This review is for drinks only. Stopped by for a quick drink, had a Jalapeño hibiscus margarita. Meh, pretty flavorless. Jared the bartender was fab tho and let us sample a couple tastes of local beer that were good so 5* for him! Really nice ambience with great tables for people watching on the street corner of the JW Marriott. Provides a nice respite from the heat.

wildest bars in echo location it’s all outside I would recommend heading inside the lobby bar it’s much more lively and crazy but it depends on what you’re in the mood for the bar is definitely nice to have to keep up with sauza which is very good. for well

The wife and I enjoyed a «date night» at Corner. The entire experience was good. We enjoyed the strawberry salad, house smoked salmon, the steak, and adobo chicken. It was all good, especially the chicken. I was sad to see they no longer pour the Mosaic from Community. Maybe they could include the Mosaic from Hops & Grains(made here in Austin) as a replacement…(hint-hint wink, nudge) The service was all friendly and top notch. Enrique took good care of us and the Manager stopped by to ensure everything was satisfactory. I’ll go back, especially if you get another Mosaic on that tap list…

Came here on our first night in Austin — we were staying at the JW and too hungry to venture further. Overall a subpar experience I would say 2 stars is being generous even. Service was slow and terrible had to ask for a server after waiting 40min for a table and another 15min after being seated. Food was nothing to write home about, it wasn’t gross but not what I expect for the price. Fries were so salty we couldn’t even eat them. Drinks and ambience are why I gave 2 stars.

Corner bar is a yummy and convenient place for lunch if you work downtown. The 7-layer salad(presented table side via server lifting a long vase, perfectly-layered ingredients inside) is a must. Gouda Mac ‘n Cheese is delicious as a side. Servers are always prompt and friendly. I only wish they served the full lunch menu in the outdoor lounge area!

Their fried chicken sandwich might be the best I’ve ever had. The combination of flavors is so unique and so delicious. I’m craving it just thinking about it. Highly recommended!

Started off with a local beer Pearl Snap which the server Emilio said was like a Texas Stella. It was a great choice. The zucchini cornbread was to die for, enough for 4 to split and not be super full before dinner. I had the pecan crusted grouper over masked potatoes. My son had a burger added bacon. It was a great meal and I was glad to walk to dinner from the Radisson. Not many choices on this menu but we found something we liked.

I’m not sure what the hype is about this restaurant/bar. It was okay, but not as great as the review state. Stayed at the JW Marriott hotel and ate here for an easy dinner. While the bar and patio were crazy busy, the dining area was a bit slower. Overall the atmosphere was fun and loud– good Saturday night crowd. Great for people watching. The food had the potential to be good, but overall the food was really really salty. We started out on a good foot with the Shishitos two ways — kafr lime crema. I had never heard of these and they were unlike anything I’ve had before(these were a type of pepper) one was tempora’d and the other was not. Although slightly salty, both types were both very tasty and I would get these again. Next I had the Corner Burger(bacon, candied jalapeños, deep ellum blue cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo). Again very tasty but slightly salty. I had to order a water by this point. Loved the candied jalapeños they added a nice sweet flavor and the meat was cooked perfectly. The fries– ugh– the fries were so salty could not eat them. Heard other tables complaining about the salty food as well– so i guess it was not just me. One hit(Shishitos) and one big miss(fries).

Great food! Cannot leave without getting the cornbread. It was big enough to split with 2 – 3 ppl but I ended up eating half of it myself… Also tried the trip with chips-guac salsa and queso. It was pretty good. Truffle fries is always a good idea as well. Service was nice, they made a mistake bringing out non GF tacos that my husband had to send back but they fixed it promptly and was very friendly. Will definitely come back :)

Had a very unfortunate experience at Corner on Saturday. My friend and I were walking by and decided to pop in for a quick round of shots at the outside bar. The bartender was a young guy with dark hair and a man bun. He was extremely judgmental of our order and made us feel super uncomfortable. The conversation went as follows: Friend: «Can we have two shots of Fireball?» Bartender: «Unfortunately, yes.» Friend: «Excuse me?» Bartender: «I said, unfortunately yes. We just started carrying it yesterday. Why don’t you order Jameson instead?» Friend: «Because I don’t like Jameson. It’s too sweet.» Bartender: «Jameson is too sweet for you but Fireball isn’t?» Friend: «It’s a different kind of sweet I just don’t like it.» The bartender proceeded to give us the shots and charge us $ 9 per shot. My friend questioned the pricing and the bartender said since the item wasn’t in their system yet he was charging us for Jameson instead. Besides the fact that charging us $ 18 for two shots of fireball is ridiculous, the fact that the bartender made us feel like we needed to explain ourselves for liking a specific type of alcohol is absolutely absurd. I’ve lived in Austin for a little bit over a year and I’ve grown accustomed to all restaurant and bar staff being really sweet and accommodating. This is genuinely the first instance of pretentiousness that I’ve experienced and I have to say that I’m incredibly disappointed.

Corner is an awesome chill bar, neat crowd that may get a little noisy as the evening picks up, mostly hotel guests since this is the corner of the JW Marriot :) — Food/Starters: not an extensive menu but the shishito two ways(just ask for the one way, it doesnt have to be crusted and fried) and brussels sprouts are not bad at all. — Drinks: have a range of beer, not extensive again but the bartenders(some are snooty) will give you their best suggestions — IFYOULIKESPICYDRINKS — must try their hibiscus and jalapeño drink(oh yessss)!! Great for the outside patio and sitting around the bar to socialize!

A little pricey — the bartenders can appear to be overworked(or they want you to think they are?) the drinks were good, the food was ok

We decided to stop by for food after a day on Rainey, especially after seeing the amount of people on the outdoor patio. Corner has a great ambience and awesome location, but the appetizers we ordered were pretty subpar taste-wise. We pretty much ordered every appetizer, so here is a full review: House made zucchini cornbread: not bad, can’t really go wrong with some yummy cornbread! Shishitos two ways: the fried ones were tasty because they were fried, and the sauce was delicious too Smoked salmon: I really wasn’t a fan of this sauce– they used this sauce for the low country fry up as well. This dish was really not what I was expecting when I ordered it… in a bad way unfortunately Low country fry up: Not too tasty either except that it was fried so it was edible. I didn’t like the sauce but fried food is food. Smoked Gouda mac and cheese: this was honestly pretty tasteless also. The texture was nice, however. Nachos?: Not sure what menu item this was, but it was a nacho dish with shredded beef, a little bit of queso, and onion toppings. This was probably the best of the appetizers. Our service was very friendly, and everything else about the restaurant was fine. The food was just not as great as the crowds.

Great restaurant for a group! Came here with 13 girls and the food was delicious. The staff was also super accommodating and we had such a great time. Try the ribs and Gouda Mac n cheese. No regrets

We had drinks and an appetizer on the patio because of the beautiful weather – on the first floor of the JW Marriott, this bar/restaurant is great for people watching and offers a great environment. We had the shishitos two ways appetizer – it’s shishito peppers battered and fried and then peppers without the battering. Nice and tasty little snack. Their version of the french 75 cocktail was great – very citrus-y and also with a nice herb addition. The reason for the 3-star rating is that the service was so-so – our waiter came to our table right as we arrived and then disappeared and never came back. I had to go up to the bar to be able to place an order.

I was hesitant to eat at a restaurant of the hotel I was staying at, but I was short on time before heading out to the airport and I was famished after lots of walking so I decided to give Corner a try. This restaurant is embedded inside the JW Marriott. It’s very spacious inside with a nice outdoor patio area off of Congress – great for people watching and evening hangouts. The ambiance and décor is modern but cozy. I sat at the bar since I was by myself. The servers were friendly and efficient. I ordered the short rib tacos and a side of Brussels sprouts. Being from California, I thought they’d only give you two small tacos, but I was wrong. They really do everything big here in Texas. The taco plate had three big, filling tacos. And the pancetta Brussels sprouts side was big enough to share. The short rib tacos didn’t disappoint. There were chunks of meat inside with good flavor and sauce. I thought I was only going to eat one or two because they were so big, but I ended up devouring all three AND finished all the Brussels sprouts! It was so good that I couldn’t stop. And no, I don’t regret having such a big lunch – I skipped dinner later on. :) When you come to Austin, don’t let the«hotel restaurants» fool you. They are not your typical hotel food. I’d come back to Corner when I visit again and also try other«hotel restaurants» along Congress.

We stayed at the JW Marriot over the weekend for my birthday and stopped by Corner between our drinking adventures. We sat outside on the patio and split the cheeseburger with the grilled onions and was so in love we ordered another one to share! The grilled onions were so perfect — the bun was soft and lightly toasted — skinny cut fries like I love them — and the burger was just juicy enough! The service was great and we had fun mingling with some people outside. We also came by Corner one evening and sat inside at the bar and had the ribs(which weren’t our favorite because they were too hard) and also had the zucchini cornbread which was much better. My hubby surprised me for my birthday and they sent out a brownie with caramel and pecans on top with vanilla ice-cream. The brownie was a bit too dry for my liking and it seemed like the dessert was made a day or two before. There was one server that was pretty short with us but there was another guy named Troy(I believe) and he was so sweet. I wanted Soy Milk for my White Russian and he went out of his way to go find some from in-room dining for me!
