YUMS. This is the perfect late night food trailer! When I tried it, the line was ridiculously long, but everyone braved it because I’m sure everyone heard of how good it was just as I had. There were only two guys in the truck working so fast and producing hundreds of quality meals. My hat goes off to them for working under such pressure. I tried the chicken nachos. Those things were so large, they could’ve been shared with at least 4 – 6 people. To top it off, they only cost me about $ 8! They had an abundance of freshly cooked chicken on them and were smothered in queso. As a person that believes everything should be smothered in queso, I was truly in heaven. The salsa really topped it all off because you could taste the spice and freshness of it. With such an affordable price, I will definitely be going to Bomb Tacos again.

The best shrimp tacos you’ll ever have!!! Right behind bar 96. Plus they are super friendly and I think fairly priced. Get a drink, order some tacos, watch some sports. Makes for a great afternoon.

I’m not sure how these guys are still in business. Most likely it’s because they are at the top of Rainey and the clientele are naiive, drunk 20-somethings and tourists who don’t know better. The food is so bland and flavorless I was actually taken aback. Al pastor tacos should be bursting with flavors; theirs are boring and about as tasty as the paper napkins they offer. Bistec/Grilled Beef should have a slight char & a lime/onion/cilantro flavor; theirs tasted like NOTHING. It was really strange… I seriously tasted nothing. All of it served on flour tortillas. That right there is going to get you negative points. Flour, seriously? Don’t even get me started on the ‘hot’ salsa. It’s about as hot as what you would serve to someone who just got out of stomach surgery. BO-RING. Just in case you decide to skip the most bland ‘Mexican food’ you will ever eat and order the fried pickles, get ready for a super greasy mouthful of breading. I’m not kidding you, my hands were dripping with fry grease. This has been my 3rd time giving these guys a chance. 3rd time was not the charm in this case and I will not be eating that stuff, ever again.

Walked over to Bar 96 to watch some Monday night football and was still a little hungry. Walked over to Bomb Tacos without even looking at Unilocal(could have been a horrible idea) and looked over their menu for a couple minutes. I decided to stay away from the normal Mexican Austin food trailer with a taco a little out of the ordinary. I decided on the #96 Taco, mainly because it said bacon but it also had a bunch of other fillings. It ended up being a great taco with a ton of stuff inside. For $ 3 it is a massive taco and went great with a nice cold beer. I only ordered the one taco but I would gladly come back just for that. I will have to come back and try some of the other items on the menu.

Most people probably don’t go to bar 96 just for the Bomb Tacos truck. However, I’d remembered many months back having a bite out of someone’s teriyaki taco late one night and throughly enjoying it. Therefore, on this particular Saturday evening, we went to bar 96 only with the intention of eating at Bomb Tacos. It was only 8pm, so the bar wasn’t very crowded yet and there were probably no orders in front of us when we went to go get tacos. I ordered one of the Hawaiian tacos, which has teriyaki sauce, chicken, pineapple, and other goodness. On the menu, it’s not very clear that the Hawaiian taco contains the teriyaki, etc., but it does. I’m sure that’s really confusing for drunk people trying to order late night tacos. Anyway, I also ordered an al pastor. Boyfriend got two tacos as well and it only took us 4 minutes to get our food. Again, there probably wasn’t anyone waiting for their food before us though. The teriyaki taco was good, but had a little too much teriyaki sauce in my opinion. The al pastor taco was fantastic. I have no idea why it was so good, but I’ll definitely just get two of those next time.

It was nearing last call and I had been eyeing the truck that took up the back corner of the outside backyard bar. I kept telling my friends, «Let’s go get a taco,» and kept getting the«yeah, yeah, we will… we ‘re playing jenga and judging people» response. So i went and got a taco. Honestly the taco itself is not super memorable in either a fantastic or disgusting way. It was hot. It was decent sized(not too big or small). It was a taco. And I didn’t wait long at all to receive it. So add a star there. The menu had a decent number of varieties. The best part… i had my taco, and it closed before my friends made it over. Score one. for the girl with her priorities straight.

Currently my favorite taco in Austin. Vegan /veggie tacos here are amazing. Steak tacos are sexy too. They have something for everyone. For a while I was having an internal debate between the taco truck behind White Horse Saloon on east side and the taco truck behind Bar 96 on Rainey… it wasn’t until I discovered this new, very useful tool called«the google», that I realized I was comparing tacos from the same company.

I don’t get the bad reviews. My husbands and the rest of our party really enjoyed the food! We got the veggie quesadilla and taco.yummy.my first bite was full of flavor… no complaints. Would definitely get this again ;)

This place can be pretty hit or miss IMO. Like when it’s good, it’s REALLY good, and when it’s bad it’s just… meh. It’s a really convenient place on Rainey since there aren’t many food options. Their al pastor tacos and chicken quesadillas are fabulous. I also love their queso, though it’s probably completely personal preference because it’s not you know, REAL queso, it’s the velveeta kind, but usually when I’m here I’ve been drinking anyways and it’s a good fix. I’ve also had their BBQ tacos, and a few other random ones, most of the time everything is delicious. Once in a while they seem to have an off day and they come out dry or not as flavorful. Definitely an appropriate Rainey Street trailer, and worth a shot if you’re in the area and want a no fuss meal.

Considering the plethora of amazing late night options in Austin, this could be one stars even. But the guy making my tacos seemed nice and there weren’t a ton of options in this particular part of town for tacos so 2 it is. I had some amazing tacos in a Austin. The tacos here were really not great. I had a bacon and cheese and one migas. The bacon was over cooked, somehow tasteless(that’s got to be a first), and very greasy. Cheese seemed processed and although better than the bacon, wasn’t great either. Migas taco wasn’t very tasty either and just didn’t compare to other migas tacos I had in town. Try the other trucks in this area, or go further if you want a taco.

Great food truck to end our night on Rainey street! I ordered to Migas taco and the steak and was not disappointed at all! I’m obsessed with Migas and wish they had them back home. Eggs, tomato, tortilla, salsa. you really can’t go wrong. The steak taco was extremely flavorful. It was marinated it something delicious and topped with cilantro and onions. The only downside to this truck is that it’s one guy so there can be somewhat of a wait but he does a good job getting orders out. They were also out of a few items too.

Some friends and I stopped by this place looking for some good street tacos after a nice social ride. Kind of skeptical at first because I have been burned at taco trailers before, but this place was surprisingly good! The Campechana taco really is da bomb! Beef fajita, chorizo, queso fresco, and pineapple! You have to try this taco! My friends all loved what they ordered, especially the mini Al Pastor tacos. Pretty cheap, very good service, and da bomb tacos. Will definitely be stopping by again.

Sure, I was drunk when I stumbled upon this little cart. But I swear, this is the closest I’ve had to the tacos I scarfed in Mexico. I had the Campechana Taco, which was this beautiful marriage of a pastor taco with chorizo and avocado. The spinach and mushroom taco was soggy and a bit muddled in flavor, but the other taco erased that fleetingly sad memory from my mind. Stick with the classic meaty tacos(vegetarian Mexican street taco? Definitely one too many cocktails). 10/10, would stumble upon again.

My experience seems to have been drastically different than others! When we first got there no one seemed to be at the food truck so that was a little annoying, but a guy eventually popped up after about 15 minutes from our first knock. We ordered steak tacos, bean & cheese tacos and queso. The queso was excellent, nothing fancy — just the way I like it! My steak tacos were also delish! I was supposed to share with my husband, but they were too good. + Everything was super cheap & fast!

If you are starving your face off after a long day of drinking at Bar 96, this little taco trailer definitely hits the spot! It’s one of the more appetizing taco trailers in Austin, and I absolutely love their Mighty Fish Taco. Doesn’t make you feel super guilty about what else you are putting in your body after you’ve realized you just consumed over 500 calories off a couple cocktails from Bar 96. Another fan favorite is their Al Pastor Mini Taco plate. Absolutely delish. It’s also pretty convenient. You place your order up at the trailer, and then they come find you about 20 minutes later wherever you are in the bar to deliver your order. It would be nice if they could make this a little speedier, but when they are super slammed, I totally get why the wait for your food is pretty long.

There really wasn’t anything pleasant about this food truck at Bar 96. I ordered the Bomb Burrito and Chips and Salsa. The food took about 40 minutes to arrive, and when it did, the burrito’s tortilla was COLD(not room temp, but, cold). Additionally, there wasn’t anything about the fillings that was tasty. The salsa that accompanied the chips was more reminiscent of enchilada sauce than salsa. My friend got tacos and had similar feelings — not good at all. And to top it all off — the food resulted in stomach issues the rest of the afternoon. Convenient? Yes. Fast? No. Tasty? No.

When we are happily buzzed on Rainey Street, Bomb Tacos always seems to come through. The cooks are always pleasant to chat with and our orders are always correct. The black bean and avocado taco is pretty tasty and very filling. I usually order two, but almost always wish I had ordered only one since they are so full. On our most recent visit, my husband ordered the nachos, which were fairly disappointing. The sheer quantity of Nachos was impressive for only $ 5, but it ended up tasting more like a salad than nachos. The chips were drowning in the bottom and covered in queso, which made them get soggy pretty quickly. The jalepeno’s on top were tasty, but the amount of lettuce was insane. Lettuce on nachos is unusual anyway, but when you scoop up a bite with your fork(yes, we ended up needing a fork for these) all we seemed to get was lettuce and melted cheese… not exactly what we were wanting with the Nacho order. Will we eat here again? Sure. Bomb is easy to get to and probably the tastiest Taco truck on Rainey street.

I likely wouldn’t re-order from this place considering the many better taco trucks Austin has(and the fact that I could make a better taco than I had at this place). I ordered a fish taco and was under the impression it would be a fried fish taco(maybe that’s my bad for being presumptuous but it was a reasonable assumption, I think) so I was sad when I received my order and found the fish to be soggy and nearly tasteless. The taco itself had lots of stuff in it so it was filling, and at $ 3 it wasn’t a horrible deal. The fish itself was cooked to done but tasted like nothing. I poured the salsa it came with over it thinking it was just a standard green sauce but it was fiery hot, like the suns of many jalapenos. It overpowered the rest of the taco(and I actually like spicy food) and I spent the rest of my meal chugging water. Again, I just assumed it would be a normal to mildly spicy salsa because that’s what it usually is. Luckily for me, the taco tasted like nothing to begin with, so I don’t think I missed out on much. The service was good and quick, we ordered 3 – 4 for a few people and they came out within 10 minutes. I came in with high expectations for this meal and my poor soggy taco got crushed under them. Then again, is it that hard to make a good fish taco?

There’s was almost no way to screw this up. Six people ordering tacos that would taste delicious even if they weren’t because, well, we were drunk-ish having just come from a going away party. We ordered relatively simple things — tacos, fried pickles, nachos — and sat down to wait. And wait. And wait. 45 minutes later we had our food. Except we didn’t. We were missing items and the orders had been altered in various ways. Given the quality of what we received, it’s surprising that it takes that long. Suffice to say, this particular bomb taco location leaves something to be desired.

I consider myself to be somewhat of a trailer food aficionado, as I typically eat out at trailers a couple times a week. This was, without a doubt, the worst one I’ve been to in Austin. The positives: The guy working there was really friendly, and I didn’t get food poisoning. The negatives: Their fryer was broken(no fried pickles or french fries), they were out of ranch dressing, the seating area is downwind of some seriously smelly outhouses, and my food was bland and lukewarm. There’s plenty of other options for trailer food in Austin. Don’t waste your time and money here.
