This food is legit and the portions are huge. I usually eat quite a bit and I couldn’t eat more than half — which made me so happy knowing that I’d get to eat those leftovers for lunch the next day! And you gotta get the mint limeade!

This is AMAZING Mediterranean food! The prices are great, the portions are generous and the guy who works there is so kind. I got free baklava my first time eating there! I’ve since been back a couple of times and have never been disappointed in what I order. The lentil soup is SO good and the gyro plate is fantastic. The lamb here is delightfully seasoned too. So happy I finally found my Mediterranean go-to in Austin!

Really good food for a great price. I always get the Falafel & Gardenia plate(a vegetarian dish). The nicest man works the food truck by himself. He says he takes phone orders so your food will be ready when you get there, but I always forget to call ahead. I’ve never had to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes.

My loyalty of previously existing Mediterranean restaurants is divided now that Abo Youssef has come to town! Pros: –free mint tea. It’s sweet and perfect for this cold weather! –HUGE portions that can’t be beat by the amazing price of $ 7.99! The plates all come with two sides(usually tabouli and hummus) and bread. –Love the fresh tabouli salad! –Gyro meat is perfect with the yogurt and yellow rice! Yum! –plenty of parking in the back of the neighboring convenient store. Great location where Manor and Dean Keeton meet, East Austin, and within minutes of UT campus. Pros will far outweigh the cons: –there is only the one guy taking orders and cooking the food, so if there is a line, expect to wait a while.

Instant favorite. Attention to small details makes such a difference. One look at the knife work on the diced cucumber lets you know how much care goes in to this food preparation. Simple dishes with relatively few ingredients bring the importance of freshness and seasoning to the fore. Abo Youssef’s hummus is perfect. The dolmas sing. Even the mint lemonade is intoxicating. And the man is beautifully kind. Insisted on discounting lunch by $ 10 when he realized it was our first time. Paid it back in tip, so he snuck four pieces of baklava in to the bag. I don’t write reviews. Unless I desperately want someone deserving to have a huge success.

I first heard about Abo Youssef through an email I got from Unilocal. My brother and I were super excited to try it out. I ordered the Chicken Wrap with french fries. The The price was reasonable and the portions were huge(enough for several meals). My wrap tasted super fresh and was delicious. Although, we waited almost 30 minutes for our orders, it was well worth it!

Absolutely amazing!!! I had the beef and lamb shawarma, and I was impressed with how tender the lamb was. The hummus was pure and savory, but all the flavors in the cucumber salad stole the show. I might just go double said on the plate next

I got the Chicken shawarma plate and a mint lemonade. Overall it was good, but it certainly wasn’t the 5 star amazement the reviews led me to believe. Judging by the amounts of gristly bits in the chicken, I’m guessing it is all thighs, which would be fine if they were just trimmed up a bit better and some of my pieces were a bit dry. The hummus was very smooth, creamy, not too thin or thick and well seasoned, and the warm pita was nice as well. The rice had actual flavor to it and the yogurt sauce atop the chicken was good as well. The salad was almost entirely parsley, which turns out, is not that pleasant to eat like lettuce, and was just not balanced as it needed way less parsley and more tomato and cucumber and a bit of acidity would have been nice too. They really could use a menu posted on the trailer and not hidden under a paper weight on a side table, so you can see what they offer, and as far as ambiance… well, you better like rustic… Like, filthy gas station parking lot frequented by construction trucks on the East side, rustic. The mint lemonade was decent but was basically room temp and what little ice was in it melted before it ever really become cold and refreshing. They do give you a lot of food, so that is a plus. Overall, decent.

Incredible food cooked in a little truck by a man with a big heart. We had the gyro platter and falafel & eggplant platter. Everything was beyond delicious. We were treated to mint lemonade on the house, which was an unexpected surprise. Price was right, portions were generous, food items were fresh and prepared with care. The immediate dining area(not the gas station) of trailer, eating tables, trash can — was neat and very clean. This is the place for me from now on when the Mediterranean craving hits.

Have eaten here for the last two days and am about to go again after I finish writing this review. Seriously some of the best gyro and lamb I have ever had in my life. I can not get enough of this food. On my first day the owner/manager asked if it’s my first time and gave me a delicious complimentary lemon mint drink — very refreshing. Okay, gonna get some lunch there now. Bye.

Delicious food. Try the lemon mint drink. Try the chicken shawarma. Try the mixed grill. The falafel wrap. The gardenia is also yummy. I love everything I’ve had from here. As someone else mentioned, don’t come here if you’re in a rush. He takes his time making sure that he does a good job. The guy(I can’t remember his name) who runs the place is the best. He is friendly and giving and appreciative.

We came here around 5 – 6 last Friday as it was freezing outside. The owner was cleaning up the little seating area and getting ready for dinner. He was very welcoming and we ordered immediately. I got the falafel and gardenera plate and I asked for salad instead of rice– he gave me babaganoush too and was happy to accommodate. My husband got the gyro plate and we sat down to dig in. The falafel was seriously incredible. Piping hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The eggplant and veggies were super garlicky, roasted to perfection, and covered in some amazing sauce. The portion size, huge. Owner, adorable sweet man. Price, incredible. I will be back many many many times. If it’s cold out, call Favor– it’s worth a delivery.

Abo Yousseff has the best Mediterranean food I’ve had in Austin. Note — don’t come here if you’re in a rush, it’s not that kind of place. The owner works by himself and clearly takes pride in his work and his trailer and is not a «fast food» kind of place. Everything we ate was incredible — the chicken schwarma and gyro meet are incredible. The rice was super flavorful and seasoned well. Also, definitely try the mint lemonade. It won’t disappoint. If you’re lucky, the owner might give you some for free.

Amazing food! Best medeterranean food I’ve had outside of the middle east! Everything is fantastic, and the plates are huge. Eat there and say hi to Samir! He’s the best! Don’t park in the convenience store parking spots, park around the side.

I’m having an amazing streak with trailers lately, maybe it’s the weather. Abo Youssef is a vegetarian’s dream, I’m really not sure why I went with chicken schwarma at the last moment. And for $ 8.65, you’ll get enough food for two people or two meals, unless you inhale your entire plate in under four minutes like I dId. I managed to get the hiccups as well. Does it get any more 12-year-old than that? Chef Samir is running a one-man show here, he studies you, and may gift you with a mint lemonade if it’s your first visit. It was the most lemony lemonade I’ve ever had. In fact, all of Abo Youssef’s sides & salads will pop and sparkle with little bursts of mint & citrus, and the meat options almost seem superfluous. The next time we’re here, let’s get all his falafel & hummus, and stuff them in those huge pita-type things he serves. And then we’ll eat them & dance. I believe this is known as, «Oppan Mediterranean Style.»

WOW! I pass this trailer twice a day and was curious when I saw it open. I had seen the Unilocal reviews and heard good things from my neighborhood Facebook group, so I was looking forward to trying it and thought it might be good. I didn’t realize it would be amazing! We stopped by for the first time tonight and tried the chicken and beef schwarma. Both were equally delicious. The sides were so fresh and also delicious. In addition to the delicious meals, we received complimentary lemon mint drinks since it was our first visit. The drinks were AMAZING! They were the perfect drink to go along with the delicious food. I’m so glad this trailer is in the neighborhood! We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent. Amazing. It truly doesn’t get better than this. Abo Youseff(Youseff’s father), Samir, truly works hard to provide the most fresh and tastiest Mediterranean food in town and possibly in the states! Get the falafel, lemonade with mint and you will not be disappointed! I now refuse to eat Arab food from any other place in town.(Okay maybe i am lying, I also like Kismet). Not only is the food extremely fresh and tasty, but it’s authentic! The prices are hard to beat and the service alone will make this a spot for me to come back at least once a week! Thank you Abu Youseff for the excellent food and I look forward to coming back soon :)

It’s a little before lunch and I needed to cool my head so I left work and decided to go in a direction that was .away from work. As I was randomly driving around I found myself on this side of town. Unless it’s east 6th or the streets adjacent to it, I am never in this area so I opened up my Unilocal app to see what’s good. Abo Youssef popped up and there were no hours listed but I decided to drop by anyways. This trailer is right by a gas station and there’s a few parking spots right next to it. The whole place was empty so I parked right away and proceeded to order. The guy took my order of the chicken shawarma plate. He told me in advance it would take a bit longer as he had gyro and beef ready but not chicken. I said I’ll wait and paid. The prices seemed very reasonable. I eat a lot of Mediterranean and«over rice» dishes, and this was less than the competition. Once I got my food, I delved right into it. It came with chicken shawarma in a bed of yellow rice, topped with garlic sauce. Two sides; house salad and tabouli and 2 warm pita-like bread. I didn’t specify what sides I wanted but next time, I think I’ll try the hummus rather than 2 salads. Everything tasted delicious and I especially loved the rice. While this isn’t a NY style«over rice» place(there’s plenty of them in Austin now), this was one of the better rice I’ve had recently and stands up to the completion. The chicken shawarma was great as well although I’m not sure if it was on a vertical/horizontal split. It is a trailer after all but I will ask next time. Portions were generous and just right. It was enough to completely fill me up with no food leftover. Between the time I ordered and finished eating, there was only one other customer. He came out and gave both of us lemon juice on the house. Not only was that very kind of him, but the drink was very refreshing and helped down all that rice I was eating! I spoke to him for a little bit, he just opened up around 3 weeks ago and said its been good so far. I wanted to inquire further but a call for an order came in. He seemed like a very nice man. I will definitely go back and try some of the other items on the menu for sure!
