The outdoor seating by the food truck is really nice and it’s a great place to watch sports. The beer selection isn’t the best and it’s not so great to go on cold days, but the food truck next door is awesome especially the chips and queso!

This place f’ing rocks. Great outdoor patio with an awesome TV setup, and the folks that work here are super nice and friendly — a million times better than Rattle Inn next door, those ppl are straight up rude. Star Bar doesn’t serve food, but they have on of the best food trucks in Austin connected to the back patio(Valentina’s). My fave spot on west 6th.

Came here Sunday for some NFL playoff action with a serious hangover and in need of a drink haha. We were immediately greeted by the bar tender and told the specials which were $ 4 double mimosas and a bloody mary bar! She had me at double mimosas. We ordered those and I was surprised how an entire bottle of champagne was used for our order of three! CHEERS! There is inside seating, outdoor seating and also covered patio seating in the back complete with artificial turf :) There is another bar in the back as well as bathrooms and everywhere here is dog friendly. Drinks were great and very affordable. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Loved their bar T-shirts as well. Will definitely visit again when I’m in town. :)

Cool venue with two outdoor areas(one on sidewalk side and one in back) and a food truck in back. Outdoor heaters, too. Went here with a group of friends on NYE and got in around 11pm with no cover, which we didn’t think we would be able to find on east 6th. Had hats, beads, noise makers, etc.

I usually come here on Sundays to check out the games. The outside patio has been redone recently and it is a definite upgrade! The mimosas and bloody mary bar are a great deal at $ 4 on Sundays and they accommodated the game we wanted to watch even though it wasn’t on the official list posted. The bar also uses Tabbed Out which is an awesome app to pay for drinks(my promo code is W4A5B3) and helps knock down the price of your tab. LOVE bars that use this app!!! The reason I have a star knocked off is that they open AT noon on game day! Open at 11:30 or 11:45 and let us chill and get settled prior to the games starting. Especially when it’s cold outside. Last Sunday was cold and we were wanting to get in to get warmth and the people inside really didn’t care or acknowledge us while we were pacing around outside and looking sad. Once we got inside and on the patio, the heaters were fired up and were a nice relief to the cold.

Basic Austin bar. Nothing too great. Good beer. Kinda pricey. On the corner which makes it super easy to be dropped off and picked up! The waitress that loves to Austin from Katy Texas with her boyfriend.(Forget her name) was super sweet and friendly! Enjoyed her company!

This place is rough, lots of motorcycle gang types and cholos! It really makes me feel right at home! They used to have ghost pepper tequila and would be hilarious to buy ur buddy a shot of hell! I’ve been hitting Star since it was velvet and plush inside before the huge re model. I hear a great bunch of d-bags go on the weekend nights… I wouldn’t know cause I’m there during the week after work if I go. One time Wyatt Erp busted out a six shooter and shot our beers open. Bottom line! Austin sucks and I don’t understand why people keep moving here. Star bar is no fun, Austin has virtually zero entertainment and the chicks are like I’m in Boston. So if your reading this, and are from out of town, make a u turn and head back home!!!

This place is horrible. Horrible service, horrible crowd. I was having drinks with a few of my polite girlfriends and we were rudely interrupted by two douchebag guys that would not leave us alone and were harassing us physically and verbally. We asked to be left alone so we could enjoy our drinks and they refused and ended up saying how stupid and drunk we were and they were obviously heavily intoxicated. The staff, bouncers, refused to make them move or leave us alone, we practically begged the bouncers to make them leave us because we were starting to feel unsafe. The door guys took their sweet time to come over and were too busy talking and flirting with their friends to do their job. The staff needs to be trained better and maybe star bar shouldn’t hire bouncers who are too lazy or don’t care enough to do their job. Bottom line, I didn’t feel safe in that bar.

Go here if you want to snag a table on a Saturday night and don’t expect to hear great music. The bar staff is as attentive as you would expect down here so don’t be too picky. The music when I went was hard to hear and honestly not that interesting. It sounded like some alternative organ music. Prices are acceptable and nothing brutal. Bathrooms are a bit small but relatively clean.

This bar is pretty simple and seems relatively classy but I cannot get past the most miserable bartender, Lydia/Brianna. She is the most miserable person I have ever met. I have never written a Unilocal review and she is so bad that I had to write one. She was rude to me, then rude to my friends and then rude to all others at the bar. Then she turned on her fake charm when she found out that one of our friends had money. It’s not the four seasons, so you might have to deal with some people who are not«up to your level» Lydia/Brianna

So, luckily I’m not rating Star bar on the clientele because the stars would be much less. Seriously though, when did the customer base stop being the suit and tie crowd? I was not notified of this change. Thus, I feel a bit slighted on my visit here Sunday afternoon. Yet, it did provide me with quite a bit of interior sarcastic humor. For that, I thank you. Listen, the bartenders are great. They truly are. The Bloody Mary bar on Sunday for $ 4.00 is practically unbeatable. And I will never turn down free popcorn. I may never go back here again. Basically because I don’t wear cargo shorts, flip flops, or novelty tees. Yet, I will tell everyone, that it is a very friendly place to be served a drink. P. S. If i hear a drunk frat boy sing Margaritaville one more time, I will stab myself in the throat in front of everyone.

My husband and I met at Star Bar in December 2005. As such it will always have a special place in my heart. Star Bar has done a remodel between that time and now. It appears they are starting a second major remodel in the back. I really do like how it used to be and haven’t been a fan of this model. The cement bar, etc. I loved the old wood bar. I am hoping the third remodel will be good. What I love about Star Bar is how it has stuck around. In Austin, bars come and go but Star Bar is always here. The staff is usually very friendly and attentive. We hope they last forever and will continue to stop by from time to time. A good place for a drink.

Not one for traveling anywhere near W6th or E6th I found myself there last pm. The first gob smacking experience was to see how I barely recognized the stretch of W6th. Gone was Katz Deli which I know passed away several years ago, but it changed the scene so much. The original Opals is a construction site and the Original Hoffbrau Steak house looked completely out of place. We met some folks at the Star Bar, which I remember as a quaint little modernish bar. Now it’s a huge bar with all the types of 6th Street folks you would expect to find in this neck of the woods. We entered and immediately was served, even though they were getting busy. Recognized by the bartender to let me know she knew I was there and then when she finished with the one order, she came a took mine. The second trip the gentleman bartender took my order and provided me with a nice pour of Jamison. We headed to the back room after we noticed there was one. This is where we found our friends and the Valentino BBQ Tex Mex trailer. I don’t do trailers, never really have, just a personal choice to be seated and have a dining experience with a waiter. The trailer was providing a number stand system, and food was being ferried out to customers. Albeit, a conversation with one young men mentioned he had be waiting 20 minutes or so to get his order. The back room has expansive tables and TV’s set up for football games. A bit like a frat house style with picnic style plastic tables and chairs. A stark difference from the inside of Star which is nicely appointed. Perhaps they are working at really building out the space since it seems uncompleted and a bit of a mish mash. We hung out for about an hour and enjoyed the Santa Clause pub crawl folks coming in for a drink. We would pop in again if our friends were gathering there, since the attentiveness of the staff and drinks were on point.

Star Bar is a great bar in the West 6th area. It honestly has the best of both worlds when it comes to 6th street. If you wanted to, Star Bar can be your go-to get wasted place. Not too expensive, fun music and atmosphere. The outdoor patio would be a great place to meet new friends and holler at people walking around. On the other hand, if you wanted to just have a chill night, this bar is great too! Indoor seating can be intimate and close, the drinks are well priced, and they also have a back area with big jenga for some fun! Great place to check out in the West 6th region and worth going to!

We went in on Sunday for the Hail Mary — the infamous Bloody Mary that is a meal in a glass. We Googled the best Bloody Mary in Austin and this was rated #1. The Mary was huge! It was a great flavored drink with a lot of fun toppings! The bartender was just the coolest and just him alone makes me want to go back. Be prepared to pay $ 21 for the Mary, but the experience is worth it. Indulge a bit and go for it!

The staff is uncivilized. …in the best ways :) I love Star Bar. It’s my favorite place to cheer on the Packers, throw back some happy hour cocktails, or try a new, delicious craft beer. — GREAT place to catch a game; they have TVs galore. GA-LORE. — Fantastic tap selection. There are about a dozen rotating craft beer taps; they tend to lean towards West Coast breweries and limited edition releases(Stone, Green Flash, etc.) but that’s super refreshing when everywhere else is the same 4 local breweries on tap. The staff knows their sh** when it comes to beer, and will happily provide you a taster of any beer. — The clientele gets a bit bro-y Friday/Saturday nights, but where on 6th between I-35 and Mopac doesn’t? — The staff is the best. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and they make a mean jalapeño margarita. — Valentina’s Tex-Mex BBQ trailer is out back. UNFF. Handmade tortillas rolled fresh to order, smokey n sweet BBQ sauce with a hint of spice, melt-in-your-mouth brisketfoieaw I can’t. It’s so good, it’s not fair.

What happened to Star Bar? It once was a classy place — a little loud, but with some panache. Recently visited on a Thursday evening(happy hour time) and the place was basically a dive bar. Please explain to me the charm of a dive bar! Very very loud, no table service, and very small drinks(Jack and water, because we knew better than to order anything more ambitious.) Sad and disappointing.

Their beer anniversary party on 4⁄16 was a class apart. It was an impressive roster of cellared beers that would make any beer nerd drool. The four roses bourbon barrel aged ten fidy is rare beer to come by and it was there, along with Abyss 2012, BCBS and other rare beers. Please keep going on with the cellar program.

The star bar isn’t bad, really! Came here to watch the FSU vs UF game on a Saturday afternoon b/c this is the place for all Seminoles football game watching parties in Austin. The inside looked modern, bright and pretty laid back. The bar was busy filled with lots of FSU alumni and fans. The staff even dressed in garnet and gold(our school color) and they were nice and attentive. I really wanted to try the Hail Mary but food wasn’t offered that day so I ordered from the Valentina’s food truck which was amazing. I am not a beer drinker so I got the $ 4 make your own Bloody Mary. I was quite satisfied. They had all kinds of ingredients on the table from celery, jalapeño, asparagus to olives. I enjoyed my DIY a great deal. I actually don’t watch football much but I certainly don’t mind coming here again to cheer for my school and get some Bloody Mary from the bar and tasty food from the truck outside! I heard they had free cheese plates on Wednesdays? Hmm, wish I lived here in ATX!

Three stars for not having wine by the glass, but hat’s off for the pricing on your half bottles. Stopped by out of boredom and had a split of a Napa Cab, priced at $ 20. That’s $ 10 for each«large pour» glass, way better than neighboring watering holes and my bartender was fabulous. As an added bonus, she served a complimentary cheese plate from Antonelli’s that was fabulous! I’ll be back.
