This is easily the worst restaurant in Atlantic City, most likely in New Jersey, and possibly the entire East Coast. I went for a bachelor party, and this place screwed things up so bad that I’m sure a kindergarten class could have done better. It was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish, and left us all wondering how this place is even open. Anyone who gave this restaurant more than one star should probably see a psychologist immediately for a thorough evaluation. The waiter, Jose(and he barely qualifies for that title), should probably be looking for a new line of work. Service was nonexistent, and the few times we did see him, he forgot what we had asked him for. It took almost a half hour just to get three bottles of wine to the table, and he forgot my friend’s Diet Coke for damn near an hour. Apps hit the table almost 45 minutes after ordering, and if we had known how bad they were going to screw up dinner service, we would have left. Dinner came a bit faster, but I don’t think there was one plate that hit the table that wouldn’t have been better off being donated to the local animal shelter. Everything was wrong. Literally not one plate out of about 16 was correct. EVERY steak was cooked wrong, sides came out either wrong, cold, or not at all, and the staff serving the food had no idea which plate went to which person. I didn’t get my baked potato until I was already done with my steak, and it was wrong even then. You’d think they might be able to make a loaded baked potato in an hour, but you’d be very wrong. Even when they re-cooked the steaks, they were bland, flavorless, and nothing you couldn’t do in your house for 10% of the cost, and it would be infinitely better. Half the table’s food didn’t come out for 15 minutes after the first half, so half the people were already done while the rest of the table was served. Hands down the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Finally, and perhaps most egregious, was the lack of understanding or compassion, or the ability to correct any of this by Jose or the manager. Instead, they told us «We’re only open on Saturdays, and aren’t a real restaurant.» Really, maybe we shouldn’t have had to pay half a grand of real money then, huh? They took a few things off the bill, but that didn’t even come close to fixing the damage they had caused. Afterward, Jose came to make a half-hearted and sarcastic apology to the table, and laughed as he walked away. This guy is lucky to even have a job, and if this restaurant wasn’t as poor as his serving skills, he certainly wouldn’t. In terms of restaurant disasters, this place is Hurricane Katrina, and at Peter Luger’s prices(but not even remotely close to the quality). I’d give it negative stars if I could. It should close down, and stop torturing innocent patrons like it does. There are so many better options in Atlantic City, including Old Homestead at the Borgata, Ruth’s Chris, and Mortons, some of which might actually be cheaper than this hellhole. We had reservations for 10 at 730, we arrived promptly at 730 and were told our table was not ready, we said no big deal we will just get a drink at the bar, No bar! we were told to wait by the garbage can in the cigarette stinking hall way and they would call us. 15 min later we finally got a seat after standing around the golden garbage can smelling its contents. The service was AWFUL. they took forever to even take our drink orders, the waiters ignored our requests for anything, I’m still waiting for my diet coke 24 hours later. when the main course came, it came one at at a time to the point where half the party was done before others even got their meals. I ordered my steak rare and it came out gray and well. 3 of the 9 people had to send there meals back due to overcooking, they forgot half the sides we ordered but charged us for them anyway. The crowd at the restaurant can be described as JerseyHousewives meets devils rejects. Old drunken woman wearing mini skirts taking selfies and being loud. We were a bachelor party and were were the best behaved guests. The crying baby on the other side of the room was annoying but understandable considering the service, i felt like crying too. After complaining to the manager and getting a list of excuses including«this place isnt even a real restaurant, its only open on saturday», I have no idea who the idiots are that gave this place a good review but its a disaster, AVOIDATALLCOSTS

If I could describe this restaurant in one word it would be INCREDIBLE. Our waitress was amazing, very friendly and waited on us like kings and queens. Her name was Cynthia and I would never try another waitress. We went for my birthday and I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better dinner. All of our steaks were cooked to PERFECTION, the prime rib and sirloin are to die for. Max’s is absolutely AMAZING, a must try when in AC. Definitely our go to restaurant for when we are in the area.

Max’s is probably the best steakhouse in all of Atlantic City. The food is great as is the service and atmosphere. It is always the first place on my list to go for a great dinner or celebration. Unfortunately, the restaurant is only open 2 days a week and lately it’s never open when I am in AC. Not sure why such a wonderful place would limit themselves to serving their fans only 2 nights a week. Any chance that will change now that Safari is closed?

It is one of the more affordable steakhouses you can go to in Atlantic City. It’s pretty dark in there and it’s got an like old school, classic steakhouse feel. It’s really not a hang out spot, it’s very low key, not for the younger age demographic, but if you’re looking for an affordable steak meal that’s pretty decent, I’d say Max’s isn’t bad.

I’m definitely a fan of the 3 course prix fixe — $ 29.99 for an app, prime rib, and desert. Delicious prime rib with a nice crust. You will definitely be full and satisfied. Drinks are stiff and generous. However, I would only come for the prix fixe which I believes run until 7:30PM or so. The other options on the menu are pricey as heck and I can’t imagine the Trump Plaza could consistently push out meals worth that price. Granted — I haven’t tried them, but I would rather head over to Ruth’s Chris or even Morton’s for the same price, if not cheaper.

Woah woah woah. 5 stars??? Allow me to inform you and keep your money in your wallet and not at this terrible place. My man and I just got back from a birthday funfest in AC and overall, I’d say our eating experience was mediocre, expensive, disappointing. Max’s was NO exception. The server(Jose) pretty much ignored us in favor of his larger parties. We stood in the entryway for way too long not being acknowledged by the staff(my #1 pet peeve). Breadbasket was stale and boring. Tuscan salad was gross, overdressed and wilty. No one checked in with us or they would’ve known how much we disliked it. Steak was cooked fine. Whatever. With sharing a salad and 2 filet mignons we managed to spend 114.00. That ish cray. We drank water. Don’t eat here it sucks.

In planning the steak dinner for my brother’s bachelor party, i had just a few criteria that I could control: not a chain, close enough to the hotel that we could get there within ten minutes of walking away from a table, and nice enough to add some class to the weekend. Max’s fit all those criteria. But, once you sit down, it’s completely out of your control – how good will the steak be? How good will the service be? And the booze? Luckily, and overwhelming 5 stars on all the above! I had a near heart attack when we arrived and they didn’t have our reservation. This would turn out to not be a problem because they had a table to accommodate us immediately. My advice, call the restaurant directly on the day’s they;‘re open. They’re only open 4 days a week, so i made my reservation on an off day through the Trump Plaza reservation line, and they booked it at the wrong restaurant. Not Max’s fault – but a caution if you want a reservation. Upon being seated, we were given the wine list and a huge basket of delicious breads and crackers. The wine list was extensive, but there’s was something for all budgets. We chose a mid-level wine that turned out to be a great decision. I had a filet minion for my steak, and the remainder of the table went with that, the NY strip or the biggest prime rib I’ve ever seen. My steak was easily one of the top three steaks I’ve ever had: cooked to perfection, and with a nice crust on it from some sort of glaze, i was flying high. The sides were a nice complement, though the asparagus was no question the best I’ve ever tasted. Just incredible. Making the night the perfect balance between classy and«manly»(as bachelor parties are wont to be), was the service. It had a nice combination of high class, fill your wine, «gentlemen what can I get for you» along with your typical«taking the plunge, eh?» and so forth. This is probably a great place for any regular old dinner, but for the occasion, it’s really the best you can get, and I recommend it with my whole heart(and, i suppose I should comment on the price, wallet).

Their medium rare New York Sirlon is one of the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommended if you won some money after gambling in AC!

He said, «fine dining at its best… this place just knows how to treat people and their food. I had a NY strip steak with mushrooms and hands down this was the best steak I have ever had. Cooked medium well and not fatty like those „prime“ steaks at Waffle House or Outback… Just be advised come ready to eat because they give you alot of food. And make sure you bring a couple hundred bucks two if you eating there with your lovebug.» She said” I had the best steak i have ever eaten here. It was really good and just the right size. This place was very fancy and the all the servers were all very friendly. The only thing i didnt like were the au gratin potatoes because they had sour cream or soemthing in them, but everything else was perfect. I would definatley go back again.”
