Tom + Chee is a great option when you need some quick comfort food. I recently ventured to this new(ish) establishment in West Midtown on a Sunday afternoon, needing some grease in my stomach after a long festival Saturday. Plus, as a fan of Shark Tank, I wanted to see a winning idea in the flesh. First off, parking is convenient – the restaurant is in the new Westside Ironworks development across from West Egg(Barcelona West Midtown and O-Ku are neighbors). I was able to easily park in a non-valet space, but that may not be the case during busier times. Upon entering the establishment, you head to the counter to place your order(and they bring your food to you when ready). The employees were pleasant and offered up their recommendations on best dishes. I went with the basic Tom + Chee — prepared with tomatoes, garlic seasoning, cheddar, and mozzarella on hearty white bread. I also added bacon(duh, who wouldn’t?) My boyfriend went with the crunchy garlic chicken and creamy tomato soup. The sandwiches are delicious, just a bit on the heavy side… but that’s what you should expect from a soup and grilled cheese sandwich shop. Note to self: never look at the nutritional information(available on the Tom + Chee website)…I guess I’m not eating anything else today! We were also able to sit outside on this beautiful, not-too-hot day, watching the West Egg patrons battle each other for a coveted table and listening to some sweet tunes coming from the little pop up farmers market. Quite a pleasant experience. Again, a great option if you need some grease, especially if it’s cold and/or rainy. Just not an every day type place for me.

The idea seems so yummy that you set your tastebuds to enjoy the best delightful goodness you wish you’d thought of yourself. Building up great anticipation from Shark Tank then this happens: meh. Flop. I mean, my turkey and cheese classic sandwich was semi-tasty but not nearly as tasty as you’d imagine a Krispy Kreme donut and regular American cheese would be with some turkey.(In fact, I enjoyed the turkey best!) Something with the donut and cheese just wasn’t right. Perhaps the Krispy Kreme knockoff or wrong brand of cheese. But the anticipated explosion of acceptance and dance party on my buds did not occur. And frankly I was a little disappointed. Though my sandwich was ½ off during Wednesday happy hour I would have paid regular price if the owners had just sticked to the basics and produced exactly hat my tastebuds knew to expect.

Craving grilled cheese and tomato soup? Check it out. There are all kinds. Can’t decide which grilled cheese sandwich to get? Get ½ one kind, ½ the other. Parking? Free spaces on both sides of the building. Recognize the name? They were on Shark Tank. Also multiple Atlanta locations. They have grilled cheese donuts too. FLYINGPIGSANDWICH — $ 6.95 Couldn’t decide between Flying Pig and Longhorn — asked the cashier and he said Longhorn; then he said I could do ½ of each. Jackpot! Turns out I liked the Flying Pig better. Roasted turkey, bacon, pickle, smoked Gouda and hearty white. Pretty good — just messy to eat b/c the bread is all buttery. THELONGHORNSANDWICH — $ 6.95 I wanted this sandwich b/c of the avocado and Gouda. Also roast beef, tomato, red onion and hearty white. Too many red onions so removed most of them. Otherwise pretty good. Still liked the Flying Pig better. CREAMYTOMATOBASILSOUP — $ 1.50((soup dipper) «Soup dipper» sounds small but it’s actually a decent size soup — the others who got the cup size said they wish got the soup dipper. And who doesn’t love tomato soup w/grilled cheese? The soup was very good. Also sampled the Chunky Tomato Basil — I liked the Creamy version better. Next time I’d like to try the Pesto & Turkey Sandwich. A few at our table were raving about it. Plenty tables inside and out. Only weird thing is the sliding glass doors for the patio — I stood in front of them, waiting for them to open but turns out they’re not automatic. There’s a sign you have to hit to open the doors — but the sign is way off to the side. Confusing placement. Haha it’s probably funny to watch first-timers try to enter the patio. Or maybe just me.

This place would probably be good if you have kids but for adults it feels a little fast foodish and childish. I had seen it on shark tank and wanted to try it out. Food was subpar. The idea was good but I think they need to work out some of their recipes. Customer service was weak. I ordered a beer and they served it to me extremely foamy. Also I could barley understand the cashier, he was so soft spoken. They need to put a better people person up front.

Alright. So I love the concept. But for the price… I’m not a cheap skate… It’s just ok. We had the bbq bacon and strawberry lemonade. Cheese wasn’t melted all the way on the bbq bacon and the strawberry lemonade was good but it had so much things on it. I didn’t even taste cheese. Don’t hate it but don’t love it PS vallet parking is pretty much inevitable. No cash needed. They have squares

I give soup and sandwich shop Tom + Chee 3 out of 5 Unilocal stars. «A-OK.» This Westside location opened January 7, 2016 and is the chain’s first inside the perimeter. Other metro Atlanta Tom + Chee restaurants are out in the ‘burbs — Alpharetta, Buford, and Kennesaw. I’ve been to the Kennesaw location and liked it. I believe the Kennesaw location was the company’s first in Georgia. Originally based in Cincinnati, the chain has been expanding nationwide over the last few years. The founders even won investment money after pitching this business on the TV show Shark Tank in 2013. You can find this Tom + Chee in the new Westside Ironworks retail development, located across the street from West Egg Café(Westside Provisions District). Other restaurants at Ironworks include Barcelona Wine Bar(second Atlanta location) and O-Ku Sushi(second location). Like so many other buildings in this part of town, the restaurant is inside a repurposed building that looks like it was once a warehouse or factory of some sort. Inside, there’s exposed brick, beams, and ductwork, along with a pair of old-school garage doors that retract to an open-air patio. Overall, the space is clean and simple. Parking is free. Don’t worry if all the spaces are taken out front. There are plenty more in the back. This is a fast-casual restaurant where you stand in line, order and pay upfront, and take a number. There’s a single line with two registers. A server will bring your order to you. Water, tea, fountain drinks, disposable cutlery, napkins, etc. are self-serve at a station in the back, next to the kitchen. The menu consists of about a dozen«fancy» grilled cheese sandwiches($ 4.95 to 6.95 each), four extra crunchy grilled cheese sandwiches($ 6.45 to $ 6.95), about 10 sweet grilled cheese donuts($ 3.95 to $ 5.45), salads(yes, they even have a grilled cheese salad; $ 3.95 to $ 6.95), daily-made soups($ 3.00 to $ 4.50), and sides like mac and cheese($ 3.00 to $ 4.50). You have the option to build your own grilled cheese sandwich, from bread to cheese to toppings, starting at $ 4.95. Certain cheese toppings are $ 1 each and meats are $ 2 each. There are also special menu items exclusive to this location only such as a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket themed sandwich(I forget what’s in it). There are no combos. Everything is ordered a la carte. In general, I find the food at Tom + Chee to be good, but heavy. I’ve tried a couple sandwiches at this location: the Tom + Chee($ 4.95; diced tomato, garlic seasoning, mozzarella, cheddar, and hardy white cheese) which is a «fancy» grilled cheese sandwich and the Very Gouda BBQ($ 6.45; turkey, fried onion, BBQ sauce, Gouda, and hardy white cheese). They’re both fine. I do like the white bread here. It’s nicely buttered and toasted. I especially like the garlicky flavor it has on the Tom + Chee sandwich. I could do without the tomatoes, but they’re the only light and remotely healthy ingredient on this sandwich. The cheeses are rich and flavorful. The Very Gouda BBQ sandwich is filling with hearty chunks of shredded turkey and crispy slivers of fried onion on top of two cheeses. The grilled cheese donuts are decadent. Split donuts are flipped inside-out and used as buns for the sandwiches. Ingredients are placed in between, then the donuts are grilled. At this location, I’ve had the Strawberry Lemonade($ 5.45) grilled cheese donut. Inside, it’s got fresh strawberries, candied lemon, mozzarella cheese, and lemon mascarpone. Not bad at all, but a little too over the top for me. The smooth and creamy mascarpone is my favorite part. I prefer simpler donuts, but these are definitely worth a try if you’ve never had one before. Then you can say you’ve eaten a grilled cheese donut. I’ve tried the mac and cheese($ 3.00 small, $ 4.50 large). It’s alright. It’s an ooey, gooey, soupy mac and cheese. Tasty with a uniform consistency. In other words, no crispy, hardened top layer or crust; just soft elbow mac with creamy, melty cheese throughout. Service is fine. Melissa is great!

It was just ok. The idea of grilled cheese and Mac and cheese sounded so good, so I decided to finally try it out. First– Mac and cheese. It was so mushy. Just a mass of mush. The flavor was ok, but texture was really unpleasant. I ordered grilled cheese with tomato. The bread was crisp and nicely toasted, however I found the slices to be too thick to my liking. Tomatoes were tasteless and chunky, I suspect low grade, because it really didn’t taste like anything. The cheese part was ok. Will I be back? Probably, want to try out different sandwich option, never ever Mac and cheese, maybe will give it a shot to tomato soup.

After my first grilled cheese restaurant experience in NYC I had high expectations for Tom + Chee. Unfortunately, the food was just OK. This is what they have to say about their claim to fame: «Unlike most restaurants, we roast our own meats and make our dressings, sauces, and spreads from scratch. We also offer gluten-free bread, vegan cheese, vegan/vegetarian soups and make our basil pesto with sunflower seeds(perfect for our friends with tree-nut allergies). Tom+Chee goes the extra mile to serve all of our customers food that is awesome and fresh!» I had the Longhorn grilled cheese sandwich with the chunky tomato basil soup. While it wasn’t bad… it just wasn’t great. Personally, I think that its in the cheese. The bread was nice, crisp, and buttery but the cheese was just average. Maybe they should experiment with cheeses other than their standard«white cheese». I will admit, the donut cheese sandwich sounds like a delicious heart attack that i will have to sample in the future. Additionally, I have to mention the beer selection was pretty good. There was at least a dozen local craft beers from local breweries in bottle and on tap. There is also a nice patio, but I forgot to ask if dogs were allowed. The price point was what you would expect at about $ 10 for a cup of soup and sandwich.

Food They have a good selection of preset sandwiches and if you don’t like what you see you can build your own. I’ve tried a couple on the menu and I feel that some work much better than others. The Longhorn was good but since there was so much packed in it felt more like a panini and I was in the mood for a ooey gooey grilled cheese. The basil pesto is great when building your own but they put a lot so be prepared. They seem to run our of ingredients so I hope they work on keeping everything stocked. I love the soup dipper option since I don’t like drinking tons of soup but I like it with my grilled cheeses. The regular tomato soup tastes more like marinara but I like that. If you don’t, I would go for creamy tomato. Service The food is brought out quickly and the staff seem to be nice. Atmosphere Causal and good for a quick meal. There is parking around the building but the traffic around Howell Mill had gotten pretty bad so it might be easier to park in the structure near West Egg and cross over. There is plenty of seating. Overall A good cheap meal that will satisfy your cravings.

So I’ve had Tom+Chee before at the ATL Beer Fest, but it was only to have their spicy grilled cheese sandwich which was definitely a delight with the fontina cheese used then. This time around, I met a friend for lunch at the Howell Mill location and what I love is how easy, simple the meal but that you can actually sit down and take the time for some comfort food. I had the BLT grilled cheese. The sandwich was bigger than I expected and a little more wet, but it did not disappoint. I even ordered a bowl of their classic tomato soup but found that I didn’t really need it for dipping. As for sipping, it was a little hard to finish that bowl maybe because I’m used to more creamier tomato soups. So… if you do get soup, get the creamy version it’s probably better than the classic. I wasn’t even halfway done with my soup because it was just too salty and even slightly bitter for me. Nevertheless, I’m not writing off Tom+Chee. I’d be curious to come back and try their other grilled cheeses especially the one with mac and cheese in it. I know they can make good sandwiches and they come out pretty quickly too for a late lunch.

Flying pig with bowl of creamy tomato soup. I was having an uncontrollable craving for a grilled cheese sandwich. It got to the point where I googled and looked through several articles to find the best in Atlanta. Unfortunately, time permitted convenient libations only. I opted for this place because I figured that GC should be their specialty, right? Plus, how can one mess up a sandwich with essentially 3 ingredients?! I was already disappointed with the first bite. The chicken was quite dry. The overall sandwich itself did not wow me. I dipped the sandwich in the soup to give it flavor. My favorite tomato soup is at Zoe’s Kitchen. This one pales in comparison. It lacked thickness, richness, and aroma. I would opt out of this next time. The food, at best, deserves a 3 star. Perks: parking lot shared with a few other businesses. Service is friendly and unjaded. Even ambiance is nice. I like the details and the yellow and red theme(cheese and tomato colors!). I think I’ll be back to try other GC if I really have no where to go.

I’d heard of Tom + Chee before, even ventured in to the Alpharetta one once, but the line was too long considering other time commitments. Meeting a GT student for dinner, she talked about how she’d heard good things and wanted to try. There are lots of choices on the menu, or you can build your own. I got the goat cheese salad with white balsamic vinaigrette and added chicken along with a cup of the chunky tomato and basil. The chicken was a little on the dry side on the salad, but all in all, it was A-OK. While the soup was in fact chunky and had good basil flavor, it was nothing life changing. Probably best if you’re dipping your grilled cheese in it. Heena loved her custom grilled cheese and got a grilled cheese donut to go. A nice option that I wish had been there when I was a Tech student.

Holy cow, I’m glad that I bookmarked this location and read reviews from fellow Unilocalers. Since its kinda cool in Atlanta, I was in a sandwich/soup mood. I went to this location since it was the closet to the hotel. There was a little traffic since we are so near downtown Atlanta. I loved the location it was so scenic, there is a furniture and another restaurant forgot the name. We went inside it was empty, surprisingly. The chairs caught my attention it somewhat reminded of when I was in elementary school. Everything inside was color coordinated to yellow and red, how cute. Big windows on your right side, watching the ongoing traffic. It took us a minute to order since we were undecided on what type of sandwich we wanted to eat. My kids wanted to eat light and ordered from the kids’ menu. They got half a grilled cheese on white bread with a cup of tomato soup. It also included a side which both opted healthy, bananas and strawberries. I ordered a bowl of chunky basil tomato soup with half pesto & turkey. I ordered it on wheat berry bread which contained roasted pieces of turkey, mozzarella, and very tasty pesto. We were given a number and was told our food would be brought to us. The wait time was very minimal. I was surprised on how good my sandwich was, it actually pieces of roasted turkey, not deli turkey, with very tasty pesto and mozzarella cheese. As for the soup it had a very homemade taste, I literally tasted the basil, pieces of tomatoes and to top it off, I crushed the oyster crackers. This meal was an awesome combination. My son’s begged me to get them a smores doughnut, I couldn’t say no and I gave in. They pretty much ate the dessert, it looked good though. I couldn’t do it. At the end of the day, this is a must try, especially in cold temperature times. Ten thumbs up!!!

I love a grilled cheese! If you love a grilled cheese come here! I am not a big tomato soup fan but it seems to be the thing to go with a grilled cheese, so If you want a Tomato soup and grilled cheese combo, this is the place for it. This is the order at the counter, get your drink and then take a seat and they will bring you your food type of establishment. Its a decent size space so there was no problem finding a table on a Saturday afternoon. There is an outdoor patio that sits right on Howell Mill so I am sure its nice for people watching when the weather gets warm. The customer service was hit or miss while there, but I guess the servers who bring your food don’t work on tips so they are not that pressed to be the friendliest. There are different grilled cheese options, I had the bacon and cheese. It was good but it wasn’t the most awesome sandwich that I had. You have the option of going for a combo or just a sandwich. There is also the option to create your own sandwich which I like because Brie is on the menu as an option and who doesn’t love Brie. I love the fact there is a parking lot in the back as well. Good sandwich option on the Westside! I especially think this is a great place to take the kids.

A group of Unilocalers and I came together to check out the newest Tom and Chee location on the Westside this past Saturday. It is your typical, order at the counter and they bring the food to you service. While the line was long(Saturday at noon), it moved relatively quickly. Their menu is displayed on the back wall but they also have a scrolling presentation that displays the menu items as well. I ordered the classic Tom + Chee which is a standard grilled cheese with tomatoes in it. In addition to the sandwich, I ordered a cup of the classic soup. I loved the garlicky flavor in the toast but would have liked more cheese. The soup was horrendous though. In fact, it is probably a one star by itself. It didn’t taste like soup, but just like jarred marinara sauce and gritty. I’m hoping their creamy or tomato basil soups are better. My friend Vyvy T and I also shared a grilled cheese doughnut — the mint night dream. Basically, a doughnut cut in half stuffed with deliciously sweet toppings. The mint night steam had chocolate marscapone, fresh strawberries, mint candy, and mozzarella cheese. I thought mozzarella cheese sounded strange in a doughnut but I could barely taste it. The same goes for the mint candies. In fact, the flavor was reminiscent of just a simple chocolate covered strawberry. Overall, Tom and Chee is a’okay. I think the prices are reasonable(~$ 10 for the soup and sandwich), but the doughnut prices are steep($ 5-$ 6, and much smaller than the sandwich). Unfortunately, there are other places in the area that aren’t niche but still sell a delicious grilled cheese. I will probably not be back.

Let me start off saying I REALLYENJOYED my first UYE. Getting to meet some other Unilocalers. Now! Getting to the fabulous gooey ooey goodness that’s made from Tom+Chee kitchen. I first heard about Tom+Chee on the TV show the Shark Tank and later on Man vs. Food. And thought to myself ooooh!!! I hope they get the deal and come to Atlanta. When I saw that Lindy was hosting a meetup here I was stoked and quickly clicked I’m in. But later I forgot about the meetup, until I got the reminder. And boy was I glad. The restaurant is nestle in a corner spot along with other fabulous retails. But your nose will quickly point you in the direction of melting cheese. Once I got there I had to find a parking spot, due to shared parking with the other stores. Upon entering your are bombarded with a long line of customers with their eyes wide open and drooling mouths. At this point you have to decide whether your going to wait to see what the hype is all about or leave… Me it wasn’t a decision. I finally got to the counter and again I was bombarded with another challenge. Which was a very overwhelming and intimidating menu. I chose to try the Pesto+Turkey grill cheese. Which I shall was mouth water. But the Basil Tomato soup was just okay. It could have had a little more of the Basil taste. However I did swallow it down with a smile. Before leaving I decided to share the goodness with boyfriend by ordering a couple of togo sandwiches. And when Isay the Blueberry Blue donut and the Choco Bacon bliss was something to come home to after a long exciting night with the grandson. Man!!! I need to buy at least 6 of those and freeze them. But other than those few hiccups I mentioned everything was great. I will be returning.

I don’t know why Im not giving them a five star since everything was wonderful. Normally I miss the weekend Unilocal events since I work on weekends, but woke up about noon really hungry and had an email reminder of this Unilocal event, so i took a quick wash up and headed out the door to meet some fellow Unilocalers at a UYE. Arrived shortly before one and there was a good ten people in line in front of me but it moved quickly. Let me stop here to say there are two words that get me every time, and those two words are grilled cheese. I viewed the menu before leaving home and I’m glad I did. It can be a little imitating once you are at the register and there is really so many combinations to choose from. I went with the create your own half sandwich and a dipper of the soup of the day which was a blue cheese chili. When they brought the food to the table, it arrived as a full sandwich along with the dipper, I mentioned this to the person that brought it to the table, she took it back and came back and said it was there mistake and to enjoy the full sandwich. Which I did. It was perfectly melted and layered so that nothing fell out the sides of the sandwich and I didn’t miss a single morsel of any of it. The chili was delicious also. After looking at my receipt, I went back to the counter because I really couldn’t understand from the receipt if I had paid for the full sandwich or not since pricing is not posted and the cashier explained that I had, but she would void the transaction and re-charge me the correct price. I declined since I had wolfed down the entire sandwich anyway, when she said no… I’ll be happy to do it, it was our mistake. I felt so good about that, that I ordered a grilled cheese strawberry lemonade doughnut to go. Go for the doughnut. It made the best midnight snack when I got to work later tonight. I’ve already told three people about the place, and there’s a good chance Im going back tomorrow. Even though the parking lot is shared with several other retailers, I had no problem finding a place to park.

You know you’re in for a treat when you go to a grilled cheese spot and the menu overwhelms you. That was the case with me when we took to Tom + Chee for a saturday lunch. You first need to ask what you want, something a little more traditional like their fancy grilled cheese sandwiches. Here’s a sample of what they have, which includes: The Tom Chee — $ 4.95 Pep + Chee — $ 5.95 BLT + Chee — $ 6.45 Grilled Mac + chee — $ 5.95 several more Something a little different like their crunch grilled cheese, including: BBQ Bacon — $ 6.45 Very Gouda BBQ — $ 6.45 Italian — $ 6.45 Crunchy Garlic Chicken — $ 6.95 Or go completely off the rails with their grilled cheese donuts, including: The classic — $ 3.95 The king — $ 5.45 Mint summer’s night — $ 5.45 Choco bacon bliss — $ 5.45 several more In my case, I ordered the Very Gouda BBQ, for $ 6.45, which was a turkey and fried onion, in bbq sauce along with gouda and hardy white cheese. In addition, I ordered a cup of the daily soup, Classic Tomato, for $ 3 The sandwich was really delicious! True, it wasn’t just a plain grilled cheese, and actually it wasn’t all that crunchy as suggested, but the flavor was there, the bread was cooked perfectly(soft and buttery/cheesy in the middle, nice crusty edges), and the turkey was not dry at all. The soup texture was super smooth, and came with a side of oyster crackers, although I saw several dipping their sandwich in soup. My soup needed a little more salt if I were eating it on its own, but with the sandwich, it was just right. Parking is not a problem, although when you turn in, you’ll think it is… just keep driving to the back if you can’t find any spots in front of the store to see a nice wide back lot, shared by a few other stores along this little footprint. The lay out of Tom + Chee is a little interesting, mainly because the outside seating is only accessible by opening the garage doors that serve as an outer wall for the store, and this is where things got weird with customer service. Basically a server opening the doors in the winter, without turning on heat, ignored customers who were asking what was going on, and then shut the sliding doors to keep the cold out of the main portion of the restaurant(but leaving us, well, out in the cold). It took a different employee to come and help us all by closing the garage doors, and I appreciate Tom + Chee staff going behind their mistake and fixing it immediately. Thanks! Ignoring the isolated incidence, Tom + Chee has quality sandwiches, desserts and salads, and for that, they get four stars from me. I hope you get a chance to check them out if you’re in the area!

What is one of the best things on a cold night? Grill cheese and Tomato soup. Add bacon Add more cheese Add meats Add a grilled donut You have Tom & Chee. This place is affordable as long as you don’t go to crazy with the extras. I got their creamy basil soup and it was very salty and basil-y, I would go with the regular tomato soup and maybe the dipping sample size I got the regular grilled cheese and it was delicious, loved the way it was toasted, didn’t find it as oily as most«fancy» grilled cheeses I splurged and had their grilled doughnuts with candy lemons.(Are those things edible? Cause I tried to eat them and had no luck) strawberries and mascarpone cheese. It was SOGOOD. The only thing keeping me from eating here more often is the fact I would probably not fit in my pants after a few weeks. This review may skew bias as I love grilled cheese and tomato soup.

I think my expectations were too high or their niche is too specific for me. I agreed to meet some friends here for dinner after work two weeks ago. It is on my side of town so I hoped to have a new spot to add to my rotation I made the mistake of not looking at the menu before getting there. The cashier was very friendly. I looked over the menu with a friend. I knew the concept, but was surprised at how small the menu was. My friend asked some questions and the cashier answered them quickly. The grilled cheese donut made me question my dinner location. I ordered a Crunchy Garlic Chicken that came with sides. In my head I assumed I’d get a smushed grilled cheese sandwich with chicken, onion, tomato, etc. What I received was a sandwich for real. I was really thrown off by that. The sandwich was decent. Doubt I will go back, but may stop in to try some of the donut sandwiches… that do not include cheese… at some point. Worth trying… but check menu in advance!

MEH. Maybe I got the wrong thing today. But when you add a bunch of toppings to a grilled cheese, you also need to add a bunch of cheese to balance it out. The creamy basil soup was excellent however. My sandwich was a longhorn minus the roast beef. I wish I had tried one of the donut grilled cheeses. I think next time I’ll keep it simple and do a just bread and cheese option. The service was awesome, she helped me through the menu and made great suggestions! Will be back but for now I’m not convinced.

I was dubious paying $ 5 for a grilled cheese, but my worries went away after taking a bite into the the classic Tom+Chee sandwich. This location in is the west side iron district, across from west side provisions. There’s plenty of parking… for now. What I Ordered: Tom+Chee grilled cheese sandwich — 4⁄5 Quite possibly the best regular plain grilled cheese I’ve ever had. Someone once sold a «grown up grilled cheese» that was just too greasy. Cup of chunky tomato basil — 3⁄5 It tasted fresh and the oyster crackers were great in it. Dipping the sandwich in made for a memorable experience. The soup alone was a bit too tart/tangy for my taste. Think I’ll try the creamy tomato next time. I’ll definitely be back to try the donut options and the salads. Nice to see this being added to the area, though I wonder how it will fare in the summer time. — — - Went to Tom+Chee during lunch hour again. The cracks are starting to show. It was a bit chaotic. I placed my order at 12:30 and didn’t receive my food until 1:00. They had two registers operating but I don’t think the kitchen was able to keep up. The food wasn’t as good as my first experience. The bread was soggy and the cheese felt unmelted. I’m not the only one who had a bad experience. Many of the tables had been waiting longer than I. I did try a regular grilled cheese salad and I was really impressed by the quality of greens and veggies. They’ve got some kinks to work out and I hope it gets better. I like the creamy tomato soup the best so far. I’m reducing my rating to 2 stars.

Had heard about Tom+Chee from a few co-workers so we decided to try it out. It was awesome! We were really impressed with the choices of items on the menu. I went in expecting just a few sandwiches and a couple different tomato soups. They had tons to choose from. I ended up getting the sandwich special for the day, a California. It had cheese, avocado, bacon, tomato. It was hot and crispy. I ordered the creamy tomato basil soup. It was quite good. It was hot, creamy, and tasted like it was homemade. I really liked how they had different portion sizes for the soups(especially including the dipper, which is like a dixie cup size). Perfect for people who just like to try things. I tried one of my co-workers beer-cheese soup and didn’t love it. The two boys who got it said that they liked it, so personal preference, I just thought it was too tangy. The reason for the missing 5th star is because the employees seem to be confused about things. When I ordered ½ sandwich and cup of soup, the cashier told me it would be a dollar less if I ordered a drink. Hm, wait, so I will be paying $ 1 less in total if I get a drink, this didn’t make sense… so I asked her the price with and without the drink… really what she meant is that if I added a drink, she could make my meal a combo and instead of the drink being $ 2, it would only be $ 1. Ok, that make sense, but it’s not a dollar cheaper overall… Also, two of the boys who ordered bowls of soup were brought cups. The first person to mention they received the wrong item, the server immediately apologized, left the cup and brought an additional bowl. The second boy to point out that he received the wrong item was told that he was incorrect, and that the size he had on his tray was a bowl… it was not. A different server delivered another person’s meal and stated that he was right, he had not received what he ordered. They too brought out an entire new bowl of soup… At least they fixed the confusion, but we were annoyed that the server either was ignorant or lied about what he received… Overall however, awesome food! Will definitely be going back soon.

My first experience with Tom and Chee was maybe a year ago when I tried a grilled cheese at the Kennesaw location. My thoughts at that time for the trek all the way there and for quality of sandwich was that it wasn’t worth it. Now that this closer ITp location has opened, I had a completely different experience. First off this location is way cleaner and has a nice modern feel compared to Kennesaw location. Also I think the sandwiches are just better made here. I get the tom and Chee sandwich, but I get cheddar and pepper jack cheese instead, with the addition of spicy cherry peppers and sweet hot mustard. Recommend this version if u like a kick! Sandwiches are pretty simple, not super cheesy and not that greasy. I’m scared to try the donut sandwiches though that’s a little much.

We’ve been there twice now. The first time it was empty, the second time it was packed. Both times I ordered the same thing — the tom and chee grilled cheese, and a dipper size of the creamy tomato basil. Both times it took a really long time to get the food(over 30 minutes today — we timed it; to be fair we received a coupon for a free soup because of the wait). I don’t even mind waiting a really long time for my food. But both times my sandwich was BARELY warm. Like the two sides of the sandwich didn’t even stick together because the cheese wasn’t really melted. The first time I sent my sandwich back and they warmed it a little but not much, so today I didn’t even bother sending it back. My husband ordered the Mac and cheese grilled cheese and last time it was warm, today his was hot. The the flavor of the food is excellent, it’s just the temperature that isn’t quite right. Contrary to what others have said, I think the pricing is pretty good! If you want a cheaper grilled cheese go to McDonalds or something. It’s really reasonable. We’ve not spent over $ 15 there. We will be back at some point to use the coupon, but I’ll probably give them a few months to get the operating kinks out. Cold sandwiches just aren’t the business.

I wanted to love this place more. I remember seeing them on Shark Tank and thinking what a great idea the concept was — who doesn’t like grilled cheese and tomato soup? The restaurant is in a prime location in the new ironworks development in the westside. The space is roomy and clean. It also looks like they have a patio for when it gets warm outside. I had the blt grilled cheese with the small creamy tomato basil soup. The food was pretty good. The soup was great on a cold day … It did need some salt and pepper added and it was perfect I had some of the classic tomato soup that my fiancée ordered. Don’t waste your time w the classic version. The sandwich was simple put good. The bread was griddles and crunchy, the bacon was crisp, and the veggies were fresh. I had issue w two things, the confusing menu and the prices. They need help from a reputable graphics designer to design their enormous menu. I had to read it for 5 minutes to navigate it. The prices are a bit two high as well. Two of us are for well over $ 20. And oh yea, they need pimento cheese.

My husband and I had been wanting to go for months after seeing this place on Shark Tank. We both had«The Tom and Chee» and a soup dipper — he had the chunky and me the creamy one. My dipper was too salty and his too acidic for my taste, but the grilled cheese was absolutely delicious. We’ll be back to try some of the more exotic varieties, but we might go to the one in Kennesaw, which has more competitive pricing.

Great concept and great food. Parking can be challenging, and it is tough to see coming from south of Howell Mill but definitely worth a try.

I went last night with a few friends after hearing raving reviews from some other friends and Shark Tank. Let me just say that while the food was absolutely delicious(I got the Crunchy Chicken with a small soup), William was one of the most nicest hosts I’ve ever talked to at a restaurant. He explained the entire menu, threw his personal suggestions, and even gave us a free donut dessert afterwards for us to try. Talk about Southern Hospitality! Will definitely come back!

This was my second time at Tom+Chee and I ordered the Tom+Chee grilled cheese and creamy tomato soup! The grilled cheese with tomatoes and garlic was a perfect combination and the tomato soup was also delicious. This meal was perfect for the dreary weather and also pretty filling! My only hesitation is the price… $ 5 for a grilled cheese is little pricey. Definitely worth the try! They also have vegan and gluten free options for those with diet restrictions. I would definitely go back to try the grilled cheese donuts!

I had high hopes for my first visit to Tom + Chee. I was very excited to see that a location had opened nearby, and I made plans to have lunch there as soon as I found out. Plus, who doesn’t love a good grilled cheese sandwich?! Seriously, point them out so I can make sure I don’t associate with them(kidding). I had the Tom + Chee, just to get an idea of their run-of-the-mill sandwich. It was just okay to me. I only ate half, which I guess is a good thing since I’m supposed to be on new year’s diet anyway. I think it’s because I was expecting the tomatoes to be cooked vs. cold. I loved that they gave you the option to get a little bit of soup to dip your sandwich in, and I actually found the amount that they served to be pretty generous for a $ 1. It was enough for me to enjoy – I ordered the creamy tomato soup. I also had the green goat salad, which was pretty good. There are other items on menu I’d like try, so I’ll be back despite not being blown away during my first visit.

This was my first tome here and I was excited to try it out since I had seen in on Shark Tank. I tried both the chunky and creamy tomato soup. I personally liked the chunky more but this was a debated choice. The Tom chee was good and I had the swiss and shroom which was ok. The sandwiches were a lottle cold for my liking but the soups were warm. I also had the strawberry lemonade donut was was pretty good. It had a lot of mascarpone which ave it a creamy taste. and The lunch line was long and the restaurant was pretty full at lunch time. Service was good but a little slow due to the rush. The meal was overall ok and not worth the huge rush.

«The kitchen… I’m going to make myself a grilled cheese sandwich.» — Snow Day(2000) Who doesn’t love a grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of tomato soup? Personally, I’m a huge fan and I am thrilled to get a Tom + Chee on the Westside. I love a great sandwich(sammie in my speak) and I really love one that is warm, toasty and melty — really, it’s 3 of the main qualifications in a great sammie in my book. But what T+C does that makes it even better is the combinations they offer, including the addition of potato chips ON the sammie. Yes, you heard me right. That crunch element takes the grilled cheese to a whole new level of awesome. They offer three types of tomato soup — classic, chunky and creamy. Personally, I prefer the creamy version as it has a hint of basil and is less acidic than the others. They also have other soups as a featured soup of the day — but for me, you have to go with the tomato when having a grilled cheese. As for sammies, they have many combos available on the menu from just cheese, to packed with meat. Or, you can build your own from their list of ingredients. I have tried a few, but personally, I tend to go for the specials. Recently, my choice was the Hammy Whammy. This was pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, ham, barbecue sauce and barbecue chips on the hardy white bread — a home run for sure! They have bags of chips and pretzels available, but also a personal favorite are their salads where the croutons are mini grilled cheese sammies. Adorable and delicious! For a chain, this Shark Tank funded shop is a winner in my book and a welcomed addition to the Westside options for lunch.

So, $ 40 for three sandwiches(which were by no means«fully loaded» or anything), two sides, and three fountain drinks. My third of the order was $ 12 for a roast beef sandwich, slightly warm shot(little dipper) of tomato soup, and beverage. Aside from the soup being barely warm, the food was delicious but by no means was the meal worth that much unless there was a real side included. There was a huge line when we got there and the whole time we were eating and they still didn’t open up the second register. I do wish I had tried desert though, and it is advertised as «Gourmet» which is the same as saying«Expensive» so it is what it is. When we brought the soup temperature to their attention we got free sandwich cards for next time which is why it’s a three star review instead of two. Go check it out for the novelty and then just make your own sandwich at home for 1⁄5 the cost. Full order: «make your own for 4.95» Pumpernickel rye, gouda+$ 1, american cheeses, roast beef+$ 2, onions, & sweet, spicy mustard, a Little dipper of creamy tomato soup+$ 1.50.

This place is pretty awesome! So many varieties of grilled cheese and tomato soup. You can even order a grilled cheese donut if you dare! I had a grilled cheese sandwich with cheddar and pepper jack cheese and it was scrumptious! I tried the soup of the day which was a pepperoni soup and while I was not a fan, the creamy tomato soup looked like it was a winner. I would definitely come back again and maybe be bold enough to try the grilled cheese donut. We shall see. Would definitely recommend you check it out if you are in the area!
