The experience from beginning to end was miserable and granted we didn’t come at peak hours, but this was just a disappointing experience on all fronts. Music was blaring in my face as I made the order and rather than turn it down(keeping in mind we were the ONLY people around), it was left on and full blast while I struggled to make the order. When the food arrived it was bland and uninteresting; no idea why this is so highly rated.

We always get the fried crawfish basket which always comes with a ton of food for $ 9. You get the fried crawfish on a bed of fresh waffle fries with their sauce(so good) and hush puppies. The hushpuppies can be subbed for corn fritters which are also SO delicious. If you like corn, you need to try it. The price of $ 3 gets you probably 10 – 15 corn fritters(which fill up a little basket of its own). I highly recommend it. You can also order over the phone and just stop by and pick up your order right away.

This place took me by surprise. Didn’t think it was going to be amazing or anything, but it was pretty darn good! The portions are well sized. It was way bigger than I thought it would be. I tried the shrimp poboy, and my boy got the cat fish poboy(blackened). Both tasted very good, and the guy is super nice. He even had Monday Night Football for us to watch as we ate, so he gets a 5 star. Would recommend. Thinking about trying other things on the menu eventually!

Went here yesterday. Had a blackened crawfish po boy. Which was fantastic. Crawfish was tasty and it had a really delicious mustard sauce on the po boy. I also ordered a side of turnip greens with bacon. I wasn’t expecting much with these bit after a tried them, these were the best turnip greens I’ve had in my life. I don’t know what they did with them but hey were fantastic! I will definitely be back here.

Best seafood sandwiches I’ve ever had!!! I had half blackened shrimp and half fried catfish po boy, and a hash puppy for appetizer. I could not believe how light the breading was for the catfish, and the Cajun style sauce was to die for! And all for 13 bucks? I’d go to UT Austin just for this truck.

First stab at a po boy and eh, atx Boudain hut had nothing to brag about. I ordered the catfish po boy blackened and turnip greens with bacon on the side. The turnip greens had minimal bacon and were way too salty. The catfish portion on the po boy was generous, but in the end it was a sandwich not worth raving about. I’m glad I got to try this food truck. It wasn’t terrible, but I would rather spend $ 9 elsewhere next time.

My Shrimp plate from ATX Boudain Hut came with a side of beard today. I found 3 separate hairs in my food and the last one had pretty much cooked into the shrimp. The cooks all had facial hair, so I can only hope that the shampoo their beards… Other than the hair in the food it tasted pretty good, the red beans and rice were pretty bland, but the blackened shrimp was good.

I love you. Great mac & cheese, jalapeño boudin balls were great, and the crawfish basket was tasty. You’re now in my top 5 favorite food trucks. I can’t wait to try your gumbo and étouffée next time!

From SE Texas and a foodie so I can say, this place is as authetic as you can get in Austin. From the crawfish on the weekends to the gator and boudain balls on the the full time menu, you cant go wrong. Dog friendly and always welcoming. Have a great time! Furthermore, to Christina K. With the 1 star review for dogs in the cooking area and a «dog guru» profile with dog photos, get over yourself and your sheltered madness. I take it all those dogs in your profile photo arent allowed in your house, especially when you are cooking because of how unsanitary it is. We eat dirt as kids to better our immune systems so a friendly loving pet is no where near a concern. With as much as Unilocal is important these days it was a crappy move leaving a one star to a place youve never been. Boo.

Gator for dayssssss. Also screw you Christina, that dog is amazing, I’ve watched it grow up and it is an integral part of the ambiance and fun loving feeling of this great establishment.

What i got… Catfish poboy with Mac and cheese I definitely have had better poboys. It tasted like a Big Mac with catfish, but worse. I love to eat and can eat a lot, but for me to not finish my meal the food has to be that gross. The sandwich was poorly constructed as the tiny fish pieces kept falling all out so I was basically eating white bread with sauce and pickles. The Mac and cheese was substandard. I got it for my daughter to eat and for her to pass up Mac and cheese. That’s pretty sad. The only reason we even ate there was bc the ice cream truck near by was closed while on break so we decided to just eat dinner there. I should have picked some where else.

I just Googled«boudain» or «boudain.» This arguement has long been a Texas Vs. Louisiana issue. I digress. ATX Boudain Hut treads into some dicey territory. College students indeed like fried food, but when you are dabbling into spicy, heavily-seasoned grub, with seafood thrown into the mix(i.e. Cajun food), you will be considered a hit-or-miss. Specifically, appealing to the masses will be difficult. As for me, I choose the path of fried seafood, cooked in the fashion of the«Big Easy», accompanied with a lot more fried food – see hush puppies, rounded out with some boudain balls. The hush puppies lend the diner all the gritty, corn-laden flavor desired in a piece of fried dough, while the boudain balls offer more creamy character, what with a good balance of meat and rice. On the whole, this truck does a fine job in offering Cajun grub in an approachable yet refined fashion. Po boys take root, but more sought-after favorites such as boudain are encased inside fried crust.

DISCLAIMER: I am from South Louisiana so I am pretty picky about PoBoys and they were our of the Shrimp and Boudain. My girlfriend who is not from Texas gave this place 4 stars. If Unilocal gave me half stars… I would have given it 2 ½ stars. Being raised in Cajun country, I am very used to poboys, and living in Texas kills that urge. We got the catfish poboy and the hotlink poboy with a side of fried okara. The bread, which is one of the most important things about the poboys, in my opinion wasn’t fresh at all. I thought it was like two or three days old. The hot link was a little over cooked and there was not as much Catfish as I would have liked. I actually will give this place another chance when they have shrimp, but it does not even come close to being Cajun worthy. The guy who worked the truck was really nice, so it pains me to give this review.

So good! I had the blackened shrimp box with hush puppies and fries. The fries were perfectly made and seasoned. I went here twice in two weeks bc I thought it was so good. You get six shrimp, two hush puppies and a lot of fries in the box for $ 8 which I think is a fair food truck price and it was really good!

Had their chicken combos twice, and I’ve been satisfied both times. The food is great, and super affordable. They give you so much food! The chicken was crispy, and the fries were top notch. The owners seemed like nice guys and I will definitely be visiting again in the future.

ATX Boudain Hut is a prime example that good things come from what may have appeared to be an unfortunate circumstance. I walked to the food truck plaza hoping to get late-night pad thai but it was closed. However, now I thought it was a good thing that I couldn’t get pad thai because otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to try this new awesome seafood food truck! This food truck specializes in Cajun seafood, so to be frank, I was a bit skeptical about its quality because even restaurants fall short in delivering satisfying Cajun food experience. That was why I settled with only three oyster Rockefeller($ 1.75 each). The rockfellers were grilled right at the spot so it was a bit of wait. The wait was worth it, because the result was restaurant-grade oyster Rockefeller! For those who don’t know what that is, oyster Rockefeller is baked or grilled oyster topped with cheese, garlic, and spinach(Ugh I’m hungry just thinking about it). Not only were the oysters fresh, the toppings were well-seasoned and complemented the oyster well. I will always be reminiscing this flavorful experience. The menu also offered many seafood poboys, but unfortunately I had to leave Austin and could not try it all. It will be my goal to visit this food truck again when I return, so I highly recommend this food truck if you are looking for good seafood without busting your wallet! — tl;dr version: 1. SOLID Cajun seafood food truck! 2. Terrific oyster Rockefeller that isn’t overpriced!

I go here at least 3 times a week. The owners, Stefan and Wade, are great. They love getting to know their customers. On top of that, they have a tasty and affordable menu. I come here and I’m full off of $ 5. You can’t find that at any other Cajun place.
