Wow now I’m even more frustrated with this place(this rarely happens, I like to forget about bad dining experiences) We just checked our credit card statement and found we were charged an additional $ 10 than what we left after tip. What I forgot to mention in my last review is we truly felt like the severs we were dealing with were either under the influence or just completely unaware on how to do their job. The management here should really look into this because I would not be surprised if we were the only ones that have had such an awful experience here.

I used to love this place when they had their extended happy hour until 9:00 with a great selection of food and drink options, now they are just lack luster and over priced. Their happy hour used to be fantastic, great food, great prices. Now they have eliminated about 75% of their previous items and jacked up the prices. Me thinks not. If I wanted to spend $ 80 for two apps and a couple of drinks, then I would have gone to Flemings or another place further east. 219 west needs to stop trying to be something it is not, and that is a classy dining a establishment. Putting lipstick on a pid does not make a difference, and either does a new coat of paint and fancy hipster menus. Will not be going back here again. Lame…

Run away!!! This should be marked as «Closed», but they haven’t changed the name yet. 80% of the menu is gone. It’s one sheet of poorly printed paper now. The website is all wrong now. The new owners have limited the happy hour times and almost erased all the incredible options they used to have. The street-side patio has been gutted. That quirky little fireplace with the sparkle lights going on in it? Gone. Smoking out on the patio? Gone. The table candles on the patio? Yup, also gone. 219 is dead. I’ve turned hundreds onto the place over the years and I’m trying to get the word out before anyone else comes in and gets hit with the disappointment.

Sad that the happy hour specials changed. The menu has changed and there’s no chipotle Mac and cheese. They pulled all my fave cocktails. Time for me to look for another place for a happy hour.

219 West used to be an okay place to grab a decent meal. Total turnaround in the wrong direction. They are currently attempting to stretch their reach at fine dining(not that they ever were) and now have a limited menu that is compiled if really generic dishes. They cover their tables with white paper to appear as a white table cloth and place a candle on it to enhance the vibe. Garbage. From whence they came to where they’re attempting to go is the most abysmal attempt at masking what they are not… Fine dining. Get a clue 219 West, you’re on west 6th street in Austin Texas(an enormous party district) and just shit the bed on your model. Go away. Bring Union Park back you prol

Went their on 05÷06÷15 for dinner. Employees were very friendly. We ordered the steak and beef tenderloin. Both were very good and well cooked. Also had sides of mash potatoes, dirty rice and Mac n cheese. All very good but the mash potatoes were awesome.

Each page of the menu has drink options to match. Our waiter was awesome and very patient with our group of 12. I ordered the Mac and cheese and it had a kick, very good. It started pouring outside while we were eating so our waiter just kept the drinks coming! If you’re wanting to go out on 6th this is the place to start for dinner!

We decided on a night out on W 6th and stumbled upon 219 West. Heather had Tilapia nachos and I had chicken tenders w/fries. Everything tasted good considering we arrived 20 minutes before the kitchen closed. I was a bit afraid the food wouldn’t be tasty because of that, but I was wrong. Seating was plentiful at that time as well(about 10:30). Seems like a nice little date spot and prices are moderate.

Used to be the best happy hour in town… Now it’s no longer worth the walk from our downtown hotels. The Happy Hour that used to go till 9 on Friday and 8 on Saturday now stops at 6:30. While the food and drinks were great the new happy hour hours make this place a no go. We followed them when they moved a few years ago to a less convenient location but now it’s not worth our time as their non happy hour prices on apps and drinks are nothing to write home about. It’s been a nice five or six years with you buh bye.

Came here on Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend. It’s a bit far of a walk for us, probably around 15 minutes, but it was worth it. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The waiter was very nice, greeted us with waters. Their menu is organized a bit strange, it’s pairing based on liquor. So the categories were beer, tequila, etc and each section had appetizers, entrees and desserts that would pair well with that liquor. My boyfriend and I ordered a Austin Collins for a drink, then ordered the Chipotle Mac and Cheese and the pork enchiladas for our entrees. While we waited for our food, our waiter surprised us with two glasses of sparkling wine. I’m not a fan of sparkling wine, but the gesture was nice. The Austin Collins was much much better and would recommend it to anyone who wants a light refreshing drink with a hint of tartness. As for the food, the chipotle Mac and cheese was delicious and ginormous. The portions were huge. It’s technically an appetizer, but it could very well be an entrée. My boyfriend really enjoyed his pork enchiladas. Overall, a very good experience. Good good and service. Austin Collins drink was phenomenal. It was a nice way to spend Valentines in Austin!

I want to like this place. I do. But every time I’ve gone(and I do keep trying), the service seems lacking. Not sure if it’s where we choose to sit– the bar on the main level at the hightop tables– but no one comes to the table. The three times I have gone in, the last being on Vday with a group of 6+ we have to go up the counter to order our drinks. No one comes around with menus to see if we want food or refills. And our table tends to fill up with empty glasses until we have to remove them ourselves. The happy hour and drinks are very good, don’t get me wrong. But I think they could benefit with having a better table service– even in the bar area. We’re more than ready to spend the money, so by all means, come and ask it of us.

I came here for happy hour with some girlfriends and we pretty much loved it. Apparently they just recently changed management, so their happy hour is now 4:30−6:30(which is not what it says on their website currently). Regardless, we still made it for HH so we ordered a round of drinks and tapas. I wasn’t a huge fan of the food, but I’d definitely come back for drinks. Cocktails were only $ 5 and came with the shaker! So basically it was $ 5 for about 3 drinks: D

Loved this place. Tried tilapia nachos, crab cakes, chicken Lettuce wraps. Everything came out perfect. Mexican martini was not too sweet, which is the way we like it. Definitely going back again Ambience is pretty good, not too crowded esp on Friday evening. Half off apps

Went here for a friend’s birthday dinner. It was nice and the food was good! Drinks were also different but really good. The only downside is the service is a little slow, but other than that is place is great.

This place is amazing for happy hour! The menu is huge and the drinks good too. I’ve come here on multiple occasions with groups of 4 or more and sometimes the try to put the 4 of us on a small bar table. But none the less the service was good and were quick at accommodating the large groups. The food. Ummm theres a lot but some of my faves are the crab cakes, beef carpaccio, and chicken Mac and cheese. Most of the dishes are pretty personal sized but the chicken mac has a very generous portion.

I’m such a huge fan of this place, it’s ridiculous. They have an excellent selection of wine and the red and white wine flight is an absolute must! It seems every time I’ve had it, I love all the different wines that are provided and the best part is they are only $ 13!!! 219 West also has one of the best happy hours in Austin. 50% off all American tapas! You have to have the spicy cheese tator tots!!! By far one of the best items on the menu with a definite kick that will leaving you ordering drink after drink. 219 is great for friend or work gatherings. It offers patio seating as well as comfortable dine-in tables. The bar area is also big and allows for easy mingling.

Unfortunately I didn’t discover 219 West until the last year of college at UT. My favorite drink is the pomegranate mojito and I’m an even bigger fan of the food. There hasn’t been any order that I didn’t love — crab cakes, sliders, and the tilapia nachos. The nachos come in a HUGE portion! Check their website or call for happy hour times. It varies depending on the day of the week. This also tends to be one of the only places that has weekend happy hours in the area. We recently came back to Austin and the same sentiments towards this place applies. Similarly, the service is never awesome. I feel that they are rather slow and not the most pleasant so if you come here, make sure you’re not in a rush to get out.

The other day I walked around downtown Austin peering into various restaurants to figure out what I was in the mood for tonight. I came across 219 West, looked at the menu and decided it was a good choice. It might have helped that happy hour was until 9PM so there were drink specials and it was half off apps. Anyway, there are various options for seating take your pick of: outdoor, dining room, high top tables, or the bar. Since I was by myself I headed to the bar. Wednesday night $ 5 select wines — Chardonnay please! The menu is cute in the sense that it is organized by drink and food matches. For example, all foods that would complement a drink with tequila were in one section and all foods that would pair well with a beer were in another section. It also suggested a specific drink within that category. I went against the menus advice and took the advice of the bartender as well as many Unilocalers and ordered the tilapia nachos. I am so glad I did! They were out of this world! There were about 5 large nachos chips each had a strip of tilapia perfectly cooked and seasoned. On top of that were a few black beans, diced tomatoes, napa cabbage, roasted corn and pico de gallo. My only complaint would be that there was a little too much napa cabbage. If there was a little less greens or if there were a little more diced tomatoes, beans and such… but that is me being super picky. I felt a bit like a rabbit nibbling on all that cabbage! Besides that my experience was great! The crowd is relatively young everyone hanging out after work it seemed. I will definitely be recommending this place to others! That is if anyone ever asks me(who will only be here for about two more weeks) for advice on where to eat in Austin!

What we got: Mini Fried Chicken Sliders, Spicy Cheese Tater Tots, Chipotle Mac & Cheese. This place is great if you’re in a big group. Make sure you call advance to reserve a table if you don’t want to wait too long. We typically take our friends here to eat when we start a night out on West 6th street. It’s a great place to eat and grab your first round of drinks before bar hopping. There is a happy hour special everyday so it doesn’t really break your bank if you go before 9pm. Tip: Don’t drink too much after if you get the wine flight. I’ve seen it time and time again where someone in the group gets the wine flight and doesn’t last another hour downtown after leaving 219 West! You’re welcome.

I’m never disappointed when I go here especially if you know what to order. I know most people talk about the chipotle Mac and cheese, but I don’t find it amazing. Everyone should always try the tilapia nachos. It’s big enough to share and it taste great. If you want something unhealthy go for the spicy cheese tater tots, the sauce it comes with is amazing! The Brie isn’t great. Apothecary has a better dish. Drinks: I’m a cocktail type of girl and I really like to take advantage of the 5 dollar martini shakers during happy hour. Try to Rubynesque, elixir, or Georgia peach. The spicy watermelon has a kick to it if you like that sort of thing. Hh is on t-fri 5−9pm I think Tuesday has the best hh Service: I always have the great waiter. Nice to talk to and always giving their opinions on the drinks here
