If I could give this place negative stars I would. I came here when they first opened and they have gone down hill over time. The bison burger is smaller then it used to be and the atmosphere sucks. We had the misfortune of meeting the owner and he was rude to some of our guests. Sitting at the bar we had roaches on one of the girls shoes and another on the bar near our food. The bar girl was nice and said they had just sprayed which I highly doubt. Living in the town Brookhaven community this is the third and final strike, old blind dog is a much better establishment. Spend your money elsewhere!

Not sure why there are bad reviews for this place… service and food was spectacular. An off night maybe … would totally recommend giving it another try since we had a 5 star experience. Our server’s name was Mark and boy was he great. Attention to detail was on point and gave us wonderful recommendations. I would definitely suggest asking for him, he’ll steer you in the right direction. He works from Wednesday-Friday. We had the crawfish étouffée and the pan seared duck. You wont go wrong with either of these, full of flavor and cook to perfection. The crawfish was over a bed of baked grits, very different from the typical rice you are usually served with an étouffée dish. the grits had a nice toast to them. The seared duck was cooked at the perfect temperature kudos to the chef that evening. Duck was over a bed of veggies, mushrooms, carrots, brussel sprouts, etc. Can’t wait to come back and try other dishes such as the reuben sandwich suggested by Mark. The owner Bill even came by to ask how things were, talk about customer service! Good go to place to dine in brookhaven.

Located across the street from marshall and Costco. Reasonable price and good quality of food. Highly recommend pork belly, duck and shortrib. The portion is large.

Smaller place in the area. You may overlook it because it is on the side street. However, nice pub with great service. Be sure to try the fried Avacado… It was super yummy!

Decent beer selections and enough items on the menu for everyone to find something. Calamari was good(an item that can swing from awesome to horrid very easily), burger was okay, and the garlic sauce with the fries was crack. I was still tasting the garlic the next day, so be ready with some Certs. Service was good, but the bartender could of helped out our waitress a little more. Stood there leaning while members of our table kept showing up waiting for the waitress to return. They were dead at the time too. She kept it together though, but when he walked by the table(presumably to take new people’s drink order), he just kept walking – but took time to say«hi.» Odd. Hope she doesn’t tip him out much.

Definitely wasn’t impressed, unfortunately I had higher expectations. The bison burger was bland and there was hardly any poblano on it… like three tiny slices. Needs some salt for sure, but as others have mentioned there aren’t any condiments on the tables. Generally you expect the food to be really good at places that leave condiments off the table because they have confidence in their chefs abilities. Not so much but the Rosemary fries were fantastic! Yes, you’ll smell like garlic the rest of the day but I don’t mind. Beer came in a bottle and I wasn’t offered a glass, not that big of a deal, but it took about 15 – 20 mins to arrive at the table and there’s hardly anyone here. I think the worst part was that there was no toilet paper in the stall I used in the women’s bathroom. Again, no one is here, side work should be done. Overall I think I’m just disappointed because I’ve heard pretty good things about this place and I’ve been wanting to come for a long time. I will definitely come back to try out the dinner menu because it looks amazing and they might be more fully staffed. Totally willing to update this review after giving it another try.

Terrible service, half the staff was too hungover to function and were lazy. Weird menu as well. I do not recommend any one to go to «there».

Don’t go(T)HERE! I rarely review — it has to be exceptionally wonderful or extremely bad in order to prompt me to review. Simply put, the service and management here is a joke. The food was good(although our orders were totally wrong and salad portions were small and thrown together carelessly). Waited for 40 minutes, server came to check on our waters and WEHADTOASK when our appetizers and food were coming… he gave us a confused look and said«ill check». Brought them out after 10 additional minutes with minimal explanation and zero accountability or apology. There«computer was messed up and the chefs didn’t see the order…» I suppose the computer could have been messed up, but even so, don’t you have a BRAIN and common sense??? Would be more understandable on a busy night, but we came at 3pm on a Thursday and were the ONLY customers(aside from one lady at the bar). All the staff and cooks were standing around talking the entire time we were waiting for our food. I’ll never give them by business again based on the principal and how they handled the situation. Manager was there and wouldn’t even face us! They couldn’t have cared less that they wasted our time and that’s a place that will never get my business.

The food is good most of the time. They lack consistency with preparation but ingredients are top notch. Service leaves a lot to wish for. Tonight was horrible. They forgot to bring my food. When i was about ¾ done with my beer the bartender asked if I wanted another. I replied yes and he took my pint glass and simply topped it off. They apologized for the wait and service and then offered me a free beer on my next visit. …needless to say I won’t be taking advantage of my free beer because I won’t be going back.

Gloomy day perfect for a Bloody Mary. Definitely worth it! Lucked out with a three piece jazz playing too. No longer a gloomy day.

So who else is getting tired of the chatter about«Burgers» … We have passed ‘There’ in Town Brookhaven several times in the past and note its longevity in this competitive area. They must be doing something right,(or else the bar area is popular.) Maybe we expected too much from ‘There’ but from the visit we had, we can only give it three Unilocal stars. People talk about the quality of There’s «burgers» but with so many ‘burger’ joints around we decided to go off the burger path and give some of There’s other specialties a try. We started off with the fried pickles which came recommended but were way too oily and somewhat lackluster imho. The dip served with the pickles appetizer was awesome however. Next up was the crab cake sandwich with«poblano slaw» … there was not much«poblano» in the«slaw» and thats fine because I was much more interested in the crab cake. It was a bit better than some other recent crab cakes I have tried but that shouldn’t count since those were store bought. The bun was excellent. I got onion rings on the side … and … you … only … get … three. So «sides» are kind of on the small side. The other entrée at the table was their Reuben sandwich. Not bad. Worth a try if you’re tired of the burger merry-go-round. We chose the much-Yelped-about«rosemary fries.» Those«fries» are not the crispy type of fries you may expect, they are sort of doughy and greasy.(Don’t see what all of you people are raving about regarding those fries … make There was having an off day?) There was having a slow but steady crowd on the hot summer Saturday afternoon we ventured inside. The interior is smaller than you might guess and I’m guessing it could get quite loud and raucous inside with the exposed ceiling and concrete floor. Servers seemed short staffed on the day we tried ‘There’ with one person handling the outside and inside crowd as well. Another server showed up as our time there went on but it did take awhile to get the check to pay. Its ok, but I don’t think we would go out of our way to go ‘There’ anytime soon.

I love finding hidden jewels! We are traveling across country to find the hidden gems. A buddy of ours who lives in Buckhead mentioned«there» he said the guy who owns it is awesome and he knows we would love it! So we had to go… From the moment I walked in, I knew we were in the right place. Great vino and the local brew selection were on point. I love the fact it is understated. For example; you can tell the chefs are professionally trained & the food is locally sourced… most restaurants would have been vomiting all over themselves with marketing it… no no don’t worry this place just tells you when you belly up to the bar and speak to the owner. I’m in love with what they did! Bravo chefs keep up the good fight :) We started with house made pickles & pork belly. Followed by an incredible house made sausage and sunchoke risotto(to die for), Seared duck with local veg and Demi glaze. Mmmm it was all very yummy

(Insert obligatory«Yeah, I went There» pun.) Ok, so I sat on this review for a while because I wasn’t quite sure what to make of my experience at first. For starters, our waiter seemed like he was in a very pissed off mood. While he said the right things, he had a borderline aggressive tone and bad body language from the very beginning. Our appetizer, some kind of braised pork was spectacular as were our cocktails. My burger… I’m not exactly sure that I got what I ordered. It wasn’t what was described on the menu. It wasn’t anything more than average anyway. The garlic rosemary fries were a huge disappointment. It’s like they spooned out some of that cheap jarred pickled garlic that you get at the grocery store onto the fries. Not impressed. My wife had the chicken fried chicken served with white gravy, a potato pancake, and green beans. She wasn’t particularly impressed with her entrée either. Maybe they were simply having an off night? I don’t know…

I am an even bigger fan of There now that I’m in TB all the time. Why? Super NPWH. Get to know Bill and Niehls and their staff(hi, Jack!) — they’ll ask your name after your first or second visit and remember it and you from there. The food really is great– not everyone may think of There as an eating spot, vs just a drinking one, but should. Now that I’ve been many times, I know that you should get their fries and the absolutely delicious guac. On the chunky side, just like I like it. They do have a solid burger and such but also frequent specials(think a chicken pasta with portabellos, or duck gumbo). And FYI, those bar nuts are reallly spicy. And it’s small, but their patio is a perfect place to eat or drink in nice weather, day or night — and you can probably bring your dog(even though a sign says«no»). Now one of my fave spots in the neighborhood.

Love the name of the restaurant and the location, but not so much the food unfortunately… It’s located in the Town Brookhaven complex on Peachtree, next to Oglethorpe University. There’s plenty of parking around and in the parking deck. We happen to stumble on this place by accident and decided to stay and eat. It had a nice pub vibe to it and felt pretty chilled. They had a pretty big bar area with plenty of bar seating. No line or rush so we got seated right away at a booth. The menu is fairly small and not overwhelming to look at. I ordered our server’s recommendation of the Bison Patty Burger that comes with roasted pablano, cheddar, avocado, red onions, and spicy mayo with a choice of a side. I decided get the brussel sprouts with my meal. I was really excited about the burger because our server said it was really good and a crowd favorite. But I guess I had to wait 30 minutes only be slightly disappointed… I took a bite out of the burger only to find out that it was cooked medium rare — emphasis on rare. Definitely not the medium I ordered so it threw me off, and it wasn’t that good… I didn’t think there was anything special to the burger. I wasn’t going to get it recooked but the server insisted that I should get it cooked how I wanted to. So we sent the burger back. It came back out a few minutes later and… it was still very much medium rare… Huge bummer. I was very disappointed. I was also very surprised that it took 30 minutes for the food to come out. The place wasn’t busy at all so it makes me wonder why it took so long and how the kitchen would do if there was a bigger crowd. On the upside, the brussel sprouts were good. Overall, not a huge fan. Service was good. Nothing over the top but she was nice. I also think their menu is priced a little too high. There’s also a price discrepancy: as of now, the bison burger is priced $ 12 on their online menu and $ 14 on their dine-in restaurant menu. There’s actually a couple more. I guess they did a price increase and haven’t updated their website yet. I’d give this place a 2.5. Not too sure if I’d come visit it again, but they did have a pretty cool looking bar. So maybe I’ll just come for a drink next time.

One of my favorite places. I like the There burger and garlic fries. The burger is always a consistent choice and the fries are great with ranch. I do feel my cholesterol popping up while I am there though. The atmosphere is sometimes very calm, but I have been when they have a band on a weeknight. I would not recommend going then if you want to talk to anyone you go with. Their indoor dining is very small to begin with, so having a band and any number of patrons makes it loud and crowded. I prefer the patio on a nice day without someone right on top of me, and I get to talk to whoever I go with.

«There» is more of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant. They change the menu quite often, and the food is good. We have been many times, and the most recent time we went for brunch. We got there at 12:20– right before they could start serving alcohol, so we were able to get a seat at the bar quite easily. The Bloody Marys were tasty– they each come with a full strip of bacon. The unique thing is they have a 3 piece jazz band on Sunday for brunch which adds a nice touch. BY1:30 there was a line to get in and all the tables were full. Bill the owner is always such a nice guy, he was working the bar, and when I could not drink my second Virgin Mary he gave my husband a free shot of vodka to go with it. This is not a gluten free friendly place; they dont have any indication of items that are gluten free… in case anyone out there is wondering!

Best burger in Atlanta? Shame on you, Steak Shapiro, you should know better! I’m a sucker for late night TV. With insomnia there isn’t much to choose from between home shopping networks and bootleg Viagra advertisements so when I saw Atlanta Eats on, I decided to watch. There is known for their double bison burger but judging by the reviews, I couldn’t handle the grease. It’s bad enough I can’t handle red meat yet often crave it. I ordered the There burger without the hot pepper slice and a side of rosemary garlic fries. Warning: do not eat the garlic fries unless you want to reek of garlic all day. I actually had to change clothes! The burger is decent. I liked the cooked onions that were stewed on the top. They didn’t have as much flavor as I was hoping for, no crunch, no spice, they were just there to make the burger sloppy. The meat was cooked perfectly and a decent size patty. I liked the toasted bun, that was a nice touch. The garlic rosemary fries were a let down. «Raw, minced garlic fries» is what they should be renamed. No rosemary flavor at all. The fries were perfectly crispy yet the juice from the minced garlic saturated the bottom of the plate, overpowering the fries. I ate at the bar and noticed a few people moving away! Like I said, I had to change my clothes! I like the location, the outside patio and the bottomless mimosa option-if only I wasn’t driving! I’ll give There another shot only I’ll try something other than the burger and fries.

(a much longer review also posted on my food blog) «There» is a self-proclaimed gastropub located at 305 Brookhaven Ave Ste 1200 in Brookhaven, right across from the Costco. The building is brownstone-brick and the first thing you’ll see is a green awning with tables for the exterior seating. I parked at the edge of the Costco parking lot and crossed Brookhaven Ave and walked in — basically it was love at first sight. The movement towards the gastropub in the US, I think coincided with the expansion of craft beers — the kids who most appreciated the«art of beer» wanted something more than a greasy chicken-finger to accompany the higher quality beers that are now available. From this was born the gastropub(basically a portmanteau of gastronomy and pub) currently sweeping the nation. The gastropub There is no exception in regards to this latest and fine obsession with fine beers and upscale foods. Walking through the front door the first thing you see is the bar — what else? There are tables along the walls and the aforementioned exterior seating — all very homey and pub-like. I arrived around 1:00 PM-ish and originally picked out There as a brunch spot(this was a Sunday) — most of the crowd had already departed so there were only people at about half the tables — I chose to sit at the bar and had a very pleasant conversation with Bill tending bar — it started with a discussion of the menu and naturally gravitated towards the beer — I noticed a lot of Monday Night Brewing taps — and immediately went with the Coffee Imperial IPA — something I hadn’t yet tried. It was delicious and I was responsible for demolishing several pints. Due to my change of plans(I don’t drink beer with breakfast foods — the best laid plans and all that), I started looking over the other menu items — quite a bit to digest there(sorry about the puns). I settled on the Seared Pork Belly with fresh Kimchi and Cascabel sauce. I really enjoyed this dish as it reminded me of Sam-Gyup-Sal(inverted wok pork-belly — if you haven’t tried Honey Pig in Duluth you’re missing out). The pork-belly was on the edge of crispy with a fair bit of caramelization topped with«kimchee» — in all quite good and worth ordering. My only thought and something I voiced to Bill Brown when he asked how I liked it was that the kimchee could use a bit more fermentation. I told him that even a week of exposure would give it a bit of fermentation and improve the acid, something that the fat needed in my opinion and he seemed receptive to the idea(I usually hate to give this type of feedback but will if asked) For an entrée I ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich — blue claw crab with fresh poblano slaw. This was also quite good and could use a little punch in my opinion(I like a stronger contrast in flavors than most — I think most of you would find it just fine) — next time I’ll order a side of spicy mustard or a remoulade if they have it. Not that I would slather the sandwich with it, but it’s nice to have something vinegary with the richness of the crab. Some other selections that looked interesting: Smoked Salmon wrapped shrimp with red beans and rice; There burger — grass fed beef, sautéed onion and poblano pepper; Roasted Duck Leg with braised turnip greens and butternut squash purée; Garlic Rosemary fries. I think I spent about an hour in the pub(live jazz!) and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Brookhaven certainly deserves and needs this fine establishment and hope them great success.

Amazing. Came here with a friend from out of town for brunch and will return fo sho. Great Bloody Mary. Got the fried avocado to start and the bison burger with rosemary fries… worth every second of food coma. The staff was laid back and caring(is that lame to say)? They sent us out w/complimentary banana cheesecake therefore I’m in love. :p
