I’ve been here many times and have tasted wonderful pies. The mash potatoes and gravy is great as well. I don’t think they serve it anymore which sucks because the other sides are just okay. Also, the Jamaican beef patty are a tad bigger than most, but it’s not a real beef patty. It tastes the same as the crust on as all the other pies. Tasty beef patty, not a Jamaican one. Still delicious food.

Today was my first time at the municipal market. As I was strolling through the market I stumbled upon Panbury’s. The mini apple pies caught my eye. As I waited in line, I noticed the variety of pies. I ended up buying the Thai chicken pie, a mini Apple pie and a sausage roll. Everything was delicious! The sausage roll was amazing. I can’t wait for my next visit to the market so that I can try different pies.

It’s my 2nd time been to Sweet Auburn, never name it’s called«Municipal Market» now, last time was 2013. So glad I ran into Adam(the boss), he is so nice and passionate to introduce almost every each of his bakeries to me. I’ve had quite some savoy pies back in Asia, but never here in the states, seems it is not that popular… However, Adam truly brought his own secrete South African recipe to South Empire State. I tried the signature Steak&Stout, it is SOGOOOOOD! The pie crust is so airy as some good quality croissant, the pie is stuffed with tones of tender juicy beef chunks, I’m still so full after finishing one pie, tho it looks not that big, but can def fill up your stomach. It was a pity that Green Thai Curry sold out when I arrived, surely a good reason to visit back and try more flavors! Also, congrats on Panbury’s got in the 2016 Elite100 list — one guide map for the best money value but good quality eateries and shopping stores. Carry on!

I was looking for something new to try for lunch instead of the average burger and fries. This was an amazing choice, located inside of a market with all different foods. The double crust pie is amazing! Really hearty and flavorful and the crust tops it all off. I would recommend listening to the personal worker recommendations because they ask what kinds of things you prefer if it’s your first time. I will be back!

To sum up my feelings about this place, I’d eat Jeff Teague’s sweaty gym shoe if it were wrapped in Panbury’s pastry… It could make anything taste delicious. The longer version is that the filings are savory and flavorful. We sampled the steak and stout, which tastes like the best beef stew you’ve had enrobed in that flaky, melt-in-your-mouth, perfectly golden brown pastry. The pepper steak was also excellent, and the country chicken was creamy and fragrant with tarragon and bright and fresh from lemon. The highlight, though, was not a pie but rather the chicken sausage roll. I have sampled sausage rolls from 3 continents and this is the best I’ve had. I was skeptical of the chicken because I’m used to seeing pork or beef, but these were by far the tastiest. And that pastry… Unfortunately I am no longer an Atlanta local, but I’ll make this place a stop every time I’m visiting family.

Glad I got to try this place. First off, the market that it is in «The Curb Market» is awesome. I was so excited when I walked in because I hadn’t heard of this place and it was full of great, high quality food stalls + fresh produce and meats. The atmosphere was great. I will def come back. Enjoy the spinach and feta pie. Very tasty crust. Will be back to try other kinds. Also, very filling. $ 6.50 for the veggie pies.

Good gravy, this place is amazing. We were out and about on a beautiful Saturday and decided to swing into the Sweet Auburn Market for lunch. We wandered between stalls and happened across Panbury’s. The woman at the counter, who turned out to be one of the owners, offered us a taste of their chicken sausage wrapped in flaky pastry. It was so delicious, we knew right away we wanted a pie lunch. He ordered the pepper steak and I opted for the potato and cheddar. They were both out of this world, but I wish I could have eaten a quarter of four different flavors because everything sounded delicious. On the side, we shared a mashed potato and gravy(yes, it was a lot of potatoes for me in one meal). The mash was tasty but the gravy was some of the best I’ve ever had. They should sell it as a soup. We also ordered a couple of sausage rolls and a Jamaican patty to go so we could snack on them later in the evening. The chicken sausage rolls were still phenomenal heated up in my toaster oven hours later, and the patty was very spicy and flavorful. It would be hard to go back and not order another sausage roll, but there are still so many flavors of pie to try! They had a curry chicken, a traditional chicken pot pie, a beef and veg, a spinach and feta, and many others I cannot remember. All of them have a shortcrust base and a puff pastry-type top, so you end up with a great combination of flaky and buttery as you pick them up and eat them like an enclosed sandwich. Get thee to Sweet Auburn and check out Panbury’s next time you are craving an amazing, rich, and filling lunch. They also validate parking for an hour, so there’s really no excuse not to try this delicious food.

The soft yet crispy crust falls into pieces as you take the first bite. While the flakes of crust playfully tickle your tongue, the flavor of gumbo starts to seep through between the crust. With each bite, the gumbo mixes with the crust creating a heavenly feeling in your mouth that just makes you smile. Yes, I’d say this is about the feeling I got from my first bite of the Cajun Gumbo Double Crust Pie. This place is great! They have a large selection of pies, which I plan on trying all of. The woman working the store was very friendly and helpful. Overall, a great little establishment. I would highly recommend this place, and will definitely be returning to experience the remaining types of pies!

My friend Lindy told me she was having a UYE at the Sweet Auburn Market(specifically here) on a Saturday, when I would be in town. It worked out perfectly– I had time to land, sober up, and make it before I went home to nap. Upon arriving(it had been at least a year since my last visit to the market), I immediately noticed the pie shop had taken over the High Road Ice Cream place. I was kind of bummed. But at least Atlanta has plenty of ice cream places, not enough meat pie shops. I was slightly disoriented, so I just stared at the counters of pies. And stared with a dumbfounded look. I was greeted by a friendly person– I told her I just got off a plane from Denver and was slightly braindead. She gave me a quick rundown. I was surprised when she told me you eat them like burgers. I was sort of skeptical of that. On the menu, it says you should get a pie and a side(mash and gravy or a kale salad). My side was another pie. Checkout was swift. It was time to dig in. Believe it or not, I was excited to say you can really eat them like burgers, and not a single piece of filling fell out. The first pie I had was the steak and stout. That was pretty flavorful. And filling. By the time I got to the Chicken Gumbo, my waistline was slowly expanding. I was excited to try the chicken, but when I bit into it, I was underwhelmed. I really couldn’t capture the cajun flavor. Maybe my tongue was still wrapped on the flavors of the first pie. Anyways, the staff was friendly and the concept was cool. They have their own reserved seating as well. I was glad to have tried it!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Parking for the market is absolutely nuts. I found a parking space on the street right across the 75⁄85 overpass for about $ 4. I ordered the chicken and mushroom pie with the mash and gravy on the side. I only ordered the side b/c I thought the pie wouldn’t be enough, but I was wrong. It’s really filling and more than enough. The mash and gravy I ate b/c I bought it. The pie’s crust had a nice flake, the inside wasn’t just the right temperature to go to town. There was a decent amount of filling inside and had a pretty good flavor. They give u quite a bit of mash and gravy which tasted 100x better than the instant mash I would make at home. $ 7 for a pie is a really good price for something so filling. $ 3 for the mash & gravy isn’t bad either. Overall, this place is pretty solid. Wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again, but it’s a good option if you’re hungry in the area.

«I sure do love chicken pot pie. For dessert you can make me a peach cobbler.» — American Horror Story: Season 3, Episode 3 The perils of writing Unilocal reviews — you walk into an establishment and the owner calls you by name — and you’ve only been in there once and you wrote your review almost a year ago. Not to worry — this was not a bad thing. I will say that most establishments feel a 3-star review is a bad thing. According to Unilocal,3 stars means A-OK. This time around, I’m upgrading to 4-stars, which means Yay! I’m a fan! So true. My experience was much improved over last year — which is great. Panbury’s has been around and worked out any kinks. The young woman who helped me was very nice, had no issue figuring out who was next in line(and even asked if I was next) and was forth-coming about being a vegetarian when I asked which of the chicken pies were better(I was torn between the two). She(sorry no idea of her name) said the owner loves the Chicken and Mushroom — so that was my selection. I also opted for Mashed Potatoes and Gravy(and extra $ 3) and a large Pork sausage roll(so I could share with my friends. This is when I walked to the register/iPad. I was greeted by name by the owner, Lauren. She is as nice as can be — the bee’s knees. I appreciate when owners are super involved in the business and truly care about the product they put out and customer reaction — I also appreciate owners who actually care about reviews written and reach out to address them — Lauren did just this last year. That is when I learned that the pies were meant to be eaten with your hands!!! A fact that was not pointed out this time, but she was sure to tell everyone in our group this time around — all 16 of us. I warned her that I brought quite the crowd. The mash was again, stellar. I don’t know what madness they put in the gravy(I still say there is some kind of alcohol(stout?), but damn it is FINE. They give a hefty serving and I can never finish it all. I’d love to go for the kale salad, but alas… tree nuts. It looks and smells awesome. As for the pie — this was a definite improvement over last year. It was hot, but not so hot that I burnt my mouth. I picked it up with my hands like an empanada or hamburger(as advised) and saved my fork for the mash. Damn this was one fab pie! so packed full of flavor and umph — I’d eat it again. And again. And as before, the pork sausage roll was a winner — and my friends agreed. When I went back for parking validation(I always forget when my belly is grumbling), Lauren asked how everything was this time and I explained it was excellent and an improved experience from last time. I can for sure say I will be back again and eat more pies(That spinach and feta was calling me name…). Plus… blueberry turnovers!!! Thanks, Lauren, for hosting my crew today — we ate like kings.

Great location and plenty of seating for their customers! I tried the spinach and feta pie which was delicious! Reminded me of pies I had in South Africa, many moons ago! I would have like the pie to be a little warmer but overall it was delicious! Hope to visit again soon!

It’s a pie with meat. How that’s a great pie. Are they made with human bits? Probably not. They do come with either chicken or beef. For you vegetarians, they do have vegetarian pies as well. I’ve had a few meat pies in the Atlanta area. Panbury’s seems like the best to me. They look small but are filling. You don’t need a knife and fork to eat these. The nice lady at the counter told us to eat it like a hamburger – with your hands. It feels like a quarter pounder. I tried 2 pies: the Chicken and Mushroom Pie and their Steak and Stout Pie. I also tried their Mash and Gravy as my side. The Chicken and Mushroom was delicious. I loved the puff pastry. It was nice, flakey, and buttery. The chicken had great, comforting flavor. I think I liked this better than the Steak and Stout Pie. The Steak and Stout Pie wasn’t bad either. The filling was bursting with flavor. You can really taste the herbs. It had a strong thyme and pepper flavor. I liked it. But I think I preferred the subtler flavor of the Chicken and Mushroom, the Steak and Stout pie is still a great pie. Their Mash and Gravy tasted good too. They give it to you in a big container. The container is about the size of the pies. So you can probably share it with someone. It also had strong flavor of herbs and spices. It was pretty creamy as well. You can take them home too if you want. They don’t require too much to heat up. Just order a bunch and have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Panbury’s Double Crust Pies is a meat pie shop that opened inside the Sweet Auburn Curb Market in April 2014. The shop was inspired by co-owners Adam and Lauren’s South African roots, where these types of pies are the norm. In Atlanta, this concept is more unique. While there are several restaurants in the metro area that serve meat pies(Australian Bakery Café in Marietta comes to mind), I think Panbury’s is the first to specialize and serve them in the city. The shop has one of the more elaborate and attractive storefronts inside the Curb Market. The space looks modern, clean, and inviting. The shop has its own seating area with four small tables in addition to some counter seating which faces a window into the kitchen. The ordering counter has two shiny, well lit, glass display cases containing the latest day’s batches of pies, rolls, and foldovers. Behind the counter is a fancy Turbofan oven where you can often see(and smell) new pies being baked. About eight different kinds of savory pies are offered. «Savory» meaning these aren’t traditional sweet dessert pies(though they sell those too). For anywhere from $ 6 – 8, you can get a warm and scrumptious pie. One pie is good enough to fill you up. As Lauren might tell you, the best way to eat one of these pies is with your hands. «Instructions» are also printed on the menu. Peel back the foil and take a bite, much like you would with a hamburger. The fork and knife approach is much more difficult. While meat pies have been around for centuries in Europe, Australia, and South Africa, Adam and Lauren have added some interesting recipe variations to their menu. Examples include a Southern Breakfast Pie with eggs, chicken sausage, and maple syrup, a Cajun Chicken Gumbo Pie with chicken, andouille sausage, and Cajun spices, and a Cracked-Black-Pepper Steak Pie made with slow-braised beef shoulder and gravy. I’ve tried a few pies so far and have really enjoyed them. They include: Steak & Stout Pie Chicken & Mushroom Pie Green Thai Chicken Curry Pie The Steak & Stout Pie is like a classic British pie. It’s made with beef, onions, cremini mushrooms, rosemary, thyme, and Guinness beer. It’s a hearty, wholesome pie, the kind that«sticks to your ribs.» Flavorful and satisfying. The comforting Chicken & Mushroom Pie is my favorite so far. It’s made with chicken, cremini mushrooms, white pepper, herbs, and a cream sauce. It’s kind of like a cream of chicken and mushroom soup, but in pie form. I want another one just thinking about it. The Green Thai Chicken Curry Pie is surprisingly good. I’m sometimes skeptical of Thai twists to Western food, but Panbury’s pulls off the Thai flavors rather authentically. This pie is made with chicken, mushrooms, cilantro, lime, green onion, chilis, and coconut cream. It tastes just like Thai green curry. The chilis used are actual Thai bird’s eye chilis, so this pie is spicy. A common feature of all the pies I’ve tried here is the delectable, flaky, and buttery pastry crust. They’ve seemed to have perfected it. In my opinion, the best parts of the crust are the harder, outer edges that have been cooked against the foil. Delicious. In addition to Panbury’s pies, I’ve tried their sides: mashed potatoes and beef gravy and kale salad with cranberries, almonds, Parmesan cheese, and lemon vinaigrette. The sides are OK. The meat pies are where it’s at. Other foods offered include mini pies, chicken sausage and pork sausage rolls, and sweet pies and foldovers including apple, blueberry, and peach. Until the business expands(which is in the works), you will most likely encounter Adam and/or Lauren during your visit. They are both very nice and friendly. Excellent service! If entering the Curb Market from the parking lot, walk straight to the back and Panbury’s will be just to your right. The business validates parking for up to one hour. Finally, Panbury’s pies are also great for taking back home or to the office.

Oh my goodness. Why hasn’t someone opened a place like this sooner? For $ 6, you get your choice of meatpie(fairly standard offerings, with some exotics like curry or cajun) and for $ 2 more, a kale salad or a heap of spuds and gravy. I’d definitely recommend getting the steak and stout. It’s so freaking good. And that’s only after you’ve bitten off some of the flaky wonderful goodness surrounding it. Is this super legit and straight from the UK(or South Africa, where the kind ladies hail from), maybe, maybe not. But it’s still good food, authenticity aside.

This pie shop opened up 2 months ago at Sweet Auburn Curb Market, and I had heard great reviews so I decided to branch out from my usual arepa. Since I love all things curry, the Green Thai Chicken pie was calling out to me. It is $ 6 for a pie, which is about three times the size of a hot pocket. The crust is flaky on the outside but very soft in the inside, like a glorious puff pastry. The green curry chicken filling was SODELICIOUS that I wish the meal would never end. Highly highly recommend the Green Thai chicken pie. My friend also tried the Cajun gumbo one and liked it a lot. They also have mashed potatoes and gravy as a side, and also a kale salad with cranberries, parm cheese and a vinaigrette. Now I know there is a reliable place for me to grab something to eat inside the Municipal market.

Man, I so wanted to love this place. I grew up eating sausage rolls with my Welsh next door neighbor and spent a semester abroad in the UK eating meat pies, so I was seriously pumped to see a concept with one of my favorite nostalgic foods opening up in the Sweet Auburn Market. Couple that with the initial outstanding Unilocal reviews and the Market’s close proximity to my office, and I was sure I had a new lunch favorite. Oh, and did I mention the adorable branding? It’s so cute! However, after one visit, I’ll give them another shot, but sure hope that they improve. With the cashier’s recommendation, I selected the steak and stout pie, and got a kale salad as my side. This came to just over $ 10 with no drink, which is pricey for a Market lunch. The kale salad was basic, but very good. The pie unfortunately was a solid«meh.» The pies are kept in a bakery case that must be kept slightly warm, so the pies are above room temperature, but are not hot. I think I would have enjoyed my pie a lot more if the crust was crisped up with a quick run through a convection oven and the filling was a little bubbly. The pie itself was rather bland. While the stout(beer) flavor was strong, both filling and crust seemed to need salt. And the crust was not great — more doughy and not flaky or buttery like I remember from the U.K.(it actually tasted like a shortening crust to me). All in all, it just did not live up to the flavors in my memories, but I will give them a second shot.

When I think of meat pies. I think about London meat pies or chicken pot pie. I accidentally walked across this place inside the sweet auburn market right next the le metro creperie during my lunch break. They have about four types of pies vegetable, chicken, beef and desert. The pies sizes small for 2.50 and large pies 6 dollars.. Sides consist Mash and gravy, kale salad and potato salad. Prices on sides range 2– 3.50. My first visit I had the Steak and stout pie and mash and gravy. The steak was the meat was cooked with Guinness and had a few mushrooms. The pie crust was really flaky. The mash and gravy was really good. Red potatoes and dark gravy was used. The last visit I had the pepper steak pie and kale salad. Pepper steak was solid. The kale salad was amazing it consists almonds, cranberries and I believe goat cheese(I could be wrong on the cheese.) The dressing used. I don’t know but it was very sweet almost like raspberry vinaigrette. Other interesting pies that caught my eye were the Cajun gumbo and Thai curry. Service is great. Lauren(owner) will give you a quick info on there pies what it contain and etc. And importantly check out was fast. They accept both cash and credit cards. Over all great pie spot and a great addition inside the Sweet auburn market.
