I love this place it is one of my must stops when in Austin. The Don Juan is a monster taco big enough to share one taco can easily become 4 tacos so order 2 and some extra tortillas and enjoy. If you are the adventurous type and want to take on a challenge try to see how many Don Juans you eat I think the record is 8. But I can never get past one.

Honestly I don’t get the hype… everyone goes for the Don Juan which is basically a huge plate of egg, cheese, and bacon with tortillas to make breakfast tacos… and I mean I get why someone that loves breakfast tacos would like this, especially because it’s only like five bucks. But still the service is almost terrible, I think the entire tile my friends and I were there we got checked on once. I ordered chips and queso for five dollars and I swear it was such a small bowl of like microwaved queso… I don’t think I’ll ever return.

The coffee is better than the tacos, but the food is good for the money and the experience is awesome. 3 stars for the tacos, I honestly thought the tacos were too hyped up. 5 Stars for the coffee, it was actually really good & cheap /free refills 5 stars for the guac, so fresh and very rich avacado flavor 5 stars for the loud southern hospitality, you get greeted with a death grip hand shake! 3 stars fort the parking, gets filled up quick!

Great disappointment! Unilocalers shame on you! Chicken taco was just lousy: ground or so chicken with lettuce and tomato. Maybe ’cause I’m from California, but I was disappointed. Went near closing time on a weekday and there was no line. No desserts either.

Superb MexiBreakfast joint…100 percent kickass and not a lotta cheddar either. Prices are 1980 – 90 level vs a lotta douchy ATX joints that charge $ 10 for basic strert food. Here, you pay streetfood prices for awesome street food tacos and the like. This is a do NOT miss stop. Line? Yup… took us 10 mins. Yea boy! Salsa made here too and is spicy enuff but not too much

Love love love this place! This is our breakfast/brunch spot every time we come in to Austin. If you’re looking for some good authentic Mexican food– this is the place! I recommend the horchata, the flautas, the taco salad and of course the Don Juan. The lines can be long but the wait isn’t much and the people here are very friendly and attentive. We came with a large group this last time(about 11 people) and the owner greeted us at the door and had our table ready quickly.

One-line summary: They don’t make food this good for this price anymore. I came here with my friend who frequented this place throughout the entire time he went to UT because he kept telling me how great it was. He was correct. Food here is pretty authentic, but I like to judge based on quality/price. In that regard, WOW. I got the chorizo con huevos breakfast plate and ordered 2 extra flour tortillas, per recommendation from my friend. I ate one and was FULL. The other two, he said, would be good for leftovers, or as he did in college, split with a significant other. Did I mention the price for all that food was less than $ 5? Simply amazing. I’m only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because it can get pretty damn crowded with all the UT students coming here. Otherwise, great place!

Juan in a Million is a place you must visit when you are in Austin. This place is ALWAYS packed for brunch so be prepared to wait a while. This place seems small but they have plenty of space inside. They have a large menu but everyone comes for the Don Juan El Taco Grande which is a secret combination of potato, egg, bacon and cheese in a hot tortilla and it’s ONLY $ 4.60. In my opinion one of the Don Juan’s can easily feed two people but it also makes great left over’s.

Wow, these are some bomb-ass tacos. So good! What I had: — Bean & Egg Taco — the beans wear so good! You can def taste the bacon in this. I’m sure they make it with bacon fat, and it is delicious. — Machcado & Egg Taco — so flavorful! So glad they salted it just a little bit. I dunno how to describe it except tasty. — Barbacoa Taco — y’know, I don’t think I’m much of a Barbacoa fan. Tasted meh and a little dry, however my FRIEND said it was the best Barbacoa she’d ever had. — Chorizo & Egg Taco — yummy, generous amount of chorizo mixed in the egg w/o being overwhelming, and it wasn’t really greasy. I would add cheese though, next time. — Migas, Onion, Tomato w/Cheese Taco — Really solid, yummy taco that even tastes good after an hour(took it home and ate it last). I would def recommend grabbing it with the cheese. I feel like it would’ve tasted a little too dry(maybe the corn tortilla themselves were a little too dry/chalky) without the cheese. — Flour Tortillas — I looooved these. They are soft but not too thick. I wanna take them home.

Tried this infamous hotspot for the first time. Came on a Wednesday and it was busy! We didn’t wait long for a table. Owner was nice and inviting! Got the Don Juan taco grande(huge portion) and fajita taco also delicious! Chips and salsa for starters and the salsa is spicy, fresh and amazing! Great place to take out of towners! Huge portions for cheap!

Juan in a million was definitely good, but not the 1 in a million as I’d expected. I finally got to try it after hearing so many positive reviews about the place and I must say, it’s like your typical Tex Mex place. Austin has many great Tex Mex restaurants, so I did not find this place as spectacular as everyone raves about. I got the Huevos Con Queso, over easy eggs smothered with queso with sides of beef, rice, and I got a side«salad»(or pile of lettuce with a few dices of tomato atop). It was delicious for sure, but I wouldn’t rate it as out of this world. My friend got the Don Juan and perhaps that is the way to go. For $ 4, you get a HUGE pile of scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese and a side of tortillas to make your own breakfast tacos. Looks like a good deal, but probably I could make it at home. All in all, the place is cute/divey, food is good, our service was not great; however we were there for brunch on Christmas Eve so I’ll give them a pass on the bad service. Maybe the hype made me too critical, but meh.

This is the best place to go on a Sunday morning after a night of drinking. Best value– my goodness their breakfast tacos are LOADED. You’ll need to double up on the tortillas to hold this thing together. Got the flaship Don Juan and it was perfect! A hidden gem in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Definitely check this place out for breakfast!

Definitely a place to go for local flavor when in Austin. My party of five joined a group of 12 family and friends already there at noon on a Sunday and surprisingly had no trouble getting a table nearby. Despite the line of people there was ample seating in multiple rooms in the restaurant. Food service was super fast. Food was decent, not stellar, but worth a visit for the experience.

This is a cool divey place with great food. I love the fact that they’ve attached a couple of homes together with a large patio cover to create a groovy one-of-a-kind Austintateous Mexi-CAN restaurant. I suggest the beef and chicken fajitas because they are really tasty and cooked to perfection. Chips and hot sauce(great hot sauce too) abound and the service was spot on.

In terms of value, this place isn’t bad… a super filling Don Juan can leave your stomach packed for lunch and pre-packed for dinner. If Don Juan is the only thing you’d get at this restaurant and if you don’t mind the lines, the rating would be higher. But if you want to explore the other aspects of the menu and take into consideration wait times and service, then the rating begins to slip. I ordered the beef fajitas with a side of potatoes today, and the food was good but not swooooon-worthy. The beef was cooked well but didn’t have much flavor. It wasn’t until I mixed it with the refried beans, guacamole, and potatoes in the tortilla that the flavors started kicking in, but honestly, it was pretty yummy. The main reason why Juan gets 3 stars from my ballot is the service and wait time. I came with a party of 15, and it took us around 20 – 30 minutes to get seated even though a) there were many open tables and b) I had told them that the party was willing to split up to expedite the seating process. Ok, so a 20 – 30 minute wait isn’t too bad when your company is A+… but what about waiters charging you for a mistake they made when they took the order? What happened was we ordered 14 Don Juans even though we had 15 people. The waiter, assuming everyone wanted a Don Juan, put down 15. And when we were paying, he and the cashier wouldn’t let us leave until we paid for the unpurchased 15th, even though everyone in our party clearly reiterated his/her order. A restaurant should prioritize customer experience over a measly profit, and Juan In A Million failed to do so today. I’m open to coming back again, but this experience was a let-down for something I’d been looking forward to for a while.

If I had been Unilocaling when I was a college freshman, this would be the easiest 5 to review in my life. Unfortunately, I think for me that the magic is gone from Juan in a Million. Of course the Don Juan is worth it — it’s an absurdly large amount of food for $ 5. I was able to get 4 hefty flour tacos from a single plate, and I could feel my stomach rebelling from the amount of food I put in it. I don’t know if it’s because the potatoes are in big chunks in comparison to the other main ingredients(cheese, eggs, bacon), but it sort of felt like it was mostly a potato and cheese taco with some eggs and bacon. Also, the salsa here is no joke. I’m pretty sure the salsa is blended and not cut by hand because of how watery it is, and it’s ridiculously spicy. I like a tolerable yet spicy heat in certain foods, and this is off the charts bad. It cuts pretty well through the heaviness of the tacos, though. Still, it’s fun to come here and eat one of the most famous dishes in Austin — although I really can’t believe who on earth would eat 8 plates of the Don Juan for funsies. I would rather pay an extra couple of bucks for a better breakfast taco elsewhere, though.

When you see a long line, what are your first thoughts? «Damn I ain’t waiting is this long ass line» OR «I’m so hungry and I drove to too many other places that had long ass lines as well. Might as well stay.» Look, the line may be long but sooooo worth it. Line goes really quick. Make sure you put your name on that list! Otherwise you’d really be waiting. Don Juan is where to go. Cheap. HUGE portion. I made the mistake of getting another small taco. Service is pretty solid. Salsa is spicy.

If you’re a tourist, you come here for the Don Juan. It’s a MASSIVE plate of eggs, potatoes, bacon, cheese and tortillas served piping hot for less than $ 5. Being that I was in Austin for a girls’ weekend, I’d done a lot of reading up on places to eat and this place popped up a couple of lists. Little did we know that the Juan in a Million is located outside of downtown austin(where we were staying) and we decided to walk there. in the Texan heat. Once we arrived, we were told that there would be a 20 or so minute wait. We plopped our tired selves down and no less than five minutes later, our name was called. Juan in a million is much more spread out and bigger than it looks on the outside. Once seated, I decided to go with a cup of coffee — which was not that great — and eagerly awaited my plate. I had no idea the meal was so large. Seriously, two people could eat off of one plate. Every bite is cheesy, carby goodness. My friend asked for avocado with hers and she was served a scoop of guacamole(the guac looked pre-made, not homemade) on top. Definitely come here if you’re looking for hefty portions and cheap prices. just make sure you drive!

UT Class of 2011 here! \m/ If you attend UT, you will undoubtedly hear about the infamous Don Juan at Juan in a Million. The Don Juan taco holds a special place in my heart and stomach. It consists of a generous heaping of potatoes, eggs, cheese, bacon, and a blend of secret seasonings, served on a flour tortilla. When the server asks if you want extra tortillas, say«Yes!» Trust me you’ll need them. Juan in a Million was featured on Man vs. Food several years ago. I’m always skeptical about restaurants that earn fame and glory through TV shows, but the Don Juan definitely delivers. For about $ 5(including extra tortillas), your stomach and wallet will be happy and full all day. I can’t speak to any other item on the menu. Come here for the Don Juan. Period. If you’re lucky enough to see the owner Juan himself, be prepared to receive the most epic handshake you’ll ever have. One of Juan’s many accolades include the Best Restaurateur Handshake in Austin.
