A happy turn of events… My dinner plans got cancelled last minute so I was trying to decide what my dinner plans would be after visiting Cuvee Coffee Bar. I had noticed Burn Pizza + Bar on my way over so I quickly check out the menu on Unilocal.I was excited about to read that the dough is fermented and that the pizza is Roman style! It was after 8 but I decided to go for it and I wasn’t disappointed! I was seated at the bar overlooking the kitchen. I’m glad I asked the server’s opinion on the menu. She suggested the Paper Plane cocktail and it was amazing! My first dish was a cup of their Zuppa Della Nonna. It’s a rich soup, full of flavor. Next, I tried the Clive pizza. The peppery flavor of the arugula paired well with the spiciness of the Nduja. I also tried the Lustre Pearl with an egg on top(my server’s suggestion). The egg just adds a creaminess to the pizza that was to die for! I took the leftovers home to my roomie and finished the night with the Birra-Mi-Su. I’m a huge fan of tiramisu so I was wondering how this dessert would taste with the ladyfingers soaked in a double brown stout instead of espresso. It was a bold move but I feel like it paid off! It made me slow down to savor the complexity of the flavors! Since I was by myself, I enjoyed sitting near the kitchen so I could ask questions about the dishes I was enjoying. The ambiance was nice. It would be a great place to bring a date or impress your co-workers. The noise wasn’t too loud and the music was a mix of oldies and new artist I like. Just know what you’re getting! Italian style pizza is very different from what you usually expect from an American pizzeria. Yes, the crust is thing and it’s burnt in places. That’s part of the name! Everything I had tasted fresh and you could tell a lot of thought had been put into the concept of each dish. Simplicity at it’s finest! Overall, I had a wonderful evening getting to know this new gem in East side!

AMAZING! Hands down the best pizza in Austin. And the soup is killer! Recently they started opening for lunch on Thursday and Friday and offer affordable lunch options for a gal on a budget. I am also loving the new front patio! This has become a great little spot for me to bring my laptop and get some work done while enjoying a delicious pie. Great addition to the area.

Went and checked this place out yesterday for Happy Hour. Pizzas are 25% off during HH and beer was $ 1 off. Since the beer was $ 3, I was thinking«what a deal!» And it is a deal, but you don’t get the pint of beer I was expecting. Small glass, so maybe half a pint. We started with the fried artichokes since I’d seen so many people post about them. Delicious… light and flaky and the lemon aioli to dip them in. Not sure it’s worth $ 7, as it’s a small portion, but it was tasty. We ordered 2 of the large pizzas, The Devil and the Clive. The crust is super thin and crunchy and both were good. The toppings are sparse so these weren’t really filling pizzas, but that’s the design. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re crazy hungry, but for HH it was good for my group to graze on. We sat on the patio but the seal eventually gets broken by all that beer so I did go inside a few times… the space is inviting and open. The bathrooms smell like rotten eggs, the waitress said it’s the plumbing there. Reminded me of how the White Horse smelled when they first opened a few years ago. Hopefully it won’t take Burn as long to figure out how to rid themselves of the stench. The service was great also, rarely had to wait more than a few minutes for refills, which is as important as the food. One other thing to note, the table tops are glass and my friend cut her finger along the edge of it. When she mentioned it to the waitress, the waitress noticed that the glass was upside down, only beveled on one side so that’s why my friend cut herself. I probably would have promptly informed the manager or something, but the waitress only offered her a band aid. I’m not going to daydream about this place or anything, but I will probably return for Happy Hour occasionally.

We just had a cozy SEVEN community event(organized by Anna Pearl Woolston) at Burn Pizza! The drinks were delightful, the pizza was like being in Italy(think crisp artisan crust light on the yeast) and the service was warm, friendly and welcoming, especially Molly, Stephen and the delightful young woman who followed me all over the establishment to place my drink in hand(that skinny Margarita was PERFECT btw). Can’t wait to come back for more. xo, e

I, along with others, will make the bold statement that this is the BEST pizza in Austin. It’s Roman style. Thin, crispy, not heavy or doughy. Perfect amount of toppings. I’m salivating thinking about it. Our party(of 4) got 3 pizzas, right at the end of their(Daily!) happy hour, so we got 25% off each one — awesome. My favorite was by far the Clive. Truffle oil and Njuda. Doesn’t get any more outstanding than that combination. I will definitely be back. This might be my new happy hour spot, because who doesn’t love great pizza and cocktails all of the time???

I thought the food was fine. The crust is super thin almost like a cracker but soggy in the middle. My buddies lasagna was burnt to black on top. Nothing spectacular but I would consider going back if it wasn’t for the painfully slow delivery of our food. It took 2.5 hours once seated for 6 of us to eat and pay. Unfriendly over worked staff. Might of been a bad night but I expected better based on other reviews. We were asked 3 times is «is there anything else we can get you?» Yes, our food…

This place has been on our radar since it opened recently. Now I gotta be honest, I’m not a thin pizza kinda soul… None the less, karma led me here and although I’m not blown away, I’m not regretful. We came on a Sunday evening and the place was packed! We found a place at the back bar area, RIGHT in front of the kitchen. If I were capable of going back in time, along with bringing more hand sanitizer, I’d make sure we didn’t sit there again. This is no fault of the cooks, but the constant banging of dishes, smoke from the oven, and irritated facial expressions from them is something I can do without. Perhaps, burn should offer a discounted price to customers who sit there… Anyways, there was literally a 45 minute wait for pizza, so we ordered our ‘fettucine’ pizza first and an appetizer of ‘mozzarella in carrozza’ to snack on while we waited. The app was great: toasted, hot and flavorful. The jalepeno ranch to dip it in added a nice touch. The pizza was decent. Not surprisingly the toppings were all minimal, as was everything on the pizza. It had a good sweet flavor profile, but some of the edges were completely burned(black). The venue is clean as are the restrooms. They have an outside seating area and a private lot to park in.

Had been wanting to come here for a while after randomly stumbling across it on Unilocal.I went with one other person and we wanted to take advantage of their HH which is a really good deal, 25% off pizzas. The cocktails are cheap by Austin standard’s and during HH they are all $ 6 each. We got the fried artichokes for appetizers, super tasty. We then got 2 pizzas to take advantage of HH. the Clive and The Lustre’s. We also shared the one salad option they have on the menu. It was a really good salad though. Enough for 2 people. As other’s have stated, the pizza is super-duper thin, nice and crispy, the pizza dough was not too soft but not too burnt. Very light. Once pizza alone would be enough for 2 people, but I think it’s worth it to try out two different kinds, especially if you go during HH. For dessert we got the Bira Mi Su, a very tasty take on the more traditional tiramisu. As for everything else, a few negatives. First off, the dinning area we sat at, was a little too dark. Had to use our iPhone flashlights to read the menus. Also, it took a good 5 minutes or so before a waiter came to us. For the waiter we had, it was his first night working here, so I’ll cut them some slack. There was a floor manager going about checking tables, who was more attentive than all the other waiters, so we were able to order things from him. He was very nice. Overall it was a good meal. We were there early of course, when we left a little after 7:30 the whole place was only ¾ full, on a Friday night. The menu is smaller compared to other pizza/Italian places in Austin. Only 4 apps, 6 pizza choices, 3 pastas, 3 entrees. So if you are the type who likes to have a gazillion menu choices when you eat Italian food, this may not be for you. But I’ll say it right now, I had better pizza here then I did at Buffalina. Yeah that’s right, I said it. The one time I went to the over-hyped Buffalina, the pizza was too soggy and undercooked, yet everyone still raves about it being the best pizza in Austin. We drove past it after leaving Burn and there was a massive crowd waiting outside to get in. Yet I have a feeling Burn will start to get more popular in time. One more thing, We parked on the street, but when we walked up to the restaurant we noticed they have their own little parking lot off to the side of the restaurant and felt stupid for not seeing it earlier. What was more annoying was that the stupid parking meter machine malfunctioned on us and printed us a $ 5 parking ticket. That part of East 6th is still so dark and sketchy, we didn’t even see the place at first when we were driving up to it, but yeah, you might get lucky and find parking in their own little lot.

It’s a really good feeling when you just walk into a place without doing in type of prior research, and having it be amazing. Ok, pizza. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, pizza, to me, is complete personal preference. I like thin, crispy pizza. Some people like thin, floppy pizza. Others like deep dish or thicker pizza. You get the drift. Burn has super thin, crispy pizza and it was probably the best pizza I’ve had in Austin. I know, I know, SUPERSTRONGSTATEMENTJESSICA — but seriously, amazing. We just went to Italy in October, so obviously I am now a huge Italian food snob — the pizza is legit. But omg you guys, if you don’t like thin/crispy pizza, you probably won’t like it. And you and I probably would get into a serious pizza debate but whatevs. To each their own. PASTA — I love homemade pasta. I’ve tried making it at home, and it’s time consuming, and I have no Italian genes in me what-so-ever… so when I go out and get really good, homemade pasta, it’s a big deal to me. The pappardelle was delicious. So good. So perfect. My husband and I were so happy. Bonus points: the pizza was 25% off because it was happy hour, which they have every day of the week. Every day! Including Sundays! Also we raved about the food so much to the bartender(we sat at the bar) that he sent out the chef, and he was a super nice, cool dude and was very welcoming. Oh yeah, and THEN we had dessert: the birra-mi-su It was the perfect ending to a perfect dinner. My husband and I can’t wait to go back.

First off I do not like to come to Unilocal and«bash» an eating establishment. but tonights visit was riddled with problems. here goes: after being seated took about 10 min to get a waitress over. she apologized for the wait, stating they were very busy and that they could only make 4 pizzas at a time. that being said, I had to ask for my tea to be refilled each time. For it being so behind on making the pies one would imagine they could at least keep your drink orders filled without having to ask each time. the manager(?) came over and told us we would receive a free artichoke app as to make up for the wait. That was a nice touch since everyone in the place was waiting a very long time. Nice gesture — but an empty one. The app never came. However after our pizzas came we mentioned that to him and they were brought out.(very greasy) I do like thin crust but this is more likened to paper thin cracker. Everything seems to be rationed here… portion wise. I ordered a salad and it was brought out with all the salad pushed to one side. literally. half the plate was salad, half the plate was dressing. I would rather have a full plate of salad if im paying $ 9. The menu itself is very small and not very imaginative. I ended up just ordering a pepp pizza. When it was brought out they announced«margherita with salami» I said, «Oh I ordered pepperoni» he said«same thing» sigh. that kinds sums up everything. Overpriced. slow service. I don’t see this place sticking around if it doesn’t make some menu and service changes. With all the excellent choices around the hood in food trucks even you gotta bring more to the table than«same thing»

On a slow Saturday night, my wife and I wandered out of the house in search of some overly-creamed pasta… perhaps some new-age Fettuccine Alfredo in East Austin. As of late, 10 new Italian/pizza institutions have set up shop in Austin proper… I don’t think the exodus took place from any specific place, aside from the fact that Austin has increased supply… not necessarily demand. I find it humorous that certain types of cuisine go where there is already a saturated market; do they really check with the population if there exists a «need»? I digress. Burn comes on the tail end of a massive influx of craft pizza joints, and ride the movements coattails it has not. Chef Tim, by way of a 10-year stint in Rome, boasts the most bells and whistles of any non-pompous restaurant in Austin. Yet, none of the ingredients are frou-frou. For example: my wife and I were sold on the Umbrian-style fried chicken. Yes… Italians eat fried chicken – every gastronome’s dream. The kitchen brines, sous-vide, and covers the meat in 40 house-grown herbs: all in a 6-day process. And we bore the fruits of Burn’s labor. The cracker-thin pizza itself sits atop a light dusting of cornmeal, with a slightly burned crust. Toppings run the normal gamut, with olives, prosciutto, and housemade mozzarella rounding out all things round. Oh, and we got a bit of pasta thrown at us. Our experimental dish boasted dehydrated olive powder, mushrooms, and sausage. One go around of a pasta ball for them requires 84 local egg yolks. Yes, 7 dozen eggs. To boot, house pickled jalapenos and garlic/onion flower ranch were no joke. Further, the kitchen staff provides an awesome dining experience and talk your ear off, in the most warm way possible. On the deeper East side of 6th, Burn serves both local clientele and new faces with grit and excellence.

I can’t comment on the food as I was drawn in by the $ 2 beer happy hour. There aren’t a ton of beers on tap, but for $ 2 on an 8 oz pour, I wasn’t feeling choosey. Our bartender was really great to talk to as well. He let us know how they were tinkering with some items on the menu to appeal to the vegetarians out there. I’m definitely going to come back and try the food and maybe slip in some drinks as well.

While I prefer thin crust pizza not many places that do it actually do it well. Burn Pizza + Bar knows how to do it right! I stopped in for a friend’s celebration on a Sunday night and pleasantly surprised by this new east Austin restaurant. The parking lot was full but I quickly found nearby street parking which is free on Sundays. I had no idea this place was so close to one of the best Austin bars, Whisler’s. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side but they make great use of the space without crowding tables together. The restaurant is dimly lit and felt perfect for happy hour after work, a casual gathering or low key date night. They have a full bar with lots of creative cocktails, decent wine(I enjoyed their Pinot Noir) and craft brews. Their specialty is roman-style pizza which is super thin with burned edges. I tried the Lustre’s topped with fresh ingredients of chicory, olives, chiles and perfectly melted mozzarella cheese. This style of pizza feels so light allowing for the flavors of the quality ingredients to shine through. The chef brought my friend out another dish that appeared to be salami, olives and some other goodies that looked wonderful. The patio is dog friendly and they have water bowls out for the pups.

Let me just say my version of heaven would be if I could eat pizza every day and not gain weight. I love pizza! And my friends, everyone needs to try burn pizza. It’s actually a big space on the eastside. No lights outside really so first drive by I missed it, small sign. New restaurant, but staff already has it down. Our waiter was so nice, we over tipped him. It’s a small little pizza bar, I saw a few tables of big groups there so looks like it will be a popular hangout spot. Oh and get this! They’re on the east side and they have a parking lot! Now for the food: amazing. We ordered the fried artichoke app and it was so beautiful we didn’t want to eat it. But don’t worry we took a million Instagram pictures to remember how beautiful this combination of fried food and artichoke was. It not only looked beautiful, but tastes amazing too! The pizza is awesome. I Started off with just the Margherita to test it out and my friend got the Clive. I don’t like heavy charcoal taste but this pizza was a thin crust burnt to the crust but didn’t taste charcoally at all. It must be magic because I don’t know how they make it so perfectly! But seriously, I’ve been telling all my friends about this place because I don’t want them to go out of business! Come stop in and you’ll leave full and happy– I promise!

After having a great first experience here, I was looking forward to paying them another visit. I brought my dad here after singing their praises. Unfortunately, while it was still good and a solid 3 stars, it was inconsistent with the first time. The Fried Artichokes were still good and the Arincini(which we did not try before) had a mix of ok bites with some tasty bites. Then came The Clive pizza which looked like a shadow of what we got the first time. It was noticeably thinner with less toppings across the board, especially the cheese and arugula. The flavor was good, but it just wasn’t as good. I wish I had taken a picture of it as one would clearly see the difference from the photo I posted with my previous review. Consistency is hugely important and for me, it makes or breaks a place. We also got The 96er pizza which was pretty good and one of my friends got the Beef Cheeks dish. I tasted it and I have to say I would come back here for that and that alone. Overall, I still like the place, but I can no longer vouch for their pizza. In fact, I can’t even say I would even come back for it. That beef cheeks dish though…

Charmaine just happened upon this place trying to get out of after work traffic. It had 2 things going for it from the get-go: appealing exterior and a PARKINGLOT! But wait, it gets better. Everyone we encountered was warm and welcoming and it immediately put us in a happy mood. We ordered the fried artichokes as an appetizer and they were delectable. We both decided to order the same people because the description was absolutely too good to pass up and we both wanted left-overs. I’m so happy to say we made an excellent choice. The Clive pizza was so good. I loved the thin and light crispiness of the crust. We both look forward to our next visit. Good luck to the Burn Pizza family.

Great new spot on E. 6TH Street. I am a fan of thin crust pizza and this place here has just that! Made to perfection. A little on the toasted side which I really enjoy. I ordered the 96er which came with broccoli. It was really good. However, my friend ordered The Clive pizza and I must say that was incredible. Between the pepperiness of the arugula and the generous portion of mozzarella, it made every bite just right :) They have a bar and a good selection of drinks. The staff was as friendly as they get. Prices are fair. This is definitely a place I will revisit next time im downtown!

I love a good pizza place. And a place that specializes in thin crust pizza? I’m sold! I went with a group of 6 and we all ordered different pizzas so we could try them all. The majority of the table agreed that The Clive was the best! Truffle oil, mozzarella, and arugula… So good! Also, I ordered it with sausage because why not? We tried several of the cocktails and the consensus was that the Tipsy Golfer is the way to go. The fried artichoke appetizers were also great! There’s happy hour daily from 5−7pm including 25% off pizzas! There’s also a small parking lot which is a huge plus. The staff was great and we met one of the managers(Hey Bryce!) who was so friendly. There’s plenty of indoor seating, a huge bar, and a small outdoor area in the front. Such a great addition to East Austin. I’ll definitely be back!

The pizza is a tad greasy but it’s really good. Come for happy hour(ends at 7PM, I believe) and get 25% off your pizza. Given how big the pizzas are, that’s a really great deal! A pizza can easily feed two people. Even in Austin where the pizza game is strong(Homeslice, Bufalina, etc.), I think Burn is a worthy competitor to them without the long lines and wait time… yet. They call it roman style, but the pizza is essentially thin crust that’s heavier on the cheese. So good. I’m digging the chill bar environment and the super welcoming staff too. Thanks, Burn! P. S. I managed to snap a pic of the appetizer but not the pizza… oops.

Thank the lord for Burn because I was wearing out my E. 6th walking spots. Ridiculously good food, great cocktails, amazing staff — 10⁄10 would eat here ALLTHETIME(and it’s already happening! :D). This place is owned by Miss Bridget Dunlap, of Lustre Pearl, Mettle, etc. fame. The layout is very casual and inviting and the staff greets everyone at the door, soon as you walk in. They have a few outside tables and a rather sizable interior. I recommend sitting at the bar(like I would say anywhere else) and conversing with the highly personable staff. You may even recognize a few of them from other bars around town. So far we’ve tried the margherita pizza, carbonara, canneloni, and aranci and it is all exceptionally delicious. The happy hour is great as well: 25% off of pizzas and $ 2 off of cocktails. I say come check this place out. Fantastic addition to the already awesome east side!
