Best Neapolitan pizza I have ever had! We had the mushroom and the Fresca! Both were amazing! The pizza was crusty and extremely tasty. We had the burrata as appetizer which was great too!

If you decide to come around 7 or 8 pm on a Friday or Saturday, be prepared for at least a 1 hour wait. The burrata is to die for and the pizzas are great.

The bread and butter was amazing. The Margarita pizza was pretty good. Looking forward to trying more of the menu.

Again we find ourselves on a quest to find Austin’s best pizza. This place is often mentioned in the top. It is small with some community style seating. I had been warned that waits can be long and they do not take reservations. Feel bold, I went here over the holiday weekend around 830pm. There was seating available with no wait. The ambiance is hip. It seems one side of the building is finished in a hip contemporary way. The other wall is exposed and not much has been done. I really liked the contrast. Cool urban industrial feel. Enough about the ambiance. Service was good. Wine list was fine. They also have beers on tap and in the bottle. Drink prices were reasonable. Well, at least reasonable by Austin standards. Lets talk about the pizza. I had to try the Margarita which is a measuring stick for all. The crust is Neapolitan style. It was fluffy and good. The sauce was flavorful and appropriately spiced. I was a fan of this one. We also had the mushroom and caramelized onion. This was killer. The onions and mushroom combo was a kickass flavor combo. I was digging this one. I liked this place. It is one of the better wood fire pizza joints in Austin. Maybe not the best I have had, but still worth the visit.

Pretty good but the crust was a bit doughy & apps were overpriced. The pizza was good but nothing out of this world. We split three different pizzas. We spent $ 200 with 4 people and once we paid the waitress, she never came back to offer water. We had to ask for refills twice, she came once on her own and then ran out of water and didn’t refill the last glass at the table. She could have easily gone back to get more water but then just stood at the bar and talked. It kind of tainted our experience. Glad we gave it a try, not sure if we will be back.

Bufalina makes quality Italian style pizzas. I ordered the Margharita and the Prosciutto, Parmigiano & Arugula pizza. They were both flavorful, made with quality ingredients. Even the cold leftover pizza tasted great the next day. I recommend this restaurant.

Great GREAT pizza. Really enjoyed our entrees as well. Everything was super fresh, and there’s something nice about the kitchen staff making the pizzas right in front of you. Feels authentic :) This place is small — so try to get a table. The community tables are very close quarters. Very delicious — we’ll be back!

A friend’s sister recommended this place for authentic pizza. She mentioned the brick oven is from Naples. Everything here was amazing. We got a kumquat lentil salad and burrata for apps. Burrata was not as good as I’ve had, but I liked the earthy element of the carrots. Some things had a Mediterranean flare, like harissa pizza or dukkah in the app. Not sure if that was a menu theme, but I did notice it. Potato chorizo pizza and margherita pizza were both fantastic. I would surely come again. Must try dessert next time.

I stopped into Bufalina on a Thursday night with friends. There’s a small parking lot on the side of the building which is nice. The place was packed and there was still plenty of parking. We did have to wait for a table for 30 minutes but my crew and I got glasses of wine for while we waited. The only thing I didn’t love was that you have to wait outside where there are two benches. If you don’t have a bench, you just have to stand around on the small sidewalk waiting for a table to open. On busy nights with a long wait, this could be a real pain. I wish the place was a little bigger. I did love the service and the extremely friendly manager who went around each table asking about the food and making sure that everyone was well taken care of. Between the four of us, we ended up splitting 1 appetizer(Burrata) and 3 pizzas(Fresca, Calabrese, and Roasted Mushroom). The entire table agreed that the Calabrese was the best of the 3 followed by the Roasted Mushroom. However, nothing we tasted was bad. The intimate setting of this place would be perfect for a date night or a night out with friends. I would definitely go back! Also, this place gets bonus points for handing out the checks in paperback books!(I’m a book nerd. Don’t judge!)

My wife and I love pizza… Like a, we served pizza at our wedding kind of love. And if we had to marry one pizza place in Austin it would be Bufalina hands down. I don’t know that’s it’s really even fair to call it a pizza place, but hey they serve pizza so let’s go with it. The rest of their appetizers are also amazing, but I don’t think you can beat a perfectly constructed classic margherita. We’ve literally eaten two pizzas between the two of us, and then ordered another margherita for dessert. Don’t judge until you’ve tried it. I’d also recommend skipping the third pizza for whatever tart they have on the menu. Always delicious.

Bufalina was voted the BESTPIZZAINAUSTIN last year and it’s easy to see why. With fresh ingredients, cooked in a wood-burning oven you’ll soon see why this place was given the honor. As with anything, there is room for improvement. This is a first-come-first-serve place. They open at 5:30p so get there early or expect to wait. Seating can be a bit awkward depending were you are sat in this small dining room, service can sometimes be hit or miss(we’ve had the waitress forget to give us drinks we ordered). In my opinion, their drinks(beer + wine) are rather expensive for the east side. Nonetheless the pizza is something you’ll come back for time-and-time again. Our favorite is the Calabrese. I’m sure this pizza alone is the reason they were given the honor of being #1. Also, you must try their today’s mozzarella. They change what they pair it with seasonally so ask what they’re pairing it with the day of your visit. We once had it with peaches soaked in a balsamic vinegar and it was to die for!!! My mouth is actually watering right now just thinking about it. Another time is was paired with rosemary and garlic which was just a little too bitter, but the mozzarella is always consistent and delicious.

Good ingredients for such mediocrity. I’m impressed by that. All the lights and vibes all the hype and all the wait for a meh pizza.

I finally got around to trying Bufalina after reading about how it is one of the best pizzas in Austin. We tried the meat plate, cheese plate, and a Fresca pizza. The Good: atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and cozy with an impressive igloo wood fire pizza cooker, ingredients are fresh, overall taste was good. We enjoyed our overall dining experience. The bad: our server was a bit slow to take our order and our wait to get food was a bit long. This is from the time seated to the time the server took our order, to the time he took the order to he time the meat and cheese plates arrived, to the time we finished those and the pizza arrived. Now on to the idea that this is the best pizza in Austin. This is tough to say because it is a classic wood fire pizza as opposed to a New York style or Chicago style pizza so they really each need to be in their own category. I will say the pizza here is really more like a piadini than a pizza and for me personally I would not rate them as the best pizza in Austin, but I’m more of a New York style pizza guy. This pizza can actually be somewhat duplicated at a place like PizzaRev or Blaze.

Wood-fired pizzas are on point. Homemade mozz is fantastic. House pasta is tender and lovely. Wine list is fancy-pants, exciting, delicious and well-priced. Bufalina has a lot going for it, and I imagine if you get to know the tidal shifts of folks coming in and out you can have a great experience here by avoiding their busy time. My partner and I had no such information, so we came during the busy time. It was worth the wait, though(and the glasses of wine on the porch didn’t hurt). The restaurant is small, verging on tiny(hence the wait). It felt very Euro but also very Austin. Servers were professional, if a bit cold, and covered from head to toe in their hipster finest. The crowd was a fascinating mix of families(replete with noisy 5-year olds), young Austin couples, older tourists… a complete mish-mash. I really liked a lot of things about Bufalina, and I will likely return on my next trip to Austin!

They’re opening one on Burnet. I’ll be glad to go there because this place is. so. freakin. small. We got there about 30 minutes after opening and got put on the waitlist. Pizza is fresh, delicious, small, thin, tasty. Not the best mozzarella I’ve had on my pizza, but the burrata that I tried was good. Seems like the appetizers are pretty popular, as we were happy with our choices. We got the pepperoni and the goat. Goat tasted better the next day, doused with chili in hopes of ridding of the goat stench. Goat cheese was good too. Service was prompt and professional. Will return maybe once a year.

I’ve been looking for a neopolitan style pizza place in Austin for a while. Most of the thin crust pizza places are complete trash — Blaze Pizza, Modpizza, etc.(They use machines to make the dough) Here, the dough is hand spun to the round flat shape and there’s a few combinations of toppings you can pick from. It is on the more expensive side at $ 10 – 15 for a personal sized pizza. The prosciutto pizza and the talligio pizza are both very good. This place reminds me a lot of 800 Degrees in SoCal but in a much more intimate environment. There’s almost always bar space to dine alone or with another person. The wait for seats can get long during busy times.

My husband and I rocked up on a chilly Thursday night, a bit late, about 8 o’clock, without a reservation. Turns out we had quite a wait for a table, probably about 40 minutes. But we weren’t in a rush and didn’t mind nursing a beer at the bar while chatting. The space is small, cozy, and comfortable. We shared two appetizers and a pizza. The creamy burata served with grilled, woody mushrooms was my fave. My husband loved the other small pasta dish we ordered — I don’t recall the name of the plate so i’ll call it ‘fancy mac and cheese’. Seriously, the cheese here is to die for. Bufalina is not for the lactose intolerant! The pizza, served fresh out of the wood-fire oven, was great: thin crust, toasty edges, with a generous serve of spicy salami. All of the pizzas coming out of that oven looked delicious. We’ll definitely return. Thanks for a lovely meal!

Today’s Mozzarella with Pickled Peaches. I have not been able to stop thinking about this since we left. This went really well with a cold pint of Zilker Pale Ale. As for the pizza this place nails it with fresh ingredients. We ordered the Calbrese Pizza and the toppings were so fresh. This was a true delight. The crust was perfectly charred but still chewy. We got the meat plate as an appetizer and it was solid as well. If you are stuck choosing between it or the mozzarella go with the mozzarella for a change of pace. Get here early because the space is small and does get packed quickly. Perfect date spot.

I was so excited to finally go to Bufalina. It has been on my bookmarks to try for almost a year or more now. So on Friday night when Tiffany S., said where are we going to eat I mentioned this as my first option and of course she was totally in! When we arrived on Friday night I was surprised at how easy parking was for us, but I could see where it might get tight … you just have to look for street parking. When we walked in I was also surprised how small the place was. It felt like the size of a convenience store. It was definitely nicer though! It was actually pretty hip here I would say. The place was dim and had a romantic intimate feel to it. I put our name in and the waitress said that she just needed to clear off a table and we could be seated. We only waited like 3 minutes … on a Friday evening … I was expecting a wait on a friday evening. I loved the atmosphere here. Everything was simple minimalist and functional, which makes sense for such a small place. The huge wood fire oven was way cool. I loved the big wood bench tables in the middle of the place too. I counted the seats from my table and they could seat about 38 people in the whole restaurant, which seems efficient for such a small place. I started with a glass of rose and Tiffany S had a glass of red wine. The wine menu here was pretty extensive especially on the reds. We then ordered to of the pizzas — the Napoletano and the Fresca. The Napoletano was delivered first. It was red sauce based with crumbled sausage and olives basically. It was very good. The Fresca pizza arrived second and it was basically like a salad on top of pizza dough. It had a lemon flavor and cheese on the crust and then all the salad mixing on top. It was different and creative. It was refreshing, which I think is what they might have been trying to achieve. It was hard to say I had a favorite of the two since they were so different. The crust on each of them was thin and cooked perfectly. I think the two pizzas for the 2 of us was a good choice. 1 would not have been enough. If you are looking for regular pepperoni pizza then I don’t think this is the place for that in my opinion. If you are looking for a nice place to take a date or a few people and want something a little more creative and fun with your pizza this is the perfect place for that!

I had been wanting to try Bufalina for a while. It was good, but is definitely no Pieous(on many levels). My friends and I went with the margherita and fresca pizzas along with an order of parmesan, figs and prosciutto. Each pizza was ok, but not very flavorful. I never thought I’d utter the words«too much cheese», but you know what, the fresca had too much cheese. We all agreed. The abundant amount of parmesan on a pizza that basically had no sauce made it way too dry on your palate. Service was good, the space is nice and open and you do get the sense that they care about what they provide here. I just felt nothing had enough of an impact of flavor to bring be back. Everything was just a-ok, thus 3 stars.
