Great burger from burger Tex! Cooked perfectly and when I asked if I could get a fried egg on top the owners said they hadn’t before but they would put one for me. Super nice! They also came out after to see if everything was good. Also, if you’ve never had the fries here, you’ve got to try them. I would drive from anywhere in Austin just for the fries, they’re amazing!

Burger Tex is a great burger place around UT that serves a delish burger and bomb seasoned fries! The Bulgogi burger is a must get here! Sweet & savory Korean seasoned thinly sliced beef topped with grilled onions and mushrooms along with some of that«special sauce» = delicious in your mouth! You can top your burger with your choice of lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and other sauces at the condiments bar. You can also request a spice level for your burger and although I can’t handle any amount of spiciness, even the bravest of my friends can barely handle a 3 so I would suggest maybe a level 2 if you are a newcomer! The seasoned fries here are cut thick and crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside! It’s about $ 10 a person but it’s definitely worth it to satisfy your burger craving!

This is not as good as the one on airport. Less meat. Not as tasty. Fries seemed different. I think it’s a tad more expensive too. If I’m around campus, I would got to dirty Martin’s instead.

Change in management. Loved it before but now the burgers are not like they use to be. Plus vulgar background music, literally talking about sexual intercourse, played while I was trying to eat. when I asked to change the music, the cashier and cook chuckled, and then changed the music. Never going back.

I live right next to this place and it’s taken me 2 years to finally eat here. The family running the restaurant were extremely friendly and they have a really big menu. I ordered the Spicy Bulgogi and it was amazing. I got the spiciest one; it had so much flavor to it and I thought it was much better than the Hopdoddy Bulgogi burger They have a great homemade sauce that went great with my onion rings. I will definitely be back to this place, the staff was just so warm and friendly and the burgers were excellent.

I come here every chance I get. The bugogi burger is the best. Choose spicy level three! And I’m not much of a French fries person but they are always made fresh and are out of this world. And this special sauce is so gooooood. I’ve never been disappointed.

Talking to a friend about my(now funny, at the time embarrassing) experience here and she said I have to post on Unilocal so here goes. My sister in law and I heard good things and wanted to try it out. We were the only customers in the restaurant. We briefly discussed whether to get the fried mushrooms or pickles, ultimately deciding on pickles. I placed the order for two burgers and fries pickles. The order comes and it’s mushrooms! I say«Oh we didn’t order mushrooms, it was pickles.» She tries to convince me otherwise, saying yes I had ordered the mushrooms. I protest a bit more, she goes in the back to talk to the cook. Then she comes back and flat out refuses to take back the mushrooms and make the pickles, insisting again that I had ordered the mushrooms. So my sister and I exchange looks, and eat the food. It was alright, but severely tainted by the bad experience. It’s the small details folks. I haven’t been back since nor will I ever go again or recommend to anyone. And if anyone asks about it as we drive by, I tell that story.

Awesome super chill burger joint. They serve interesting burgers that are pretty huge and they have awesome fries. The people are really nice and the food comes out fast. Top choice for a quick burger out of the ordinary.

My daughter and friend went to lunch there and she bought me a chicken burger with french fries. The burger was a good size with just tomatoes and lettuce just the way I like it and the fries, crispy, no grease. Great house sauce. Overall the whole meal was delicious and I will visit this location myself in the future. Got an A’ for the meal.

Spicy Bulgogi burger !! So tasty and just the right amount of heat with a 2⁄3 on the heat scale. Tasty special sauce and to top it off staff is very friendly.

Super low-key burger joint close to campus that is FREAKINGAMAZING! Pretty good prices on some solid burgers, but you should definitely try the Bulgogi burgers. I’ve had a lot of Korean friends come here and they said the flavoring to the bulgogi burgers are incredibly authentic so that is a plus! Also a help yourself salad bar lets you customize your veggies on your burger. Regardless of which burger you pick, the fries will wow you anyways. Some of the best seasoned fries I have ever eaten in my life. They’re probably super bad for you because they taste like they’ve been fried 15 times because they’re so crispy. Lastly, their«special sauce» is more than a «cherry on top.» It’s like adding a sundae on top of your sundae. I’m guessing it’s some variation of a thousand island dressing, but it tastes amazing on your burger and/or fries.

This place was disappointing. I ordered a bulgogi and spicy bulgogi burgers with fries and onion rings. Everything was iffy, but, the spicy bulgogi was what brought a 3 star review a one star review. The spicy bulgogi was terrible. Imagine thoughtlessly over seasoned beef drenched in liver and stomach damaging sauce. I wouldn’t call it spicy. It was .what is the word? .GROSS. Not Korean. Very insulting to my Korean taste buds. I basically paid for burgers to punish my stomach. I will not be returning. Offhand, if you want to know what a good Korean styled spicy bulgogi burger ought to taste like, go to any Korean restaurant, buy some bulgogi, ask the chef to cook it a tad bit spicy, purchase HEB buns and eat that.

When I was a UT student, Burger Tex 2 was the Hopdoddy before I knew Hopdoddy existed. This is the place where the diners are craving burgers, but not looking for just the standard simple burger. Just take 60 seconds to look at their menu. Get excited, get hungry. They’re known for their Bulgogi burger, and I’ll fully stand by it. Flavorful bulgogi with the sought-after fatty bits. The buns are wonderfully toasted, although it can get soggy from the bulgogi juices(not really complaining). The fries. Oh the fries. The fries are on a league of their own. So crispy and delicious on the outside and thick and soft on the inside. The more gourmet burger places always do too much to their fries. Burger Tex 2 keeps their fries simple, yet still different. It’s delicious, and you can’t eat here without getting their fries. Their special House Sauce. Eat it with your fries. Eat it your burger. Done. Excellent service as well. Always smiling and treating their customers well. Want unique burgers? Want to avoid long lines and get your burger within 5 minutes from ordering? Get to Burger Tex 2 now; you won’t be disappointed.

After the first time I had Burger Tex in college, I knew this would be a fixture of my subsequent visits to Austin. I visit Austin once every few months and make sure to have a bulgogi burger at least once a year. The buns, fries, sides, sauces, and of course, bulgogi, are AMAZING. There’s nothing about this place that isn’t delicious. If you love burgers and like Korean food, this needs to be a staple in your diet. Period.

I got the bulgolgi burger(less spice) and it was interesting but honestly just alright. I was just a little disappointed with the taste of bulgolgi(I know it’s not supposed to be restaurant quality but…). The fries were really good! It seems like an interesting and unique thing to try, but I don’t think I’d come back particularly for it again. Cute little place with lots of interesting paintings though! Try it once if you haven’t!

I’m getting seriously hungry remembering my burger here. One of my coworkers has consistently maintained that THIS is his favorite burger. We even had a burger challenge here at work — he sponsored through the competition and it got pretty far, but Bartlett’s burger won. Anyhoo, I’ve been meaning to check this place out but there are so many places to get a burger between my ‘hood and this place, so I just haven’t made it there yet. I. will. be. back. First, the fries. I call them Florida fries because our first trip to Cocoa Beach, every time we ordered fries it was this type(battered, I think?). Yummy, crispy, delicious. I wasn’t as enamored with the special sauce as everyone else was, but I loved the fresh toppings that I got to load up myself(which means all the extra pickles I want, muahahaha!). The burger was a surprise. It was ginormous! I ate the whole damn thing because I was at the peak of marathon training and my running mileage was only dwarfed by my hunger that week, but any other time, it may have been a lunch/dinner situation(or at least lunch/snack). I didn’t try any spice, just wanted to see what the PLAIN ol’ cheeseburger tasted like, but next time I’ll probably at least try 1. I want someone else to get the bulgogi burger so I can taste it, because I can’t see ever going there and not ordering that damn cheeseburger. So good.

May we take a moment to recognize the hidden gem that is Burger Tex 2? I’ve been walking my dog over here and getting the same thing for years, ever since my friend introduced me to it: A level-2 spicy bulgogi burger blessed with sliced avocado, bacon, grilled mushrooms/onions/jalapeños, and a slice of pineapple, complemented by a delicious half-and-half pile of fries and onion rings. They keep things simple. Every time you walk in, the staff is friendly and smiling. You look at the condiment and toppings bar and everything is freshly washed and freshly cut. Without fail — even when you get a to-go order — your food is beautifully presented. One time, I peeked behind the curtain to see my food being made and watched as THREE people completed my burger in one fluid movement: Bulgogi, Bacon, Pineapple. Art. This is how you do food.

These are some of the best fries I have ever had, very crispy and delicious. It went very well with the special homemade sauce. The burger was pretty good too, I got the bulgolgi burger which is their special and I got it with spice level 2. It was definitely spicy and I think next time I will get spice level 1. The only downside of this place was the price. For my boyfriend and I we spent about $ 20. Next time we will share fries and a drink because there were a bunch left! Totally recommend it though, well worth the money to try something new.

Ok, let me just say I used to be obsessed with this place my freshman year. You can either walk here or take a short bus ride. My favorite things about this place are 1) their SUPER fresh veggies, 2) their super fluffy, fresh-baked buns, and 3) their«special sauce».(Honestly, I think all«special sauce» is a variation of thousand island dressing, and I don’t think this is an exception). The fries here are also yummy, puffy, & well-seasoned!

Burger is ok– I’m no burger connosieur. Great that you get to dress it yourself. The one time I had their bulgolgi burger, I was appalled by how salty it was… haven’t tried it again since. SO… why 4 stars? 4 stars is for their fries & special sauce. MYFAVORITEFRIESANDSPECIALSAUCE(the pink one) COMBOEVER. even better than Chik-fil-a fries. Pricey though… for fries… otherwise i’d come here more. Parking is limited in the back.

Burger Tex, you have stolen my heart! Why am I just now trying this place? Service and Ambiance: The service is great here. The employee that took our order made sure our burger was made to perfection. The place is really cozy and rustic too. Nothing fancy, just a casual hole in the wall restaurant that is ready to serve quality food. Food: The burgers here are very unique! I had the Spicy Bulgogi burger! It’s basically a Korean BBQ burger! Need I say more? It was definitely spicy to me but I loved it. You’re able to tell the employees how spicy you want the burger and I ordered it very spicy. It was as spicy as the«El Diablo» burger at Hopdoddy. They have this special house sauce that pulled everything together! And because all of the condiments and toppings are self serve, you can load on all the special sauce that you want. Now let’s talk about the fries! WOW, these are BOMB! I don’t know how they make them but they are so crispy and are made to perfection. I will definitely be back to Burger Tex! It is a little pricy but definitely worth every penny! I highly recommend Burger Tex to every burger lover in the Austin area!

I need to post a review about this place before I forget, cuz I absolutely love this place. If you are in Austin, you gotta try this place out! Especially if you are into Korean-Mex fusion! For me, the go-to burger is the Bulgogi burger! :D Or the spicy bulgogi burger. They are both very delicious. Although priced slightly above average(about 7 dollars for the burger itself and 9 bucks for a meal), it is definitely worth it. The bulgogi burger has a lot of flavor, and the spicy one gives you the option of having different degrees of spicy-ness. Definitely try out the«homemade» sauce… not sure what’s in it but I always add it in. The fries here are pretty standard to above average level, and they give you a decent amount for how much you pay! Other than that, there aren’t that many other options for food. The people who work are also very enthusiastic. The girl at the cashier has been there for the last few years I’ve visited the place, and she’s always be really nice about getting your orders and asking what you want :) Overall, Burger Tex is awesome. It is a great place to hit up if you want to have a quick meal.
