I’ve had lunch three times, and liked it each time. I enjoy the cozy atmosphere and fairly prompt, courteous service. The owner is on site every time I go in — I believe that kind of attention makes a difference. The Bento Box is a very large portion of food: I wasn’t ready for so much. The sushi is, of course, made to order, and is very fresh. I’m no stranger to sushi, and like to venture into new areas — the Augusta Roll was really nice today, though I doubt there’s anything on the menu that isn’t worth trying. The waiter gave me his recommendations for next time. Very professional staff, relaxed feel, good food. This is my new place for lunch.

The southwest tuna tartare is delicious and well balance. The portion size is worth the price. It’s my new favorite appetizer!

One of my favorite places to dine in Augusta!!! The food is incredible! I love the sushi and have never been disappointed with a meal or the service. It is quite small and very popular so it can get crowded during peak dining hours but I have never had to wait a very long time for service. Take out is also great! I have called in orders many times and picked up dinner on my way home. Great option to have on their really busy nights! I have been to the Evans location as well but the Highland Ave is my favorite!

For some reason I hadn’t heard about this place. It’s in a nice area but it’s quite a small restaurant. We didn’t have to wait long for a table because it was just the two of us. Plus the tent as still out in the front post masters week. I would say there are about 10 – 15 tables for two, which can of course be combined. There’s also a sushi bar with seating. The concept of the restaurant is weird for me. I assumed it would be a fusion of sushi and Mexican food. Nope. There’s some sushi(actually a good variety) and then some Mexican food. There’s also oysters. I don’t know what’s going on with all this. Anyways, the food– I had a pretty basic roll(Japanese bagel– which was just like a philly roll). It was pretty good, nothing amazing. The hubby got the taco burger which he really enjoyed. It looked quite large to me and he was stuffed when he finished it. All in all, it’s a decent restaurant. I guess it’s great if a group of people craving Mexican and sushi.

Tacos and sushi and in the same restaurant??? Yes, please. Stopped by on our way out of town and had an unbelievable time. Between me and my girlfriend we split two appetizers(egg rolls and chicken dumplings), got three rolls of sushi and an order of tacos. Everything we had was top notch, the fried cod tacos were a special that night and I could have eaten 10 of them if they had put them in front of me. The fish in our sashimi rolls were fresh and flavorful. Bar was fully stocked. The only negatives I have are that the appetizers are really small portions, when we go back I’ll just get an extra roll of sushi before getting an app, and the fact that the hot sake is warmed up in a microwave then served to you. Overall this is one of the best places we’ve eaten at in Augusta and can’t wait to return for another meal.

The seating is not for a big family, but the atmosphere was good. Very laid-back, close to each other seating, that made it a nice homey feeling. The California rolls were good(served in 8). The taco burger was great with the fried egg.

I love when I go to a place highly recommended and I experience an even better experience than anticipated! I had a hard time picking out which direction I wanted to go in, but decided on the stuffed jalapeño starter and yellowtail special for dinner. It was phenomenal, and I love their Samurai drink that combos sake and vodka in a refreshing lime/cucumber concoction. Highly recommend!!!

Very Americanized sushi and other kind of gimmicky food being served in their attempt at being trendy. Overall some good items but also some letdowns.

Sometimes, you really just want guacamole and sushi… and when you do, Takosushi is your place to go. Consistently good food. But, the Mexican options are pretty expensive. We usually stick with guacamole app, crazy caprese salad(order it. It’s amazing) and some kind of roll, usually whatever is the weekly special. Good place for a date.

Takosushi should be so wrong, and yet somehow Japanese and Mexican food together are so right. I come here pretty much every time I’m in Augusta for work or play. I met two of my Augusta friends for dinner and we grabbed a patio table because that’s just a given when it’s only in the 80’s in August in Augusta. Our server gave menus and I promptly ordered chips and queso for the table and a Mezcal Mule. Tequila, ginger beer, and lime juice, move over Moscow Mule! Chips and queso were delightful per usual. Our server was very nice, but when telling us the dinner specials she mispronounced the world«SAL-MON» no less than five times. Needless to say, we all declined. Both of my friends went for sushi, but I thought I should pair my tequila and queso with chile rellenos. The Augusta locals I was with informed me you were supposed to get sushi not Mexican here. #whatever Our food arrived pretty quickly and did not disappoint per usual. The relleno entrée is a very hearty serving of two rellenos, rice, and beans. It’s far more fresh and gourmet than Vallarta per se. Both friends raved and clean plated their sushi. I’ve had it before and think it’s very good although not the most authentic seeming like some I’m used to in Atlanta. Really I can’t think of anything negative to say about Takosushi. If you’re in Augusta, it’s a must dine in my book. I’d really like to broaden my Augusta meals more, but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and Takosushi has been my go to spot for almost a decade now.

i don’t consider myself a sushi expert, but I’ve eaten a many raw fish in my lifetime. i was super looking forward to trying this place out and all in all, the experience was just alright. the sushi was delicious. i always order the spicy tuna roll at any sushi place cause it’s hard not to mess that one up. and also the Micky’s roll which was surprisingly good! — -i normally don’t try cream cheese in sushi but in this one, it blended well with the rest of the roll. but that’s pretty much all that I enjoyed at Takosushi… we waited 20 min for edamame. we sat at the bar, and overheard our waitress ask the sushi chef about the edamame, upon which he immediately started preparing it. and by «preparing» I mean he put a bowl of edamame into the microwave with some sprinkled sea salt on top and heated it up and served it to us… like what the heck man. at times they put tempura rolls into the microwave too. how odd. i’ve never seen a restaurant use the microwave so may times to heat food up like that. at least heat it up in the back where people can’t see~

Headed to Abel Browns but I saw TakoSushi which was also on my list. Stopped in and enjoyed some«cooked» Sushi. Very good for folks who can’t stomach raw fish.

I give this place a 3 stars for now. My experience left much to be desired. While I recommend the tempura asparagus to anyone, and also the sushi, I wasn’t a fan of the chicken tamales. I didn’t even eat a third of my dish, my waiter was kind enough to remove it from my bill since it pretty much went untouched. I really appreciated that, and it saved my overall dining experience from being ruined. Now, to the reason I am giving Takosushi 3 stars, from the moment I sat down until the moment I left I was privy to conversation amongst the workers, I knew who was just suspended, who hated who, heard a few workers call other workers who were not at work the«B» word, knew who came to work drunk, and how much of a pain others were. To me, if you are running a business, you don’t discuss the inner turmoil of the company around your customers, you don’t trash talk around your customers, and your customers shouldn’t know all the drama that is going on between employees and management. It’s not a good look. The cooks and waitresses/waiters all participated and really didn’t seem to care if I was sitting there or not. It made for an uncomfortable experience.

Same quality food and service. It gets crowded in this little restaurant so you better show up early or way late. Never fails. Kevin’s crazy roll is always a hit. Just can’t stand that the staff is constantly hovering over our table to get every empty plate, glass, fork, paper wrapper off of it. Drives me insane. When we are DONEYOU can take our plates.

Takosushi was the choice for a Tuesday evening dinner with two of my close friends. I arrived a couple minutes before my friends and after a warm welcome from the hostess, I went ahead and requested a table for 3. The restaurant itself is not very big but luckily a table of 4 had just left and the hostess began preparing that table for us. We were seated and our server Meredith came over right away. She brought us waters and answered our many questions about the drink menu, giving her perspective on the martinis we asked about. After several minutes of indecisiveness, we each ordered a martini — one was the cucumber-based martini, another was(I think it’s called) the Miki Tini, and I got the key lime-based martini. I wish I could remember the exact names of each because they were all very different from each other but delicious in their own way. Mine was like key lime pie in a glass without being overly sweet or overly sour… YUM! We also started with a bowl of the green chili queso dip while we poured over the multiple pages of sushi rolls. The generous serving of warm queso came with plenty of chips and a side of salsa. I ordered a volcano roll while both of my friends got the crazy roll. In the few we waited, we continued to nosh on the queso, Meredith checked to make sure we were good and also filled our waters. The sushi came out fairly quickly and I could tell it was very fresh fish. The volcano roll was perfection — Tuna tartare, cucumber, fresh tuna, avocado, takosushi sauce & teriyaki glaze. I did trade a piece of my volcano roll to my friend to be able to try the crazy roll. The Crazy Roll(Shrimp tempura & cucumber, topped w/fresh shrimp, crab, avocado, teriyaki glaze & takosushi sauce) was the perfection combination of crunchy and savory. We chatted for awhile as we enjoyed our meal. Despite how busy they were, we never felt rushed or ignored during the meal. It was very nice that Meredith was able to split the queso three ways so that we each had our own check. In addition to the sushi, she was definitely a highlight.

So many changes! They have definitely revamped their menu since the last time I’ve been here with a stronger emphasis on great quality sushi! This is now my favorite spot to get sushi in Augusta. It’s located in the very quaint and popular Surrey Center with a bunch of boutiques, bars and other nice restaurants. The atmosphere is hip, young and always busy due in part to it being a small popular restaurant. The last time we came on a Thursday night around 8 and were lucky enough to snag the last 4 top. There was a wait starting to form by the time we left. Always expect a wait on the weekends. They get busy early. There’s outside seating on the sidewalk and they have heat lamps for use when it’s cold. Drinks were delicious and very reasonably priced around $ 8 for specialty cocktails. I was a big fan of the pear martini and my friend’s cucumber mojito. They also had a great selection of wines and beers. For our entrée, all 4 of us opted to get the Bento box which came with miso soup, salad, your choice of sushi roll, 5 pieces of nigri and 12 pieces of sashimi that were chef’s choice. It’s advertised as being for one person but it could have easily been split up between two people. Miso soup and salad were standard. I went with the Hot Mama Roll(Dynamite Roll Faced Up, Topped with Tuna Tartare, Togarishi Pepper & Sriracha Drizzle) and it was delicious. The tuna tartar had so much flavor. Now, my one pet peeve about this place is how Americanized most of the sushi rolls were by either being deep fried or containing cream cheese. So be ready to ask for changes if you prefer real sushi. Now, what blew me away was how fresh and thick the slices of sashimi and nigri were. There were 3 sashimi pieces each of salmon, red meat tuna, fatty tuna, and mackerel. I had one piece each of salmon, red meat tuna, mackerel, fatty tuna and shrimp nigri. It was SOGOOD. Definitely recommend this option if you enjoy fresh sushi since you get a taste of everything. Service was excellent. Despite being busy, our server and I assume someone he was training gave us time to decide on the menu, have recommendations, kept our drinks filled and was always around if we needed anything. Highly recommended!

Fourth time to Takosushi… seemingly becoming a go to place for me in the area. We always get the fried asparagus. It is panko battered, fried, and served with a sweet soy based dipping sauce and some of what I call Yum-Yum sauce. I had a Crunchy Shrimp Roll and two pieces of Yellowtail and Salmon sushi. All in all pretty good. The service has always been great. When the weather is good, they have outdoor seating. The only downside is that the place is rather small and the single restroom opens right into the dining room.

I like Takosushi. This restaurant reminds me of New York restaurants mainly because it’s fairly small. However, the intimate atmosphere is cool. I’ve visited Takosushi so many times. I’ve dined in and ordered take-out. Each time, I’m pleased. On my most recent visit, I sat at the sushi bar for the first time. Mainly because there was a good number of customers dining. It was also a bit chilly that day and it was a good seat if you didn’t want to feel the draft from front door. We had a great waitress. My friend was indecisive about what she wanted to order and the waitress did a good job of explaining all the options. I ended up ordered The Folley Roll, which was a special. I also ordered Miso soup, vegetable spring roll and a cocktail. I enjoyed everything. This is a great spot in the Summer. You can sit outside. I absolutely love outdoor seating. Also, the parking is good in the evening. This is because all of the surrounding shops have closed. I’ll be back. One of the best places to get sushi in Augusta.
