According to their Facebook Page as of May 18, 2014 WurstTex is permanently closed. They will be surely missed as they had some of the best brats in Austin. My personal favorite was the vegetarian with truffle fries on the side. I so hate to see them go.

We had the Italian sausage and it was very juicy and flavorful. The french fries were hot off the frier and perfectly fried. For those who like truffle oil, I highly recommend paying a little extra to add the oil. They do just a perfect amount so you’re able to taste it. Im not a huge bratwurst girl but when I get the craving I definitely would go here.

Weiners. This place is all about them. And these guys know their weiners. Happened to be driving by west campus and my heart did a little flutter when I saw the food trucks because I knew I wouldn’t get over to SoCo for the mecca of food trucks. So with the screech of my brakes and a nifty parking spot close by, I ordered the El Wursto — a delicious combo of turkey and chicken with a kick of chillies and tequila. I teamed it up with a side of french fries and a lemonade. The hotdog was really good, but kinda too meaty tasting for my liking. The fries were out of this world tasty — probably my favorite part. I’d go back and try a few more brats on the menu and sit under one of the umbrella shaded tables and enjoy the afternoon roll by.

Wurst Tex has been the Wurst trailer on South Congress for a number of years, and now they are bringing the heat and meat to West Campus, affording the student masses affordable sausages and the like throughout the day, as they wander back from class, all-nighters, and/or downtown. The variety does not range as vast as some of the other sausage joints in town – crazy how this city had no artisan stuffed meat makers a few years back – but it sticks to what it knows. It girds its loins and cranks out a good blend of quality animal product, simplicity, and a couple of bells and whistles; see truffle oil atop fries. $ 7 a pop, for an upgraded, fancy weiner, will run your meal up to $ 12 if you get some fries and a drink, which is not what you expect to pay for a sausage trailer. Fortunately, if you come with a group, you may be able to split a bunch of grub to get the most bang for your buck. Wurst Tex brings a «wurthy» cause to the wildest food truck park in town, and I can imagine that they will only continue to build up their legacy. Thanks for sticking to the fine things in life: sausage, bread(gluten, no less!), chips and/or fries, and cokes.

Finally decided to check out the new west campus location with all the new foodtrucks and ordered the weisswurst. The sausage tasted good with the sesame seed bun and onions and mustard and service was pretty quick. I was happy with my order, but yes food truck food is a little more expensive and I’ve had a few better tasting dogs at other places for around the same price. This place is still worth checkin out and will definitely fulfill your sausage cravings! tl;dr: good meaty sausages to fill your cravings, pricey(food trucks in general), not the wurst but not the best but definitely worth eating still!

Mmmm so good! Ask for cheese on top — I accidentally discovered this since they ran out of onions one night. I’m sad they got rid of Predator & Prey since it was my favorite. The Buckwurst is my go-to now. Same awesome, friendly service as the truck in Soco(which might be relocating soon) and a great location for UT students!

The best one is the venison/pork wurst(called Buckwurst i think) and truffle fries are also awesome. Very fast & great service too.

Sausages, sausages, barely even human… you know… like that song from Pocahontas? «Savages, savages…» …Anyways. New Wurst Tex location open just a few blocks away from the UT campus! Hurray! Bring So-Co to us lazy students! I had the venison and pork sausage from Wurst Tex… so good! A little pricey($ 7+), but that’s what you gotta expect from food trucks, I guess. Good amount of spicy, and the cheddar added a nice cheesy flavor to the already flavorful sausage. I like that there is a sesame bun instead of a normal hot dog bun. Sauerkraut for free, and plenty of condiments for you to add. Ketchup, CURRY ketchup, honey dijon mustard, WHOLEGRAIN dijon mustard(what is that), and some others that I don’t remember. Condiments galore. Go try one, but it won’t be enough to fill you if you eat like an average person. Maybe for lunch, but not for dinner. So now, I will leave to scrounge around my apartment to find some food…
