U-Haul Moving & Storage of North Auburn

Needed a truck asap, they hooked us up. After our in town move + dolly rental $ 45. We suggest the dollys, only 7.50 to rent and they work great moving heavy stuff on carpet. Friendly and welcoming staff.

After dropping off my truck before closing I realized I forgot my wallet on the front seat. I called the U-​Haul number and was told that there are no more employees at this location since it was 5 mins after 7. I let her know I just left there and I saw several employees. I just wanted to be sure they were alerted about my wallet so it could be placed somewhere safe. I was told there is nothing she can do. I said, so I just have to hope no one takes it home overnight? She said yes. The customer service was terrible. She told me she would put a note in the system and I could come back tomorrow.
So I came back first thing in the morning and no one knew what I was talking about, I let them know what truck it was left in. While waiting for someone to do something I went into the lot, found my U-​Haul truck, opened the UNLOCKED door found my wallet just sitting there. My life was sitting in an unlocked truck overnight that could have easily been stolen. Or I guess I could have just gone back and got it myself. Obviously no one cared to look for it and no note was left to alert the workers. I felt very upset and like everyone could care less. I will never recommend this location. I was stressing all night about my wallet and it was valentines night so it ruined a lot more than just my mood that night. Employees could care less, customers do not come first here.

They are fantastic. All kinds of moving supplies and boxes, including some freebie used boxes. Knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. Will even help take the boxes to your vehicle. +++++++++++++

The staff here is freindly enough. I do however have an issue with the policy on the boxes. They say in quite a few different places that they will buy back whatever boxes you don’t use. This seems like a good idea. The problem is that when it comes time to carry out that promise they refuse to come through. The employee told me I had to have a receipt or I could only get store credit. What good would store credit do me? The boxes clearly say uhaul with their logo on them. It’s pretty obvious I bought them at uhaul. There should be a way to look in their system to see when I used my debit card.
I haven’t used uhaul in many years because they burned me two different times when I tried to move. The first time I had a reservation but when I showed up for my trailer they refused to give me one. The solution was to give me my $ 5 reservation fee back. That isnt much help when everything is packed and there are people at my house to help me move. The second time they took my reservation but when I showed up to get it, they suddenly made up a rule that you cant use a Ford Explorer to tow. They won’t tell you why. The reason I mention these incidents is to point out that its not just one experience I’ve had. Evidently they still don’t put a value on customer service.

Had our hitch installed at this location. Talk about a mistake. I first noticed a horrible noise coming from the vehicle just 2 days later. I brought it back here and the guy said he didn’t know how to really fix it and that I should take it to a different location. Took it to the Parkland location. The guys there were really friendly and propped up the van right away. They told me that 1 bolt was missing and another was halfway out on the same side. They said I was lucky that I hadn’t towed anything yet or I might have ripped it completely off. They also stated that the rest was installed incorrectly and that was why it was hitting my muffler. Overall, don’t go here for hitches, go to Parkland. Ugh.

I am writing this review specifically for this location’s UBox services. After doing some research I decided that I was going to go with UBox being that it was the cheapest option. It also saved me from having to drive a huge truck across 3 states. Still, it cost be about $ 700.
I try really hard to be prepared and went into this location several times to confirm my reservation. After four different visits I couldn’t believe how unorganized they were. Every single time the person I talked to wrote down different information in my file and could never get my reservation straight. At one point they even had me going to a different state. I didn’t feel confident and was worried that I would lose my stuff. The only reason I give this location a two star rating rather than 1 is because of the UBox manager Milton. He is the only person to talk to regarding UBoxes. He cleared things up right away and made sure I had confirmation emails which made me feel much better. It would be best to bypass any other representative in the office and go straight to him. If that’s not an option I would make sure that you know every single detail before you walk into that building. They hardly seemed to understand the options they provide so you need to be very confident knowing what you want.
Overall the convenience of the UBox was great, but make sure you have your ducks in a row and TALK TO MILTON.

Moving is going to be a hassle, of course. It’s easier and much appreciated when you have excellent customer service before and when arriving at a U-​Haul.
We scheduled a trailer and a month-​long storage unit for ~$ 70, which is a great deal. The storage unit has climate-​controlled units and you can be rest assured of their security system. You have to have a key card to deactivate the alarm and then to activate it again upon leaving, both done at the front. Failure to do this is bad — very, very bad because the automatic sliding doors open no matter what making you think you’re good to go and you’ll have the keys to your lock but if you didn’t disarm the system, you’re in trouble.
Here’s what you have to do:
1) Slide security key card to disable alarm.
2) Walk to storage unit.
3) Unlock storage unit with keys.
4) Slide lock to the left.
5) Dilly dally/​find/​not find what you’re looking for.
6) Lock up storage unit.
7) Walk back to front and slide card again to activate alarm.
