Come to expect the unexpected from this tequila bar in the middle of the Borgata! Every winter we come to AC for a guy’s reunion weekend and the Gypsy Bar more often than not becomes the unofficial home base. There’s no cover and overall the live music and the bands that play here are pretty great! We stopped in on both Friday and Saturday night and when the bands are playing this place gets hopping! 3AM Tokyo in particular played the late set on Saturday and they were AWESOME! Also, even when the place is packed the bartenders do a very good job so you won’t have to wait long for a drink. This is a really fun place for a group and reflected in the random crowd — think wedding parties, mother-daughter weekends, surgically altered older women on the prowl, and Snookie look-alikes! In terms of entertainment, there’s usually something for everybody! When you can use a break from gambling, not feeling the club(or just paying a cover), and the band is playing, Gypsy is a great bet! Also, if you’re staying for more than one drink, try and snap up a high-top table by the stage to take in all the action — although just be prepared to be scooped onto the dance floor!

gypsy bar for me is more of a comedy and less of a bar. overpriced cocktails are ridiculous and really the key is to drink in the room before you go and during set breaks of the band. the older folks who come here really are the entertainment. decent bands(first bands of the night are not good. usually a mercy booking in my opinion) and it’s never super hot in there. if you’re in the mood to laugh about absolutely hammered women having a midlife crisis in inappropriate outfits hitting on band members half their age then you’re in the right place!

I was here for two private parties. The service was attentive. The bartenders were quick to make you a drink. The servers kept on top of everyone and asked if they needed drinks. There was a buffet along the back wall with various types of food such as burgers, crab cake sandwiches, make your own nachos and salads. It was nothing exceptional but definitely hit the spot. There was a band that played. Whoever is picking the bands at the gypsy bar is doing a great job. The bands always sound great. Whether a private party or stopping in while it’s open to the public it’s definitely worth it.

What a pleasant surpise to find Gypsy Bar! While waiting to go dancing at Mur Mur, we decided to grab a drink first at Gypsy bar, and boy was it poppin’ in here! They have a great band playing some oldies hip hop and everyone was pretty much singing at the top of their lungs… or maybe just me, but still. They have a nice drink selection, we opted for a regular house margarita which was mighty strong at about $ 12 a pop, which is not terrible. The server was very friendly, and fast despite there being a ton of people here and it didn’t seem like too many servers to attend the bar tables. The crowd was dressed to impress, just like a regular club, the crowd was on the older side 30+ though. They do have a small dance area right in front of the band, which invited a few brave souls to strut their stuff despite the bright lighting. We came on a Sunday night of a Holiday weekend and there was no cover and live music, which is a great combo. Definitely a great date night place in AC or if you are not looking to go all into the club scene but still want to hear some music. Overall, a great place to grab drins, good music and even a dance or two.

I love Gypsy Bar. That’s not because the drinks are amazing or the wine/beer/cocktail selection is amazing(it’s not). It’s because whoever books the bands for this gem of a bar knows what they are doing. I have heard some truly phenomenal cover bands here(some with their own music as well). I mean really some of the best bar bands I’ve heard anywhere(watch especially for Longreef and Laura Lea & Trip Fabulous). There’s no cover, and if you like tequila, they do have some good choices here. More about that later. The bartenders work their butts off here, so even if it’s crowded you won’t wait too long for your beverage. Considering it’s the Borgata, drink prices are reasonable. The arrangement of the bar is also ideal for just chilling out and listening to the band or DJ, or dancing — your choice. It’s a nice crowd too — a little upscale, as you’d expect for the Borgata, but not snooty. Everyone is just here to have fun. Weekends of course are best, and you’ll usually see the best acts on Friday & Sat night. What I really enjoy is that the first band plays at 8:30pm, so you can catch some great live music right after dinner, and not wait until 10 or 11 to hear some good music. Each band plays two sets, and the second band starts around 11. I would give Gypsy Bar five stars except for the fact that I do think their drink selection(except for the tequila) is rather weak for an upscale bar in an upscale hotel. The wine choices are limited, as are the beer choices, and no hard ciders or gluten free beers. C’mon guys, you can do better than that. With a little Angry Orchard and/or Omission, you’d solve the problem and stay within the craft beer/tequila genre. On your next trip to AC, and especially if you’re hitting the Borgata, don’t miss Gypsy Bar(and then if you need a really, really romantic place to drink after that, try the Sunroom at the Water Club, just down the hall.
