Austin’s only crème brûlée cart! Of course, this San Franciscan sweet tooth found Austin’s sweetest new creation! Yeehaw! While enjoying South by Southwest activities and soaking up the lively Austin vibe on one of my favorite holidays, St. Patrick’s Day, we stumbled upon these wheels on 6th and Jacinto. Initially, I was craving something savory to eat, but changed quickly my mind as soon as I saw this black and white cart. All I could think of was this sweet crème filled concoction, which is one of my all time favorite desserts. We started talking to the cart fellas(sorry I didn’t get a chance to get their names), and found it so refreshing how down to earth and friendly they were, and how proud they were to work the cart. As a Crème brûlée(wannabe) connoisseur, I wanted to try all flavors. Unfortunately, since it was so late, they sold out of flavors, and only had the Chocolate remaining. One of the guys pulled the aluminum container, evenly spread ample amounts of sugar, and then fired up the torch. Within a minute, there was a perfect brûléed top layer. Trust me when I say that it was spoon tapped and approved. The chocolate crème had good consistency, as some can be a bit too liquidy for my liking. It also had a very nice, but not too overpowering chocolate flavor. Prices were reasonable and under 5 dollars. You really can’t beat that as you most definitely get your money’s worth with brûlée brûlée.(Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to take a pic of the lovely crème brûlée, but managed to take a pic of the fellas and the cart). brûlée brûlée is the creation of the the same folks who brought you Vino Vino and Al Fico. Follow them on twitter to find out their daily locations. Austin’s is super lucky to have such an awesome cart. Of course, this will be one of the first places I’ll hit up on my next Austin trip, so I can try more flavors. Go on, y’all go out and git some Crème brûlée! Cheers and happy brûlée(ing)!!
