well this is nuts! I should have looked at Michael’s review. I had NOIDEA this place closed and even drove there tonight. Can they take their signs down please? I always like the Thursday night special. I liked the bar and the staff. I actually have some really funny memories there. It is a bummer that the place is shut down! BOOOO!

JUSTFYI — This place is now closed. I intended to eat another gyro here and have a drink at lunch today. The gyro was decent when I ate there a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, both their wings and rings sucked pretty hard. Not surprised they have shuttered their doors! I am taking bets on the next to go in Southpark Meadows. Maybe Chi Chinese Buffet or Mama Fu’s?

OK… so I don’t have these unrealistic expectations of what a wings place should be — I know it’s not 5 star dining nor am I expecting that… so hear goes, this is really more like 2 and a half stars, but I will give 3 for the benefit of the doubt… I was pleasantly suprised by the service, we went in on a Saturday afternoon sans kids. All the staff we encountered were super firendly and nice. The mister and I each had a dinner salad and ordered our own order of wings. The salad was a pretty good sized portion for a side salad and my wings were pretty decent — I got the Teriyaki. They do have video games at the tables, that was pretty entertaining — though I felt like I needed to keep a bottle of hand sanitizer on the table, but other than that — it was interesting, I mean it’s not VEGAS but hey, we’re in a restaurant to eat wings. I did need to stop in and use the restroom on they way out, ummm… yeah…they need to redo those, very run down for a place with pretty recent construction. Just sayin’

This place sucks. Went for lunch with a couple friends and it was horrible. I ordered their wing lunch special(which was pretty expensive imo) and when our food finally arrived, the wings were bland and small. The onion rings I got with my order were also measly and I literally only had FIVE. It was pretty hilarious actually to see just five onion rings in my basket. Ridiculous. Our server was an idiot and kept forgetting to come back when we asked for things. We had to go to steak and shake nearby just to satiate our hunger after eating this«lunch.» I’ll never go back here. It’s pluckers for me!

I don’t know what happened to this place, but it’s gone downhill. I don’t know if they have a hostess anymore as the last few times I’ve gone, there’s been a sign that says«take a menu and seat yourself.» Usually I don’t mind, but when I’m watching a football game and there’s a family of six wondering around the big screen trying to figure out where to sit, then I mind. Seriously. Big family, kids running around the tables, said family finally settled at a table — outside — after walking around main area for 10 minutes. This is why a hostess is needed. Went there last night to catch the last half of the Cowboys pre-season game. Tons of tables were dirty(and remained that way the entire time we were there), and we had to wait for someone to come clear off the table we wanted. Fine, whatever. It’s football season and large of groups probably came in first the first half of the game, so I can let this kind of slide. BUT — I can’t handle any kind of hot/spicy food. I know, I should turn in my Hispanic card right now, but I just can’t handle anything with even the slightest kick. This is why I ALWAYS order their wings mild because they come in a butter sauce. I ordered my mild wings, the BF ordered his medium. The wings came out and I noticed that they looked different. Okay, maybe they changed their sauce. Ate a couple of wings, and a few minutes later started to feel a tingle in my lips. Not good. Out of 10 wings, I ate 3. The waitress brought the ticket and I noticed she reversed our wing order — made mine medium, made the BF’s mild. The BF told the waitress, and she kind of had a blank stare, along with an «uh.okay…uh…sorry?» The manager came over and the BF explained the situation. He said«well, if you would have told us something earlier we could have fixed it, but once you eat the food, we can’t do anything about it.» Which begs the question — how the hell am I supposed to know if my food doesn’t taste right unless I eat at least a small portion of it? I didn’t eat 70% of my food. The manager gave us a couple of coupons, but I don’t know if I’ll go back anytime soon. Also, we ordered a large side of fries with seasoning on them. Fries came out — no seasoning. Told the waitress, and she said she’d fix it. She brought the fries back — imagine putting a teeny, tiny pinch of salt over an extra large pizza — basically, that’s how much«seasoning» we got. This same thing has happened the last two times we’ve gone. This place really was my favorite hang out for a long time, but I’m just not feeling it anymore.

This was the first place I ate at when I came to Texas. Why didn’t we eat somewhere in San Antonio? Because we were staying in New Braunfels and the name caught my eye. In San Diego we have the famous Wings N Things and that’s what I thought my mom said as we passed by. After a double take, we realized it said«Rings» and the correct name was«Buffalo Wings & Rings» We drove up and down the street trying to find somewhere to eat but everything looked a little scary and dead. It was only 8 o’clock and the streets were empty which is a sight we’re not used to. We settled on this place because it was the brightest and there were a bunch of cars outside. Mind you, I was a bit skeptical eating here because… well… It’s Texas =]. We weren’t in the modern side of town, more like the crazy country folk where everyone knows everyone side of town. It’s comparable to a very small and ugly Santee. Anyways we decided to eat here because it seemed more appealing than Rudy’s across the street. Somehow a gas station and food doesn’t sound tasty. It was Tuesday night and it wasn’t crowded which was fine considering I was cranky from the flight and starving. I think the name of our server was Elizabeth? I’m not too sure but she was really nice and helpful. She informed us about the specials and some fun local things to do around town. She also suggested that our chicken tenders be drenched with garlic Parmesan, I should have given her a high five for the recommendation. The chicken tenders were sooooo yummy and tasted exactly like the tenders from Hooters… only better! My mom had a craving for soup and the choices were chili or chicken noodle soup. Since I’d mostly likely be eating the soup I suggested we get the chili for two reasons; #1 I hate chicken noodle soup and #2 I thought Texas was known for chili. The server then raved about the chicken noodle soup and told the story about how her boyfriend loves it and it was enough to convince my mom to get it. The server was 100% sure I’d like it and I must admit… I really did. Coming here was a good way to start off my Texas trip. The food was good and our server made it even better. The only downer was the lemon pepper buffalo wings we had, it was a little to strong for me. It tasted like lemon zest rather than the juice. Other than that everything was great! I really hope Elizabeth was her name because she deserves all the recognition and gratitude from this happy California girl.

Lately I’ve been on this buffalo chicken kick, so I decided to go try Buffalo Wings & Rings in South Park Meadows. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, because I’ve never been to a Buffalo Wings & Rings. If I had to sum up my experience in one word, it would be: Meh. Just meh. I will say that it was a little more than I wanted to spend on lunch, but the portions are pretty large. I ordered five chicken tenders and could only finish three. They were seriously like half a chicken breast. They could have used a little more sauce, but that’s okay. I feel the same way about the ranch, they never give you enough, but the way I feel about ranch is probably the way everyone else feels about ketchup. The other thing I like, is the breading. It wasn’t heavy at all. It wasn’t overbearing compared to other wing places. The sauces were pretty good. I ordered three original hot and two crazy hot. Their original sauce is your basic buffalo sauce, nothing unique or special. The crazy on the other hand is crazy! But not like bad crazy. It’s a combination of their original sauce, their BBQ and their garlic something. I honestly can’t remember because the girl taking my order had me at «our original hot mixed with our BBQ, mixed with…» Also… they have curly fries. That is one of the reasons they get three stars and not two. I’m thinking I would have had a better experience if I got a chance to order something different from the sides menu or if I got the xtrahot sauce. I don’t know. I’m really indifferent about my experience. Meh.
Yum yum… this place is guuud! The wings were very tasty. So were the curly fries and their chips… sooo yummy. I can’t say the service was the best OR my little ones behavior but all in all it was great food!

I would like to say that one of the managers contacted me after the last review I wrote to let me know they were working on the things that I discussed previously. He was very willing to listen to my concerns and addressed each one of them… the main one being that I had never been greeted at the front of the restaurant… until this past Friday! He told me on the phone that he was working on getting staff that showed up when scheduled and knew what they were supposed to do. When we went to happy hour on Friday there were TWO(!!!) girls at the front that greeted us and we were seated immediately… I knew the whole experience was going to be better just because of that. We sat at the tables near the bar, so the bartender was our waiter, but he did a wonderful job… very attentive. I would like to say that I am very pleased that management here cared enough to check on my concerns and fix them! Like I said before, I love the food here… so now there is nothing keeping us from being regulars!

A very eager manager seated us and explained everything on the menu. We played expensive picture games on the video poker-ish machine at our booth. Beer was decently priced,… I believe we hit up Happy Hour. Wings… me no likeee. I prefer the baked style, ya dig? Not the deep-fried, crispy-like-bug texture with no meat to be found under the crust. The rest of the meal was alright though. Meh. I like Pizza Hut or Hooters wings better.

Not so much. Food was average, service slow and inaccurate, was it just a bad day? Stopped by for some wings and a drink and was really not happy at all with the whole thing. Having the playground out the back door is a good idea but the food just wasn’t worth it. Go to Jason’s Deli next door instead.

Oh this is one of my favorite places in South Park Meadows. I usually order the Garlic cheese fries. They are curly fries with chili, cheese and garlic. I have ordered the wings. I was told the Atomic ones were the ones to get. On a dare, I ate them down without batting an eye. They were really good. I like the idea of having a wing place where you can get your wings WET or DRY. The last time I went, I got a ½ pound burger, which was awesome. The food is always good, service is always good too. This place is much better than Pluckers or WIng Stop.;

So, after two visits, here’s what I think. Food: average. Service: below average, but getting there. Atmosphere: Not unique, and thankfully not offensive. In fact this is the reason to go there. It’s quiet and unassuming for a wing joint, and has enough of a sports bar feel to make it comfortable. I almost hesitate to tell anyone about it, so that when I want to have a place to go watch a big game, I’ll have a place to go that won’t be full of all you screaming burnt-orange clad yahoos that tend to make me wanna KILL… I mean, I kinda like this place.
