The knife selection is huge. Knives from China, Spain and their top of the line from Germany. Meat cleavers are also varied making distinct differences between«meat cleavers» and«bone cleavers.» There is also a selection of baked enamel wear. I took my knives in for sharpening when I found out it was a short wait and $ 1/inch. The staff is very very knowledgeable, which always makes for a good experience, along with being pleasant. I will go back for a better set of knives soon, unless I get a new set as a gift! Hint hint!

I finally ponied up for a premium set of knives. I visited this location a long time ago but didn’t jump on the multi-hundred doller purchase at the time. Macy’s has constant sales, most recently a 2-day Easter one, but their prices on cutlery sets among other things reek of chicanery. «Regular price $ 602, sale price $ 449.99, 2-day sale $ 399.99.» And cutlery sets are almost as confusing as mattresses. There are(as this outlet told me), special sets just for certain stores, different series and names, different countries(German best, Spain second best, China third) and methods of construction(forged better vs. stamped not as good). I stopped by a Macy’s in the burbs intending to get an advertised set but their display was so off-putting and disorganized that I left in disgust. But mostly why I like this outlet is you can HANDLE the actual knives. When you’re spending $ 200, $ 300, $ 400 and beyond for a lifetime purchase, I find that important. Knives have different tangs or handles, different weights, different bolsters(where you hold the knife between thumb and fingers) and so on. ZJAH has cutting demonstrations all the time. You can handle knives and cut some carrots up. It’s great fun but also instructional. Especially the better knives are just plain amazing. I ended up getting an 8-piece block set(«Twin Profection») of German-made knives with the more modern tapered bolster. They were having a 25% off sale which was nice but I was offered an additional 15% off for signing up for their VIP or some such email program. Sold!
