All the charm of a hospital. If you’re really into yourself and you need atmosphere, this is the place. Coffee drinks are nice. Breakfast tacos are pre-made, wrapped in foil, kept in a steamer until the flour tortillas are damp, and are tiny. Like Chipotle, it’s one of those places that serves up mediocrity at high prices and depends on industrial aesthetics to virtue signal college undergrads that This Is A Really Cool Place. But for grownups, it’s not all that. Not at all. I think Austin must have better; and I hope to find it.

This place is a TWOATBEST. On Saturday there was a average crowd and they had one person making every single drink which took FOREVER. I felt bad for the barista she plugged away while another staff member worked a register across from the coffee bar… WHY? Terrible system that stresses the employee and pisses off the customer.

Nice place, friendly staff. I visited on a lazy Sunday morning, parked my car in the parking spot in spot of the street(not because of the Sunday morning but I have a reserved ADA parking spot as I use a wheelchair). I tried the espresso and planned to work there. However, there is no elevator to go to the second floor, and I can not use the stair in my wheelchair… so it remains unexplored to me. Just had to drink the coffee and returned. I heard about the great view from 2nd floor but could not enjoy that.

I swing by here before work for a morning coffee or latte. They have plenty of plugs and plenty of seating. Never seems to be terribly crowded. The drinks are as good as most other coffee shops. Prices are what I’d expect at a coffee shop in the middle of downtown.

I’m not really an avid coffee drinker, but this coffee is really delicious. They also have a small variety of pastries and healthy snacks, which I really love. It’s a perfect place to grab a good cup of coffee and your lunch for the day. The staff here are really nice and welcoming… usually. I’m typically not one to complain about particular staff members publicly, but I felt as if this young lady went out of her way to be rude to me for something that could have been a simple miscommunication. I wanted my coffee to-go but it wasn’t put in a to-go cup. I said«oh, I actually wanted this to-go» and she immediately had an attitude because I inconvenienced her. I didn’t blame anyone, I wasn’t impatient or rude. I understand these things happen and it’s really no big deal. She was exasperated, banged things around a little bit, and was clearly bothered by my simple request. Anyway, it took her about 3 seconds to transfer my coffee into a to-go cup, so it didn’t seem to be much of a difficult task. I was bothered that she spent her energy on making me feel unwelcomed and embarrassed. I’m not here to rat anyone out, or shame anyone. I’m really over the situation all together. But as someone who works in the customer service industry, I feel as though I should say something. If being patient, hospitable, and polite is a struggle for you, I would advise you not to work in the service industry. Even if it is an inconvenience, even if you aren’t at fault, it is your responsibility and your job to maintain a level of customer service that creates an exceptional image for your company. I understand that people have bad days, and that mistakes happen. And I’m sure she’s very good at her job. But this was something that irked me. Again, my intention is not to get anyone in trouble, but maybe to offer something of value to learn from. Thank you!

Don’t come here if you’re in a rush. It felt like forever before my order came up and it wasn’t even busy. You order at the cashier and the barista area is in the middle of the shop with a bar area surrounding it. We posted up there and waited and waited before my latte was called out. It felt like forever and since the person I was having a meeting with had ordered drip coffee, it was certainly annoying that I had to wait so long to have my drink… our meeting was almost over at that point! Nevertheless, the latte was quite good and the shop had a nice atmosphere.

The place is definitely nice and pretty, the people are very friendly, but the coffee is just OK. I have had better coffee in downtown to be honest. Anyway, it is definitely a good place to meet people and chit chat, so still recommended.

Something has happened to this place over the last few months. They used to boast pretty good espresso’s and coffee products in general, and the last few times they have unfortunately had coffee makers there who seemed to take the namesake of the place to heart(you know the Medici’s in Florence and their reputation …) and inflict sub par coffee on you. The last Sunday was nuts when they apparently did not have the coffee they listed but made a french press that was the color of dishwater and I wish it was dishwater, because it might have had better flavor. I guess what was annoying was that this was a generally pretty standard place before and we took friends there leading to my rep taking a hit! not cool. But will give it a shot again in say 30 days and see what’s up.

Wonderful café with a generously spacious interior, decent wifi, and most importantly, coffee with full-bodied flavor and verve. We also loved the design and branding. I miss this place now that I’m back home in California.

Trendy coffee shop with local and organic products. They have beer on tap too. My only suggestion is that it would be useful if they had napkins/sugar/straws upstairs too.

I don’t drink coffee, only tea so take this review as you wish. I ordered a hot chai latte and it was not good at all. I didn’t even finish most of it. Maybe the coffee is better, but avoid ordering the chai latte. I noticed people who ordered lattes had pretty latte foam art — that was cool.

Hands down best coffee I’ve found in Austin. I’ve had a cortado, cappuccino, and a latte. As well as a couple of pour overs… not all at once mind you, I don’t have a death wish. Ha. Medici’s does all of them wonderfully. The baristas are incredibly friendly. Customers range from the hipster types, students, to people in suits, as well as families… a good sign in my opinion, as quality coffee draws all types of people. There are plenty of places to sit, both upstairs and downstairs. Also, highly recommend the croissants(especially almond), they’re amazing.

Caffe Medici is a great downtown café hangout spot. Whether you want to catch up on some work in their naturally lit comfortable spacious second floor loft, or chill with friends. Their coffee is great. The espresso drinks are made from an exclusive Cuvee blend. They utilize Temple beans for their French Press coffees, and Ruby for special pour overs. In the morning they have a selection of Tacodeli breakfast tacos to choose from. Or, a few baked goods, which includes gluten free items from my favorite Blackbird Bakery. I managed to grab their last muffin of the morning. They also have beers on tap and a happy hour from 4−7pm(if I remember right). During happy hour they have a special happy hour coffee drink blended with a milk stout nitro. For those non beer drinks, they did have East Austin Cider available in cans. This is one of many great coffee options downtown. The do some beautiful coffee art as well here, even for the to go orders. Just walk to the back register to order your drink, and then wait at the coffee bar for your order to come up.

Great place to sit and study or work or hang out with friends! Seating upstairs and downstairs! Delicious pastries and Tacodeli tacos! Great coffee — in particular, I love their cappuccino and cortado! Very modern and sleek interior! On Congress, so good luck parking!

Our favorite coffee shop in Austin! The coffee here is legit. We had the latte and macchiato. Both had excellent flavor(a bright, smooth espresso taste.) I don’t really understand the other reviews that didn’t like the coffee here. I thought it was excellent. Beyond the coffee itself, the shop is airy, clean, and well designed. There’s a variety of seating available.

this coffee shop was a bit confusing at first, you order at the cashier but the barista was in a totally separate area. I still cant figure out how the order gets transferred but I may have missed the computer or system but needless to say I ordered a latte and it was amazing. I ordered a latte w Sugar Free Vanilla and it was very tasty, light and had a cute design created with the foam. there is good seating downstairs as well as an upstairs area with extra seating. The place gets busy around the 9 and 10 am hour. They serve these breakfast tacos which were amazing! I had the egg, potato and cheese w salsa verde, they are the perfect size for breakfast!

The servers had a pomp and self worth greater than or equal to Medici royalty. Each subtle sarcastic comment I wedged in response to this was quickly volleyed back with no remorse. This small coffee shop on congress is full of narcissistic attitude from the business lounge casually dressed handsome clientele poised on couches showcasing engaging conversations aware of the leather to the hipper than thou pretty and independently stylish women behind the counter. The espresso was good but all this unfriendly self importance isn’t the way I want to think of Austin. Unfortunately with its urban development, Austin is still as weird as Tom Cruise — a polished product out to win it all with the sacrifice of a soul. Maybe they should change the name of this coffee shop to «café of the black eyed children.» Coffee and pastries offered in a sleek clean space that has the feel of an expensive car dealership.

This is a lovely spot with great seating. Check out the upstairs area which is clean, airy, and you get that perched-up-top feeling. Decent amount of electrical outlets. I like the breakfast burritos they sell. Good stuff. Bathrooms were clean and well-appointed. I enjoyed using them.

If I lived in Austin, I think I would go here every single day. We stumbled upon Medici while exploring the downtown area and, being in need of a caffeine fix, decided to stop in. The space itself is great. I loved the open feel and adequate seating space. There are few things worse than a good coffee shop that doesn’t have anywhere to sit! The setup was a little unique, with orders being taken at one counter towards the back, while drinks are prepared at a larger central bar. I actually think this is a good idea as it probably reduces congestion during peak times as people wait for their drinks. I was craving iced coffee so I kept it pretty simple. I was not at all disappointed. I usually drink hot coffee black, but iced coffee with cream and sugar due to its inherent bitterness. This iced coffee was barely bitter at all, and did not require much of anything to be added. Because of this I am assuming it is cold-brewed, which makes a huge difference. My friend ordered a mocha, which I tasted and also found to be delicious. It was made to be just barely sweet, which is perfect. On top of the great coffee, the service was also quick and everyone we encountered was friendly.

Very different from the Guadalupe Caffe Medici. It feels much lighter, cleaner, and modern at this location — definitely matches the surrounding downtown neighborhood. The interior design was beautifully done. The bakery case was stocked with cookies, cakes, and sandwiches from local bakeries. The baristas were knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations. They use Cuvee coffee here which makes a delicious latte. There were plenty of tables and outlets for people to get comfortable with their coffee date, their textbooks, or their laptops. This location is quieter and much less busy than Guadalupe, understandably as it’s not right off campus and parking in downtown is tougher.
